HIGHLIGHTS: Colorado Avalanche vs Los Angeles Kings | 10.07.25
and McKenzie Black at home in Colorado working with the goalie coach and Jussi Carella won’t play in game number two but a possibility for game number three for Colorado jury and Machuskin still out there for Colorado tries to shake and bank pass in front save by Wedgewood with the right pad an excellent gradea a chance some of his best hockey of his career last year and Jim Hiller told us prior to the game he said watch him this year look at the nice Little stick lip there on Nathan McKinnon. He sets up this chance. Maybe hoping Kenny Holland can bring something to the table that helps the Kings finally beat them in round one. Burns pass off pad that Keer steered aside, but no AB was there for the rebound. Excellent speed and really do it all for this team. Could this be a career year? Wedge with the save on Kopitar’s long wrist shot. Here comes Turkot. Mar with a good defensive play. He and Taves are out there in front just wide. Great a chance for Meot. He’s double team though by McKinnon and Taves. But the Kings again get it out. It’s going to come towards Kee one-handed save by Wedgewood and back comes Mar the other way. Landisk back out there. Beautiful play on the wall to Brock Nelson. He leaves the Houston. Quick shot into the glove of Darcy Keer. Here’s Edmonson behind the net. Gets by him. Brand Clark. Aggressive pinch. Sends it right back to the other side to Edmonson. Wedgewood saves the soft shot from Edmonson and covers up. [Applause] Nike Anderson up the wall. Here comes Deno. Now he’s for Trevor Moore. Easy save by Wedgewood. It’s the Alla who breaks it up. Has it back and Landisk indeed. Saved by Keer and he covers up. Earlier it was Brian Dumalin on a shift but a nice job by Landis. Just stays patient. Stays low behind the defenseman and the Kings actually lose him. He gets a good chance just driving to the net and Keer had to be sharp. So just really good hockey IQ there by Landiskog. That series went to seven games. Eventually won by Dallas, but he came in and he looked like he hadn’t missed a beat really. Oh, four points in five games. Gerard shot saved by Keer. It’s loose. Edmonson battling low. That was a big hit by Kelly on Kopitar. Here comes Brinley. Shot. Blocker saved by Keer. Another rebound wide of Keer. So the rookie Brinley’s had a couple of chances in this game. Point. So very productive college player. That’s Van Tilly for one year on his own for the second year. Here’s Drury in front. Saved by Pepper. Another beauty again. And you’re really starting to build that. Here’s Trevor Moore now. Moore surrounded by ABS players as he goes over the line. An even five minutes left in the opening period in Los Angeles. Tampa, Florida. What a moment that was for Lipkin and then there NHL. Fogle shot saved by Wedgewood. Marty Nius across McKinnon to Lar back to McKinnon. Here’s Nous in front. Tipped by Nelson. Saved by Keer. Hit and fight on his 34th birthday. There we go. Happy birthday, Josh. Celebrating with some bellacosity. Devonte beautiful take the tape to lean leaves for McKenna with speed. McKenna finally coming up on the case score. Marty Marty the oneman party makes it one- nothing Colorado. [Applause] But the time that he has space to finish this and there’s the speed through the neutral zone. And who else? Nate McKinnon. You see the little hook there. He continues his feet moving and look how much time and space Nate just has. And I like how he slides to his right. He brings the Kings defenders the other side. He comes over to the right. He has a lot more. Beautiful slap pass. McKinnon Nous Le. Good defense by Mikey Anderson snuffing out the play. Jarvis Yandel and number one Phil Kessle. Here comes Kopitar. room. Shot over the shoulder of Wedgewood. Mighty got a piece of it. Biffield trying to make a quick shift. Falls down. Cece can’t find now does into the glove of Scott Wedgewood. Yeah, he’s got a lot of Jeremy Swayman in him that way. We had a great conversation in the room today talking about that offseason training and how his little Canadian town has changed. Here comes McKinnon. Good save by Keer. And here comes Davin Brinley. Brinley, the 21-year-old in his second NHL game, gets shoved off the comes to the left point and there’s Sam Molinsky. Molinsky fires. It’s Sam Molinski. [Applause] You know, you got to give Parker Kelly a ton of credit here. He blocks the shot in the D zone. It eventually goes up ice into the offensive zone. Him and Brinley in on the for check. They create the turnover and Kibby Rant in there as well as Keer was screened on this play. He doesn’t see it. The skin now out there. Shot into the glove. Easy save by Keer and he gets the whistle. Here comes Biffield. Oh, he’s trying to chip it to himself, but Barrier has it. He’s got Bfield but the passes in front. Fire save by Wedgewood. [Music] Goal in the six. And everyone wondering about that contract that the Chicago Blackhawks early here have done their homework. Bogle to the front. Kings digging at it. Still no whistle. Mar out with it. Sure like to get back up in that 40 range with as much as he fires it. Totus in front who’s so dangerous there. number 13 as Taves recognized that so big and strong and fast twitch still hungry for Stanley Cup burns fires big save five on five hockey Edmonson is back Drury Kibby run up Holton’s on side here comes Drury turns away back to the point Manson to the net deflected rebound in front attacks knocked Down wide. Mar fakes it. Walks in. Mar saved by Keer. Score. Nathan McKinnon. Arti Lechinan. Both grinding down low. And it’s Lechanin who taps it in. Pressure on the Kings. Watch this play by Mar at the blue line. Jeff Mal comes out to challenge him. He fakes the shot and then bust down the middle of the seam. Creates this opportunity. Temper unable to control the rebound, but what a move by Mar and good work in front by the Avalanche. Two seasons the have trailed by three at home. Three or more. They’re normally good here. Deflected just wide. That would have been okay from Brock Nelson as Gerard threw the wrist shot. After a slow start midway through the first, the Alandal really start to turn this thing around and their speed is starting to overwhelm the Kings a bit. [Applause] Three fellas who only played one game in the NHL. They each scored a goal but never had another chance. Never take anything for granted. The Kings desperately try to get a goal here late in the second. Kopitar threw that on the net. Kuseno was there. Then they shouldn’t make 20% more than nine. And that’s now you’re at 11. Turnover in front. Oh, what a save by Wedgewood on Turkot. Another chance for the Kings. And in this fourth line for the Kings starting to provide some energy. There’s the turnover there as you can see it goes right back to Turkot who was in behind the defense of the ABS. Just a fortunate bounce for him and an unfortunate one for the ABS. He just doesn’t get it over the right pad of Wedgewood who give him credit. Brock Nelson back to Mar. McKinnon wants it. He has it. Attacks in front. Deflected off Dowy. Kempy covers up. Wedgewood smacking his stick letting his teammates know the penalty is just about to end. and Lechan off of McKinnon. Pass in front and Keer had to make another high danger save. Passing lane to Lechan. I mean, there’s two Kings players there, but as he comes across the other side that just opens the stick as they ro he’s in that front presence number 40 trying to get there. They’re set up for one more chance. Aria kick save by Wedgewood. A beauty. and he’s been excellent for the AS getting this his second start in an opening game in his career. Here comes Natious. Fire score. The second of the night. It’s a power play goal and the Avalanche lead 4 nothing. Change the angle of his stick. And what did he do in that first goal? Well, he went short side. So, what does he do on this one? Wow. Goes far side and you can see Keer almost cheating to the short side after being beat earlier in the game. Cross D to know shot save Wedgewood. Puck is bouncing up on his shoulder. Clark knocks down Kimmy Ross. The shot saved by Wedgewood Maria. Penalty coming up again on the avalanche. Kiseno Kempe. Back to Kizeno. They got to attack. O fires by field. Denied by Wedgewood. Kempe. Fia. Back to Kempe. Fia. Shot. Score. Kevin. Fia. It’s 4-1. Still on the power play. Quiet Knight in my opinion has come alive here in the third period after that penalty that he took. He seemed to find some jump and some anger in his game. And look at this shot as Wedgwood moves to his left. He put it back to his right. And Wedgwood couldn’t come out on top of the blue paint cuz he had to honor Kopar. Great pressure at the top here on the two defenseman. Friier has it. Goes down low. More across shot. Oh, what a save by Wedgewood. He robbed it. Another penalty coming up. Might have got a shoulder on that. That’s a spot. But Olson’s scored a lot of goals with the Buffalo Saber and the ABS hope he provides some third line scoring depth.
