Sid Says Trade Rumours Come With Losing | On The Couch With Colby

[Music] Is that new helmets? Yeah, it looks different. It’s not as shiny. I go helmet on or off. You can do whatever. If you don’t want to do your hair. Whoa. It went way more gray. That’s what happens, man. Were you going to do Just for Men commercials together? A touch of touch of gray. You’re like, “Put it back on.” Whoa. Sorry, man. This coach isn’t good for guys with short legs and boilers. Oh, man. I can barely keep myself up on this thing. What year is this for you? Like in the league. 21? Yeah. Year 21. Three 90 point seasons in a row. What’s next? Olympics. Sick couch this year. Hey, sick couch. Nice and pink. This couch isn’t good for guys with short legs. That looks horrible. That feels horrible. You want to put the little pillow behind your back? Get comfy. Yeah, they should have these as benches. This is better. You all right there, bud? Yeah, let’s do it. On the couch with Colobby Armstrong, presented by Body Armor, the official sports drink of the NHL. This is what people probably question about you, too, is like what drives you, right? Like you played four nations. Unreal, buddy. How good was that? Yeah. Great hockey. Like kind of took a life of its own. Oh, you guys delivered. The players brought it. Every country that was there, which sets us on a T for Olympics, but you went to world championships after as well. Yeah. I think like you just want to play. It was an opportunity that uh got in the playoffs. You want to keep playing and still lots of summer. Not being in playoffs again. Yeah. And with that brings speculation, lots of talk about you and what could happen with you. Are you getting sick of that? I mean, that’s what happens when you lose. You know, that’s what comes with losing is all the speculation, all the questions, all the turnover, change, like movement, whatever word you want to use to describe it. When you’re winning, that’s why it’s so good. It’s more about who’s coming back and not who’s leaving, you know? That’s that’s more what it’s about. When you’re bad, these things come up and then when you’re good, army gets traded. That’s what happens. Oh, yeah. Exactly. Exactly. Chaos. No matter what, you can’t beat it. Especially when you’re in the spotlight, buddy. And you always are. Backto backto back years, 90 plus point seasons. It’s been a thrill for me as a broadcaster now or media nerd to sit and watch you most nights in Pittsburgh. Buddy, how about this year? And I’ll do this for you cuz I know you don’t do it. Mario points. Stevie Y points. Two guys you love. Yeah. I mean, like inside of you, how does that feel? I don’t think you really think about it that much, but it’s cool to be in that company. And Mario got his points in 912 games, though. So, let’s let’s ridiculous let’s keep it in in check here. What does an Olympic year mean to Sydney Crosby? And I know, you know, Canada’s means a tremendous amount to you and being the captain and and so this year is just extra special. Hey. Yeah. I mean, especially with missing the other two Olympic years, kind of not knowing what was going to happen and then personally having been to a couple and knowing that experience is like there’s always a little bit more motivation Olympic years like it’s always in the back of your mind. You got a tingle, don’t you? You want to tell Canada you got a little tingle? I’ll let you kind of use that description. I would never say that. You might say it. It sounds about right when you say Oh, I always thought of this. When you came, your nickname was Daryl. I never understood. I created Creature. Mhm. Just a creature of the game. Creature of hockey. I came up with the whole thing. What What’s Daryl? Those your junior guys, right? Yeah. So, Daryl, what a crew they are. Yeah. They still call me that to this day. Um, all my Rooki buddies. And I had eight points in my first uh preseason game and I think Daryl Sitler had like a 10-point game in his career. So, they just started calling me Daryl after. Yeah. So, I didn’t have 10, but I was I was close. So they went with that and it just stuck. We changed it quick and said the kid took off and now you’re 38. You got gray hair on my gloves. You did. You had Daryl in your gloves. Yeah. I never asked you about it. Yeah. Now you know. Here I am just in my own world. I like There’s still a few guys who call me Crereeach. I want to get you up doing a little action. Okay. Are your hips holding up? Okay. Can you have Yeah, I think I’m right. He has loose hips. A little thing we used to do when we were hanging out after practices and you would stand on that side over there. Are you flipping them up in the air and I’m Yeah. Yeah. You like hit him with your glove. You’d bat him in. Yeah. And I always thought it was super cool because every once in a while I’d see you score like that. Here’s a bouncing puck in front. Crosby bats that out of the air. Crosby fires off the post. Back across. Score. Out of the air. You ready? Yeah. There’s a lot of trust here for you, buddy. I still got it. Give me a glove one. There it is. Oh, took that one off the chin. Did you? Yeah. Hand eye vision, strength, skating, captain Canada, Olympic year. Thanks, man. Oh, yeah. I would like to present you with year three of the couch. Okay. Always show up for the league. Always show up for the boys. and always show up for the couch. So, I present you Wow. with your own custommade. How about that? Eastern Conference. Mario wore this exact same look. Is that where you got the uh 94.95? Yeah. Allstar stuff. Thanks, man. Another souvenir for the kid. There you are. Thanks, buddy. All right. Thanks, man. On the couch with me, Colobby Armstrong, brought to you by Body Armor. Choose better. Body Armor, official partner of the NHL. [Music]

  1. As Sid mentioned, he will have played quite a few more games than Lemieux did to get those totals. It's still an amazing feat in my eyes. He has 36 points more points to go (for those that care). I see Crosby's final career points ending somewhere between Ron Francis and Gordie Howe. Around 1830. He'll start to look as gray as Howe sometime, but not yet. 👴🏒👊🦷🥅

  2. As a die hard Red Wings fan, I grew up HATING the Penguins and Crosby. I still hate the Penguins, but I've grown to respect Crosby and become a fan of him as a person and hockey player. As long as he isn't facing my wings!
