James Reimer | Post Game @ Detroit Red Wings | October 4, 2025
first time wearing that sweater in a game since 2016. Just what was it like being out there again in a in a Leaf’s game? Uh yeah, no, it was fun. It was fun. I mean, uh yeah, obviously it’s an exhibition game and and um you know, I thought overall I felt I felt pretty good. Made a couple uh made a couple mistakes, but um you know, you try and give yourself some grace and it’s your first uh first touch in a while. So um you know, I thought uh I thought I was able to settle in pretty quick and and uh was seeing the puck for the most part. So, um, yeah, but it was fun. It’s fun to put the sweater on again. Were there any nerves just cuz it had been a while and, uh, it was first game back here. Uh, yeah. I mean, honestly, it’s I think anytime you you play a game, there’s a little bit of nerves. I think that uh that means that you uh enjoy what you do and you take it seriously. So, um, but yeah, no, it was fun fun to put your jersey back on. Fun to play a bunch of guys obviously I played with and so um, you know, wish uh, you know, you wish you would have won. Uh it doesn’t matter if it’s a scrimmage exhibition or or a playoff game. You will you play to win. But um you know uh it uh it felt good felt good to get back out there and um I was pretty happy with with where my game was at for the most part. Was there an exchange with Larkin at the end there? Uh yeah. No, he was just he just said something nice and so um you know I wish he would have not scored and and not said something nice but um no it was uh no he’s I play with him. He’s a great captain, great guy and uh you know wish him wish him all the best. What did you like about how you felt and then obviously some goals go in, you don’t you don’t win, but uh what did you like about how you felt? Uh yeah, I mean I like, you know, how how quickly I settled in. Um I felt I felt actually pretty much up to speed right from the get-go. So I mean, you know, I’ve been practicing hard and working hard this this last week. So I think it’s probably a testament to that. Um and then I thought just overall just um reading the play for the most part and and and seeing pucks, the game game didn’t feel uh too fast out there. And so I think um I think sometimes when you haven’t played in a while uh the game can feel kind of fast and I thought I I settled in nicely and was able to to get to my spot for the most part. What did you make of Hill to be tonight? Um yeah, I thought he played really well. Um like I said this morning, he’s a big kid. Um I think he moves well. He sees the game well. I think uh his game is pretty calm and so um yeah, I think I think he’s got a bright future. You don’t see a six on three very often. Like what’s it like in that when you’re dealing with that? Uh yeah. No, I mean honestly, you’re just trying to, you know, you try to read the play as much as possible. You kind of see what what options are out there and then, um, you know, you just try and let the puck tell you where it’s going to go. You try not to overthink it. Um, just look at it and and usually it tells you where it’s going to go. So, um, and you just follow it. Now that the preseason’s done, what’s the next 24 to 48 hours before you do look over the tape or do you talk to management? How do you approach the next couple days here? Uh, that’s a great question. I’m not quite sure. I’m going to take it minute by minute, I guess, and and we’ll see what uh we’ll see what happens. I think like I said early on in the week. Um, you know, it was it was a it was a joy to come here and and we’ll see we’ll see what happens um you know, what decisions get made and and what the need is and what the what they think uh you know, they need going forward. So, we’ll uh we’ll see how that goes and and uh yeah, we’ll find out together.

James was good 5 on 5 when he wasn't being hung out to dry with all those penalties lol
I saw the leafs were winning 5-2 or something and I had assumed they won. LOOOOOOOOOOOOL
