  1. We’re not getting anywhere as long as arte and carpino are around tbh. We could have Friedman and we’d still be ass

  2. Has Perry said anything of substance to the press ever? The last time I remember anything honest was Billy Eppler saying he literally fell to the ground when he got the Ohtani phonecall.

Eppler was just ok as a GM but he didn’t do mush mouth yes-man nonsense, he had charisma and energy.

  3. Is Minasian the best GM out there? Absolutely not. Having said that, the caveat with him, as with the last 4 or 5 before him, is that he is not the one calling any of the shots.

  4. Coaches are often the scapegoat of bad GM’s. We are past the point of knowing Ron was not the problem and its ownership and even the GM. We are so ass.

  5. Nonsense, Perry has had no problem addressing his own performance before:

    > “It was a tough decision to make, but it was something that we felt like needed to happen,” Minasian said. “We didn’t win enough games. And that’s something that in sports, when you have certain expectations and you don’t meet those expectations, you make changes. Does that mean Phil is to blame? He’s not. No, it’s all of us. Me, first and foremost. I have to do a better job putting this club together.”

But that was two years ago. And still, nothing has changed. Perry knows he failed to do a better job putting the club together. And now he’s too embarrassed to answer the question.

  6. Look, I’m not Perry’s biggest fan, but it’s obvious neither he or the manager is the reason we’re losing. That said, Blum is a clown. What is Perry supposed to say? “Yeah, I suck, I dunno why Arte doesn’t fire me and become the GM himself”? It’s a deliberately obnoxious question that only serves to be provocative without any point.

  7. Minasian isn’t a good or bad gm. Hes a fake gm. Arte is a bad owner and the organization is not equipped to do good things so maybe forget about worrying about it. Until arte changes fundamentally, expect a losing team, and a carousel of coaches and gms.

  8. He gets so pissy and defensive whenever he’s asked a direct, honest question. A real leader.

  9. Seriously fuck him. Have some accountability man. Even something generic like “I’ve made missteps and I need to be better.” How hard is that?

  10. I haven’t read the full meeting but man, this organization man.

I feel like a far better first question would be something like:

“Ron Washington was let go for job performance. The team showed improvement in the win column from last year. What expectations were placed on Washington that weren’t met that made you feel like a change was needed?” It makes total sense to move on from Washington considering he probably can’t physically handle another season, but typically you see some sort of mutual statement about it.

Also, that second answer just frustrates me. Plenty of people have had to do self evaluations. Perry can’t just come out and say something like:

“We were hoping to be in x position by the end of this year, but clearly didn’t make it. Going into this offseason I hope to make these steps to get this team to y level.”

  11. I’ve always been in Perry’s corner but this is upsetting to read. Take accountability!

To completely fail and not come close to meeting expectations and just say “I’m not worried about that. I’m worried about going forward” would get someone fired 10/10 times under most circumstances and it’s disrespectful at best when he doesn’t acknowledge how he hasn’t delivered on anything

  13. when do the angels extend hollywood lifestyle … 3/126M ? bc baseball’s such a priority for him

  14. The players that were hired by the GM and the president of baseball operations that keeps hiring these shitty GM’s. Look for a seasoned one with a great staff if analytical people and put money into better scouting. Get out of the way of each other and stay in your lanes!!!!

  15. We’re just mid to bad. We’re not equipped in any way (especially if rumors are true about the Pujols treadmill ordeal) to create a good team if we rely solely on good FA signings which they all were at the time, but Arte is too lax of an owner to care about maintenance beyond that. Simply too much talent to say Perry or any other GM was the problem. Everything starts at the top, including accountability and we’ll Arte is all of that. In fact when is the last time this dude was even remotely seen around the team or stadium(s)? I’d like to blame Perry or Eppler, Dipoto even but look at what they’ve all done since leaving, players included. Perry tried but I really feel like Arte hinders way, way more than we think or feel. Like, there’s no way you draft all pitchers and hear nothing about any of them. It may be a scouting issue, sure, but I feel it’s an organizational thing. You can’t draft all these players and have them all be duds, you’d eventually have to understand it’s a development issue and if Arte can’t shore up money at all levels to improve from the bottom up, well then, again it starts from the top. Dude’s pushing 80 and worth like $7 billion, even a fraction of that going towards development vs FA signings you’d see signs of improvement, but it’s been years since .500 baseball for us, I’m not trying to say Perry isn’t off the hook, but come on now. You recognize Trout as someone to open the pocketbooks for but not Ohtani? That’s just dumb on everyone’s part, especially Arte if he “isn’t about deferment, credit card like transaction). I know it’s a lot to digest but at this point it’s like 99.7% Arte. That’s not even including the Skaggs or stadium lease stuff.

  16. I mean do we expect anything different? We all know until arte sells this team is going to be mid at best

  17. Zero accountability. Which means we should expect the same level of competence we’ve been seeing
