The Yankees Rookie Who Just Shut Down the Red Sox With a Pitching Display for the Ages

  1. Hopefully this can convince some people that yes… pitchers *can* pitch their way through the order more than two times.

  2. This looked like a rare instance of Boone not following the analytics and allowing a young pitcher with a hot hand go 8 innings and 100+ pitches. It paid off.

  3. Not hard to do against a hitting team that strikes out a lot and leaves guys on base a ton.

  4. So the kid got lucky with one big game!

The true test is if he can do this stuff in April or May when the games really matter.

  5. No shade to Dave Roberts, but how do you list him as a post season hero in 2004 but not Ortiz?

  6. He is friends with my little brother hes the nicest and humblest kid. No one deserves it more than him. Our whole hometown was rooting for him even though we are red sox fans. The other kid ben rice i used to play in aau baseball growing up too it felt like a fever dream watching that game last night

  7. Enjoy your press, Yankees. There are more teams in your way to winning the World Series

  8. People talked bad at his mom and dude took that shit extra personal.

Schittler – “You’re dead to me, Boston. Dead!”

  9. It’s one start against a downtrodden team that couldn’t get out of their own way. Next year when he’s 7-14 with a 5+ ERA, remember back to this start so you feel better.

  10. Pretty power move debuting in the post-season, pitching 8 scoreless innings, and doing it all under your real name when your name is Schlittler.

This man is absolutely begging for a major league nickname.
