Canucks fans are absolutely LOVING this right now…

All right, look, I understand it’s still preseason and the games don’t matter, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t encouraged by what I saw from this team tonight. The Vancouver Conucks looked absolutely dialed as they took down a full flame squad. They weren’t missing a single forward or defenseman. The only person that wasn’t there was their goalender, Dustin Wolf. This was more an audition for the backup between Devin Kulie and Prosvetov. And I think it’s pretty safe to say that both goalenders weren’t that great. The Vancouver Conucks handled them easily, scoring eight goals over the course of three periods. The Canucks did have a lot of their star power in the lineup, but they were missing some notable names such as Vander Kane, Phil Heel, Braden Coots, Jonathan Leer Macki, and among the Canucks players that were in the lineup, it wasn’t like it was the same guys getting all the points. I think there were seven different goal scorers tonight for the Vancouver Conucks. You love to see that. One thing I wanted to point out from foot that I’ve noticed is that on the penalty kill when the Canucks get the puck, the second forward without the puck just takes off on the counterattack. They got numerous breakaways in this game just because of the small adjustment. Two short-handed goals as well. Another thing I’m liking is the defenseman jumping up on the play to join the rush to give the Conucks oddman rushes. You saw Derek Forbert score that goal in the first period. You saw Quinn Hughes in the third period also jump up with Besser to make a beautiful goal. It was great to see. My first start of the game though was Max Sass and he had two goals, two penalties that he took as well. But he was getting active. He might have just solidified that fourth line spot that was open between him, Carlson, and Baines. I think Sassin right now is taking the lead as the front runner to grab it. Before the preseason started, I had Carlson, but if they’re limited to only giving out one spot, it might be slipping away from him. I think that Sassin honestly deserves it at this point. Same with Ratu. I think he solidified himself with that third line center role after getting another goal today. He hit the post as well right before, but he’s looked great and I’m happy about that because I think that he’s going to be a very good player. But yeah, with that being said, let’s talk about the game. But before we get to that, quick shout out from the sponsor of today’s video, Daire Affair. They’re a local spot right here in British Columbia with over 20 locations. They specialize in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine with its signature being its donaire wraps, platters, falafel, and other similar dishes that you’ll love. And I’m gearing up with them this upcoming kuck season because honestly, they’re becoming one of my favorites. I always go for their chicken and beef wrap. It’s loaded with fresh veggies, creamy taziki, garlic, and hot sauce. Just beautiful stuff. I’m telling you, you have to try it. And here’s the best part. If you stop by and let them know you came from my videos, you’ll get 20% off your final order. It really doesn’t get much better than that. Support local, eat fresh, and trust me, once you try Donara Fair, you will be just as hooked as I am. I’ll leave a link with their locations. Check them out. They’re all over BC. But with that, let’s get back to the video. So, early on, and here is what I’m talking about. Person takes a penalty, connects to the penalty kill, Sherwood strips the puck, and immediately O’ Conor is running to the center of the ice to see the open space. He gets a pass on a breakaway. He can’t get it by Prosvetov, but still love to see it later. It’s the Conucks on another breakaway. This time it’s Quinn Hughes to Brock Besser who goes in and makes no mistake. Fires it by Prosvetov to make it one- nothing for the Canucks. Lankin has to make a great save here on Hubo who gets a breakaway. And then it’s Vancouver to the power play. Quinn Hughes over to Leas Person and that shot right there. That is what I want to see every single game this upcoming season. Pety’s looked great through the two games that he’s played. Hopefully he can keep it up and keep getting better as the games go on. But again, love to see where he’s at. Tyler Myers gets a puck later on from the blue line, fires one off of a flame and it goes by Provetto to make it a three nothing lead for the Canucks. But that’s not it. Derek Forward jumps up on this play here. Another Canucks penalty kill. Connor Garland feeds it to him and he makes no mistake to make it 4 nothing for Vancouver. As we head to the first intermission, the Flames in the second score a goal that is very offside, but it counts and it doesn’t really matter, so give it to them. Anyway, Sassin gets a puck right after, goes through the neutral zone, plays a one-two with the bruss, gets it back and puts it by Prozettov to make it a 51 score line. Later, it’s Atu Ratu on the dying seconds of this power play here. Goes short side here and beats the Flames net minder to make it a 6 to1 game. It’s just turned into a beating at this point. I’ll go straight to the third period where Brock Besser and Quinn Hughes connect for this very nice goal here. Twoon one and Quinn Hughes tucks it through the legs of Devin Culie to make it 7 to one. But that’s not where this game ends. Another twoon-one here. This time it’s Arch Deep Baines and Max Assassin. Baines with a nice play here. I take back my words. He actually played pretty good today despite what I’ve said about him in previous videos. He plays it to Sassin who makes no mistake makes it 8 to1 and the Canucks take it very convincingly. They’re looking very good as they have one more preseason game to go before the regular season starts. Give me your thoughts and your top three stars of the game in the comment section down below. Thank you all so much for watching. Make sure you subscribe if you’re new. Peace out and take care. [Music]

The Vancouver Canucks played great against the Celgary Flames in NHL preseason action. Elias Pettersson, Max Sasson, Quinn Hughes and Brock Boeser all looked great in an 8-1 victory. Let me know your confidence levels for this Canucks team as they prepare for the regular season.

  1. They're the same players we had last season—pretty much only Kane is new. But Foote has really done a good job of getting them to buy into what he wants. They look so different—it’s like an entirely new team!

  2. my lines atm:

    Kane Petterson Boeser
    Debrusk Chytil Lekeremakki
    Sherwood Raty Garland
    O'Connor Bleuger Sasson
    Extra: Karlsson

    Hughes Hronek
    MPetey Myers
    DPetey Mancini
    Extra: Willander, Forbort

    Demko
    Lankinen

  3. One of the best adjustments Tocchet made when he came in was getting the defense in on the offense. When Canucks were leading the division by the midway point, the defense collectively were at the top of the league in points and chances. FFW one year later, they would have been in the basement if not for Hughes. Glad to see the signs the Canucks will tap into what made them so lethal 2 years ago.

  4. This might be a hot take but I like preseason hockey. You get to watch a handful of games against division/conference rivals, it feels good to see your team win, and you don’t get mad if they lose.

  5. I was at the game, and they looked dangerous. I don't think there was a moment through the whole thing that it seemed like they weren't obviously in the driver's seat. I'm excited for the regular season!

  6. Every prepubescent punk making hockey breakdowns now? Never thought Ron McLean would sound good but congratulations Ron the Rat these internet turds are making you palatable.
