This dude is crashing out but he has a point. Youtube channel is really just lacking. No subtitles, audio just sucks. Even player highlights, they can't even get consistent footage, sometimes it's the spurs broadcast, randomly it would be the away broadcast.

To my knowledge Wemby is one of the few NBA players that routinely fields questions in a language other than English… Don’t see Jokic, Luka or Giannis always getting asked questions in Serbian, Slovenian and Greek after every game – then this dude also wants subtitles? Gimme a break

As an international (English speaking) fan – I don’t see the problem with that request.
The Spurs are clearly a team that values their international players/fans, and Wemby is a big enough personality that not only have media organisations (including at least one French company) assigned full-time reporters to effectively just cover him, but also the team have given him the opportunity (I assume at his request) to conduct a portion of all his press conferences in French.
I think it is a pretty simple next steps for the Spurs organisation to either hire, or outsource, for some translation work of any Wemby-related media, possibly even team-wide. (And should work both ways – translate his English stuff into French, and French stuff into english).
(Is there not something similar done with Spanish in more bi-lingual parts of the states? Or English-French in Quebec?)
What the NBA and organisations like ESPN do is up to them, but they do all have different international subsections as well.

i am not sure if the different departments are talking to each other since you would expect they would have thought of this already given how great there other departments are.
last time i checked, they were creating a cheering squad, i doubt someone wouldn’t show up for requests like this too. my personal request though, the hmm frustrating question and answer audio system. if random vloggers can have better, then make it a prerequisite for you to interview the team. shout out to champ cuz i think champ was trying to fix one on his latest interview lol. fun interview too 🙂
They’re right. Hearing someone in their native language, the quality of the answers usually soars. Subtitles aren’t a crazy ask at all.
I doubt they will do that for videos which barely get any views
Youtube forces us to watch a commercial every 30 seconds, so I know they could afford to run automated subtitles. We shoulda never allowed YT to monopolize.
But since nothing will bring YT down short of a country-wide revolution, Spurs doing Spanish/French subtitles would be ideal.

All they have to do is turn the subtitles on and allow some pre-selected fan edits.
Android has live captioning built in, so one probably doesn’t have to rely on YouTube’s lack of subtitles.
