alrighty. Time to move to Japan and become a fan of a team there
Yeah I have to question the hitting coach. Reds had total lack of power this year at great American ballpark.
And that’s a center-cut fastball down the middle of the plate, taken for a strike
Good to know this far in advance of another .500 season next year.
Lots more butt patting on first base!! Let’s goooo!
Even Chris “homeruns are bad for the offense” Valaika?
Yikes.
Coaches weren’t the problem this year. If we can’t win with Tito and who Tito picks to be, say, the batting coach, then it’s not the coach’s fault. Tito has over 2,000 wins, won some World Series so if we’re losing it’s not because we lack in the coach department.
Reds just add a little more talent and they are a real contender. I’m not talking about Yankees/Dodgers money free agents but they have a nice young team. You plug in a few veteran guys and they are a real deal team. I’m a Phillies fan, not a Reds fan.
Hopefully with Valakia staying, he gets some better staff around him to work with the team on approach and seeing the ball.
The problem with the offense is 100% strikeouts. Reds were 7th best in MLB in BABIP, but 8th worst in K rate. You cant be successful with a high K rate as a contact team.
Looking at the batted ball profile, they were an MPH below average in a game exit velo, but pretty much on average with launch ange. With playing in GABP, thay would profile them to be around league average or slightly higher in home runs if they just put the ball in play more often.
It’d be unheard of to fire a coaching staff one year in after making the playoffs even if I’m skeptical of our hitting philosophy to put it mildly. DJ and his guys have more than earned their keep over the past few years, and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise.
Continuity baby lets go!!!
not really a surprise, but could have used some upgrades
