They both struggled. Probably should be in Iowa honestly.
So close to the return of BEEF
I don’t know if it’s just mind games from the coaching staff, but all the “excitement” surrounding Ohgren & Yurov was defintely muted with the announcement of the starting lines…maybe it’s just Russo stirring the pot yet again, and we can all just let the season play out and see, but are we concerned that neither of them made an impact in camp/pre-season? Was really hoping for more out of at least one of them.
We all seem to want that influx of youth and it just isn’t happening. I guess I’ll go back and look at Rossi’s development for now and conclude that it just takes time.
Just because they are not there now doesnt mean they wont get up there later.
Freaking out over line combos before the first game of the season is crazy, there’s 82 games, plenty of time for young players like Yurov, Ohgren, Jiricek, and Buium to prove they’re deserving of more ice time. Relax.
They had lots of chances to impress and they did okay. The season is long. Ohgren got like 20 some games in the NHL last year. I’d expect them both to get a fair shake.
Its concerning but im glad they made the team. I think it will take a little time to solidify the lines this season. Hopefully they grow into their roles
Hynes saying that he doesn’t want Yurov and Öhgren in at the same time while theyre still learning is a bit disappointing, but not surprising. Neither are fully comfortable players yet.
The biggest disappointment is Haight not getting a shot, but I understand that they want him playing center and feel they have that position locked up.
Haight showed the most potential in camp over these two first rounders. Playoff Trenin (ogz) has me concerned. This kid has a very low hockey IQ. He’s still young but he needs a brain transplant to become a top 6. Yurov was incredibly meh. He seemed to know where to be on the ice, but did nothing with his TOI. Haight had highest ceiling of the three IMO
I actually think both could really benefit from starting on a 4th line. Particularly if Boldy and Kaprizov are gonna be playing together I see Ohgren as Ek’s future winger. Yurov I can see being a Hartman like player eventually, as someone who can play middle 6 center or wing. Cut their teeth with Sturm taking care of the defensive zone first, and turn that 4th line into more than PK and treading water.
Of course that’s all contingent on the 4th line getting more than 7 minutes a night. I truly hope they get real opportunities on the 4th line and maybe elevate them (or give them the odd shift with Kaprizov or Boldy bumped down)
Would not be shocked if the lines are different tomorrow. And would not be shocked if they change from the 1st period to the second on Thursday.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have the 2nd chapter of the GREEF line.. TEEF. Or maybe even VEEF.
It’s just like the GREEF line but with way more scoring upside.

In case anyone hasn’t seen the starting lines
