[Stein] Pablo Torre says no one from the NBA or Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz — the law firm leading the investigation into Kawhi Leonard and the LA Clippers — has reached out to him for insight.

  1. So there was a running bit on the lebatard show that pablo has to make everything about himself. I havent listened in years but someone really needs to play that flute music

  2. Why would they reach out to him? Hasn’t he divulged everything he’s found so far publicly?

  3. He lost me a little bit with the leaps he was making with the unrelated charity donations.

Probably best they do their own independent investigation

  4. I’d rather the NBA find evidence that corroborates what Pablo is finding out, rather than just copy his homework and call it good.

  5. It’d probably be a little weird if they *never* talk to him, but most of the stuff he has is public documentation. Don’t see why they would need to get it from him.

  6. Presumably this firm would have the same access to the evidence that Pablo had right? So why would they need to talk to him? He’s not an expert in this field nor does he have direct insider knowledge besides what someone might have told him which may or may not be true. He would really only be able to give educated guesses and opinions which very well could be true but also not really needed until information needs to be corroborated at the end of investigations.

  7. Why would a law firm that has access to even more documents than Pablo even reach out to him? It’s not like he knows more than anybody who has access to the documents.

  8. It’s okay law firms love racking up the billable hours, they’re just taking their sweet time before they talk to Pablo /s

  9. They already know where to look and what to look for, they can conduct their own investigation, and WLRK lawyers are known for being absolutely cracked, it’s a respected law firm.

  10. Why would they? They should be doing their own independent, unbiased investigation.

  11. Buddy, keeps trying to get the spotlight. Try investigating people who are breaking the actual law.

  12. Don’t see why they would. What would they even ask him?

“Eh yo, what aspect ratio do you use for your printouts?”

  13. The hate for Pablo is hilarious. What’s even more amusing is that a lot of people commenting don’t realize that he didn’t ask himself this question. He’s simply answering the purpose question in a way that offers maximum clarity.

  14. Why would they need to? If there’s stuff out there that he could find, a $1.2 bn law firm is not going to have issues finding it on their own.

They don’t really have much reason to spend time talking to a third party. Just fewer billable hours for them and they would have to corroborate anything he brings to the table anyway.

  15. If you think the law firm is gonna loop in the reporter who broke the story you don’t know the first thing about how investigations like this work. The NBA is paying Wachtell all that money for an independent judgment

  16. If you’ve published everything publicly on your podcast, why would they reach out?

  17. Why would they reach out to Pablo? All of Pablo’s information is derived from publicly available court documents. He’s a journalist with a sociology degree who does some stories on law related things. They’re professional lawyers.

  18. Does this dude ever stfu lol. Based his whole existence on the clippers of all things… Nobody gives a fuck anymore

  19. It was great reporting but this guy is obnoxious and full of shit. He’s not nearly as smart as he thinks he is.

  20. Either they found out quickly his sources are shit.

Or they’re doing their own DD to fact check and verify first.

Im thinking with this being a months long deal Pablo wont get called until mid season.

Im guessing its the second one

  21. Its like the Epstein files. There will be too many names and players involved that it’ll get buried forever.

  22. I’m not gonna lie, the way he’s milking this shit isn’t any better than how ESPN covers “news”. I get that’s kinda what you have to do for a media career now, but he’s tarnishing genuinely good journalism with social media slop after the fact. He’s not the story, and his only involvement is reporting on public records and things that his sources may have told him or shared. There’s no real reason for those investigating to go back to him.

  23. Holy shit the ballmer money is coming in now. This whole comment section is definitely being astroturfed, so many people calling Pablo “egotistical” and a “child” to downplay everything he’s done to bring this cheating to light.

  24. I think that’s fine? Pablo is ultimately a third party here. He’s not a whistleblower who was involved in the situation. Ideally you want investigators to be able to reach the same conclusion independently

  25. That’s pretty normal during a process like this. They want to go in as cold as possible and see where the evidence leads.

Then they will take that evidence to Silver and he will tell them what is being announced and what the party line is.

But still, this will come down to what the other owners want to do. If they want a head on a stake, that’s what will happen. If they decide not to care, it’ll be suppressed.

  26. The ppl suggesting that not contacting Pablo is good bc they are doing their own investigation… what a ridiculous take. Investigating something includes finding out what people know & following leads to look for evidence that either confirms or rules out different possibilities. In a proper investigation you absolutely talk to the guy who broke the story and has already done a lot of homework. That doesn’t mean they have to take everything he says at face value. It’s just a matter of starting your due diligence process wherever the most opportunity to find out information is. In this case that’s Pablo.

  27. every time Kawai is at the free throw line this year

    ASS – PER – RAY – SHUN!

  28. Why would they? The NBA is invested in burying this story, as are the other owners (like Cuban used to be) who it seems have done this sort of thing for a while. Trust me, the small footnote announcement they make after all star break will be something like, “after a lengthy and thorough investigation, we’ve absolved Steve, Kahwi, and the org of wrongdoing. We value competitive integrity in this league, and we take absolute care to ensure that everything is above board according to our standards. “

  29. Sorry, Adam Silver would like you to forget about this and move on please. Pay no attention to the giant broom he’s holding next to that big rug.
