Jacob Misiorowski Wins Postseason Debut, Brewers Take 2-0 Lead vs. Cubs | MLB on TBS
[Applause] Churio with a drive center field way back there and gone. A threerun shot from Jackson Churio and the Brewers lead seven to three. Do you believe America’s taking note that Pedro Martinez believes in the Brewers this much? You should too. This is his crew and this is the closer on TBS presented by Genesis Motor America. As everyone loves the long ball, take the strikeouts, it doesn’t matter. Pedro has been running as president of the Milwaukee Brewers fan club and the dream appears to never end. They’re doing it again. Welcome inside Studio D. Curtis Granderson, Jimmy Rollins, Pedro Martinez. I’m Adam Lufkco and we have two teams up 20 in the divisional series and we are ready for Wednesday night starting at 4:30. Milwaukee and the Dodgers looking to close out their series. Now they got to go to Chicago. Those will be interesting and the Dodgers will have the home crowd behind. Just a little taste. In the last 30 years, teams that go up 20 in the best of five LDS are 60 and seven to win it. That’s about 90% for what the Dodgers are doing. It’s about 91%. But let’s get to these highlights cuz I need to hear you guys speak. We know the relationship. Pat Murphy, Craig Councel, but what about the pitchers? Mr. Ashby for the Brewers. Deja Vu yet again. First inning, Dame Dong Johnson, Jimmy right off the top. I mean, this is what the Cubs do. We We’ve said it. There’s been no secret of who they are. And he got a hanging change up. And I tell you what, as my man B used to say, he didn’t miss a stitch of that ball. 440 ft for Seiya Suzuki. Now we go to the bottom of the first and another repeat. A Milwaukee answer with a dig. Dumb Johnson. Andrew Vaughn, a towering three-run home run. Resiliency. That’s a team that never quits ever. Amazing to answer back with that, especially with a team that we said doesn’t really hit that many homers. But in Milwaukee, a homer hitter ballpark, they can hit him with the best of. And against Imanaga, who again has let up the most home runs since the All-Star break, one of us said William Contrarus was going to get Mr. Contreras you and your Ding Dong Johnson. I had the uh the fortune teller ball out there. I kind of knew that one. 43 now. Bottom four, Chorio up. And this one was the moment. paid for. That was the biggest ding dong Johnson that put it away. Boy, oh boy. These these kids just don’t quit. And that’s why I love them so much. To have that kind of power with one functioning hamstring is pretty unbelievable. But you like you said that the Brewers, their bullpen was phenomenal. The entertainment, the excitement uh from the Miz got us excited too, seeing a young guy out there bringing that kind of juice. God, that kind of that kind of velocity. I I saw the first one, it was 103. And I’m like, guys, you see that? That’s adrenaline from a young buck. Next one, 104. Unreal. And I was like, wow, this kid is really electric. Especially because he struggled a little bit towards the end. Finally found himself in the roster to do these kind of things. And boy, was he important for the for the for the Milwaukee Brewers. Look at that. 31 104 103 103 10. Thus far in this series, Milwaukee leads hits 24-10. But resiliency battling back two games in a row now. The Cubs have jumped all over the Brewers and it hasn’t mattered cuz that’s just who the Brewers are. It has not. It’s almost like they decide who they want to be that day or if this is who we need to be, we can show up as that team. We talk about them putting the ball in play, having tough at bats. Tonight they did the opposite. Not only do they put the ball in play, they hit the ball out of the yard. And that’s something you don’t see. 166 home runs, which is 22nd in MLB, which means they’re not a team that worries or tries to hit the ball out the yard. But if the bat is if the bat is moving and the ball’s coming 100 miles per hour or hanging change up, good things can happen when you hit it on the barrel. And they did that. They came back. They responded immediately. Let Chicago know we are not going anywhere. And what was key after being down three nothing in the first, they get the hits that’s known for the Brewers. A single, a single, then the big one, and another two out homer right here. Like to come up in those situations going one pitch, the inning is over or one pitch we can strike does a lot for not only your confidence, but a momentum shifter, especially when the Cubs were up three nothing like they were to start this game. All seven of their runs tonight came with two outs, which just shows you that they can battle back in any situation. Two for three today with runners in scoring position for the series. 9 for 20 Pedro. But we saw exactly what the culture is in Chicago. It’s I hit homers, I score runs. If I don’t, then I’m I’m I’m stopped. I’m completely stopped. And that’s what that’s what they did when Milwaukee brought out all those arms and and they kind of stopped the game right there. Nothing else happened. They scored those three runs in the first inning and never were able to kind of put anything together after that. You even looked at McIll at one point and goes, he gives me Curt Schilling vibes the way he this you like what they brought out today. Oh, believe me, not only him, Mr. Barski Urrivbe. Uh the lefty, the big lefty, another lefty that I was I was talking to you, Grandandy, and I asked you, Grandandy, have you ever seen that many lefties hit a 100? And they were all impressive. And and none of them, I think, was below the 95 miles an hour. Every one of them was 90 95 to 100 the entire night. And nothing straight. And nothing straight. Everything was moving. They’re very uh diverse and the way this manager is using every player in every I mean in all aspects of the game. It’s not just just the pitching stuff, right? But the way he’s using them, I think is great. Nobody has has been able to pick up what what they’re intending to do. He has kept it a secret up until almost the start of every game. We thought in all the media guides, Prister was going to be the one that pitched a lot. Didn’t even see him. He keeps it close. Now, the downside for Chicago, they have broken a record that I’m sure they wanted no part of. Oh my gosh. 13 straight playoff games. They have scored three or less runs going back to 20 and 17. That is the longest streak that has ever happened before. And the Cubs got to figure it out. They’ll go to Wrigley. They have been a defensive powerhouse all year, but they’re going to have to put some runs on the board. Yeah. Everything that could be going wrong is going wrong. that one stat they showed of those relievers, not only getting the number of relievers in, the strikeouts, the no runs, but also the very minimal hits. They only had four hits for the whole game. So, you look at that, not only are they stopping them, like Pedro said, but then they’re also making a couple errors defensively. They’re extending the inning. All things that are uncharacteristic of what the Cubs have been to get to this point in the season. And that’s what’s been the big decision makers up to this point. And also and also just facing the Milwaukee Brewers. It’s so difficult. We saw it on the first game. I didn’t agree with having your first game boy days rest. Why? Because Milwaukee is really, you know, pesky and and the results you’ve seen from the relievers and and and Sha not be able to go deep today affects everything in the bullpen and in the starting rotation for the future.

There are so many different ways or words to describe the Milwaukee Brewers team. I think this one word can best describe them. SPECIAL!
But like these guys said this Brewers team is Resilient. They are one of the most tenacious teams that I've ever seen! They are always fighting and they never ever quit! This team has so many exceptional players on their roster! Every single one of them is dedicated, hard working, respectful, respected, professional, and obviously incredibly talented players. They've faced many challenges, different adversities, and issues. Injuries, slumps, more injuries, but in each case they never quit. They never ever gave up. The next man up stepped in and continued to contribute. The pitching staff has once again had to face a lot of injuries. They've been able to again face those injuries Head-On and they never once made any excuses or pointed any fingers. They have taken responsibility for their own play and their mistakes and screw-ups. But on the flip side, they never got arrogant or allowed their egos to change them. I have so much respect for Pat Murphy, his coaches, and every single one of these Milwaukee Brewers players. They are truly a special and a very exceptional team!
Ding dong Johnson 👌🏽
I was at game one, it was great to see the stadium filled with a majority of Brewer fans. After all these seasons of heartbreak in the postseason I told myself I would never get to excited about another Brewers team but man this team is just different. Went down 3-0 last night and I wasn't even worried. I don't care who we play, best team in baseball and the record proves it!! Yet we still have that underdog vibe. Whomever the one announcer on TBS was, sounded like he thought the Brewers were just lucky to be there. I got news for you, this is our year. For Bob!!!!!!!!!!
I haven't had this much fun watching Brewers baseball since Harvey's Wallbangers. I absolutely love this team. Win it all for Ueck!!

Murphy playing possum .
Milwaukee shut them down after the home run by Chicago. Only allowed one hit after the 1st inning.
Jed Hoyer needs to go. We needed serious pitching help and we got Mike Soroka and Andrew Kitteredge. And Tom Ricketts needs to go too. Sell the team if you don't want to spend the money. Tom Ricketts likes to play poor but the Cubs have the 26th payroll to revenue ratio. 26th. 3rd highest revenue, 14th highest payroll. Tom is just coasting on the "oh once these prospects get here we'll be fine" while he's sitting back collecting money from all the real estate he bought around Wrigley. Look up what a night at the Zachary Hotel costs that is across the street from Wrigley and Tom Ricketts owns.
