McMonigle WENT OFF on Max Fried turning in a dud when the Yankees needed their ace!
You had to turn to your ace today. Max Freed needed to be there for the New York Yankees and he was awful. I don’t want to hear all of the speculation about how the Blue Jays, who obviously have pounded a million runs, what they score 13 today, 10, 11 yesterday. I don’t even care. I don’t want to hear about speculation about whether or not they have something going on. Why? You know, he he kind of if you read between the lines, Jack Curry was talking about this in the postgame. If you read between the lines, you know, Max Freed’s talking about I thought I made good pitches. I don’t know. You know, like, oh yeah, like they’re all over everything. Yeah. Okay. You weren’t good. Too many pitches in the middle of the plate, particularly on the first pitch of at bats when you see they’re being aggressive against you and then with two strikes, just not good enough. Max Freed didn’t do the job. He was brilliant in game one against the Red Sox. He’s been brilliant for the last eight or nine starts of the season. And overall, outside of a five to eight game stretch in the middle of the year, right after the All-Star break with the blister issues, he was nails all year. All year. That’s why you felt like you could afford to lose game number one. Or to put it better, that they needed it more. And that you feel still felt like you were in somewhat of control of the series or in a good spot in the series because you could rely on Max Freed. Max Freed let them down. Bottom line. Bottom line.
