Are Jonathan Gannon’s days numbered with Arizona Cardinals? | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC
The Titans defeat the Cardinals. The Titans rallied in the first quarter and got their first win of the season. Cardinals have now lost three in a row. Give me your five words. Disaster in the desert. I mean, you this is this isn’t all I got it right. I mean, okay, good. Uh I mean, I I don’t even know where to start with this. First off, they’re about to be up 28-3. And D Marcado breaks what a 65 75 yard run. The running back for Arizona is going to be 28-3. They’re up 21 to3. Here it is. Look at this. There’s 12 minutes left in the game. It’s like night night. I turned around right here and I was like, “Well, that game’s over. I don’t have to watch anymore.” And there it is. North Korea. Kim Jong-un found his way down into Arizona. He escaped and we let him in the country for a little. De Marcado opened the door and said, “Come on in. Come on in. We You’re allowed here.” But yes, I mean this is where it all changed. And then not only this, so yes, this leads to points for the Tennessee Titans who go down and score and they get a and and then they get another drive where they go down and score and then they have a drive where they kind of put things together and Cam Ward throws an interception and I don’t know if we have that play to go along with it, but when you talk about like it’s better to be lucky and planted right into the Look at this play. Tip pass, interception. Balls out. Balls out. Kick it around. Bua Buddha Baker’s got a chance. All these guys got a chance. The Titans get the ball in the end zone and that brings the game from 2112 to 2119. So, man, you talk about blowing a game. Arizona must have had their heads in the toilet last night. Remember the holy roller? That’s the unholy roller. Look at that thing. That was so bad. outlawed the ability of a team to like do that on their own, but the defense did it for them. The defense played the role of the guy on the Raiders. Oh, I’m fumbling the ball. Throw it forward into the end zone. Uh, okay. Look, I preface my five words or less by saying this. I know that families are affected of head coaches and assistants and it’s difficult to discuss job security. But the other reality is every year what eight of the 32 teams change coaches. Yeah. And um Jonathan Ganon will be fired. That’s my five words. You think so? You don’t come back from that. You do not come back from what happened yesterday. And here’s why. It just happened last week. And one of the things that I’ve picked up over the years of doing this is that the things that happen in other games become part of what coaches of all teams tell their players, right, every week. This happened in Indianapolis. Hey guys, don’t do this. Yeah, carry the ball through the end zone. Anybody does this anytime, any place, you’re off the team or whatever. You have to send the message. You have to make sure everyone understands this. It just happened last week. It’s beyond inexcusable that anyone I mean, it’s inexcusable anyway to do that. We’ve seen it over the years all the way back to Deshawn Jackson. Yeah. But it’s beyond inexcusable for the same thing to happen one week after it just happened. Especially because the Cardinals were off last Sunday. The Cardinals had extra time to get ready for this game. This wasn’t some short week Monday night or Sunday, Thursday turnaround. They had extra time. And Jonathan Ganon was in position. His staff was in position to make sure everybody on that team who holds the ball ever understands you never ever ever do that. and you drill it into their heads and you make sure they know there will be accountability because this is the kind of thing that gets people fired. He he was asked about it. Ganon was right. It’s never about one play. Sometimes it’s about one play, but that was his opener. He was also asked about the coaching points. We we have coaching points that I’m not going to tell you guys now. I mean, how about the coaching point is don’t drop the ball before you get to the end zone. This isn’t highlevel analytic stuff. You have the ball. You see the end zone, you secure the possession of the ball, maintain possession of the ball until you cross it. I just think that three losses in a row. They’ve acquired the we ass label from the Titans now. I think that’s a virus, too, that’s going to go around. But I just think it’s I think it’s done. I think it’s going to continue to fall apart. It’s going to it’s going to take far more coaching skill than it would have taken to simply say, “Don’t drop the ball short of the end zone.” for Jonathan Ganon to turn this mess around. Now, well, a demoralizing day. It is a demoralizing day. It It’s one of those where, you know, it’s been two demoralizing games in a row really. I mean, the the the way they lost to the Seattle Seahawks, they battled back. They lose that one late. This one might be more demoralizing. And what you worry about this one is this one ends up affecting you into next week because you just go, “How how did we blow it?” And you’re in your mind all week about, you know, you know, basically letting a game slip through your fingers that you you should have dominated. The the Seahawks lost though last week by the Cardinals, right? And this reminds me of something your dad said when he was on one of the days where you’re I don’t know what you’re doing. Hammock hammock and pin colada. Owners can count. Yeah. And you know the point is because he’s owners can count to 11 and owners can look at the stands. But there are certain aspects of the game that are simple. So this that happened yesterday is simple. Hey Jonathan, what the hell? like why didn’t you tell your guys not to do this? We just saw it happen last week. But it goes back to the Seahawks game. They get cute and they try the knuckle ball kick right with a guy who hadn’t done it. Right. And it’s funny because after the game, Ganon didn’t blame the kicker. No, blame yourself. I talked to a coach the day after and he’s like, you don’t call you don’t call for that pitch unless you’re 100% sure it’s hitting the strike zone. That’s on the coach. So, it’s two weeks in a row that wins become losses because of a coaching error. And Michael Bidwa, look, no one has lasted there more than 6 years. This is year three for Ganon. At this rate, he is not getting a year four. At this rate, he’s not finishing year three. Hi, it’s Mike Florio. Thanks for watching PFT on YouTube. I don’t understand the reference. 1:09
I wonder who gets fired first dolphins jets titans or cardinals coach
In full transparency, I really like Jonathan Gannon as a head coach. But his misstep was latching his future with Kyler Murray
North Korea … 🇰🇵 Kim Jung Un lmao
Hahaha yeah that guy dropped the ball because the coach forgot to tell him not to do that? Tf is florio saying
Probably the greatest titans +7.5 there’s ever been
For once Florio actually makes sense, 10 dyas between games and it ends like that, truly unbelievable
MIKE IS THE FIRST TO MAKE THAT POINT
The owner needs to sell the team. He doesn’t care about winning. Was graded an F for the organization, thats unacceptable.
It reminds me of last year when the Bears let up the Hail Mary, it changes the entire season.
Gannon doesn’t call offense people. Petzing needs to go. He has a scheme that does not fit his players and is way too cautious. Gannon would be next. Rallis shouldn’t go anywhere
You can’t win with Arizona’s Quarterback!
How can you blame the coach
Cardinals had a madden glitch
Embarrassing no words for this organization!!
Cards fan for 20 years. That was the most infuriating and preventable loss in the Cards’ sorry history. Yeah, the Super Bowl loss hurt, but at least they played well.
Kyler Murray was his norm: good early, mediocre in middle, bad late. Please trade or draft a new QB. Murray won’t always be fast, but he’ll always be short and a non-leader.
First team in NFL history to lose 3 straight games by a walk off field goal
This is like when we gave up the hail mary last year. Losses like this just tank seasons.
So may things wrong with this team but the Cards and in particular offence is badly underachieving. The 4th quarter was a carbon copy of the Panthers game and zero lessons were learned. The Emari mistake gives Gannon an excuse but they are welcoming comebacks by going ultra conservative when leading. Its 1980's stuff.
That Titans win just cost Jonathan Gannon his job with the Cardinals. The Cardinals under Gannon — in 2025 — act as if they have just won the game before the game ends. They showed this vs. the Panthers in WK 2 and vs. the Titans in WK 5.
A new QB and new head coach look likely to come in 2026.
Relocate the Cardinals and bring back my Coyotes.
As a cardinals fan, I literally don’t have words for this loss. Literally after they kicked the winning field goal I immediately turned off DAZN and ran to go and have a shower.
Sad thing is that the players don't care. Why should the fans?
Imagine how much money changed hands with this debacle.
Fan since 92… seen some crap football in my time but it wasn’t until I saw my 11 yr old son walk away with a disgusted look on his face that I wondered why do I bother. This game is a studying point on how to shave points/Script a game in Sports entertainment bussiness. No one can coach this team to success I’m convinced.
All coaches fault. Fire them.😢
Blame the player! You learn to make sure you cross the line of the end zone to be counted a touchdown 💯
How many days do the Dolphin's Mile McDaniel and the Giant's Brian Daboll have??
At the end of the game the Cardinals didn't trust Kyler Murray enough to put it in his hands with TWO great receivers in the game. A change at QB needs to happen.
And the last min fg by the Niners 😂
One of the worst losses I’ve ever witnessed across any professional sport. That’s the kind of loss that destroys your team for a very long time.
Cardinals fans.. you now have a sample of what Titans fans feel like on a weekly basis.
2 and 5 soon
Fire everyone on the coaching staff. Owner sell the team. It’s over, this rebuild has been 3 years in the making… and we are regressing.
Cardinals gonna Cardinal. Doesn't matter who is the GM, HC, QB, it doesn't matter who they Draft in the 1st Round year after year.
Cardinals gonna Cardinal
