Troy Melton officially Game 1 starter, Tarik Skubal Game 2, Keith and Vierling taking BP? ๐Ÿ‘€

  1. You get to use Mize and Flaherty at home. If you’re still in it, you have Skubal Game 5 at Seattle.

  2. I’m guessing it’s going to be closer to a Melton opener type role with Keider to follow?

Keith news much more important than Vierling at this point as we need that second lefty bat to platoon with Ibanez.

  3. I like it. Let him go 4 or less innings and bring in Montero?

He seems to give up homers when coming in relief but does better as a starter. Just keep them from jumping off the bats Motown Melton and weโ€™ve got a shot.

  4. Melton’s got a chance for redemption against the hottest offense in the MLB. One thing he has going for him is that Seattle hasn’t seen him pitch yet.

  5. Honestly it doesnโ€™t matter who starts, the bigger question is who is gonna hit? Raleigh is almost guaranteed to hit a homer at some point, how big will it be for them? We need someone to step up and counter that. Please be Javy Baez

  6. Montero gives us a great start in Boston in a game we had to win to avoid using Skubal on Sunday, clinching a playoff spot in the process. Melton gets rocked by the Guardians and costs us the game, and Hinch decides to go with Melton.

  7. I expect Troy Melton to pitch extremely well and rebound from his previous outing which was a poor performance, but also hopefully an important learning experience too.

  8. I actually would rather see Montero start. Heโ€™s got that dawg in him and is a competitor not afraid of the moment. Seattle will be a hornets nest for game one, I donโ€™t think Montero is shaken by that.

  9. Iโ€™m going to be honest. I love this. Sure he got shelled against Cleveland. I donโ€™t really care. He looked like our 2nd best arm all season. If we are able to steal game 1 with 2 skubal starts in our pocket, we really have an ability to make this series interesting

  10. Should be noted that NWS is predicting a 40-50 percent chance of rain tomorrow afternoon in Seattle.

  11. Why wouldnโ€™t it be Skubal then he could start again on game 5 if necessary ? What am I missing ?

  12. I like Melton as the 2- to 3-inning opener in the 2025 version of pitching chaos. Being maximum-effective coming out of the bullpen requires a certain something that none of us can understand, because baseball is cuckoo. Put him on the mound to do his thing at the beginning of the game, when he can prepare and is primed to throw filth.
