Calais Campbell and Trey Benson Postgame Media | Week 3 vs 49ers | AZ Cardinals

you know, like the next one’s just as big as this one. So, you know, it is what it is. But we just got to put this one behind us, move forward, and and try to find a way to get this next one. The goal line stand, the pick, the safety, are you able to take away the positives from this defense despite a loss like that at the end? Yeah, you try to. I mean, this is one of those games where you don’t really get to even like, you know, like break it down cuz, you know, we play on Thursday, so we won’t even watch the tape really, you know, uh, you know, watch on your own and stuff, but we won’t even talk through it. And so, I mean, we just got to move on. But, there was a lot of good plays out there, you know. I think we’ve shown a lot of really good ball out there today. But they just made the plays to win it and that’s football, you know, but all it really means is we won’t be undefeated. I believe this team has a lot of heart, you know, a lot of character, a lot of fight and uh you know, I know where we’ll respond. What do you think of Mac Wilson’s play out there? I mean, he’s he’s a great linebacker. You know, I said at the beginning during camp, you know, I expect him to have a huge year and nothing changed. You know, he’s just a physical guy that sets the tone, plays silent to sideline, great range, you know, knack for the ball. I mean, he’s elite. I’m happy he’s in my foxhole. You know, I’m happy we’re teammates. Is this the way you guys wanted though to have the game kind of falling? You guys stopped him one last time. Having having a lead at the end of the game is always what you want, you know, and uh you know, I mean, this business, everything comes down to the last drive, you know, and you know, we got to find a way to to get off the field there, you know, but you got to take your hat off to them, you know. Coach, you know, coach Shahan called a, you know, great game plan and uh, you know, they made the plays in the moments, you know, uh, but, you know, we fought hard and we made some plays and this is definitely one where you’re like, it sucks. Wish we could have got it, but you know, like all you know, we ain’t going to dwell on it too much. Move on. You know, and there’s some guys that, you know, like, you know, you definitely could see like some frustration and, you know, being mad because it means something to them. And that’s important. You want guys where it means something to them. But at the same time, my job as a captain is to, you know, keep everything solid. You know, when we win, don’t let them get too high. When we lose, don’t let them get too low. And keep focus, you know, keep the main thing as our focus, you know, and really that’s one of the next one, you know. uh a long time ago uh you know playing here Bruce Argus always say you know good teams don’t lose two in a row you know and and you know I mean that’s not always true but you know but in this business you know like the next one is the most important you know getting back into the win column getting back to you know playing some good ball you know that’s all that matters you lo I was just gonna say you lost one of your captains and James Connor just what was the emotions like on the sideline when you saw that happen? Yeah. Um I mean he’s such a just an inspirational player, you know, like I mean one of my favorite teammates, you know, seeing him go down, you know, is definitely uh just, you know, it’s heartbreaking because I know how hard he works. I know how much this game means to him, you know, already in his life what he’s overcome, you know, just to be out here. You know, I mean, he’s one of the most inspiring players I’ve ever been around. And so your, you know, your heart breaks for him, but um you know, I mean, I know who he is in his heart. you know, he’s going to just get back to, you know, whatever whatever situation is, you know, he’s going to go through it and come on other side stronger. What goes into being the RB1 in terms of preparation, being physical, being ready mentally? Feel like I’ll be prepared for, you know, I had six, you know, to get me to this moment right here. and I feel like I’ll be ready for the the task. Sorry if you already answered this, but what did that moment just kind of do to emotionally change the dynamic? It was kind of like uh when I’m back at Florida State when my quarterback went down with the leg injury. It was like 11 and0 and it was probably like that feeling right there. Um you hate to see especially him when the team leader go down and um it was hard you know I thought about the rest of the game but we’ll do it for him the rest of the season. Yeah, it seemed like you guys responded really quickly after that. Uh just what was it like to see that spark and those explosives come after that? I mean we needed it, you know, for sure. You know, it gave us hope and you know, mentally, you know, we was down, but you know, we needed that spark, you know, to keep going and execute plays. Uh being on the sidelines when the game comes to an end, your defense out there, I mean, what what’s going through your mind when you’re watching the game? Um I was, you know, hoping they get the stop. You know, they always get to stop, but you know, teams get us at times, but you know, we’ll we’ll watch for them and work on it, make sure it happen again. And Trey, short week, Thursday night game. Just uh how do you guys approach this week? Really just taking care of our body, you know, the health bucket part of it. U make sure we’re prepared and, you know, ready for Thursday for another divisional game.

  1. Kyler needs to go. Paying all that money with nothing to show for. Cards were up 2 points with less than 4 minutes on the clock and couldn't run the clock out.

Then when he did make a play receivers dropped several balls. Too many balls behind receivers.

Play calling was atrocious. If I can look at this offence and know where the ball is going, I'm sure the 49ers could as well.

Defense played their butts off. So, hats off to them.

  2. 🤣🤣🤣

I mean its ONLY their 1rst loss so whats the probo??

Its the 49ers what do ya expect??

YaH the 49ers are depleted by injuries but their BIGGEST WINNING difference is Robert FREAKING SALEH!!

Thats why cardinals beat the 49ers at all last season 😅😅

  3. Cards are 3-0! In being unable to sustain game closing drives😂 So close to being 0-3. Everyone can be happy about 2-1 but if we are counting on the defense to close out games because the offense can't we are in trouble.

  4. Drew has to go he couldn’t call a middle school flag football game. He is clueless our offense again is so vanilla, basic and easy to predict! We need to run an offense like the buccs do with Baker.

  5. 3rd year of predictable offensive that got JC hurt because Drew cant scheme a real game. Fans deserve better and it sounds like JG wants to go down with his OC
