PATRICK KANE SPEAKS OUT BIG TIME ON JONATHAN TOEWS & HIS NHL RETURN

Long, long ago, in an era, a galaxy far away from what we live in today, we had these two, Patrick Kane and Jonathan Taves, just some fantastic Chicago Blackhawks legends, players that cemented themselves as some of the 100 best NHL players of all time. Uh, I don’t know about that. You could debate some of the other names, but still that was a controversy from about eight years ago that only the real ones will remember. But Jonathan Taves and Patrick Kaine had themselves memories to last any hockey fan a lifetime with three Stanley Cups as members of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010, in 2013, and in 2015. The Blackhawks dynasty was fantastic and both Kain and Taves were pivotal parts in making it happen. Not to mention Patrick Sharp, Marian Hosa, Duncan Keith, Cory Crawford, just so many legends for these teams in the 2010s. But Patrick Kane was always the best player. He was always the top guy. Maybe not always the K smite winner, per se, but a very, very versatile, very valuable NHL player and somebody who at one point was the most productive player in the league. He is a one-time Ted Lindseay, Art Ross, and Heart Trophy winner, and he is now suiting up for the Detroit Red Wings, where previously he had 59 points in 72 games played. Now, for Patty Kane, of course, we recognize his story. He was a Chicago Blackhawk for so long. He then got traded over to New York. Went over and had himself surgery which sidelined him for the opening parts of 23-24 before signing with the Detroit Red Wings in free agency. He resigned since then and now he’s here in Detroit till the end of 2526. But the thing is, his partner in crime, Jonathan Taves, has just recently come back to the NHL. After complications with longco, Jonathan Taves ended up missing the past 2 years worth of hockey. He last played an NHL game in the 2223 season where he had 31 points in 53 total games. Jonathan Taves was a legend for Chicago with the Stanley Cups and the Cons himself, not to mention winning the Selki at some point in his career, too. But it’s been a few long years for Taves without playing any pro sports. And now he’s in the Winnipeg Jets organization getting ready to suit up more so in a middle tier depth role. I don’t think anybody is expecting Taves to be what he once was, an 80point guy, a Consulky winning candidate player, a point per game guy in multiple playoff runs. I don’t think anybody’s expecting that out of Taves at the Winnipeg Jets. But the reason we’re making this video is because of Patrick Kane’s comments on what he is expecting out of Jonathan Taves and how this is a great return story for the NHL. This article by Greg Wasinski is going to be left in the description below. It was published the other day on ESPN.com. We’re going to dive into the comments made by Patrick Kane on Jonathan Taves and his return into the National Hockey League. This article talks about how Taves hasn’t played in the NHL since his final game in April 2 years ago. Taves was limited during his final two seasons in Chicago, dealing with the effects of chronic inflammatory response syndrome and a bout with CO. He signed a one-year deal with the Jets in July, mounting an NHL comeback with his hometown team. Kane and Taves won three Stanley Cups as teammates with the Blackhawks. Taves captained that team for 14 years. I think it’s awesome. Obviously, with what he’s been through, to be able to put himself in a position to come back and be feeling good. I think that’s the most important thing. Kane told ESPN on Tuesday, “It could be a really great story for the NHL and for the franchise and for him and his family. So, I’m excited about watching him.” Now, we just got to acknowledge here as well, Patrick Kane, this probably does mean a lot for him because he also needed to take some time off before signing with the Detroit Red Wings. His off season in 2023 was filled with recovery and trying to get back up to speed after surgery. So albeit to a much lesser extent, Kane probably can relate to Jonathan Taves not being able to play the sport that he loves for a certain amount of time. Although of course Jonathan Taves missed the entire 2020 2021 season because of these issues and then he ended up not playing for another 2 years a little while after that. Much more extreme absence in Jonathan Tav’s case compared to Kane. Taves stepping away from hockey after the Blackhawks declined to resign him. He said he wasn’t fully retiring, but he would give himself the time and space to fully heal. In November 2024, Taves posted to social media about his 5we healing journey he took in India, which you can personally go out there and dispute. But if Jonathan Taves himself is saying that it worked, then who are we to say that it didn’t? It’s almost been 5 years of searching for a way to heal the inflammatory and immune system issues that took him out of hockey. Let’s dive into here. Kane entering his third season with the Red Wings said that Taves had stayed in touch with him during his former NHL teammates time away. We talked quite a bit. Taves came to Chicago about a month ago, so I was able to see him there. Even obviously with him not playing the last couple of years, he’s been great just keeping in touch and reaching out after a game every now and then. It’s always nice to hear from him, Kane said. Kane also left Chicago in 2023 when the Blackhawks traded him to the Rangers. “It’s funny how your paths kind of change, right? You’re seeing each other everyday for 17 years and then all of a sudden you kind of go your separate ways.” Kane said, “I felt that way about some of my other teammates, too, like Brent Cbrook, Duncan Keith, and Patrick Sharp. These are your best friends. All of a sudden, they retire or they go to a different team and you don’t see them as much. It’s kind of wild.” With Taves potentially finishing his career in his hometown, there’s always been speculation that Kane could do the same. Okay, we are not going to dive into that. Kane over to Buffalo. Is that a possibility here? You know what? I feel like I’ve been pretty fortunate with the franchises I’ve played for. Chicago, New York was a great experience, even though it didn’t work as well as I’d hoped. Now, Detroit, Kane said, “I mean, I’ve really enjoyed my time there. It’s been a great place to revive my career and play in a good situation and be on a team that’s on the rise. So, uh, yeah, take your notes out here, folks. Patrick Kane didn’t necessarily say yes or no to playing in Buffalo. He just said, “Hey, I like it in Detroit, and we’re a team that’s on the rise.” I mean, that’s all that Greg Wasinski went out there and included in his article here. But it is kind of endearing in a way to see Patty Kane hype up his guy Jonathan Taves like these guys once were all those years ago. And when you think about it, yeah, Patrick Kane’s last year in Chicago was also Taves’s last year in Chicago. These guys were teammates just two years ago. Patrick Kane was there with 45 points in 54 games. Jonathan Taves had 31 points in 53 games. Max Doi led the team in point production. And however many guys here played 82 games, you only had none. Andreas Athens who had the most was 81 and he had 40 points on the matter. So Chicago, they were already really bad at that point. They were bad enough to get first overall Connor Baddard and inevitably try to work things out with him. No more Taves and Kane though, but Connor Baddard did come in and lead the team in scoring in his first year. Unfortunate to see how his career has gone so far. Hopefully Bedard can bounce back and be what Patrick Kane once was for the Chicago Blackhawks. It might take him a while, but I still do believe that generational potential exists within his frame. With all this in mind though, I want you to let me know your thoughts in the comment section below. How do you feel about Patrick Kane’s commentary on Jonathan Taves? It’s pretty endearing in my opinion, especially for Blackhawks fans who will reminisce about the glory days of this team winning three Stanley Cups in six seasons, 2010, 2013, 2015, plus just all the success in between there. Chicago and LA dominated the NHL in this early 2010s era. and Taves and Kane alongside a Dowy, Copitar, Quick, and more were very big parts of that. Let me know your thoughts in the comments to how Taves is going to perform in Winnipeg and what are your thoughts on Patrick Kane’s Detroit Red Wings future. Let me know how you feel about these dudes. I hope you enjoyed this Vash 99 and bye.

  1. Toews coming to Detroit to reunite with Kane and Debrincat would’ve been the better fit just sayin i don’t care that Winnipeg is his home it doesn’t make any sense he didn’t consider reuniting with his best friend he made a stupid mistake he ain’t gonna win another cup in Winnipeg or Detroit regardless.but that’s not the point toews would have brought a lot a leader ship to Detroit to help boost them to the playoffs bet money on it.second line with Kane toews and Debrincat would have been epic in the winged wheel
