The Arizona Cardinals Lead the NFL in Finding New Ways to Lose Close Games | The Rich Eisen Show

The difference between, as I just mentioned, the Bucks are 4- one and the first team in the history of the NFL to win four of their first five games to start a season by winning by three or fewer points. Four of their first five games, one and Terraing in the final minute of regulation. First NFL team to start the season that way. And they’re 4- one. the difference between four and one and one and four of razor’s edge in this league or the difference between four and one or two and three in this case razor’s edge and the wrong side of that razor’s edge belongs to the Arizona Cardinal who have now lost not one not two but three straight games on a field goal with no time left and the way they lost yesterday’s game you can’t even fathom it when a guy runs it in for a touchdown to give you a 28-6 lead and instead Ammani Demarcado decides to flip the ball and release it before crossing the goal line in celebration despite seeing what AD Mitchell did in Los Angeles just last week. I mean, there’s teaching tape on not to do this sort of thing. And some reason, for some reason, this kid Demarcado decides to flip it. And by the way, Mr. Jefferson could be the difference between me beating you in fantasy this week and not. Yes, I know. Hey, that’s for another day. That’s a shame. That’s for another day. I wasn’t going to bring that up, but I mean, it could have been again a 28-6 lead and the Titans are going to go home 0 and5 and licking their wounds and instead after that it just begins to unravel, including a 21 there. They have a 21-12 lead. Cam Ward is driving down the field. Arizona intercepts the ball and the interceptor rolls over and decides to maybe run with it. Gets up, fumbles it, the ball’s loose, the Cardinals kick it around, and the Titans jump on it in the end zone for a touchdown. So, an Arizona interception turns into a Titans touchdown because the takeaway becomes instant giveaway after a guy runs it in 72 yards and flips the ball in celebration too soon. Yeah. And then the Titans get the ball back and march down the field and Joey Sly kicks it through after missing an extra point where he damn near hits somebody in the stands to the right of the uh end zone on an extra point so poorly. What was bad? And that’s the way the Cardinals lose. Crazy. Kyler Murray literally at a loss for words. Well, figuratively saying he’s Well, he’s talking while he’s saying he’s figuratively out of a loss for words. I don’t really know what to think about that. That’s uh uh I don’t even know. I really don’t even know. That’s uh how to lose a game oneonone. I don’t know. That was crazy. Obviously, he’s emotional right now, so it’s raw. It’s fresh on the brain. Uh, I mean, I I just think, you know, if you look at the the mistakes, you know, just uh I think we played well enough to win the game. Um, but crucial crucial uh bonehead mistakes just, you know, gave them a chance to stay in the game, you know. I think they were they were literally a play away from Quinton, but we left them and we kept them in the game. Oh, did I forgot to mention the fumble that the uh the Titans came up with after the snap? The shotgun snap hit Kyler Murray in the face mask. Yeah. And then he in between all of that, in between the Amari Demarcado premature flip and the interception turned into a touchdown for the other team. After the game, I mean, there was video uh Jonathan Ganon went up to Demarcado who was being consoled by teammates and it looked like he aired him out. And after the game he was asked about it saying it’s that it’s just one play. Nothing ever comes down to one play. And he said that there is teaching tape that he he basically said there was some teaching uh um I I guess lessons that they tell the players about that he didn’t want to get into there. There’s no question he basically Listen, if you’re a coach in this league, you are showing everybody that AD Mitchell fumble and saying, “Don’t be like him.” And then Demarcado does it the next week. That’s what Ganon had to say afterwards. Give them credit. Um, they they coached and played better than we did. That’s what it that’s what the NFL is, you know. So, I think our guys realize that. Um, but I did tell him, Bob, um, you know, everybody in there, from the staff to the coaches to the players to everybody in there, the clock is ticking. Like, it doesn’t matter if you’re a number one overall pick, a Pro Bowl safety, a thirdyear head coach, uh, a first year assistant, it doesn’t matter. Like, we have to do a better job to close out games. M first team in the Super Bowl ever to lose in a walk-off field goal as time expires three straight games. It’s never happened. Along with the other stuff that I It’s It’s crazy. You can’t say what what Dem Marcado did never happen. It happened last week. But the other stuff like the interception that turned into a fumble for a touchdown for the other team within seconds. Have you ever seen anything like that? I can’t remember seeing I don’t even I said it out loud watching it with Susan and and Coupe yesterday. I wasn’t even convinced it was legal. I was like, can you advance that? Well, if it’s in the last if it’s in the last uh seconds of a of a half, you can’t. The person who fumbles it has to recover, right? You can’t advance. I unless it’s from the other team, though. You’re right. There’s a lot of ifs in in and spliffs and I don’t know. I was like, is this real? I think it’s the holy S roller. And did you guys notice the catch Marvin made at in the first? you and I text each other and we thought it was a touchdown and then I realized five minutes later like they didn’t give him I thought De Marardo’s I thought he kind of had it in his hand when he crossed the line. That’s what I thought. And you know so um all of what I just mentioned Seattle losing the final seconds and Arizona losing again in the manner in which they lost. You could make the case the team that had the best week five, the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are they they go here on a short week to the Rams, beat the Rams short-handed to go 4- one, 3-0 with M. Jones. They make the defensive plays with all these kids that you need to have name tags to know who they are. And they beat the Rams and the rest of the NFC West loss. They’re 4- one. The Rams are 3-2, a game and a half behind them. The Cardinals drop a third straight game like they did. And the team to do it to him first was the Ners. So they’re now two and a half up on them. And the Seahawks who they beaten are three and two. They’re a game and a half up on them. So say what you will about the Niners. Smoke mirrors this that it’s going to finally going to come home to roost on them. When is KD coming back? When is this guy coming back? When is it coming? They’re in front. They’re 4 and one. and watch them with their smoking mirrors going to Tampa and maybe do to them what Tampa’s done everyone else. Yeah, man. How about the NerS? What a week it was for them. And I know a buddy of mine, uh, Michael Wright, who’s a diehard UCLA fan. I had texted him. I’m like, “Buy buy a Powerball, Michael, and and count me in for 20.” Yep. He’s a Niner fan and a UCLA fan. Wow. Good week. Yeah. Thursday to Saturday to Sunday. Damn. Yeah. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. 1. No, no one is talking about how the coach hit the player. I just saw this on the video and they just talked about it on ESPN. Why aren’t you talking about that?

  2. it was close, but if you don't rule he fumbled then everyone starts talking about sack fumbles like 'i mean it was still touching his fingers, he had it in his hand…' etc etc. heartbreaking for them, but i think the viewpoint is once it starts moving you don't have control anymore.

  3. Every year the cards are so over rated. They ain't gonna do nothing as long as they keep playing Murray as the strarter.
he needs to be sent to the curb if yall ever wanna win again

  4. Im from Arizona. I was in high school when we (AZ.) got the Cardinals.
I have NEVER been so disgusted with THIS particular team. This has been going on and off for YEARS now. M Bidwill is completely content with AZ being a forever losing team and taking the hard earned money out of AZ fans pockets. I can't even bring myself to wear one of my Cards hats this season. I LITERALLY put them all away in storage 💔

  5. People always laugh at the Cardinals.. we’ve been leading the league in mediocrity since the Bidwill’s took charge.

Literally this was the 2020’s Dennis Green game…

  6. anytime I see what the Cards did and what AD did last week, I'm always thinking the 1st time I've seen this happen in my life, was the DeSean Jackson oops moment vs. Dallas. Do people not learn???

  7. I blame This Game on The Coaches and Stupid plays..That Early Snap by The Center To Kyler was Unexcusable..The Drop by demarcado ..Was inexcusable..The interception Then Fumble by Rabbit was Rigged

  8. Cost me what would've been an easy dub too. Up by 14, and if emari woudlve scored and im sure he wouldve also been fed more, but i end uo losing by 5 at the end smh.

  9. I knew something was wrong when I looked at the score in the third quarter and it read 21-9. I remember saying to myself “This cannot be right. The Cardinals should have more points than this. The scoreboard at the stadium must be malfunctioning.” It was no scoreboard malfunction. As for the Cardinals, they had a game-management malfunction.

  10. I was there. It was the dumbest game of football I've ever seen.
One thing I'll add from being there was the head ref kept messing up who was eligible. I think it was 5 times in the first two drives

  11. As a native AZ whose parents are from NY, being a Giants / Cards fan right now is really hard. Promise for Dart, but still hard lol

  12. The stupid part is that players know not to drop the ball before they get all the way into the endzone. There's no way players haven't seen the famous drop by Desean Jackson.

  13. At this point if you flip the ball at the 1 inch line and cause a touchback you gotta get benched idc if it’s for a play for a week or for the year but there should be no reason you’re even THINKING about doing that as a celebration and it’s costing teams games literally every week

  14. I swear that football took it personally because it was tossed aside like so much garbage by Demercado, and decided to take its revenge by slipping out and into the hands of the Titans player 😁 ( know, I know, it probably wasn’t exactly the same ball, but there sure was some irony there).
