And this week, moving the game forward. Mazda move and be moved. Uh the Arizona Cardinals lose this game. I don’t know if they lost it or if the Titans won it. It’s probably a little bit of both. Uh in this game, quick recap. Cardinals de Marcato had a chance to score, decided he wasn’t really interested in that. Threw the ball in the back of the end zone. Uh Titans go down and score. The Arizona Cardinals end up, you know, punting it again. Titans go down, throw an interception, but the first interception that turned to be a touchdown for the opposing team. And then after that, soon after, Joey Sly hit what was a 12- yard field goal to win this game. We are picking up the pieces here on the Cardinal Squad show. Clancy, instant reactions. Go for it. I mean, at least one person’s getting fired. Like, this isn’t And you know, we joked and I talked last week about how I was going to sell my, you know, sell my condo and all that stuff. Like, um, this can’t happen. Um, and I think that’s pretty obvious. And the way that it happened, this is coaching institutional failure. Kyler Murray wasn’t great. They went up 21-3. Amari Marcato fumbling the ball on the goal line is the most Arizona Cardinal thing ever. Not to be outdone by the Charlie Chaplain comedic performance of the DBs not being able to wrangle the ball after Deller Demerson intercepted it resulting in a Tyler Locket touchdown. This game is a fireball offense. I don’t care who goes, but something needs to happen. Or let me put it this way. If they say at all, I’m not too worried about anything in the postgame press conference, immediately. Get rid of them. This is the biggest joke of an organization over the last, you know, eight quarters that I can remember my nine seasons hosting this show. Disappointing. Uh, and you know, yeah, we joked about this um earlier in the week and I had thought that we would have a first close half or excuse me, a close Yeah, a close first half of the game and it turned out being the opposite. Like we were all good in the first half and then things just kind of started to spiral in the second half. But this is kind of what I talked about. I mean, the Cardinals don’t have that step on your neck mentality in their in their organization, and there’s times where they play down to their competition and it just would so happen to be the Titans who are winless and looking for, you know, any advantageous situation to get a dub. And, uh, it’s just disappointing. I think um all around it’s I mean you can’t even feel good about the first half you know it because the Titans should have never been in the game like it it’s just a disappointing uh loss for sure. So one thing though the problem is we’re only five weeks into a season. Okay, it’s only going to get tougher. And this is why when people said this is the easy part of the schedule, said this is an this is the NFL and the Cardinals don’t deserve to say this is the easy part of anything and this is like I thought the Cardinal should have won by two touchdowns. They were in line to um didn’t happen. But like going it’s easy to say fire everybody. Then what? Who’s going to take over? Like who’s going to take over play calling? A first time play caller. That’s great. Um why do I care Clancy? Why do I care? Why? Like if I if I told you I have experience flying a plane, but only time I’ve ever flown it is straight into the ground, but the other person next to me doesn’t have any experience. Why does it matter? That’s that’s my point. I think a lot of people are asking that question. Why do I care if Drew Petting question to ask? If Drew If Drew Petting like if Drew Petting gets fired and we’re like, and I agree with you, no one on this team has has any uh experience calling plays, why do I care? Why do I care? It can’t get any worse than what I’m seeing right now. Like, what is he gonna do? Do the do the things worse than Drew Petting’s doing? And it’s not just Drew. Like, I don’t want to just blame Drew. It’s everyone. But that’s my point. The grass isn’t always greener in the middle of this fight that they’re in. I do think that like if Drew Pson got fired, I this is the first time I’d be like, “Okay, I guess roll with it. See what happens.” But you’re not firing Jonathan Ganon. You’re not firing um you’re not getting rid of Kyler Murray. not benching Kyler Murray. This is the bed that’s been made for 2025 and then I guess you restart for people who want to get rid of Kyler Murray. What’s a better option? You want to look at the college football players? Yeah, they suck this year. There’s no NFL quarterback in the bunch and then you want to trade for a good quarterback. The teams that have them won’t trade them. So, it’s it’s not as simple as get rid of everybody. There needs to be some sort of contingency plan. Um, just really quick because I I did uh interrupt you there for a second. Uh, this is so there’s these things obviously in life and especially in sports teams called culture wins where I think years ago where the Arizona Cardinals went into Philly with Michael Carter and Kyler Murray and they knocked the Eagles out of the one seed. Like that was a culture win. You clearly saw the trajectory of this team going up even though they had lost like 10 games that year. They had you had seen the proverbial turning of the page. This was a culture loss and I don’t know if it’s fixable. I don’t know if you’re Jonathan Ganon if this is fixable. I think some losses are just hard to undo when you are not Bill Bichc and have six rings to ease back on or Andy Reid if he lost a a miserable game like the Cardinals and you’re like that dude’s got a couple of different Super Bowls. What does Jonathan Ganon have to show for? Because he has not changed. Like I’m sick. I know I went after Petting a second ago, but I’m so sick of blaming Drew Petting. This is so clearly a Jonathan Ganon issue at this point where on third and eight when this team had a chance to put the game away with another first down, they ran the ball with one of their undersized running backs because all of them are injured at this point and the you saw the Boobirds come down. Everyone in the stadium knew they were losing that game outside of Jonathan Ganon. Like at this point, I don’t care if they fire Ganon. I don’t care if they fire anyone. Monty Austin’s draft picks don’t look good right now. We were sold a bag of goods. We were We were sold a bag of goods and this is this is a catastrophic failure and if we don’t call it out for exactly what it is, it will continue to rear its head all season long and for the rest of the Cardinal eternity. I think firing Jonathan Ganon at this point is ridiculous. Like I don’t think that we’re there yet. If it’s if they go two and five going into the buy and then lose I think they have Dallas and they lose to Dallas in week nine and you’re looking at two and six f we can have a conversation like unfortunately the season is still salvageable so that means that people won’t most likely not lose their jobs. J sorry I’m talking all over you like you’ve been so I’ve been on I’ve been on teams that have had a a head coach fired and uh you’re basically chalking up the year at that point. you may you may get a statement win at some point, but you’re pretty much saying that, hey, we’re we’re out the race and we’re throwing in the towel for the year. Um, it is too early to do that, but something needs to be addressed with this team because the Titans had no business winning this game. and the card. I mean, for them to go scoreless in the second half, for me to feel like Cam Ward, as much as he looked like he was struggling, he outplayed Kyler in when when the game was on the line, uh, in terms of making some big time throws and just fighting through, you know, all the BS that they went through. Um, something has to be addressed because you can’t have a team like this who has been together for as long as they have, have the, you know, the coaching staff that they have and go scoreless in the second half and lose to a team that has not been in any game this year. Um, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say fire anyone. Um, Ganon is a losing head coach. That’s just what the statistics say. He’s a losing head coach to this point in his career. We would all agree that we saw the trend going up. It was a little Cliff Kingsberry where there was that little part where they went up, they made the playoffs, but they walked ass backwards in the playoffs. Make no joke about it. Cliff Kingsberry is an abysmal head coach. And then the very next year they completely fell off a cliff. I don’t know what it is. And I think that there needs to be more of a finger pointed at Ganon because I thought Kyler Murray was good until he hurt his foot. And I thought it was insane. He looked like he was out there hobbling on one leg that they still kept him out there. Like they should have threw Jacobe Brassette out there for for the last part of that game when they were up like I’m talking about when they were up 21-6 still at that point or something. Like he should have been out there. Kyler Murray was a shell of himself. And people were like, “Oh, you think Jacobe Brassett’s the better quarterback?” No. Jacobe Brassette on two legs is better than Kyler on one leg, though. Well, I’ll tell you what, it was just it was a coaching disaster today, man. I’ll tell you what. If if Kyler says that he can go. Yeah. And there is no structural damage to his foot. Like, he’s gonna go. He’s the guy that they paid. He’s making the big bucks to be the quarterback of this team. And so there is no point in which unless there’s significant danger of him, you know, ending his season, the coach does not step in on that. That’s a that’s a question with the athletic training staff where they say, “Hey, are you good to go?” If the player says yes, then you get wiped off the chart in that situation. They don’t go out there and say, “Oh, he didn’t make this play because his foot was hurt.” Like that’s just the reality of the business. He’s a professional. If he says he’s got to go or if he says he can go, he’s got to go out and play. Well, yeah. And I mean that’s the whole knock on him was that he’s soft early on that he missed games. Like if he let him play like I don’t think that’s I don’t think that’s a big thing. Like uh so Jal, let’s talk about the interior of the offensive line from a dude who did it. Um yeah, moving. So Evan Brown was for those that miss it, Evan Brown was inactive, moved Isaiah Adams to left guard, Will Hernandez, and John Gaines played right guard. There was a stat by uh Teao Mackey put this out and I’m sorry I’m gonna scroll. I tweeted a lot of not so great things. Um okay so Cardinal this was midway through the game. Cardinals on four drives with Will Hernandez, 7.9 yards per play, 21 points. Cardinals on three drives without Will Hernandez, 1.1 yard per play, zero points. I’ve been saying this since he got hurt last year. He will start and needs to start moving forward when he’s healthy. And I know that J. So coming off an injury, you’re out for I think it was a full year as of today. 364 days maybe 365 days. You you you ease him in and then he’s full systems go at Indie next week, right? And you I mean you got to put Kelvin Beach right next to him on the right side. Like there’s no messing around at this point with Beach and Will Hernandez on the field. That offensive line is exponentially better than when it’s one or neither of them. 100%. I mean and like you said, the numbers show that. I think uh I don’t fault them for having him on a pitch count or rotating because he is coming off of a year-long uh recovery of a major injury. And so that’s one of those things where it’s like, oh, he’s playing really well. we want to leave him in there, but we’re trying to be smart in terms of keeping this guy for the long term of the season, but you know, it it’s something that you want to obviously take advantage of and you wish you could, but that’s just like that’s normal in terms of like we’re going to have you on a pitch count uh you know, because you’re just now getting back into the swing of things. So, um I agree though. I think he needs to be starting. I think he brings a different mentality to this offensive line. Uh, and he just needs to be out there. The I I want to talk about what could be perceived um as dumb luck. Maybe Mari D Marcato throwing the ball into the back of the end zone. I could argue that’s a lack of not only professionalism uh but what is the um uh when you’re not committing p Jonathan Ganon’s ability to help co not coach this team but be stern with them. I’m forgetting I don’t have the word on top by on the top of my head. Doesn’t matter that happened. Cultural. Are you saying it’s a cultural thing? No. Yes. But it doesn’t matter. Rabbit Taylor Demerson as well picking off the football and then fumbling it. Where is the accountability? Like at some point that can’t happen, right Jamil? Have you ever been a part of something like that before where not only does he fumble it, but six guys kick the ball into the end zone and recover it for a touchdown? Like at that point, how do you how do you not look at each other as players and just say there’s nothing we can do. There’s nothing we can do. Like we’re shooting ourselves in the foot. Yeah. Of course, I’ve been a part of something like that. I mean, it’s the ball is a is a weird object to try to recover when there’s 22 guys trying to get after it. But, uh, I will say those situations, I mean, we’ve seen that happen before where a guy crosses or thinks he crosses the end zone line and he drops the ball and rolls out the back of the end zone. We’ve seen it happen before. So, it’s not like this only happens to the Cardinals. I will say when you’re down to your second, third guy, a lot of times that lack of focus becomes that that’s the reason why they’re not the number one guy. Like that’s just the reality of it. And so terrible situation. Um I don’t know if you can blame it on coaching. Like I’m I would hope that they’re preaching finish through the end zone. If I’m a coach this next week of foot football practice, everybody’s finishing through the line with a ball in their hand during warm-ups. I remember we had a situation like that when I was with Vel. Literally everybody in warm-up lines from offensive lineman to the kickers had a ball in their hand for uh warm-ups and we all finished through the line. That’s just how it goes. That’s how you have to teach sometimes. I don’t know if the Cardinals are doing that, but we’ve seen those things happen before. It was just a bad time for it to happen. Let’s move over to the offensive side of the ball. Uh we can talk for 60 seconds about Marvin Harrison Jr. having that brief breakout for like five seconds. Uh we can talk about Kyler Murray’s inept ability to outplay rookie Cam Ward who hasn’t won a game yet. And we’ll do it all next. Today’s show brought to you by our friends over at Square. But before you do, go support your favorite neighborhood spot. You’ll be happy you did. Square, see you in the neighborhood. All right, let’s talk about that Arizona Cardinals offense. Let’s start. Um, let’s just let’s get this part out of the way because it is it does uh bear worth repeating when it comes to Marvin Harrison Jr. at the beginning of this game. had an insane double covered catch. You thought he was waking up a bit. Maybe we don’t have to go insanely on that. But why did the Arizona Cardinals go away from them, Clancy? What was the point of that there? I don’t I don’t know. I mean, this is the first game that made me think it was more petting than Marv. Um because Marv hadn’t shown that you can look at it that way yet outside of college. and then I guess you know the week two last year against the Rams and then you know you know spot things last year but like the fact that he’s playing the way he is you know this fourth quarter of last week and then this you know first half of this week I don’t know why he doesn’t have 12 targets like force the dude the rock bro I’m not smart and I know that like Trey McBride’s always force the rock to him, bro. Like I I don’t understand the hell Kyler Murray throws for 230 yards, which was actually like by far the most this year, I think. And the the numbers that went to both of those guys was kind of kind of silly to me. Yeah. But good for Marv. That catch was special. Like Yeah. Last week, this week, I think he’s there now. Now you got to feed him. Yeah, that was more that was more Marv making a play, I think, than opposed to like Kyler putting a great ball. The ball was not great by any means. He just went up and looked like a number four overall pick that he is. And so, uh, why does he not get 12 targets? Because he’s a number two receiver on the team. Uh Trey McBride led with I think seven or eight targets for the game and Marv had five for or he had four receptions on five targets for almost 100 yards uh and a what would be touchdown. But I don’t know why they went away from it. I I’ll say that it is nice to know that it seemed like it was there was intent on getting him the ball and uh that’s what we’ve been asking for. Um, you wish that like this would have been a win for them because it only builds more confidence for the guy, but I don’t know, man. It’s uh it’s tough. The offense for me, I’m still I’m still just torn up over the offense and the style of play. So, uh Yep. Yeah. I don’t know, man. It’s it’s it’s frustrating for sure. Yeah. Marvin Harrison Jr. um had a Yeah, I I finally saw something special there. I think I saw it in the Rams game last year, too. Uh I agree with Clancy that it’s probably now more of a petting issue than it is a Marv issue to this point. Get the guy the ball. He was open. It felt like all game. What didn’t have the case in the drops at all. Uh Marv even though still uh has not had a hundred yard game since week seven of last year against the Miami Dolphins where he was cooking Jaylen Ramsay. Um over to the quarterback Kyler Murray cuz I want to quickly shift over to there. This I think is the game because of the magnitude of the way they lost Kyler maybe limping around a little bit. People pointing to oh he’s not durable or his inability to outplay Cam Ward late in this game. I I’ll I’ll this is the closest I’ve been to breaking up with Kyler since last year’s Carolina Panthers loss. I think I might be even closer. I think the only reason why I haven’t broken up with them cuz it’s week five in the season. I need a little bit more content. But this is the game people are going to point to and say, “You just needed a first down.” And yeah, did they run the ball in that third down? Sure, but they didn’t throw it or they didn’t run it every down. And Kyler, once again, you can argue, was outplayed by Cam Ward, uh maybe Spencer Rattler late in that game, maybe even uh uh Bryce Young, obviously M. Jones. And I wonder if we’re at the end of the road for Kyler. And maybe it’s not it’s not like, hey man, it’s not you, it’s us. We know that you have the ability to go succeed somewhere. Like I think if he went to Kevin Oonnell, I think he might be special over there. We’re like, it’s us. It’s not you anymore, Clancy. So you said it is on Kyler, but it’s also on the Cardinals. It’s us, not you. That what? Well, you’re right. I should clarify that I think Kyler obviously cannot carry an organization. I don’t even think he’s he can’t be a franchise quarterback to a what is perceived as a bad organization. I think if he went to Minnesota, which has been an organization that yeah, doesn’t win a lot of Super Bowls, but wins a lot of games. That’d be somewhere where I like, oh yeah, he’s a franchise quarterback over there. And it’s and a lot of it is an us issue because we can’t put the functional thing around him and just say here man go make the plays that you need to make. That’s what I mean. Might work somewhere else better than here. This is the most functional roster and organization the Cardinals have been in 20 years. Like even with the BA and the Carson, like there was that was a three-year experiment where you where you outsourced everything. Listen this game. What about the first three quarters of last week? What about the second half against San Francisco? What about the second half against Carolina? What about the second half against the Saints? These other quarterbacks didn’t outplay Kyler Murray. The defense was on the field late because the Cardinals couldn’t anything get anything going. Just like this Cam Ward thing, when you rush the passer, they’re passing the ball 40 times. These dudes are human beings with the passers and they won’t get home as much late in the game if that’s a setup. So, Kyler Murray didn’t hasn’t played well for 70% of this year. Yep. And the Cardinals are two and three. So, I don’t know if that’s good. I don’t know if that’s bad. I mean, it’s there’s not a better option than Kyler Murray for this season. There just isn’t. You’re not benching him. You’re not benching him. You’re not trading him either because as J said, if you fire the head coach or you trade the quarter, which is ridiculous. There’s no way they’re trading him. Like, that’s it’s it’s ridiculous. Um, that’s a wrap. And this defense wasn’t built to be a wrap through five or six weeks. Yeah. And I’m just looking at the next few weeks of the season. It is about to get real for the Cardinals right now. Um even the by-week looks hard. Yeah. Yeah. Seriously. And and you know something we had said earlier in the week in terms of this Titans game. I know you guys had asked like what what is this game for the the Cardinals? And and I felt like it was like a get back on track type of game. Yep. A game in which you want to see some things go well. You want to walk out of there with the W and uh get ready for really this next six weeks. That is uh a a legit schedule considering how these teams are playing right now. I hate that Kyler has this injury right now, whatever it is, because I hope that it’s not something that we now can say, “Well, his foot’s been bothering him.” Like, like there’s no time for this team to have a pity party, right? Like th this team, you’re about to go play the Colts. The Colts are legit. Uh after that, the Packers, the Cowboys, the Seahawks, the Niners, like all these teams are are legit teams, and there’s just no time to have the the pity party. And so, it’s it’s going to be really telling to see do we put our pads back on and get to work and try to call out another win or do we just sink and, you know, be the same old team that we’ve been? It’s going to be really interesting. So, so Jal, I um I will blame the Cardinals inept and conservative offense on Jonathan Ganon because if it was Drew Petting, I like yes, this is obviously Drew Petting’s offense for sure, but I believe the head coach, as I’ve been saying for weeks now, has full authority to walk into the office and say, “Hey, let’s open it up or your job’s on the line.” And I think it was very telling once again on that third and eight that they ran the ball when it’s, you know, and then fourth down you kick it back. I don’t think you knew you were losing that game at that point because that’s just the way it was trending that I believe that this team the the phil the philosophical nature of Jonathan Ganon is score me 20 points I’ll hold the opposing team to under that play you know keep good ball control play it safe be conservative and now it is starting to bite them in the ass in three straight weeks they should have beat the Niners they didn’t they didn’t get they didn’t get uh uh aggressive until late in that 49ers game or I’m sorry late in Seahawks game and then today they got to a massive lead. I’m texting the host of Lockdown Tyler, Tyler Roland. I’m like, “Hey man, it’s not over yet because I know what is to come.” What do you place the biggest blame of this Cardinals offense on? You could blame Kyler, you could blame Ganon, you could blame Pson. Go for it. They just talked about it. No. What What No, no, no. What is Why do they have this identity? Uh why we just we we’ve been talking 26 minutes about the offense, dude. It’s there’s some there there’s it’s deeper than that. There is a there is a cultural issue here, is there not? I I think just from my point of view, I think you have a like you said, a defensive head coach who doesn’t really put his input as far as what he believes his philosophy on offense is. And so it’s left up to Drew Petting. He’s he oversees it, but he doesn’t he’s not going like, “No, we should change this.” He’s telling, “Yeah, this is hard for a defense to cover or this formation would mess us up like this.” Things like that. But the reality of it is like Drew Petting is calling offense. Drew Petting is the head coach of the offense. Johnny Jonathan Ganon oversees the offense, but he’s more involved. I guarantee you he sits in more defensive meeting than he does offense. And so, um, I always feel like when you have a defensive head coach, you have to have a a dog of a offensive coordinator in my opinion. Uh, my experience with Braves, I always go back to that. We had Arthur Smith and Arthur Smith was not turning down anything. He caught he called it how he should and that’s just what it was. So, I don’t know. I don’t know what the issue is. I think uh the identity is the is what I’ve been saying for the longest time. Do you guys think this is the game that gets petting fired? Like not it should not whatever. Do you think it is the game that gets petting fired? Because if it’s not then isn’t that isn’t that again an issue then? Not should. Is he going? No. Cuz who’s going to call the offense? Who’s going to call the offense? Guys, why does Okay, people in the comment section, tell me if I’m being crazy because that’s perfectly fine if I We just talked about the same we just talk we just been talking about that. Like, we just said Drew President’s probably not going to get fired. I talked about it for eight minutes. Like, yeah, this is not this is not Okay, let me let me ask you this. The Cardinals were up 216 with eight and a half minutes left in the second quarter. Is that coaching or is that the players not executing? You can only have so much pressure put on a coach. The players have to overcome things and it’s not an original story that an OC is lesser than like these aren’t original to the Arizona Cardinals organization. It’s how you adjust when things aren’t going well and that’s a cultural thing. They had eight penalties. Again, that’s a Jonathan Ganon thing. When it comes down to it, Kyler Murray can’t get it done when they’re up four scores to continue the momentum going. That’s what this is about. But the problem is you can’t move off of Kyler Murray because he’s better than most options that you’d have not only this season but probably next season also. So if you want a massive rebuild with a team that’s ready to win now, that’s what you’re going to be staring in the face if you move if you move off Kyler Murray. That’s what you’re going to be staring in the face. So it’s not just one thing. It’s a collection of things that are like magnets magnetizing against each other with the thing in the middle being winning. That’s what it is. What is Okay, fine. It’s We have to start somewhere then. Where would you start right now for the offense? Not We already like We’re throwing it to Marvin Moore. We’re running the ball more. We’re running 11 personnel more. What do we like? We have You can’t just say the the room is messy. We got to pick up something. I’ll tell you exactly where it is. Tell me. Tell me. You start Will Hernandez, you start Kelvin Bechum. You start there. You start simple. Protect Kyler Murray Moore. Now, Kyler held on to like four balls today that he should have either let go or taken a chance. But you start with the offensive line. That’ll open up the run game, which will open up everything else. You can’t run Drew Petting’s offense if you can’t run the ball. And they haven’t been able to run the ball because the run blocking has been bleep because Isaiah Adams and Evan Brown have been trusted when they never should have been trusted to begin with. It’s like I talk about this six months before it actually happens. Unbelievable. That’s why I’m piss I mean it’s the writing’s been there agreed with me which is you know getting few getting further and further from actually happening a lot like you start offensive line that’s where you start with any team I J where would you start I don’t know man I don’t know I don’t know man over here yelling at each other you don’t have an idea of where to fix it no I don’t know I don’t I truly don’t No, because uh we always talk about what this team looks like on paper. I’ve seen a lot I’ve seen a a lot less be uh more successful than what this team has on offense. And so uh dude, to me it this this thing started back in in this thing started back in the first preseason game when I told you guys they should have went for it on fourth and one and they and they kicked kicked a field goal. It’s a mentality thing, bro. I’m telling you, it’s a it’s it’s from the not the top down, but I think it’s just what’s within the the offense. Like, they just don’t have they just don’t have that foot on your neck mentality. There’s no point in which we ever feel like this team is going to overwhelm someone and take over a game. Yep. or or they’re gonna do they’re gonna put it on the ground and they’re just gonna form minute you until you know the game is over. They just don’t have it. And so uh I don’t know how you fix that. Like they have the guys to do it. Is it being coached? I don’t know. I mean look at what Baker did to Seattle today. Oh, ridiculous guys. You watch you watch Baker and you watch uh the Bucks and Seattle and you see straight dog mentality football like is going to beat the Cardinals by 100. It’s ridiculous. It’s not It’s just Seattle. No, the Cardinals are going to get up the Cardinals will get up 20 to zero and then they’ll lose 100 to 20. Seattle’s up Seattle blanked them and then you know Cardinal like Yeah. I mean, Tampa Bay is like that offense without Bucky Irving and without the best offensive line. It can be done, fellas, ladies and gents. It’s just not at State Farm Stadium and not with the Arizona Cardinals wearing a uniform. In the next segment, we will discuss what pick the Arizona Cardinals have, look at a couple of mock drafts, and uh go from there. But in all actuality, we’ll head over to the defensive side of the ball. Try to figure out why this team can try to figure out why this team breaks down at the end of games. So, let’s do that next. Today’s show is brought to you by Mazda. Uh, right there, Mazda. This episode is brought to you by Mazda, moving the game forward for those who believe it’s not just about playing the game. It’s about redefining it. There are moments that do more than put points on the board. They move crowds, move culture, and keep the game moving forward. Listen, if I’m picking a moment, um, I’d probably say it’s Rabbit Taylor Demerson’s interception. That right there would have put the game away. But listen, holding on to the ball is hard. Like falling to the ground and holding on to it with two hands. It that’s a tall task. So instead, you know, if you’re Key Clark, why pick it up? Just kick it with your foot. And then the Tyrell Locket scoops it up for a touchdown. That right there truly was the game. You probably knew it was ending there poorly. When you follow the what moves you, the unexpected, which is what that was, is only the beginning. And just like there’s more to every highlight, there’s more to Mazda vehicles. Mazda, move and be moved. So, uh, mock drafts already at this point of the Cardinals season. Uh, defensively, the Arizona Cardinals really good at the beginning of the game. Like, it’s the same. It’s what is it? Groundhog Day. You said it was Clancy. Over and over, we are reliving the same game over and over. They’re dominant to start the game. Cla Campbell’s turning back the clock, looking good. Uh Josh Sweat gets a gets a sack in this game. This is what the the question needs to be. Why does the Arizona Cardinals defense keep breaking down late in games? I’ve noticed soft coverages. Is it the opposing? It’s like a batter in baseball. You get a couple of turns about the plate. You know what you what the tendencies are of the pitcher. Easier chance to get a hit. What would you diagnose it, J? They don’t get a break from their offense. Yeah, like they they make they make plays in which you would think that their offense would take advantage of it or, you know, at least do something with good field position. And this is what I said last week after or I think after Yeah. after a Thursday night game is that you don’t what you don’t want to happen is your defense to start uh becoming like this we don’t go to we don’t ride for our offense anymore like they’re they’re making plays they the Cardinals should be winning some of these games just off of the position that they’re in late in the games and they’re not they’re not and it’s because there’s just not enough uh complimentary football being played. So, it’s like, you know what? Are they not allowed to give up a touchdown? Like, those things are going to happen. But, like, they’re playing pretty well in my opinion. Five for 15 on third down for the uh the Titans. Like, 0 for one on fourth down. If you told me that, obviously they had a ton of yards, but like if you told me that before the game, I would say the Cardinals are gonna win this game. Five for 15 on third down. That’s ridiculous. So, I just think, you know, I don’t think they’re breaking down. I just think that they get in bad positions sometimes, which every defense does, but their offense doesn’t bail them out. Yeah. Six points through three quarters. I don’t And then that touchdown, you know, that’s you got to wipe seven off there. I mean, they give up 15 points, you know, it’s uh that with the numbers with the with the defensive numbers the Cardinals have given up, they should be five and0. Like legitimately, like that’s not a hot take. Like they’ve given up 20 points or less a game. They what they 22 to uh to Carolina, but like they should be 5-0 with what numbers the defense has put up. They should um and uh not great. You know, this was no Max Melton and I know that the the Titans got blanked last week. Okay, so um Houston figured it out. They have nobody that can catch a ball. Calvin Ridley burnt like Kro Clark being on the field is really not that good for the Cardinals, but he’s had to play because Garrett Williams is out and Max Melton was out today. So like it’s not an excuse. This defense is good enough to withstand the injuries and the offense is not good enough to keep putting them in better situations to succeed. and it’s just, you know, what it’s been. This isn’t new. Sucks. I think it’s a really good point when you guys talk about the offense not giving them a break, not giving them any cushion. Um, you know, at one point in this game, they they turned over the ball on Tony Pard, which I straight up I I didn’t think it was a fumble, but somehow got someone got their hand in there and in opportunistic times, they continuously make turnovers happen. Um, I just wonder at what point because I I thought this had a chance to be the type of game where the Arizona Cardinals score 30 points, but the Titans score 27 points because like they’re just inconsistent. Like they’re potentially just an inconsistent team. I I had a chance to be there. Consistent team. No, the Cardinals are an inconsistent team. Like literally by definition, the defense is good, the offense is not good. They don’t play complimentary consistent football is what I’m trying to say. But I thought for I thought with this defense that there’s a chance soon in the season where they just start like we’re out here busting our ass. You’re not giving us anything to work with. We should be rewarded for winning these games. I think that takes mental tolls on players and not having Max Melton out there. I know you didn’t say this, Clancy, but I will. I like that’s not an excuse. against the Tennessee Titans. Calvin Ridley, again, I was talking to Tyler Ran of locked on locked on Titans before this. Like, he’s not good. He creates the worst separation, but in the biggest moments, he creates separation and the Cardinals offense has to replay has to repay this Cardinals defense. Man, Ben, who told you that Calvin really is not good? Calvin really at this point has not been good since his days in in in Atlanta. He has not been good. Okay, I’m sorry. He’s not a one. It’s not a one. So, this is Have you seen this man run routes? All right. You’re gonna make me pull up Calvin really statistics. It doesn’t matter. He spent He burned it. He burned the Cardinals twice in the four. The eye roll is is something he burned the Cardinals twice on huge tough plays that led to the Cardinals losing the game. So, with Max Milton and I just said that the Cardinals can withstand injuries because his defense is good enough. this we’re we’re we’re splitting hairs. Like dude, uh ask Trent Dofur and ask Brad Johnson how good an offense has to be to win a Super Bowl. Okay? If your defense is good enough and keeps you in games, all the offense has to do is not be completely inept. And the Cardinals are four- one right now. Like truly, the Cardinals are four- one right now. If they’re not inept, you give them the Seahawks game, bad teams find way to lose games they’re supposed to win. the defense. If you say any loss is on the defense, I’m going to flip my computer. No, there’s no way any loss that the Cardinals have had this year has been on the defense. They’re the only reason they’re not aren’t getting blown out by 40. I said that the Cardinals defense, I believe, has some mental wear and tear because they continuously get asked to save this team’s ass and the offense is not helping them out. I am specifically blaming the offense here, not the defense. I’m agreeing with you guys. Meaning this I’m just not agreeing with the fact whoever told you Calvin really is not good. That my that’s my only argument. Like he he’s had several thousand yard rece receiving years. He’s had three in eight years. He’s not this all otherworldly talent. Should I have choose Should I have chose my words a little carefully? Sure. But that’s not the point. The point did it was Will Levis. My my point is the Arizona Cardinals defense is continuously being let down by their offense. That’s my point I’m trying to make here. And I I’m just agreeing with you guys is all is all I’m saying here is like I don’t know when the point comes in the season where mentally you’ve just been get you’ve just been taking too many blows from this offense that maybe the defense just end up like what does it matter if this guy scores? The offense isn’t going to help us out. It feels like the Cardinals are playing with a third string quarterback. Um, and the defense knows, oh, if we don’t stop them from scoring 20 points, the game’s over. Like, I think that that is mentally taxing. That’s what I’m saying. Yeah, it is. It is for sure. I mean, this isn’t like I mean, this isn’t like the Jets and the Sharks. I mean, you’re making me go Westside Story here. It’s not like the like there’s two different things. One, if I were a defensive player and I’m in the locker room right now looking at the offense, the respect is waning. Okay, but that’s not something where it’s like, hey, you know what? Let’s play worse defense to stick it to the offense. This defense is going to be borderline elite all year like they have been. And if the offense is able to put up points and make opposing make opposing offenses actually play off their rocker and play from behind and play and you have pressure from the offense continuing like this defense can be top five. Truly, we’ve seen it. It doesn’t matter who’s healthy. I just like Yeah. You just hope you just hope that that is the case. you hope that the defense can can hold it together all year for 17 games and uh not get discouraged because yeah, there is no like, yeah, let’s stick it to the offense by playing worse, but at some point the straw that breaks the camel’s back gets placed down and uh you know, you you hope that you hope that the offense begins to give them some of those situ or you know, pay them for some of those situations that they’re they’re putting them in. So, uh, I don’t know, Ben. I don’t know, Ben. I’m I’m just We can move on to some lessons of the game. I’m trying not to laugh in this situation, but if you guys do need a laughter, look at the comment section. These I I’ll tell you what, man. I feel really bad for Cardinals fans. Like, not us. We cover the team. We ride or die with it because like it’s our job, too. And like we root for the team, too, but like it’s our job, too. These fans are sold a bag of goods and were slapped in the face. And it’s why I continue to say like this is the game that people are like done with Kyler, done with game. Like I get it on a personal level. Let’s move on to some lessons of the game. Let’s pick up the pieces. Where do we go from here? We’ll preview very briefly that Packer game at the end and we’ll do it next. Today’s episode brought to you by our friends over at FanDuel. The interval season is here and FanDuel has an offer you don’t want to miss. Right now, new customers can bet just $5. You get $300 in bonus bets if you win. That’s right. Pick a bet, put down five bucks. If it hits, you’ll unlock $300 in bonus bets to use across the app. I love FanDuel. It allows me to have the the ability to test my football knowledge. As I told you guys earlier in the week, plus 9 and a half for the Tennessee Titans. That’s a lot of points for a team in the Arizona Cardinals who can’t score points. And listen, I I would have never picked the Titans to win this game. But if you would have bet Titans plus N and a half like I told you to, you would have won $300 in bonus bets. Let’s say you don’t want to go there, though. Tomorrow night, the Chiefs against the Jags, just bet on Patrick Mahomes. Like, if there’s anything that you feel good about, nothing’s a sure thing, but feel good about, it’s Patrick Mahomes getting a win on Monday Night Football when everyone’s watching. So, what are you waiting for? Visit fanuel.com to download the FanDuel app today and get started. All right, we’ve complained about the coaching staff, complained about the offense, we complained about the defense. Um, let’s start to take some lessons of this game and let’s kind of build off that. Is there one thing you’re taking from this game, Clancy, more than anything else? Maybe it’s a broader thing, maybe it’s still the offensive line thing. What would be your lesson you’ve learned from this game? It’ll be a miracle if anything changes. What What do you mean by that? It’ll be a miracle if the offense changes. It’ll be a miracle if the Cardinals consult games away. This being the fourth out of five games that um they could have just gone in victory formation. Four out of five. And they lost two of them, right? And the other ones were closer. Like it it’s going to be herculean to see a difference. And I don’t know how I got to this point so quickly, but if you tell me that they beat Indie or Green Bay, I’d have you drug tested, you know, it’s just this team isn’t good. The defense is, the team isn’t good. And uh it’s it’s it was tough today. It was tough. Yeah. Uh I would say the offense may be I don’t want to say it, but I know I’ve been saying a lot of offenses are broken. This may be one of those situations where I mean the last eight drives the Cardinals went punt punt punt fumble punt fumble punt punt. That right there is uh tough in terms not great Bob. It’s it is tough in terms of who you have on that team from a wide receiver standpoint and a tight end standpoint and even you know down to your third back third and fourth back who you know they can they can spin it or they can they can run it as well. So, um, my lesson for the game is, man, the offense, I keep saying it over and over. Need an identity, man. Need something that you can lean your hat on in times where the other team is rallying to make a push to win the game. What can we fall back on in which we can keep our offense on the field, drive down the field, kick a field goal to stop the momentum or or score some points? Like until we see that, I don’t know. I don’t know what to say about where where the offense or where this team will be if I can’t really place my finger on what this the identity is. If the Cardinals ever figure it out, I’m like 95% sure it’s not going to be with Kyler Murray. Kyler has a specific set like no one could tell me in the in the comments section Kyler Murray isn’t overly talented. I think I mean I think it’s without a doubt a top eight talent in the NFL. Now talent only gets you so far. There’s leadership. There’s intangibles. Dak Prescott’s really good at those things. The Cardinals are just an inequipped organization to get the best out of Kyler Murray. And there is nothing to this point that has that I can point to and say, “Oh, what about right there?” There was a glimpse in 2020, 2021 where he was awesome for like nine games, but outside of that, it’s inconsistent play. I don’t think this game was entirely on Kyler. I think it was an organizational failure like Clancy continues to point out, but Kyler’s not a part of the solution. And I think I think it might be time like I got to sit on this. I’m not fully doing it yet. I got to sit on it for a day. It might be time to break up with Kyler. And part of the anxiety of breaking up with Kyler Murray is not like it it can’t be, well, I just want to stay with her because what if she does better than me? Like that’s not good for you. So I think the Cardinals at this point like are trending towards blowing up everything. Like if it continues this way like this was the worst loss in the Jonathan Gandon tenure. This blows Carolina Panthers out of the water from last year. And so I think they’re trending towards if it goes this way a fairly decent reset. Maybe Ganon gets another quarterback. Petting like it’s not getting fixed. Clint’s right. It’s got to go. And I don’t know if it’s ever gonna work out for Kyler Murray here. I just don’t think this organization is equipped to bring out what he does well. What quarterback do you think uh Jonathan Ganon’s going to get and which would like Let me let me let me That’s the tough part about this is rookie rookie when I said when I say a hard I guess I should have been more specific with that. If Jonathan Ganon gets his own quarterback, it’ll be his guy. I don’t think they’ll trade for anyone. I don’t think Bidwell has, you know, the conies to do that. I think it’ll be a draft. What does Jonathan Ganon know about developing a quarterback? That’s not you guys. And you think, you know, Sam Lev’s going to be the savior and oh, let’s draft Sam Lew. Okay. He’s not. He’s not. He’s not like he’s not. Okay. He’s a ball player. The kid is a ball player. That dude can play, man. He’s a sophomore. Sorry. I’m sorry, Clinty. I’m sorry. Finish. Sorry. I get what you’re saying. There are real concerns with Levit. I do I do think that just saying, “Oh, let’s draft the quarterback because it’s fun and new.” It’s like, yikes, guys. I mean, first off, you got to figure out who’s going to give a first round pick for Kyler Murray. I’m sure there’ll be plenty of teams that will still. Um, you might have to eat some of the salary, which Michael Bidwell, I mean, on a short list of things he probably will never do. That’s one of them. I mean, there’s I guess there’s a long list of things he’ll never do. Um, I just Yeah, dude. That’s the thing. You’re you’re in a rock in a hard place and both of them are like molten lava hot. Like you got you’re in a just a terrible terrible terrible spot. Now it is only week five. So I guess the one redeeming thing here is the excitement of the unknown. What if they go to Indie and win like just so so you get Will Hernandez back say Will Hernandez and Kevin Beum start. Um that would be listen they they go to Indie and win. Yeah. That’s the type of win and will that will turn your season around because he’s buying back his condo because listen you can’t go to Indie and play football like you did today. You have to go to Indie and play big boy football because that’s what they do on both sides of the ball. So, it it would that would turn around or at least give the guys and the organization some hope in terms of where we’re at as a uh football team. Yeah. I mean, like, if you want to put your big boy pants on, fantastic time to do it before the buy. Have to. Um, but have to. Here’s the thing. Yikes. I mean, here’s the thing. Oh. So happy we’re coping. I’m so happy we’re starting to cope together now. We’ve came full circle. No, I mean listen, it’s the emotions are high right now and they 100% should be and none of what we said was hyperbolic or speaking in platitudes or anything like that. Like this is all real. These are things that we’ve witnessed over the last three hours, four hours. I don’t know what the hell to do from here. Like mentally speaking, I don’t know how these first five weeks are a collection of things that could legitimately happen on planet Earth. Like look at what we’ve done for the first five weeks. It’s just they could be 0 and five, they could be 5-0 and they’re two and three. Yeah. Yeah. Had high hopes for the first five games of the season. You get kicked in the teeth early. Clinty. Clancy, while while we’re Easy, get off it, dude. We’re like two hours in, bro. I’m not selling my damn condo. Relax. Here you go. Here you go. He’s been telling me this all easy. I’m thankful you watch the show. You’re a good dude. But we’re going to make fun of everyone here. He’s not selling his condo. And if he is, I It’s not a great market. Clancy, don’t sell in this market. I’m not gonna do that. Um, I guess like is Clancy where I I I think you I mean the Cardinals have had multi-score leads in three of the five games they’ve played. They came back from the depths of hell last week to tie it and then lose in walk-off fashion. And then they were up 1513 with the Kas Campbell hold in the endzone safety. They had to get one stop and they couldn’t. Like this is the most painful way to be two and three that could ever exist because you couldn’t even enjoy the wins cuz they were almost losses. Yeah. Yeah. There. See, so the the counterpoint to everything we talked about for the last 54 minutes and 7 seconds is there’s good in this team that we’ve seen on offense. You just don’t see it very often. And good like really good, like really good, like really consistent for like three series at a time, for a quarter at a time. And then anemia sets in and then you’re back to where it was. But like do you want to know how bad it is? We the the the Titans who have been in a garbage organization since Dererick Henry left. Like just a bad organization. Since I left. Since I left. Since Jal Douglas walked out that door. Uh since he walked out that door and we got we got Titans fans making fun of us. Cope Arter boys. Tighten up. That’s how bad it’s gotten to this point. Titans fans who have never won anything are clowning us. I just thought that that was funny. Um I I I I I’m usually not a last for awards. Normally it’s you guys saying that I’m not making any sense and pushing me to the side, which is fair at times. We’ll lose hope. We got five minutes left. I um I’m I’m with Clancy, man. I just I don’t know where to go. I am I am too wired in the head to say big changes. Move on from Kyler. Move on from Petting. move on from JG and just start over. But do I trust this? No. No. But no, no. I I’m just I’m wired to that. You’re not doing that yet. It’s week five. I I’ll tell you what though, man. I will blow a gasket if if something doesn’t happen. Whether people should agree with it or not, something has to happen. What that might be cutting de Marcato. Like I don’t know what it is, but there needs to show there needs to be a symbolic thing that happens that showed what happened today is unacceptable. Can we agree on that? What would What do you suggest they do? You could cut Amari D Marcato. There’s a million Amari Di Marcato. There’s What are you gonna What are you What are you gonna cut him for? What is that going to do? Well, I don’t know. He threw the ball into the back of the end zone. That’s one reason. Sure. I saw CD I saw CD Lamb do that. Okay, CD Lamb and Amari D Marcato. You can find a bunch of other D Marcato. A symbolic. This is not okay, but fine. We don’t want to do that, bro. When you start operating off of when you start operating off of you mess up, we cut you. Like th this is not the New England Patriots when Bill Bich was there. You don’t have you don’t have the the culture and the clout to just cut people because they mess up. Your whole you messed up for three years straight. Like you should have did that the first year. It’s a fine point. Then then Jal, should anything massive symbolically happen to show this is not okay? What what about Ganon throwing a t I haven’t watched the press conference yet. Throwing a tirade saying, “Well, we need to see the press conference because if he’s just his normal collective self, everyone in here, including in the state of Arizona, should be worried if he’s just chilling and he’s cool, calm, collected.” Like I’ve been a part of losses like that where the locker room is silent afterwards and you just know that this does not sit well within the culture of the team. And so I hope for his sake he’s not just we’ll figure it out. This is something that will you know like like there’s no way he approached it like that. So, um, they would be they should be disgusted at this loss. Like, especially the offense considering the last eight drives that we talked about. He he threw a gasket. He said, quote, “We just have to do a better job and get a first down on that last drive of the game.” So, he’s blowing a gasket. Start start to worry then. Start to worry. Obviously, very disappointing. God, dude, I don’t even know where to go from here. Um, just really quickly, we normally do it do this at the end. I I guess we already got Clancy’s idea of what the Cardinals should do. Start these guys or start the new offensive lineman at in the Colts game. Uh Jal, thoughts on the cult on the Colts game next week. Do you feel I mean, talk me into this team winning this game, please, for my sanity? I mean, I already said it. You gota you got to get back to work and go play some big boy football. This is uh this is not a team that I’ve seen that plays down to their competition in the Colts. They come out, they have a style of football that they play and uh they get after it. So that’s what the Cardinals have to do. Who just somebody say sorry J we don’t safe guy that’s clouding us. We don’t want to be a part of your previous what losing culture was I a part of. Please somebody tell me. Uh, I need to know for the sake of your comment, but hey, you also owe uh Deshawn Washington some gear. You said you was going to give Yeah. Hey, well, hey, if he said it, then it didn’t come from me. So, so listen, as we talk about the Cardinals again, so going into week six, statistically, they’re not anywhere close to out of contention anywhere. Okay. Um, I don’t know why this it’s not funny. Like there’s they’re this week either breaks them or you see a fight in this team you never thought you saw that you never thought you’d see. Like that’s like this is, you know, we’ve talked about for well two years now that like that moment of it’s over. This isn’t that this is close. And if they lose 30-3 next week, then it’s over. You know what I mean? Like if if they play say it’s 1713 and the Cardinals have the ball with two and a half minutes left up 1713 or down 1713 in the fourth quarter next week and they come down and win, it’s like it completely erases this game. If they lose 30-10 and they can’t move the ball and Kyler Murray gets sacked eight times, it’s over. That is the straw. It is over. That’s the straw right there. You know, like this is it looks like it, but this isn’t the strong. This is the battle of battle of uh of former Philadelphia Eagle play callers Shane Seiden, OC, uh Jonathan Ganon, DC of that Super Bowl team that went to the Super Bowl in Phoenix of that Eagles team. So, it’ll be curious to see who gets the better of each other, who knows the other person better. Um, but I think it’s going to be a rock fight next week because it is a the proverbial throw the kitchen sink game, Adam. You got to have that win. Two and four through six weeks going into the buy. Uh, tough for everyone tuning in. Uh, I’m not going to name all you. There are so many of you. And I don’t want to name the same people a bunch of times. We love you all. Thank you for uh tuning into this disaster with us. Why are we here? Look at us, man. Look at us, man. Just a You know the You know the meme of like, look at us. Look at us. Who knew? I knew. We all knew. Like at some point this was just always going to happen. We We didn’t call We did not call a Titans win. We called that it would It would kind of look like this. Yeah. Hey, I said it without saying it, but hey, I’m not going to say. Get off my See, that’s what I should have said. That’s what I should have said. Um, for everyone in the chat, we appreciate you guys being here. Uh, look at us, man. Just a couple bunch of jackasses. Just Is that what it feels like right now? Is that what this feels like? All right. Well, then maybe it’s just meals. I’m the only one. Cardinals are okay. That’s fair. The Cardinals. Um, all right guys, we will see you guys on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Clancy, Jal, myself, we will preview this game against the Indianapolis Colts. Indiana Jones versus Kyler Murray. The kitchen sink game, if you will. For everyone in the chat, for for Clancy, uh, for Clancy who’s gonna have to put a different part piece of his property up for sale potentially next week. For Jal who’s bringing that winning culture, and for myself who sometimes just yaps. We appreciate you all and we will talk to you guys on Wednesday at 6 PM.

  1. 2-5 after week 7 and it's tanking time again. Bidwell must sell. We could have signed Kennan Allen or Stephon Diggs for peanuts before the season. We're sitting on like 38 million in cap space and did we even explore FA running backs? Top down failure and today was the worst loss that I've ever witnessed in my 55 years of fandom.

  2. Trey can get the best separation out of all the receivers. Feed him until the defense adjusts. Then start feeding Marv. Every 5-7 plays throw in a run or a play action. But give the players a reason to be blamed for losing instead of this poor excuse of play calling

  3. Alex clancy just be talkin . He doesn’t think its over even tho we just lost to the worst team. He said wait til next week to lose 30-3 wtf is wrong with these people man 😂

  4. Wrong

The game winning point would have been the fumbled dropped ball before GETTING the TD. If he would have scored and everything else still happened the game would be won. That dropped ball has no excuse. Zero. Non. If that didn't happen non of the other stuff would have happened

  5. I was wanting to take my daughter to her first Cardinals game, but that is now looking like it’s not going to happen. I dont want to see that embarrassment in person 🤷🏽‍♂️

  6. Just want to say, I've been calling for Drew petzing to get fired since week 4 of last year. His offense is terrible, his understanding of the passing game is non-existent, he probably had help with the first 15 or 20 plays, which is why the ball got into the hands of Marvin Harris and Junior, then he went right back to his invention; the prevent offense. I've been calling him Lex Loser this year, and it isn't a compliment.

  7. Here’s the thing. Petz should be fired for that moronic display of play calling…. That being said, it’s also now clear, whoever is calling plays is limited by what Kyler can handle schematically. Kyler isn’t to blame today, but he is what he is, an average NFL QB. The players, need to take most of the blame today BUT the coaching staff Petz mainly ,should be ashamed at how they handled the end of the game.
