Wild Card Game 3 Recap | NEW YORK YANKEES 2025

[Music] Do or die. Winner take all. Game three could come down to one pitch, one swing at the bat. And it begins with a unique starting pitching matchup. Yeah, it begins with the two starters in this ball game. Two rookies who are going to take the mound in a do or die game. And if you’re the Yankees, you’re thinking the bullpens are going to be a big part of this game. But if you can win the starting pitching matchup and have your starter go deeper into the ball game than the opposing starter, that is going to be a huge advantage. Are there any signs from Cam that you might look for, see early, anything just to kind of know where he’s at or that might be good or bad? I don’t expect to see anything different than usual. He’s got a really good way about him. Um, really confident kid. He expects to go out there and and and pitch well. steps into the line. He wants to catch a break. Break three call in the outside corner. One, two, three in the first. A fine stock for Cam Slidler. See what count can bring to the table for the Boston Red Sox. And Rosario under the glove scoring up left. Here comes Bellinger. Here’s the throw and he’s in there. When Rosario comes through, does it allow everyone to exhale a little bit? Yeah, absolutely. You know, in a tight game, winner go home. Everyone knows that Rosario delivers. The Yankees have a one- nothing lead. And the pitch swing and fights it through right side and it gets through. Stanton scores. Bumpy delivers an RBI single. It’s two nothing Yankees. What moment early on in this game did you feel fully in control and unstoppable? Yeah. Swinging a miss. That was a good pitch right there. I knew exactly what I need to do and go out there, especially against my hometown team. So, I wasn’t going to let him beat me. It was like he unlocked another character in himself. And uh you know, he does that on his start days, but today was today was different. A dirty dozen for Sch Slitler as Gonzalez is gone. I mean, what a performance with Schlit rolling the way that he was, just trying to do everything I could to get out for him. And Durant pops it up, giving chase and making the catch and flipping into the Red Sox dugout. What a catch by McMahon. Ryan McMahon Airborne coming in against the Red Sox. it was going to be a different kind of series just cuz it is them and they’ve out they’ve played you tough historically and gotten the better of you guys a number of times. Is it more special because it was them? [Music] Yeah. Um you go into that best of three and it’s it’s pressure filled, you know. It’s like and it’s against a team that you know so well and is your rival and they win game one. You know, these guys just kept playing. Honestly, going into the night for me personally, like it felt like as pressure packed game as I’ve ever been in. Boys answered the bell and and played great baseball these last couple days. Blue Jays next. What needs to happen for you guys to advance against the Blue Jays? Let’s keep playing our game. Uh, you know, they had our number in the regular season. You know, it’s kind of like the Red Sox. They had our number in the regular season. People wanted to talk about that, but we just got to focus on what we can do and go out there, play our game. Uh, I like our chances.

Wild Card won. ALDS up next.

  1. That was one of the most dominant pitching performances I have ever seen in the playoffs and I've been a Yankees fan for 30 years. I mean, I never even sweat at all. Just absolute domination from 1 to 8. Incredible.
