Are the Indianapolis Colts the Best Team in the AFC Right Now??? | The Rich Eisen Show

Now, for the team that’s playing as well in the AFC as I think the Lions are playing in the NFC, I’m I and I mean this when I say it with all due respect to the the Bills being 4-1, but how about your 4-1 Indianapolis Colts right now? Yeah, buddy. Shocking. Uh they’re just destroying everybody. Also, their win this past week was, as we know, a destruction, an absolute dismantling of the Las Vegas Raiders. They turned um Gino over again and again and again. They’ve got a massive problem the Raiders do with the number of interceptions Gino is throwing. That’s nine now this year. But Daniel Jones just he looks cool as a cucumber. He steps back and he’s not making stupid decisions. He’s not he’s not he’s not making some of the the mind-boggling moves that you saw from sometimes with the Giants. Like, why would you throw it there? Do you not see this? What’s happening? He’s got a clear vision of what’s going on pre- snap, postnap. You know what helps you bring some focus in is a guy who can run the football like Jonathan Taylor, dude. Crushing it. He’s the only player with a three touchdown game this year and he’s got two of them. in the last three weeks. 17 carries, 66 rush yards. So, he wasn’t lighting it up in terms of yards per carry, but what he was doing was just getting it in the end zone. And the Colts defense was turning Gino over and giving some short fields to Daniel Jones, who’s throwing and not turning it over himself. And voila, 163 points through the first five games of 2025, which is um you know, two more than the Lions have had in the last four games. And um that’s the second most by a Colts team of the Super Bowl era. Pton Manning’s 2007 team had only one point more through the first five games. They’ve now won three games by 20 or more points this season in five contests. That’s the most in the NFL. Do you know how many wins they had, TJ Jefferson? I won’t ask Chris because I mentioned this in the overreaction Monday pod that we’ve already recorded wherever you get your podcast. Or by the way, it airs on ESPN 2 at 4:30 Eastern time or pleased to say. Um, do you know how many 20 uh or more point victories the Colts had? I’ll give you the last three seasons combined. One. Zero. They didn’t do it at all. They had three wins by 10 or more points in that span. Do you know how many such 10 or more point wins they had just last season? I’m going have to say zero. That’s correct. You win both showcases. [Music] So then you look at the Colts schedule. You want to pop that up everybody? Let’s pop that up everyone. The Indianapolis Colts schedule. their own for Arizona. And the matchup between the uh uh two teams this year that had guys who just mindlessly flip the ball away before scoring. Gosh. So, if you know there’s going to be one game next week where nobody does it, it’s this one. Right. Just hold on. And then they’re at the Chargers home for the Titans at Pittsburgh. Man, they can win that game 100%. And then I’ll be I I’ll be straight up with everybody straight up. When we got the international schedule at NFL Network and we’re seeing, okay, that game’s in Ireland. That’s a good one. Mhm. And we saw a game in um the Jets and the Broncos. Like that’s a good one. Yeah. Yeah. We saw some other ones. There’s a one in Spain between the Dolphins and the Commanders. Like that’s a good one. Spain. The one in Berlin where it’s like Falcons and Colts were like, “Oh, that’s nice. Berlin’s nice. How’s that one looking now? Right. Then there’s a by-week. Colts at Kansas City is going to be awesome. Let’s see what Daniel Jones does in that crucible at Seattle. Monday nighter home against San Francisco, which is one of those prime time games that technically ESPN could flex out of. You know what they’re not doing? [Music] They finish up at home against Jacksonville and at Houston. AFC South once upon a time was just, you know, one team and then everyone else. Not anymore. Nope. Fun stuff going down in Indianapolis. Fun stuff. So, right now, you want to What are the odds for a Lions Colts Super Bowl? Christopher Jizen speaking my language. What about them apples? Oh, yeah. I was looking up Patriots Bucks earlier because that was fun. That’s 200 to1. Colts and Lions, you put it together, is going to get you 43 to one. I was going to say 50. Right now, they’re the two teams playing the best football through five weeks. Uh again, they could have won that game here in Los Angeles against the Rams. The Lions had no shot against Green Bay week one. They just got pounced on. It happens. It does happen. And they haven’t lost since. They’ve looked like a completely different team this last month. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. Check us out every single day streaming live on Disney Plus and the ESPN app.

  1. I've missed these Colts….the ones when you could rely on them going at least 12-4 every year! Granted them damn Patriots would beat em in the post season it was still a fun ride every year!

  2. The Jaguars are clearly better than the COLTS, How in the world is ANYONE sleeping on the Jags and their great defense (10x better than the Colts defense) and sleeping on Trevor Lawrence, he is having Kansas City for dinner right now, they cannot stop him and Hunter, it's incredible. they are 4-1 and the class of the AFC-South. Mic-Drop!!!!!!!

  3. As a Raiders fan i think they are a great overall team that could win a super bowl if they had like a top 7 qb… which they don't. Something bad going on in Raiders locker room, I like Pete as a person but he's made plenty of suspect decisions to this point

  4. The most intersting narrative is the Colts were a QB decision away from being 2-3 or 1-4. Jones starting QB decision has (for now) saved Ballard, Steichen, and Co.

  5. I think the colts have thoroughly impressed many fans but they’re not better than the chiefs or bills or chargers or ravens with Lamar. I think the Steelers and colts are kinda the same tier.

  6. How bout that AFC South everybody bad mouthed for so long…Colts and Jags both 4-1 and it looks like the Texans have also righted their ship with 2 wins in a row…Back in June was in Reno for a festival, while there made (3) $50 NFL futures bets to win the Super bowl…Took the Lions at 10-1 for my NFC bet….Took the Bills at 8-1 for my AFC bet…Took my Colts as the longshot at 85-1…

  7. As a colts fan, I want to temper the expectations of the colts. That being said, they are technically and statistically one of the best teams in the entire league after week 5. They are 4-1, 4-0 conf, +74 net points and could be considered ranked #1 in the entire league now.

  8. Jones has a good o-line for the first time. As I Giants fan I always respected his toughness. I’m glad he’s having a great season.

  9. Realistic Colts fan here. Should we pump the brakes a little? Easy to look great against teams like the Raiders, Dolphins, and Titans. Beat the Broncos on a controversial technicality & got humbled against the Rams. Definitely some things to be happy about (Warren, Taylor, Jones, sometimes the Defense). But can we stop with the Superbowl predictions, please?

  10. Colts should be 5-0. They are 2nd highest scoring team in NFL. Super Bowl could be Colts vs. Lions. KC sucks, Ravens are done, Bengals are done and Bills are overrated. It’s Colts time.
