Chicago Bulls vs Cleveland Cavaliers Full Game Highlights Oct 7, 2025 NBA Preseason TODAY
from USC number four Evan Mobley led by head coach Kenny Atinson tonight it’s Allen and Boots to jump it up and preseason action is back in the land Giddy coming off the four-year contract extension and they expect him to take a step both as a leader and continue his development on court. Here’s Bzelis who put on 10 lbs of muscle this off season. Leaving for Herder. Pocket pass taken away and Hunter couldn’t squeeze it. That’s something if you revert back to last year was a problem with not many teams have more sides than these two. And Allen couldn’t finish on the inside. But Moy and Allen, the interior just so difficult to go up against the two sevenfooters as Herder drives, kicks through, and it ricochets off into the hands of Hunter. up ahead. Corner Trey Tyson too strong and an offensive board second chance now for Moley. Kenny Atinson expects another leap out of him as he was talking about with the pregame and there is a great example of the offensive arsenal. Great length, great size, can handle the basketball and that’s one thing he’s worked on during this offse season is being able to handle the basketball in traffic. Nice hands by Mitchell. Tyson running the break. Hunter ahead of the pack. Already three turnovers for Chicago here in less than two minutes. Last year 20th in the NBA turnovers per game nearly 15 a night. And Giddy and Kobe White learning to play with one another. No Kobe White tonight. Still nursing a cap strain. As Herder fires, can’t hit the three. Rebound. Aoro guides it to Bzalis. He couldn’t finish. And that’s going to be out of bounds going the other way. And oh wow, we’ve got a sitter. That pre-season sitter. This almost never happens. I think they’re calling for you out there. You want to know? I don’t have the hops. I don’t have the hops. Look at this right here. There they are. It took multiple efforts before Jared Allen with his length. Jared Allen, a 76 wingspan, had to use the broom to nudge that out. You don’t get sitters off in period. But forget two minutes into preseason game number one. That’s not fair, Jared. All right. You got that 76 wings span. You’ve got to get out there, forget the broom, and use the hops. Oh, you’re saying no aid. It’s got to be all natural. I understand the ball boy doing it, I think. But here, so here’s my my problem, or at least my curiosity. Does the lack of throw volume impact his ability to go up and get it without the broom? It is shorter now, right? It’s short. We’re used to it being a little bit more bigger. So maybe that had something to do with his plan. A turnover there by Cleveland. Getty steps in front. Bonellis a tone. And to me going forward for Chicago, they want to take that next leap. They want to make the playoffs. The internal growth, his sophomore season is going to have to be special. Hunter Short Aoro looking to run it again. Chicago loving to play with some pace early in this game. Aoro swing it. Reload with Giddy. 14 on the clock against Allen. Likes the matchup. Double cross, drive, stop, pop, short. Good defense by this Cavaliers team that last year ranked eighth in the league in defensive rating. Allen spin. Nice move. Score plus one. Smaller throw. Same big game for Jared Allen. Here’s the fast break by Boozel going coast to coast. Something he’s worked on. How about the spin move here by Jared Allen? just using that quickness against Cousvich. There’s the contact and the potential and one. Played 82 games, started every game for the Cavaliers last year. Used that as a source of pride and then came into this season and Kenny Atinson went to him and said, “Look, Ja, pride. We love your Iron Man vibe, but we need you to play slightly fewer games this year, fresher for the playoffs.” says Vuchovic comes up short. But again, he played all the playoff games as well, but I think they’re looking at long-term big picture. Hunter sticks the chain. He’s been a name that’s been bandied around this Cavs training camp as a guy to keep your eye on. Now, they’ve got a full season with him. remember he came in the mid-season trade and he’s one of those players that was expected to have a huge season for Cleveland and feels like the perfect fit with this team. Absolutely. His size. Think about this. A 68 69 great wing defender can really shoot the basketball and they just love his effort at both ends. Kenny Atinson entering year two after about a great first season. There’s the back door rejected. Tyson swatted it. Bonellis comes up with air. The Cavaliier defense, we’ve seen some avalanches from this team looking to provide it early in this preseason action. It’s Mobley for three. Creating offense from your defense. Now you know why Kenny Atinson and staff is so high on Tyson defensively with the big block right there. That creates puts an end to a 70 run. Big year now for Isaac Toro. Feels like he’s the perfect fit back in Chicago. Career lows across the board last year as Allen his role last year. Another opportunity from the outside this time off the heel and the rebound swallowed up by Hunter. See how long the Cavs are on the defensive glass. Mitchell got it. This is the reason why the Jav won 64 games a season ago. Very in terms of points scored at 122. And then he jumps the passing lane. It’s showtime in Cleveland. It was a quiet show at that. What a start. The second 70 run for Cleveland in the early going in this first. It started with a block. Saturday versus Ben State. Come on now. Give him a little love. First changes. We did have a a blue light special which means they changed a three to a two. Mitchell went from a three to a two so it’s 17-6. Muzell is still out there and he drills the three from the corner. Meanwhile, Trey Jones getting his first burn as he returned to Chicago this off season. Moy steps into it and he’s got another. You talk about taking three steps forward. Moy, he really improved that three-point shot a year ago. looking to expand on it this year. Talk about just walking into a three right here. Very comfy work on his handle this season. Continues to work on that three point shot. We know how good he is in the post. Looking to take that next level. Jones driving kick. Three ball is short and the rebound pinballs to the outside. Jones on the second chance right down the lane for two. Billy Donovan absolutely loves Trey Jones. his ability to change pace, change direction, kind of change the fortunes of this team because of his speed. And when they go small with Jones about the midway point here in the first quarter, Jones and Dumo, the first two off the bench for Chicago as Moy had it partially blocked. Melis is really trying to up his game as an interior defender. Showcases it there. Well, he’s got the length certainly to be a good defender. The question is, is he committed? Jones has it swatted again. Tyson second up ahead Hunter and he finishes. Now you know why Kenny Aterson once again loves the grit that Tyson plays with at the defensive end. They said his superpower is how hard he plays. It’s going to be a full platoon swap after these free throws. Jaylen Ty that he’s going to help him. They needed to replace Ty Jerome who they lost in free agency and we’ll see the entire five change. So Dean Wade, Larry Nance Jr. and his return to Cleveland going to be in there as well. Lonzo Ball, we see Craig Porter Jr. [Applause] But let’s face it, everyone here in Cleveland, all eyes are going to be on Lonzo Ball. Lottery pick few years back and we all know what he’s capable of. But again, he hasn’t played over 35 games over the last several seasons and there’s already a plan. Only 20 minutes. No backto back. Pick and pop. Nance can’t finish. And rebound knocked to the outside for Jones. Aquin Tomlin rounds out the 54 Cleveland. Here is Io Dumu, the Chicago kid back on the floor after missing the final stretch of the regular season last year. And a foul on the outside puts Phillips to the deck as Tomlin looked like he got a foot. Tomlin is fouled on the way up on a nice dish there from Lonzo. Let’s check in with Ashton. Guys, I talked to Don and then Mitchell this morning about Lonzo. He said, “Look, he has such a calm, cool presence. His IQ is on a whole other level. He throws full court like he’s back at Chino Hills and just makes really great plays.” And just to mention, I know you talked about Reggie the minute restriction on Lonzo Ball, but Billy Donovan did say he hopes that’s not for the whole season. and he hopes maybe by the second half even it’s something where you know maybe he can play the whole time or if he’s feeling good. So hopefully that’s the case uh with Lonzo Ball. They are very excited about him here in Cleveland. They love his versatility, his playmaking, three-point shooting, but more importantly his high basketball IQ and he is going to be manning this second unit and they’re expecting big things and I see him playing along Garland a lot too in in that first unit. Dalon Terry to the bucket. Can’t finish now. Cleveland looks to run. Wade slows it down for Porter. Off the screen. Wade will fire and Dumu collects it. Chicago up in a hurry. Jones got caught in the air. Dumu saves. Swing it. Terry extra. Jones on the attack and he bounced it to no man’s land and then nearly had it taken right back. But it will be Cleveland basketball. It’s just good to see Lonzo on the court. You think about it how many people I would imagine you could probably count on your hands, you know, that had literal cartilage replacement surgery. he had to find a transplant from somebody else’s knee and they gave them cartilage to put in his knee to get him back on the court after missing two full seasons in the NBA. Got back on the court last year after over a thousand days between games and seeing some explosiveness seeing this level play and wow just ran the offense but the recovery was more impressive by Phillips Dumu the other way for two. Good minutes here by Dumu here. Knocked down a three. Got all the way to the cup there. Five quick points for IO. Backto-back buckets for Dumu. Nance all along says, “I’ll take that.” It’s a return home for Larry Nance Jr. Right. And a return to that 22 in a Cavs jersey. Dumu. So, does he have to ask dad? Shot just 69.2% 2% last year in 24 games with Atlanta. Had a lingering fracture of a small bone in his right knee that kept him out the rest of the year. But back in Cleveland where he spent four seasons, averaged 9 and a half point 7 and a half rebounds per game for some really good and really not so good teams. Another turnover here by Chicago. Nance up ahead. They have numbers if they hurry. And Porter right back to Nance. Nice two man. It’ll get two free throws. Foul number seven, Jaylen Cherry. His first penalty% from the field number two. They were the number one scoring team at 122. Take a look at the upcoming national TV schedule. Tomorrow, NBA TV with the Spurs and Heat, Blazers and Warriors. Then Sunday on ESPN, Cleveland and Boston, Denver and the Clippers. 9:30 p.m. Eastern time. A couple of teams all trying to figure out what their identity is going to look like heading into this NBA season. A loaded Western Conference and so many people talking about a wideopen Eastern Conference. Cleveland believes that they should be the favorite as Numu glides to the rim for another deuce. Chicago has made the play in tournament the last couple years, but they haven’t found a way to get out of it. Now believe they can take the next step with this young core combined with a couple of the newer veterans on the team. As ball pulls and missed it short, that’ll be out of bounds. Not only have they not found a way to get out of it, they haven’t found a way to get by Miami. Yeah. Who they faced those three times in those playin games. It’ll help to get that guy back. Kobe White nursing a cap strain right now. And we asked Billy Donovan about Kobe kind of finding his voice a little bit more over the course of his career. Billy came in to Chicago and and Kobe was a young guy filled with veterans around him. Now he’s more of the veteran with young guys around him. He said more than anything, it just feels like a comfort that has come over the years that Kobe has gotten more comfortable of what his role is and what the speed of the game looks like, how to play both with and without the basketball as well. And if you saw those numbers there, him averaging 20 points. Actually, he averaged 23 points since that trade of Zack Lavine because he increased his role in terms of him being aggressive at looking at the basketball. Josh Giddy became more of the facilitator, primary assist guy on the team. Border with a nice move, but he just couldn’t launch it to the outside. It’s a turnover as Tomlin was in the wrong spot. You felt like you saw that comfort overtime with Kobe White. He’s gotten a little bit more comfortable and understanding kind of where he’s supposed to be on the court. And I think he’s found his voice on this team, right? Again, he’s you mentioned this. He had gone from the young gun with a lot of veterans and now even though he’s at the tender young age, he’s the old head on this. So, they trust him, but they’re going to be very cautious with that calf strain. We saw some horrific injuries this past playoffs in terms of guys playing with somewhat of calf strains. Tyrese Hallebertton, Jason Tatum, Damen Lillard. So, I think they’ll be very cautious in bringing him back. Year seven for Kobe White out of North Carolina. Two for one opportunity here for Cleveland. Ball get the screen from Porter. Gets it to him on a short roll. Porter will fire and knock down a triple. [Music] Terry quickly back the other way trying to take advantage. That’s not going to count. Offensive foul. Zack Collins on the seal. Offensive foul on the Bulls. Number 12, Zack Collins. That’s the eighth Chicago. Porter initiates the offense with 10 on the clock. Projects the screen. Porter likes the matchup. Kick it. Wade bounce. Nance over two. Larry. Larry Nance Jr. gave them great finish off the bench here. Final two seconds. Knock away by Nance. One more turnover for good measure. The Cleveland defense suffocating.
