Next Giants Manager? | Larry Krueger on San Francisco’s Manager Search After Melvin

Who is going to be the next manager of the San Francisco Giants? We’re going to talk about it right now. Larry Krueger, Dan Coach Millio, and welcome to the Krue Show meets uh NorCal Sports Network. But um yes, and of course on my side, we’re brought to you by Pig and a Pickle. And the entire the entire channel is now brought to you by Sleeper, which you can see at the top of the top of the screen. And Danny, if there’s anybody you want to shout out before we get rolling, feel free. H Danny, you’re muted. There we go. That helps. We’ll shout out Chapman Law Group in Marin. Chapman Law Group, who specializes in all legal matters, especially personal injury. 4156139483. Give them a call. All right. Who is going to be the next manager of the Giants? The Giants said goodbye to Bob Melvin. It was just a lot of It was a It was the streakiest year you’d ever seen. Um, they were really great. They were really bad. I mean, you know, Gary used to say all the time when we used to do shows, “Hey, you know, this guy’s lived a little. I’ve lived a little. This person’s lived a little.” The Giants lived a little this year. I mean, they had the They were on top. They were on the bottom. They were red-hot. They were scoring runs. They couldn’t score runs. They were losing. They played horrible defense. They played great defense. They play they pitched their butt off. They had ran out of pitching. I mean, every possible thing that could happen pretty much did. Um, and ultimately Bob Melvin paid the price at the end of the year. They they did um extend his, you know, picked up his option. Uh, but I kind of felt like at the time, hm, this is a little bit of a vote of confidence, but it also is going to be like a little bit of a parting gift. And sure enough, it was both, right? It was a vote of confidence at the time and it was a parting gift ultimately. So Danny in NorCal Sports Network does a lot on the Giants and talks a lot of postgame Giants. You, the great Lou Marston and others, um, what do you think Dan? Give me your breakdown of before we get into some of these managerial options for the Giants. What did you think of Melvin? I know we both liked Melvin um, personally, but what did you think of the job that he did? Yeah. Well, first of all, before I get into that, I was kind of laughing inside as you described the Giants season, and I thought to myself, that’s a Jackal and Hyde team. Sounds like a 500 team. And guess what? Uh 500 on the nose again. Uh this is uh getting to be a habit. Four straight years hovering around the 500 mark. But um to answer your question about Melvin, you know, I like Bob a lot as a you know, personal guy. Met him a few times. Uh he’s a really an outstanding man, high character guy, but I just think with this Giants team, I think they need more. I think they need a younger guy that can relate more, has a little bit more uh fire in the belly, so to speak. Bob’s, you know, more old school. He, you know, players are different today. players back when Bo Mel first started. I think there was more respect for the managers. I think they were more fundamentally sound players and they didn’t need a lot of you know coaching up so to speak or getting on their case for for failures. And uh you know I think when we saw Ramos, Elliot Ramos, who I really like as a player, struggle both in the field and on the base pass this year and there was no consequences for that, I thought he’s that’s not good. I mean, I understand Ramos is one of their better players, but you know, there’s a lot of old school managers that would have sat him down and said, “Hey, you need a day off. You can’t you can’t be uh having an infield fly rule and screwing up on that and you can’t be running into outs at third base just I mean you learn these things in little league. So I think there was some issues there that uh guys just weren’t really playing all that all the you know running through a brick wall as they say you know with some managers. Hey, that guy will they’ll run for through a brick wall for this guy. But it I didn’t see that on this team. And so I think change had to be made. And when you go one and 15 on a home stand or two separate home stands, one and 15, and you’re getting swept by the Pirates, uh that’s not good. Well, and they were so thoroughly a 500 team, too. I mean I mean look at some of the numbers. The Giants were 34 and 33 in the daytime. one game over 500. They were 47 and 48 at night. One game under 500. Um in in one-run games they were 28 and 30 basically 500. Uh you know so I mean that and then you look at at at their you know their rank and how they did by division you know they were 16 and 15 against the NL NL East. They went 17 and 14 against the NL Central. Um they held their own in the division this year. 24 and 28 in the div division, four games under uh 500 in the inner league, 24- 24. The only thing that really jumps out at all is that the Giants did crush righties to the tune of 64 and 53. And against lefties, they went 17 and 28. Uh they were awful. Basically horrible against left-handed pitching. What was that record again righties? 60 uh 64 and 53 against righties. 17 and 28 against lefties. Okay. So 11 11 over against righties and 11 under against lefties equals 500. Wow. So I mean they were a thor thoroughly a 500 team. Um and and you know they had these great moments, they had their down moments. Now let’s share the screen because I always like to look at the odds on these things and um because you know we we don’t want to look back. we want to look forward. Uh so let’s let’s share the screen and and take a look at the um the other options. Let’s see where is it. Where is it? There it is. Okay, here we go. So these are the odds right now. Nick Hundley, former Giant is a 3 to one favorite. David Ross at 9-2. So figure four and a half to one. Um Mark D. Rosa 6:1, Craig Albernaz 7:1, Mark Halberg 8:1, and Tony Vetello and and Yadier Molina 10 to1. Everybody else uh greater than 10 to1, and it’s an interesting everybody else list that includes Ron Wus, uh Dave Martinez, the former giant, Will Venible, the son of a former giant, Max Venal. Max Venible. Yeah. Uh Bud Black, a former Giant. Bruce Bochi is there at 33 to1, but it’s already come out that Buster has said that Boch is not going to be the he’s not going to be the next manager. Uh Dusty Baker is listed here at 50 to1. That would be amazing. Don Mattingley, Joe Madden’s on there. Oh boy. I’ll give you a couple interesting ones just looking at the list to first glance. If you could make a trade with the Yankees and get their get their kid prospect Lumbard and Oh, George Lumbard. Hire George Lumbard. Hire George Lumbard and then trade for George Lombard Jr. I I I mean, that would be a plan. That would be a plan. Yeah, I like that. I like that thinking. You know, that’s an interesting one to me. Um I’m I’ve always been a Dave Martinez fan. He’s got a World Series title. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, and there’s something there’s some magic there. He was part of the 93 Giants, one of the greatest teams of all time. Yeah. Um, I I have a soft spot for Ron Wus. I would love to see Wus either as the manager or maybe if you went with a young manager, first time manager, I’d love to see Wus as the bench coach. Um, but those names at the top, especially those top three are really interesting. Nick Hundley, David Ross, Mark D. Rosa. D. Rosa’s on television. People see him all all over the place on MLB Network. Uh very engaging guy, very positive. Uh smileyfaced guy. I mean, there’s a lot to like about D. Rosa as a guy. Um I kind of think Nick Hundley is a really interesting name. You know, I think, you know, he’s he’s 42. Um he was a backup catcher. He, you know, played the University of Arizona and um played with the Padres’s, the Orioles, the Rockies. Played with the Giants in 2017 and 2018. Played with the A’s. Good guy, tough guy, smart, catcher, nosebuster. Um, you know, he’s been in Texas, I believe, uh, recently, right? He’s he’s been the special assistant to the general manager. He’s working for Chris Young, who’s a sharp guy, and that I like that front office background and experience. Um, yeah, Nick Hunley makes a lot of sense to me. You know, he uh he does make a lot of sense. He would be a really great manager. I met Nick at the winter baseball meetings a few years ago and ran into him and uh great guy, great personality. Has he ever managed? I do not believe so. you know, unless he’s managed at lower levels. But, uh, you know, he’s got a great baseball mind and he was Buster’s backup catcher in 17 18 seasons, I believe, with the Giants. Um, you know, former Willie Mack award winner. I I think they like somebody like Nick Hunley because he’s in that age group of Buster and Mania and, you know, they could sit down and strategize things together. Uh, I think Nick would be a really good pick. But the guy on the list that I have been touting Larry for probably since prior to the All-Star game, even when it wasn’t even a factor that Bo Mill may lose his job, I was still still saying I like Yadier Molina. And here’s why I like Yadier. Y Molina was one of the most prepared catchers and he was a you know multipletime gold glove ninetime gold glove winner taking many of those gold gloves from Buster and he was an incredible prepared catcher that was very detailed and word is out that Buster wants somebody that’s extremely detailed. Uh, he’s a native of Puerto Rico, which Elliot Ramos, one of your better young players who needs coached up at times. And I think I don’t think anybody’s taken any crap off Yadier Molina. I would not want to piss him off. He doesn’t seem like a guy that would uh would would take too kindly to somebody talking back to him or and I think the Giants need some fire. We haven’t seen any fire. I mean, Gabe Kappler to Bob Melvin, both pretty relaxed guys in the dugout that really never came out onto the mound like an Aaron, you know, or to the umpire like an Aaron Boon that would just kind of lose his ass at times, right? And sometimes I would fire up a club. And I never saw Kappler or Bow really defend the players enough. And I think the clubhouse would be on edge a lot with Yadier Molina. I don’t think he’s a guy that’s going to stand back and take mediocrity. Well, and he’s only 43 years old. He, you think about it, Buster took his brother’s job in 2010. They traded Benji Molina to Texas so Buster could come up and be the everyday guy. There’s got to be some type of relationship. And I know there’s mutual respect between Buster and Yadier. They’re both going to be Hall of Fame entries soon. And they were both the top they were recognized hands down as the top two catchers in the game for many years. I think it would be a great fit for those two guys to work together. Why not? You know, uh you know who recruited Yachti Molina to be the uh to coach for Venezuela was Pablo Back in 2022, uh Molina announced that he would be managing um in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League, uh and Pablo was the one who recruited him. Um yeah, I mean, Molina’s was a genius catcher. I mean, he was a great catcher. He’s in his mid-40s now. He’s does have I’m looking up managerial experience. He did manage a couple times. He managed um the Puerto Rico’s 23U team in the qualifiers of the baseball World Cup in 2018. Um he managed as I said in Venezuela in 2022. Um so he’s got he also he managed in the 2024 Caribbean Series. So um and they won the title. his team that he managed um in 23-24 won the title in Puerto Rico. Um and they also won the Caribbean World Series, 2024 Caribbean World Series. So yeah, he might be he might be, you know, a high highly coveted I you know, guy won eight gold gloves. Um you know, he everybody thought of his preparation, his leadership um as one of the the strengths of his game. So yeah, he’s a four time fourtime platinum gold glove which is the you know gives the award to the the highest rated position player of any position. So four times at platinum and I’m I’m seeing nine times maybe it was eight at least eight maybe nine. He’s played in a couple World Series. He’s he’s won two World Series. Didn’t the Cardinals win it in 11 and uh let’s see they played in 11? I know they beat the Rangers that season. Can’t remember if he played in the 13 if it was against the Red Sox, which the Red Sox would have won. So maybe he’s been in two but only won one. Uh he’s been a silver slver slugger. He’s been a Clemente award winner. Bring back Benji. And bring back Benji as one of his coaches. Exactly. Exactly. You want some uh uh what do they say? Uh you know, family reunion type thing. Bring back Buster and Benji along with Yadier. I mean, that would be a tremendous move. And you know what I think too, Larry? Uh there’s so many more Latin players that are coming into the game that have a hard time speaking the language and you you see a lot of them in the dugout that they congregate together because they’re, you know, they don’t have anybody else to talk to. How about if your manager can speak the same language and that has a lot of uh you know, I I think that really helps a a young player. And now you’ve got Rafi and you got Ramos and you’ve got well Willie speaks Willie Adamos speaks very good English but and and so does Ramos but some of the guys have trouble speaking you know the language fluently. Why not have your manager being able to communicate with guys? And I think that really helps a lot of these guys and a lot of the younger guys that are coming up. I mean, we didn’t see much from Luciano and Matoss with the Giants, but imagine where these guys might be. Had they had a manager that was in their corner and uh really was pushing for them and uh we’ll see. Luciano and and Matoss both out of options going into the 26 season. So, they either have to make the club or they have to get waved. There’s no or trading them. What’s the timeline on this? Do you think this will get done uh quickly or do you think this will carry into the winter meetings? How how do you Oh, no. I think it gets done in October. I really do. I Why do I say October? Well, we already saw the first firing or not firing, but the first uh you know, hiring get taken in Skip Schumacher with Texas. And there’s like six or eight openings and there may even be more openings when teams get eliminated from the playoffs. I mean, if Philadelphia gets swept tomorrow night, there’s a possibility that uh they move off of their manager and if the Yankees go down, who knows what’s going to happen with Aaron Boone. I think some teams are going there’s like six openings, I believe, right now. And we saw Buster move pretty quickly for his man when he got Willie Adamus. Right. It was the day before the winter meetings took off and we were like, “Oh, wow.” All of a sudden, boom, Willie Adamus signed 7 years, 182 million. Buster wasn’t waiting around. I think Buster once he goes through the interview process, he’s going to narrow it down pretty quickly. And I think he pounces. I don’t think he delays this unless he’s got his eyes on somebody who’s still managing in the playoffs that is rumored to maybe be departing. I I don’t know. I I think he goes with a younger guy, though. I think it’s somebody in their 40s would be my guess. And I think it happens quick. I mean, I I I think if it if if I could go with three finalists off this list, I would probably go Nick Hundley, uh Yachty Molina, and you know, it’s hard. It’s really hard to say, but uh maybe Alberz or D. Roza probably. Yeah, I would probably say D. Rosa. Yeah, I’d probably go Hundley. Hundley, Yachtier, Molina, D. Rosa. I think those would probably be the the the three hottest names. What do you think of David Ross? I like David Ross. I like him. I thought he did a good job with the Cubs. They decided to go with Greg Counsel after he after Ross was doing pretty well, I thought. But, uh, solid character guy, another nononsense guy that people respect. Would love to see a a David Ross. I personally want to see them go with somebody who has some experience in other organizations besides just the Giants. I think the Giants need a fresh new look just because somebody was with the Giants. Do we have to bring somebody that’s part of the old tradition of the Giants? And I get that there’s there’s a lot of, you know, there there’s there’s something good feeling about bringing somebody that was part of the ball club, but there’s also something that to be said getting experienced people from other organizations that bring in different ideas. I mean, well, here’s the one thing. It’s like, do you how much do you value experience? Do you want do you want an experienced manager or do you want somebody who’s gonna be learning on the job? I mean, that’s the first one because there’s a big there is a you know, sometimes first year managers can be amazing. Dusty Baker, I think the greatest job he ever did as a manager in San Francisco was probably 93. Yeah, it was a great year, Dusty. They win 103 that year. 103 103 the playoffs. Um, yeah, I’d like to have somebody who’s managed before. That would be my only downside on on you know Hundley or Molina as far as it would be nice if they had somebody who managed before in the big leagues. That’s where that’s where Ross does have Ross and Martinez. Yeah. Dave Martinez um and David Ross have managurial experience. Yeah. So does Don Maddingley. And I think Madden and Dusty are probably a little too old at this point for, you know, they’re probably not guys that are Joe Madden is an interesting guy though. I mean, does he still want to do it? Yeah. Yeah, that’s the question. I’m not sure if Madden would be interested in doing this or not because Joe Madden would be a very interesting guy. Yeah. I mean, in some ways, I feel like Joe Madden in the Bay Area would just absolutely be hand glove. Yeah. Yeah. it it’d be a would be a pretty good fit. It’s going to be interesting. There’s a name that’s not on this list that came to my mind a few days ago, and I don’t think he’s going to be a candidate, but if you were looking for a uh surprise candidate, someone who’s out of nowhere, how about Eduardo Perez, who’s off ESPN, ESPN announcer, was the Mets candidate in 2020 for the manager’s job. And where did he go to school? Florida State. Uh played 13 years in the big leagues and a great Oh, he’s got the connection with Buster. Yeah. Oh, yeah. They talk all the time. I hear about him on ESPN talking about their Florida State, you know. I mean, that’s an interesting name. I think it’s uh I think it’s a super super long shot, but if you want to think outside the box, that guy is just one super nice guy and very well respected. Love met him also in the San Diego winter meetings. just a a great guy and a one of the best communicators in all of baseball and very well respected and I don’t know if he would be interested or if Buster would be even thinking of him, but that’s a guy that came to my mind as a sleeper pick. I like that. Uh Joe Madden, by the way, was 71 years old. Yeah. Um, so that might that might preclude him from uh from being hired maybe because he’s a maybe do they want a younger man? I don’t know. But I mean, Joe Madden was a hell of a manager, man. Um, you know, n I’m I’m looking at his managerial record. 97 wins, 96 wins, 91 wins, 90 wins, 92 wins, 97 wins, 103 wins, 92 wins, 95 wins. you know, I mean, he’s he, you know, uh he’s 532 winning percentage. So, I don’t know. He he if you wanted somebody who’s done it before, wow. I mean, there’s no question this guy’s done it before. Well, who was the manager back in what year was that that the Marlins came out of nowhere? They they Jack McKon. Jack McKeon. He was in his 70s. Yeah. I mean I mean I mean You know, how old was Bruce Bochi in 2014? Well, how old was he in 23 when the Rangers won it, right? I mean, you know, I mean, is, you know, I maybe the old, you know, the old dugout wizard, uh, who’s really smart, you know, maybe that’s there’s something to that. I don’t know. I don’t know. I I I I you know, not saying you got to be Casey Stangle or anything, but uh you know, uh but I mean I I I would not be if if Joe Madden wanted to do it, man, I’d definitely interview him. I because I mean he was he won in Tampa. He won with the Cubs. He won with the Angels. Those are the three teams he’s managed in the big leagues. He won with all those teams. Yes. Exactly. You know, I’m think um you know, the guy won one World Series. He’s a three-time manager of the year award winner. Won the award in 2008, 2011, and 2015. Now, it is a decade later. I don’t know if he still wants to do it, but he he you know, um and he another guy who was a catcher. It’s funny, why is it always that catchers are such great managers? I guess because they’re, you know, everything’s in front of them. They’re the captain of the the entire team really. They’re they’re making all the calls. They’re controlling every pitch that’s thrown. You think about it. They’re they’re the the the best ones are calling the calling the games for the pitchers. What which pitchers? And they’re, you know, just uh well respected. It’s such a tough position to play, but they definitely are make great managers. I mean, it’s interesting that you get that position. I mean, the quickest way if you really want to get your if you had a son that was wanted to make it in the big leagues, teach him to switch hit and catch and you got a chance to and then if he’s really good and can get that far, you got a great shot at becoming a big league manager. You know, the more I think about it, the more I think I I would want to I’d want somebody who’s experienced. I really would. I want somebody who’s done it before because there’s just a you not everybody can do it. Um so I’d want somebody who’s done it before. That would be give me either David Ross. Yacht’s done it before. Not necessarily in the big leagues. He’s done it before. He’s done it. Um and then you know Dave Martinez. Yeah. Um you know Dusty Madden Bochi. I’d be interested I’d be interested in all those guys who can who’ve done it before. So, those are that those are the guys I I you know, I’m I like the idea of Hundley. I know he’s a good dude. Um but man, you just don’t know if he can manage. I like the idea of D. Rosa, but I just don’t know how he would wear over time. Um I, you know, Ross I’m intrigued by because, you know, I think that he’s had he’s learned some lessons the first time around. Now this is the second time around, he’s probably learned a lot and could be really really good. Uh, I like your idea of Molina because I just really think Molina could be could maybe get these guys to play at a really really hard level and the communication would be good. I think sometimes the communication was a little there’s a little bit of a disconnect but um I got to be honest if I the more I think about it I since I don’t think it’s going to be Boch or and Dusty’s too old and I do respect the old guys I I I got to throw a vote for Joe Madden. I got to throw a vote for Joe Madden. He’s only what? Seven. You said he’s 71. 71. You know, you know, I mean, uh, maybe nothing’s forever anyway. I mean, you know, two two years. See if he could turn the team around. Nice succession plan. Maybe have uh somebody like Hunley as the bench coach. Yeah, something like that. Something like where you get like a twofer or maybe you could get like, you know, some like a so you have a succession plan. How about a Joe Madden Nick Hundley or or you know, you know, I don’t know, uh Joe Madden, David Ross, or Mark D. Roa. I don’t know if Ross would take a I guess he all these guys, they would want to be in the dugout so bad. They probably would take it. But yeah, I I like the idea of Madden. Um because I just I think this is a manager, major league manager. I think I think experience means something, you know? I mean, do we have we not learned anything? I mean, who did you win your three World Series titles with? An old experienced manager who’s done it before, and it’s like, do you really want to, you know, I mean, you can have, you really want to go with a a firsttime guy, just roll the dice? I don’t know. I mean, I don’t know. If the Giants were in a different spot, maybe I would say roll the dice on a young young guy. But, you know what? They’ve got to get to the playoffs next year. They’ve got to get into the playoffs. This nonplayoff thing is just absolutely crushing their franchise. They have to get to the playoffs. So, um I need somebody who’s going to get me to the playoffs. Let me ask you this, Larry. If Aaron Boon, for some reason, got let go by the Yankees. If they I like him. lose to let’s say they lose later tonight game three and they are you know uh they they decide to move off of him does he move up to the top of your list you’re talking experience a guy who’s won been to the division or been to the playoffs seven out of eight years I believe hasn’t won at all and I’ve heard people say well hey Buster wants uh winners he wants to in and Boone hasn’t won. Well, by that criteria, neither had Bruce Bochi. Bruce Bochi hadn’t won a World Series when he came to the Giants. He lost in I remember the day he was hired. People called him a retread. Yeah, he he’d been there in 98, I believe, with the Padres’s, but they didn’t get it done. That’s Aaron Boone. So, I mean, Andy Reid in football never got it done until he got to KC. uh Dick Vermile. I mean, there are guys that have great experience, haven’t won a title. If that’s your criteria, you’re very limited to you’re limited right now to someone like a Davy Martinez or a Dusty Baker that are out there that have won a World Series championship. So, when I hear that, one more name here we’re going to hit before we get out of here. All right. Buster. Uh Buster cannot manage because he’s an owner. Major League Baseball proh prohibits owners from being a big league manager. I’m sure there’s they could probably devest him himself or something and some temporary devestment. Yeah. He goes, “I interviewed everybody. Nobody could be as good as me.” FP Santangelo threw this out to me the other day. He thinks Buster ought to manage. Some people think FP ought to manage. Um, but what do you think of Buster as the manager? I mean, he Think about it. What do you like in a What do you want in a manager? You want somebody who’s going to be not too up, not too down, even keeled. You want somebody who’s going to absolutely be passionate about the right way to play. And you and you want somebody who’s going to be a motivator for the for the guys on the roster. um and got somebody who understands the game and understands pitching preferably uh since the pitching is a big part of the game. So, and can and and can communicate. And I just think of all of the people that we’re talking about, Buster just watched this team for a whole year. Anybody they hire is going to have to be brought up to speed on on what the Giants were this year. Buster watched every single pitch all year long. Why not he Why doesn’t he just manage and let Menasian be the general manager and just let Manasian make moves instead of him making moves, you manage? I think it makes a I think it makes a lot of sense. I think Buster might be a great manager. He probably would be. I think Buster potentially could be a better manager than a Pobo, president of baseball ops. I think he’s great with on the field obviously and he knows how to communicate with guys. I think that’s where his real strength is. We’ll see how he does as a president of baseball ops over the next couple years. He’s got a three-year deal. Does he The only problem with managing he’s got young kids and that takes a lot of time away from home. I mean, the one thing about being a Pobo, yes, it’s a 365 day a year job, as our friend Ned Kletia said, but you’re home a lot. You know, you don’t have to be on these one to two week road trips at a time. And I just can’t see Buster wanting to do that. I think that’s why he retired from the game, so he could be home more. Ned would be a great guy to take over for him when he’s in the dugout. Yeah. Yeah. Wouldn’t that be a great Let Ned and Manasian run things up front and uh Buster in the dugout. There’s my vote. That’s That’s There we go. I’m sticking to it. I like that. I like that. I like that. I would I would be all on board for that because hey, like you said, he knows the team and he loves the organization more than anybody that he’ll hire. Ned’s great at contracts. Yeah. you know, um, and also it’d be a great, you know, I mean, you know, he would be a fantastic, he knows the Dodgers. I mean, if you really want to, if you really, you know, I mean, if there’s anybody that potentially could pick off some internal awesome Dodger person that nobody else realizes has value, it’s probably Ned Kleti. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, if there’s some key cog in their organization that you could take away from them, um, I’ve heard it’s Billy Gaspirino. I’ve heard other people say it’s other people, but, you know, if there was a key cog in their baseball operations department that you could take away from him, you know, let Buster as the manager, make Ned the, you know, the, uh, the president next to, and let Menasian be the general manager, and, you know, there you go. That that’d be a good group. That’d be a good group. There you go. All right, Danny, good to see you. Um, we’ve we we took 34 minutes. We decided absolutely nothing. Um, I do like Yatier or Molina. I like that idea. I think that’s an interesting one. We’ve we kicked around a lot of names, but Buster maybe should just do it himself. Well, let me ask you this as we close. We’ve we’ve kind of thrown all these names around. Do you have a prediction? Make a prediction, a bold prediction who you think it’s going to be. Not who you want, but who you think it’s going to be. Um, I am gonna go and this is probably not this is probably not uh, you know, it’s not it’s not earthshattering. It’s not going to move the needle at all, but uh, I’m going to go with this right here. Nick Hundley is a strong candidate for the Giants manager job per John Haymon. John Haymon said that arson Judge was coming to the Giants. Uh anyway, but no, I’m going with Heymon. He can’t be wrong all the time. I’m going to I’m going to say uh Nick Hundley. I think the combination of he’s a former Giant, he’s got the right temperament, he’s a smart, tough guy, and um he’s got a relationship with Buster, there’s a connection to the front office. Uh I I think, you know, probably got a great recommendation from Boch. You know, Buster said he talked to Boch. Uh something tells me they may have talked a little bit about this guy as well. I could see Boge coming back to the Giants in some kind of role as well, but I like uh Nick Hundley. I mean, I don’t I’m not saying, but if you’re making me p I I it’s not my favorite uh choice. I mean, it’s not I don’t nothing against him, but if you’re making me predict, I’ll predict Nick Hunt. Yeah, I I would agree. I I I would lean that way. I think that’s the direction that it’s going. But I have also heard some people predict that it’s going to be someone who’s not expected that’s on the main list. So I’ve heard some Giants media people talk about that. So we’ll see. Who do you think? Who do I think it could be that’s not on the that’s not on that list? Um is there an internal candidate we’re not thinking of? Will Clark JT JT Snow would be a guy. He’s he’s I Ryan Vogle song. I would like a JT Snow over I think he’s got the right temperament. He’s he’s not afraid to speak his mind. Will be great, but I think Will would be a little maybe he might be a little too intense for the I don’t know if he wants to spend the time. I don’t think he I don’t think he does. I don’t think he does. But I could see a a JT Snow as a surprise if you wanted to really look that direction. Um, how about here’s a here’s a name. Mike Matheni. I heard somebody said Mike Matheni. Yeah, Mike M. Here’s a name that hasn’t been hasn’t managed for a while, but he’s won a world championship. Mike Sosa beat the Giants in O2. He’s He’s much older now, but that’s a name that if you’re looking for a catcher who was a Dodger, that is it. Was a Dodger. I don’t think he would be the guy that Buster would call, but that’s a wild name. Dodger catchers. No. No. Who’s next? Steve Joerger. Tommy. Tommy would be rolling over in his grave right now if we heard if if that was to happen. He would he would Tommy would come back and say, “Mike, you’re prohibited from taking the Giants job.” If we This goes one more minute. Danny’s going to save Mike Piaza. Danny, good to see you. Everybody, peace. Thanks to the sponsors. Hit like and subscribe. Love you. Take care, everybody.

  1. As much as i never want Tek to leave Boston, if he does leave in rather have him go to SF so i can follow him. It puzzles me why no mentions him, when his wife hinted he's moving on.

  2. My top choices for our next manager in preference order:

    1) Albert Puljos
    2) Yadier Molina
    3) Jason Veritek
    4) Mark Derosa.

Please not Kurt Suzuki or any college manager.
