“The Yankees, they’re not a good team. I don’t care what their record is. They have a lot of wild pitches. They make a lot of mistakes in the field. They don’t run the bases very well.” – Blue Jays analyst Buck Martinez.

  1. Wild pitches is a weird thing to bring up, I think we just throw too many regular old run of the mill balls.

  2. And I also heard Martinez was making fun of Cam Schlittler’s mother – somebody better tell him before his next start!

  3. Buck’s old, gravelly voice might be the most unpleasant thing i’ve ever heard in my entire life… i would hate to have to listen to that almost every dayif I were a Jay’s fan. But i guess it’s what they deserve

  4. Very rarely is a team that wins it all close to perfect without major flaws. Even the Dodgers last year had exploitable weaknesses. So these sorts of things always come about as a mixture of cope and bitterness and also blinding bias. Because I’m sure Jays fans will be the first to admit their team has plenty of weaknesses too.

  5. My only wish was that we got to hear that old clown call the final out when we kick their ass! It’s not even the fact he called us a bad team because we were absolutely dog 💩 at times but to say that after we took 2 from 3 from them as we were starting to look good again makes him look stupid

  6. Buck Martinez knows all about not being good. He was a lousy player with a weak bat who never made his team better. He hung on for years as a backup catcher and made the postseason exactly once – a 1976 Royals team that the Yankees beat. Lifetime OPS+ of 73, and he even sucked the one time they let him pitch with an ERA of 9.00. Oh, and the comment about poor baserunning? Martinez wrote the book on that, stealing 5 bags in 15 attempts over the course of his forgettable career. Yes, folks, old Buck is a true expert on not being good.

  7. I agree with everything he said but fuck that guy, only Yankees fans can talk about the Yankees like that

  8. psychological warfare i get it
ya say they suck enough ya talk it into existence lol
    shit won’t work

  9. We’ll he isn’t completely wrong. The Jays will still lose but the things he said this sub says on the daily. Hardly news at this point

  10. Yankees were in a 3-way tie this season for 20th overall in wild pitches with 53 (next to fellow playoff teams Boston and Seattle). Toronto had 32 for fourth best in major league baseball. But also, who cares? Win this weekend. That’s all that matters.

  11. I mean, at the time this comment was made, he wasn’t wrong…

But we’re a different beast right now

  12. What’s ironic is Buck didn’t lie lol even if it was his own opinion let alone competitive spirit being the play by play man of The Blue Jays but I also said it is ironic as hell that when he made those comments his team wasn’t up more than anywhere between 4-5 games on us…so even with this comment it just only made it look unnecessary but than ultimately cringe because they couldn’t wrap up the Division till the last day & they didn’t even finish with a better record than us lol…

I truly believe we’re likely winning in 4 but I wouldn’t be surprised if we swept them

  13. He doesn’t realize we’re not the same team as we were in the beginning and middle of the season.

Defence is not a problem now. Pitching is also not that big of a problem.

It’s a different team, and we’re not playing good at every area.

  14. Note to Blue Jays fans: we don’t care about your opinions, get out of our sub you whiny, “look at me please root for my team” annoying crybabies

  15. The Blue Jays would go on to lose the Rays 13-0 the next week. 15-1 to Boston two weeks later and 20-1 a few weeks after that to KC.

While some of what he was saying in the moment was true literally every team in baseball has moments like that. It’s a 162 games season where the best teams in baseball have a 9-7 record in equivalent to a football record

  16. How was that different than Michael Kay saying the division winning Blue Jays were not a first place team?

  17. The most annoying voice in all of sports. Hell, in all of broadcasting period! You’re gonna eat your stupid words jackass… YOU’RE ANNOYING 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻 YOU’RE ANNOYING 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻

  18. He would have fit in here all summer.

That said. Go fuck your hand Buck. We coming to beat they asses tomorrow.

  19. Jays manager fired after 55 games and poor start Martinez? That guy? Better than the Blue Jays manager fired for stolen valor I guess

  20. His voice is so irritating. How did he get so far in broadcasting sounding like a cartoon bird.

  21. This quote needs to be on a white board in the middle of the locker room for the entire playoffs.

  22. The Yankees had the 2nd best run differential in baseball. Buck is an idiot player/manager. Having hand-eye coordination, power, and speed has nothing to do with thinking.
