“If we lose in the playoffs playing good baseball to a team playing good baseball, i’m ok with that. Somebody’s gotta win. But if we play shitty baseball and we come to the clubhouse and still feel ok, that’s bad baseball. I don’t want that.” – Baez after clinching wild card spot

  1. Anyone remember what I said at the end of spring training, about Baez?

I said that at years end, he would have better numbers than Trey Sweeney, and be a positive player on a winning ball club, because the work ethic was still there, and he was willing to adjust, and put the team first.

A lot of people called me crazy…..

  2. He was getting fuzzballs all series. Daring him to swing not knowing he ALWAYS swings.

  3. To have the worst September breakdown of all-time to one of the best postseason runs would be fantastic…Guess we’ll find out Saturday. I hope the long rest affects the Mariners like it did us for the ‘06 and ‘12 WS

  4. This is the attitude I want to see from the young guys. Baez has been exasperating at times, but he has resurrected his reputation in my eyes.

I’ve also noticed that he doesn’t always interact with the other guys (Greene specifically) all buddy buddy. I’m fine with that, especially if he’s carrying the load on defense like he does.

  5. Don’t let up Baez keep putting pressure on this team to perform. Let’s go down swinging!

  6. Guys tap the breaks he hit 4 ground balls to short that got into the outfield he’s not hitting balls 500 feet

  7. Man he had a swing at a hanging slider that he just missed, I can’t remember exactly but there was at least 2 on, if he’d a hit that it was probably gone and it would have been amazing , I hope stays hot, I love seeing javy succeed

  8. I’m so happy that Javy is a part of this run after this Tiger tenure. He’s been a catalyst for the season and arguably the captain. We go as he goes; I understand why Cubs fans speak so fondly of him.

  9. I hope to see him move up in the lineup. Like 3rd or 5th. Tigers need him hitting in those spots with RISP versus Riley and Tork until they get out of their funk.

  10. Last year I was rooting for you all. This year, I am nervous for this series as I never expected Seattle to make it like this.

Skubal terrifies me, even if he did get clobbered this season, October is different.

Cheers to an awesome fucking series, and may the winner topple the AL East!

  11. I fucking love Javy Baez. I don’t give a shit about his contract, I don’t give a shit about last year. He is a phenomenal ball player and I’m stoked he’s on our team. The man is an athlete and a competitor. Let’s go.
