THE YZERPLAN IS WORKING: THESE DETROIT RED WINGS PROSPECTS ARE INCREDIBLE
[Music] Well, how much can 3 weeks change a narrative? Seems like a lot, doesn’t it? I think we are starting to see what exactly it was Steve Eisermanman was cooking when he kicked off the arandized Eiser plan. Because today, I think it’s pretty fair to say that the Eiser plan probably looks like the best it has ever had. The entire time Steve Eiserman has been a part of the Detroit Red Wings, not as a player, but as a GM. Because yesterday, the Detroit Red Wings had themselves a pre-season game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. And I get it, it’s a preeason game. This doesn’t matter. This was a really insignificant 60 minutes of hockey time. But despite the fact that a preeason game has sparked up this conversation, I think for the first time in years, it’s actually worth having this conversation compared to not because my oh my did the Detroit Red Wings show off heart, determination, grit, skill, and most of all, youthful exuberance. You talk about Eminem and Rap God. Oh yeah, this is exactly what we are talking about here. It’s Detroit, Michigan, baby, coming in there with all of the young prospects making an impact, making things happen. You’ve got EMTT Finny going up one-on-one against Austin Matthews to get empty net goals and Michael Bran Seg new guard setting guys up in front for gamewinners with minutes to go in the third period. It was a really tight game between the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Despite the fact that the Red Wings heavily outshot Toronto, Toronto only had 19 shots on goal. The Red Wings had 42. Yet, the Maple Leafs still found themselves a way to have a one- nothing lead for most of the contest. And this wasn’t like the Marlies either. I mean, you look at the lineup who was available for Toronto. Matthews, Ny, Nlander, McMahon, Tiveres, Doy, Michelli, Wah, Dakota, Joshua, Lton, Lorent. This was essentially their normal team. Now, the Maple Leafs, they had the lead for most of the game, but Detroit ended up on top. And you know what’s funny? Like EMTT Finny ended up scoring the empty net goal. He comes down the wing, he shoots, it’s blocked by Matthews, but then Finny picks up the rebound and buries it in. There was a comment on the R Detroit Red Wings subreddit that I saw. I thought it was hilarious. It was like, “Hey, I can’t remember the last time we scored an empty net goal.” And I was like, “Huh, that’s a pretty sad thing to say about your favorite hockey team, but man, is there some semblance of truth to that.” When you think about where the Detroit Red Wings have been, just the path they’ve gone down the past few years, it was always patience, patience, patience. We got young guys in the system. We got screwed over in the draft lottery. We’ve got this prospect and that prospect and this guy’s showing up very well. This guy’s a firstrounder. He’s going to become good in a few years. This guy’s a seventh rounder. He’s going to be good sooner. It’s always been about the prospects, but now they’re actually on the team and they’re actually making some pretty good things happen in the preeason. Whether or not any of these guys get sent down is outside of my control because I’m recording this audio in the night of Thursday, October 2nd. But for right now, I mean, Axel Sandine Pelica has significantly improved from the start of the preseason up until yesterday. Michael Bransk New Guard is starting to show off some serious NHL maturity. EMTT Finny has gone out there and just taken over every Detroit Red Wings fan’s heart. I mean, this is what we were talking about. The young guys are showing up and they’re actually providing value. How difficult is it going to be to send any of these guys down? And just thinking of the development curve there. EMTT Finny was a seventh round pick 2 years ago. The fact that a seventh round pick looks good enough to play in the National Hockey League is already one thing, but the fact that he was just taken two years prior, that is absolutely astounding. And you can chalk up whatever developmental issues or growth issues he had when he was a teenager as to why he slipped all the way to the seventh round in the first place. But now after significant improvements in the CHL and showing off extraordinarily well in this year’s training camp and preeason, EMTT Finny is so difficult to deny. If he ends up getting sent down, it’s not going to be because the Red Wings don’t believe in him. As long as some of these other young guys start to make the team, I think we’re really going to start seeing that youth movement that Steve Eisermanman was building turn into reality here. Because these young guys, they’re coming into the Red Wings organization. They know the pressure that is on this team. They know how the disappointment has seeped in through this fan base for years. And if there’s anybody that’s going to go out there and want to prove anybody wrong, it’s these young guys that are truly starting to make an impact and that are coming for the jobs of guys like JT Comfort and Jonathan Bergrren. Guys who for the most part have been outworked. I would say nobody in the Red Wings lineup, especially on forward, should be should be guaranteed to have a spot. Of course, you got Larkin, Raymond, Kane, even etc. But some of these other guys, even Res Muen Burgers, it’s difficult to see that they are more impactful and more useful to the Detroit Red Wings than some of these other younger dudes that are truly making a positive impression. Now, not to mention the fact that JVR’s absence also makes this very difficult because it’s like, yeah, I think he probably gets a spot, but like the fact that he hasn’t been there really makes it difficult to evaluate whether or not he should be first line left wing or middle six left wing, something like that. EMTT Finny playing alongside a Raymond and Larkin. If you wanted to get an underdog Calder contender, place your bets on EMTT Finny. Is he challenging Ivan Demidov? Is he challenging Zeve boo? There definitely is a conversation that I think we can have about that. And you could talk about cap space. You can talk about burying money. You can talk about Rasbusen and Comer and their cap hits. But I guess with the way the Detroit Red Wings have built themselves over the past few years, it was about time Steve Eiserman started to get value on ELC’s, right? Like, yeah, it took a while for the Red Wings to fully get these first Steve Eisermanman draft picks into the lineup. Cider and Raymond, they took a little bit of time, but they inevitably became top tier Red Wings. They’re stars. You just kind of needed everybody else to step up to the plate. Albert Johansson has been an underrated pickup. Simone Edson, as long as he stays healthy, he’ll be there and he’ll be square. Sebastian Kosa, you can debate whether or not he’s actually going to be a Redwing long term. But then all these other guys too. Brans Nugard, Casper, Sandine Pelica, Danielson, even we haven’t spoken a word about Danielson in this video. And then EMTT Finny. All the guys that you want to see challenge for spots are doing that. And the Eizer plan for the first time in years is actually looking like it’s going to yield positive results. And I say for the first time in years because this is what the plan was about. It was about those young guys. It was about the retooling, reshaping the team from the old to the young and allowing these guys to carry it forward. Two years ago, or I guess you could say last year, two seasons ago instead, when the Red Wings barely missed out on the playoffs, that was good. But a lot of folks would say that that wasn’t necessarily the roster that should have been able to do that. It was put together with veteran names and you can debate whether or not these guys were actually meaningful pieces into the long term and you know a lot of Red Wings fans would have wanted to see them make the playoffs. It’s just they ended up faltering thanks to John Tordella pulling the goalie. But with this in mind we’re at a different point in the Red Wings timeline and the Eiser plan is looking better than ever. As long as this momentum carries into the regular season, I think we’re going to have a lot more to cheer about as Red Wings fans compared to years prior. And yes, I’m making this video off the heels of a win over the Toronto Maple Leafs, essentially the regular Maple Leafs team. If you enjoy this video at any point, feel free to hit the like button. If you did not, then hey, the dislike button is down there for you as well. Comments help out with the algorithm, so I’d really appreciate it if you got involved in the conversation there. Things do look pretty promising right now. Tired of impatient people and trash talkers dragging Mr. Y's name through the mud, even when he tells you directly what his plan is for the team. I'm sure the criticism won't settle down until they make the playoffs, so hopefully that comes this year.
As a wings fan I find myself with this new found excitement. We have been set up great financially. The fact our two top forwards are making around the same money as kaprizov combined is a great sign that this team is going to be extremely deep compared to other teams in these next few years. I’m still nervous for Montreal and New Jersey though. They have also been cooking with their contracts
Imho the plan has always been about the summer of 2026 with the wings.
Imagine all of these kids coming into their own and joining the team in the same summer that the wings have an estimated $44 mil of available cap space and only $50 mil of used space.
They can easily afford to sign all of their young players and any free agent that may come available, even a McDavid (not that i expect that. I dont see edmonton letting him go.)
Wait, you mean to tell me people are impatient and refuse to see the forest through the trees? I’m stunned…
I hate to be that guy, but well, here we go. Please get MBN’a name right. It’s pronounced “KNEE-guard” not “NEW-guard”
Don’t sleep on Lombardi. He had some brilliant moments in the preseason. A little more development and he could surprise people
In my opinion the Blackhawks rebuild looks more promising
I've seen this from plenty of young talent that was the so called fix here in detroit. It takes a whole group of good talent to turn around a franchise. We still got a few years to wait I think but that just me. If we trade some assets for assets maybe we get there sooner. I think the tigers and wings are in the same mold. Good young talent and lots of it eventually coming up.
The Yzerplan HAS been working. He was saddled with the worst roster in the league AND one of the bottom 3 farm systems. He has rebuilt the farm system without having to trade future picks or assets. While we dropped a couple of points last year, he also has the BEST Cap space starting next season ($44m) when all the best FAs will be available.
Be patient, folks. This is gonna pop soon.
The problem with The Yzerplan is people demanded the team make the playoffs ASAP, rather than actually wait to see the plants bear fruit. We're starting to see some of that fruit now. The real question is, will they manage to surprise everyone and make it? Will they live in a playoff spot until March Sadness rolls around again? Or will they persevere, break the curse, and make it? Time will tell.
so the plan is working because they won a pre season game in october lol
no the plan sucks, enjoy missing the playoffs again 🤣🤣🤣
ASP, MBN and Finnie are going to be major difference makers
No, the plan works because many prospects are taking the next step.
When does this actually translate into a playoff appearance? That's the wrong question. The right question is: how good will this team be when it reaches its peak? If that is good enough to win at least one Stanley Cup, then I am willing to wait through a few more non-playoff years if necessary to get there.
LOL, "the "Yzerplan is working" this is year 7! In less time, Florida has been rebuilt into a dynasty and been to three straight final and won 2. We haven''t even made the playoffs in 6 years. I hope after 6 years of drafting, fee agent signings and trades you will see improvement. Most GM's would have been fired by now, and as you kind of pointed out. This is PRE-season. the team is 4-3 and playing against mainly other teams back ups and farm system. This is really reaching looking for something to be happy about. we will still have Larkin, DeBrincat, Raymond, Kane, Compher, Rasmussen, Copp, Kasper, Appleton, Soderblom, JVR and Berggren in their lineup to start the season. Probably we will see Berggren's spot go in and out to try one of the young guys. But unless they move someone that's pretty much our starting unit. Maybe they will pull JVR from the line up at some point. But Yzerman has shown if he pays a guy, he plays them. Which is why Holl played 73 games last year and Chiarot keeps getting rolled out there. Maybe pump the breaks on the Yzerplan working. The 2008 Detroit Lions went 4-0 in preseason and then went 0-16 in the regular season.
Finnie is gonna make it. Expect MBN and ASP to be up with the Wings next season. Lots of contracts expiring. Bottom of playoffs this season and then the climb begins next season. Its coming.
Yzerman hitting on late round draft picks is exactly what this team, and fanbase, needed. A good General Manager will make safe to good early round picks. A great GM will find gems in the late rounds and develop them properly, which Yzerman has done.
Excited to see young prospects pushing to break into the lineup
The Wings are the greatest hockey team in the world… When it doesn't matter.
Don’t forget about my dawg Mazur
Sorry, Lego, but this is like, no sh__! It has always been a matter of time; real fans knew that.
Henrik Zetterberg was taken in the seventh round! MBN, ASP, and Fin all need to be on the ice opening night.
