Luke Weaver was asked how tough it is to struggle so much now given how much success he had the past two years with the Yankees:

  1. Unfortunately Luke it can be about how you exit. We needed showmanship. Keep the people wanting more. Right now you’re farting on the way out and we could be left with the stink

  2. Feel bad for him. He’s trying to stay strong mentally, but anyone watching can see he’s been cooked since July. He’ll always be remembered as Psycho Weaver to me. Can’t use him in any important spots going forward.

    Best of luck, Luke!

  3. The fuck is he supposed to say? He’s been awful. He knows that. What is rubbing his nose in it going to accomplish?

  4. Unfortunately he’s struggling at the worst possible time. He doesn’t have it, they just can’t go to him anymore in these playoffs, period.

Weaver’s been in this spot before and he’s come back from it. He had a good first half this season but his 4 seamer is not cutting it anymore and he doesn’t have enough pitches in his arsenal to compensate. He might be able to figure it out again in the off-season but right now he’s no longer a legit option.

  5. Not on Luke—-on Judge and Stanton—struck out with horrible at bats. Hang in their Weaver.

  6. It’s so hard to see this from someone who went through the month of April with a 0.00 era. He’ll find himself again, but man it’s hard for someone I loved watching pitch

  7. I don’t want to give up on him but he can’t pitch meaningful innings going forward this postseason. If we’re losing big he can eat some innings.

  8. He’s cost us two games now. Unless he improves, I don’t want to hear it. And it sucks, because I like him.

  9. I don’t think I’ve ever heard Luke speak before.

Idk what I thought he sounded like, but it wasn’t this.

  10. Stop pitching him in the 7th. He has a 6.26 era in the 7th inning. 8th and 9th is a 2.7 and 2.0 respectively

  11. Wish I could put my arm around this guy and have a few drinks with him. I’d fix this guy. We scored one run. It ain’t on Weavedog that we lost

  12. It’s postseason baseball in New York. You have to deliver. That’s the expectation.

  13. If he pitches a clean inning in his next outing, his post-season ERA will still be 45.00. Right now, it’s infinite.

  14. As soon as he threw his first pitch of the game, I knew it was a problem. When he misses fastball location by that much, he’s got nothing for the hitters.

  15. He said a comment about velocity. Like, no one cares if you’re throwing hard. 97 is nice when it lands in the cathers mitt not in the outfield or worse, the stands.

  16. Well, I would be shocked if he comes back next season, so perhaps that’s what he needs. A fresh start elsewhere.
