Fun Fact: The New York Jets wear green and white primarily because owner Sonny Werblin, born on St. Patrick’s Day, chose them for the team after purchasing the New York Titans and renaming them the Jets in 1963.

  1. Learn something new everyday. Always thought it was because that was the Hess colors

  2. The only value the jets have had in the sports world. People buy their jerseys to wear on st Patrick’s day (after the Celtics of course)

  3. Woody should change the team colors to his ass cheeks since that’s what they’ve been since he bought

  4. I picked this team because 5 year old me liked that shade of green. Fuck you Sonny Werblin.

Your descendants should buy the team back though.

  5. I’m so very happy with our colors. Green and White is a clean combo; hardly anybody in pro sports uses it as Green is usually paired with yellow. It’s really just us, maybe the Eagles, Stars, and certainly the Celtics, and why should Boston get to have all the fun?

It really stands out in our market too. There’s LOADS of blue teams in every sport in NYC, but there’s only one mean and green.

And it DOES make dressing for St. Patty’s incredibly easy. LOL

  6. What they didn’t tell us was that the polo grounds was built over an ancient Indian burial ground

  7. Franchise has never been the same since Werblin sold out. He understood that football is show business and never would have settled for the incompetence we’ve seen since his departure.

  8. I thought it was because the owner of the Hess company originally owned them. Hess trucks back and they’re better than ever……
