Welcome to a Tuesday edition of Locked On Stars, part of the Locked On podcast network. your team every single day. We’re 48 hours away from the Dallas Stars season opener against the Winnipeg Jets. But the 202526 NHL season kicks off tonight. Chicago Blackhawks are kicking off this great week of hockey. Yes, the National Hockey League is back. So, it’s time to do some predictions. I did this last year. Had a lot of fun. We’re going to run through the Central. We’re going to run through the West as well. I’m going to stay away from the East. I just want to predict the eight playoff teams in the Western Conference. We’re also going to predict goals, assists, point leaders for the Dallas Stars. It’s basically a trio I have, but you’re going to have to find out in order of which I have them, plus some bold predictions towards the end of today’s show. Let me know your bold predictions. Give me three in the comments below. I would love to read through those before the season opener in just a couple of days. But let’s have some fun. I did this last season. I believe I picked six of the eight correct playoff teams. Nashville, of course, threw a wrench into the plans because they were awful right off the bat. But other than that, I think I did a pretty decent job. I I do have some pretty hot takes I I think in the West uh as well. But we we’ll kick things off with the Central Division. And y’all know for you everydayers out there, I haven’t been as high on the Dallas Stars as as maybe others. If you enjoyed that central division or playoff roundt we did the uh the other day with Colorado and Minnesota and Winnipeg. They all believe the Stars are going to win the Central. And when I first look at Dallas, I think there may be some regression, but then I went and I looked at the depth chart of other teams like Minnesota, Colorado, Winnipeg, other top teams in the Central, and when you just zoom out, I said to myself, we have it pretty good. The Dallas Stars are a good team, so I’m going to pick them to win the Central Division. I’m I’m coming around to it. So, for those of you that are maybe in the comments wondering why I am not as optimistic about Dallas, here it is. I I’m I’m I’m on the train now. I think Dallas wins the Central. 5124 and seven is the record. 109 points is my prediction. Over the last three years, the team that wins the Central has won at least 50 games. So, I have to have them winning 50 games if I’m going to have them win the Central and 109 points. It may be difficult, but I I still like where the Stars are headed. Plus, the back end feels more stable than it has over the last couple of years. And I’m going to have Glenn Golden give this team a little extra boost coming out of the gates. They have a good start and they can just cruise. So, I have Dallas winning the Central. I’m coming around to it. Maybe I’m talking myself into it, but I do really, really like where the Stars are, how they’re built, and when you do compare them to other teams, it it gives you a realization that yeah, the Stars are in pretty good shape. Um, are they ready to win a Stanley Cup? I I don’t know. Uh, I have some questions, concerns, but they should be fine during the regular season, even if they go through some troubles, go through learning curves under Gulatson, which they very well could in the early going. Okay, behind Dallas, I have Minnesota. I’m going to be really high on Minnesota. I was last year. I know they already are dealing with some injuries to Zukarella, but Capri Saw got his deal done. He should be happy. Why wouldn’t he be? It’s getting paid 17 billion dollars a year for the next what, seven, eight years. Minnesota stays more healthy than they were last year. And if you recall, they were first place at the beginning of December when they were fully healthy. Minnesota comes in second. I got Colorado number three. Winnipeg is the team that I have sort of dropping off here. Dallas, Minnesota, Colorado. I got St. Louis. St. Louis comes in at number four. Uh, I’m going to be on the bandwagon on them a bit. Uh, Bennington has been playing like Bennington since the Four Nations faceoff last winter. I like St. Louis. They got deeper down the middle with Sudter. Not that Sudter, Buchad. St. Louis makes a jump. I love Monty. Give me St. Louis four. Then I got Winnipeg, Nashville, Utah, Chicago. Utah could come back to bite me in the rear end. I didn’t buy into them last year and they had a really good start, kind of fell, but I I’m gonna have him seven and then Chicago eight. I I just who knows the the Blackhawks are are going to struggle it feels like for the next two years um at least. But that’s my central division rankings. Dallas wins it. Minnesota, Colorado, St. Louis, Winnipeg, Nashville, Utah, Chicago. Now, we get to the Western Conference. So, this is where I have my eight playoff teams. I’ll do them in order. These are the eight teams that make it this year. I’m not going five in the Central. I went five in the Central last year. I got Vegas winning the Western Conference. Vegas, Dallas, Minnesota, Edmonton, Colorado, Vancouver jumps in this year. St. Louis takes the final spot. Winnipeg misses out. I’m I’m I’m back to being a bit of a a Winnipeg hater. Uh I got LA sneaking in again and I got Vancouver, the team to make a jump. I feel like every year you got to have two or three teams that either come out or or make an appearance. So, I’m going Winnipeg. Maybe they struggle. I know they have the goalending. I get it. But I don’t like a lot what they have up front. Um they’re going to be asking a lot out of Aayaz uh who’s hurt now to to sort of be a guy uh when he hasn’t played in a couple years and I believe Nomesticov is now out for a little bit. So Winnipeg maybe gets off to a tough start. They struggle out of the gates. They make a push but they they they they don’t make it. So I got four and four between the Pacific and and Central this year. Vegas, Dallas, Minnesota, Edmonton, Colorado, Vancouver, St. Louis, LA. That is my eight playoff teams in the Western Conference for this season. Those are my rankings in order. Uh yeah, out of the Pacific, Vegas, Edmonton, Vancouver, LA, and Central, Dallas, Minnesota, Colorado, St. Louis. Um, so yeah, those are kind of where where I land on on those. I I had to make a couple hot takes. Okay, I had to. Winnipeg misses out. You got Nashville 10. They they make it a little more interesting this year. Anaheim takes another jump for me. I got them 11. Um, and to round out Utah, Seattle, Calgary, Chicago, San Jose. That kind of rounds out the top 16 in the West. So, those are my central and west predictions. Let me know your eight playoff teams. Um, I I I went I looked at Vancouver and I’ve always sort of liked them for whatever reason. I like Person, they got Besser done, they have Ronic, they have Hughes, we get it. Demco should be healthy. U if he is, I think they’re a tough team. Um, and they had a coaching change. Of course, Tocket’s not there. Uh maybe they get a little boost. Like I’m sort of predicting the Stars with Gulitson, so I’m on board there. LA takes a bit of a regression, but I still really like them. Um I I just I like everything about No, I don’t like everything. But up front, they just they have too good. They have too good of of too much talent in my opinion for them to miss the playoffs. Uh like Kouseno and Copitar, FIA, like there’s just a lot of good players. by field who really came into his own last year. So, uh, Winnipeg’s my team that kind of makes it out. Maybe they crash and burn again. That could come back to bite me in the rear. Uh, Utah as well. Nashville is better. They they make it interesting. Uh, but not quite. Um, so yeah, that’s my my Central West uh rankings. Dallas takes it. Official record 5124-7. I think I got within a win last time. I was I was pretty pretty darn close. 109 points, which would be uh a three-point improvement from from last year if I’m not mistaken. They had 106. Uh Dallas finishes second in the West. Vegas wins it. And uh yeah, we go from there. So, I guess that would set us up for uh Dallas would take on St. Louis in the first round if if if my rankings uh came up uh because St. Louis would be the uh second wild card team. So, uh yeah, that’s that’s where I am. Um, curious to see where uh y’all land. Let me know uh your uh playoff teams in Central Division rankings. Now, goals, assists, point leaders. Feels like there’s two obvious options, maybe even three. I’m going to share you my exact point totals, goals, assist for this trio of Dallas Stars in just a moment. So, I did this last season and I think I completely misfired. If I go back to my point predictions, I had Robo uh crossing the century mark for the second time of in his career. I think I had 102 points. Uh I I mean a misfire is is an understatement. Uh there’s no way I had Duchy I think even in the top three. Uh yeah, I had Robertson, Johnston, Rope is my top three all scoring 30. Rope just missed out on 30. Uh but other than that, it was it was not very good. So, uh, I’m hoping to hit the mark here th this season because it feels like there’s two obvious answers and I I felt that way last year and obviously it didn’t happen. But the trio I have for all of these categories, goals, assist, points, I got Robo, Wyatt, Mo, they can kind of shift around. So bear with me. Uh, the Stars are going to have 240 goal scores this year. That’s where I’m going with this. Jason Robertson hits 43. He leads the stars in goals. Then you have Mo Ranton. He gets 40. Gets that 40 mark. And then Wyatt Johnston comes at number three. He gets 36, which is a threegoal improvement from the year before. Wyatt always has that little that little slump where he struggles to find the back of net for 10 12 games. that’s happened each of the first three years in his career and he still hits 30 goals which is impressive. I’m betting this year he doesn’t have that little blip. This is the season he he just kind of stays steady gets a couple more. So he’s got 36 in him. So top three Robo 43, Mo 40, Wyatt 36. 240 goal scores for Dallas. Okay, assists. Uh you know I love Mo and his playmaking. I I think the power play is going to be big this year. 62 assists. Uh that that’s a lot. Um that would match a careerhigh. Um when he hit I think it was 105 points in Colorado, he had 62. So that would match that. Robo I’m getting to 50. Wyatt I have 44. That would be a large increase for for for Wyatt especially. Um but Mo 62, Robo 50 helpers, Wyatt 44. Then you get into uh the points and I added these up of course. Uh so if it happens that way, I got Mo getting to 102. He leads Dallas. Robo 93 and Wyatt 80 is where I’m coming in. So Wyatt not quite a point per game, but continues to just notch a little bit more season after season. Robo, he had 80 last year. He punches back up playing alongside Mo. Power plays humming. So 102 9380 top three scores for Dallas. Mo Robo White. I really wanted to throw Roe in here. I really did. But you go back and you just you look at Robo and his history. You know, he he hasn’t cracked 80 points in his career. Uh he he he sort of stands around like 60 to 75 points is sort of his sweet spot. um his high his his career high 75 a couple years ago, but like 65 seems to be kind of where he lands. Um, you know, maybe playing with Mo will unlock a little bit more, but I just man I I I kind of wanted to sneak him in there. Um, but I just I feel like these three are going to get a large large chunk of production. Wyatt’s going to play a ton. He played a lot last year. Um, and and Glenn Gooson touched on it too in one of his recent press conferences like Wyatt touches and makes an impact in all parts of the game. Short-handed power play, five on five, four on four, three on three. So, he’s going to pick up extra minutes. So, I just I think it’s tough to to keep him out of the top three. Uh, and maybe maybe I’m not giving enough love to Duchain. I just think with sort of Mo Robo at full flight, um maybe points are harder to come by. Um and I just think those two are going to have a heck of a year. So, um those are my top three for points. I’m curious if anybody has a different stance. That That’s where I’m falling in. Um you know, Rope feels like he could give him a run. Dutchy I I I kind of talked about this a few months ago on one of the episodes. Um, I just that was a career year for for D for Dutchy in a lot of ways. It wasn’t a career year points-wise, but he had his career-high shooting percentage. He was even playing a bit less. He didn’t have as many shots. And look, he’s starting to get up there in age. Um, he’s looked great over the last couple years, but at some point, I think the inevitable decline’s going to come. And I think maybe this is where it it starts to to tail off. So, I I I I find it hard to think he’s going to get to a point per game again. Uh but I could be wrong. I would love to be wrong. I really would. Um because if Dutch is giving you 80 points, I mean, oh, the Stars are in big business. In big business. So, those are my top three. Would love to hear your predictions. U please play along with me in the comments below. 240 goal scorers this year. I feel like that’s a pretty hot take. Um but I think they can do it. I mean like Robo can find the back and net at will. Mo uh we know what he can do. Why not? Why not? Um and Wyatt again just gets a little bit better uh this year. Um we’re talking Wyatt close to a point per game. Glenn Goldson is going to be thrilled if these numbers pop up. Um these may be a bit overzealous, but hey um hey, we can be a little bit bold with some of our predictions here um early on. Um and and to be fair, three players with, you know, 80 points would be something. Um like, uh Duchain Robo last year they were two guys with 80 points or more. I’m curious when Pav was here. Can’t remember off the top of my head if I go back. So Robo the year prior he was the only one to 80 points. Um when Robo had 109, nobody else even got 80. Uh Ben Ben was second leaning score with 78 points. So, uh, this just very bold, but hey, why not? Um, there’s been a couple years some guys have gotten close. Um, and with some of these guys playing together, hey, let’s let’s let’s go out on a limb. So, there you go. U, those are my goals, assists in point leader productions for the Dallas Stars during the 2025 26 season. Probably going to be a giant misfire. Um, again, but we can all dream this happen. If this happens, Stars will win the cup. That’s for dang sure. Okay, now it’s time for some bold predictions. I have three bold predictions for you, including a defenseman, couple defenseman, a Ford, and just an overall team prediction that I have for the Stars this season. So, buckle up. Hot takes about to come in just a moment. Today’s episode of Locked On Stars is brought to you by Indeed. You just realized your business needed to hire someone yesterday. I like these this season. Uh, one of them you may think is not bold depending on on your perspective, but based on how we know this award is handed out, I think it’s I think it’s fair enough to say it’s bold. Miro Hayeskin is a finalist this year for the Norris Trophy. And some of you, again, you may say, well, we know he’s Norris caliber. He should get that, but he doesn’t get enough points and all that stuff. I’m saying this year he gets it. He gets enough offense this season, plays that incredible elite defensive game that we all have come to know and love, and he finishes a finals. His highest his highest spot is seventh. M right I just you look at all the rankings the NHL he he comes in what lowest the fourth maybe fifth best defenseman and he’s only finished seventh. This is his highest finish in North Trophy. He’s a finalist this year. Hardly finishes in the top 10 again. That’s part of this one. Stars have two guys finish the top 10 in Norris voting. How about that? Some bold stuff. And they both stay healthy. That That’s my That’s sort of where I’m coming from with this. Miro’s healthy, Harley’s healthy. They just light it up on the power play. Boom. They both finish in the top 10. Miro’s a finalist for the first time. Boy, if he wins it, hell yeah. Okay, number two. Got a couple players with this one. These are some goal totals. It’s like overunder goal predictions. You know, I’m a big Sam Steel guy. Why not? Sam Steel pots 15 this year. It’s a careerhigh. Previous career highs 10. Sam Steel gets 15. Playing in a bigger role. He’s going to get opportunity to play up in the lineup. I think he’s going to benefit from playing with whoever it may be, whether that’s Johnson, Duchain, Sean. He gets to the net. Boom. It’s 15 this year. Um, so that’s where I’m there. Uh, a part of this I have Lungquist Neils. He hits double digits playing with Harley. He’s going to get more opportunities to score. Uh, despite the big improvement last year defensively, um, we didn’t see as much offense that we may would have liked to see, just five assists in the 39 games, but he had six goals a couple years ago um, in 60 games with Dallas. He gets double digits this year, so that’s a careerhigh. he gets at least 10. Um, so those are a couple goal bull predictions for the Stars. Steel 15, Neil Slungquist hits double digits. So, one on the back end, one up front. Uh, my third and final bold prediction for the Dallas Stars. This is a team one. Um, the Stars finish with the league’s best power play. Glenn Gooson, power play specialist. Uh the Stars under the board, you know, kind of hovering top fiveish. Last year, I think they were down to 17. Last time I checked, they were around 17, like 22%. To lead the league, you got to be somewhere around 28, usually 28. I got stars finishing with the best power play in the NHL. Why not? They have the talent to do it. Gollet and Graham are going to cook up something magical. And um it kind of goes to why I think you know Miro may finish so high. The power play hums they get to pick up a lot of points. Uh we we know what Rant can do. Top unit’s going to be electric. So yes, Stars had the best power play in the league. Those are my three bold predictions. Mirror’s a finalist. Harley fish the top 10 as well in the Norris. Steel 15 goals. Lquist hits double digits. Stars finish with a league’s best power play. Maybe I should throw one more in there. Why not? We have some time. If I had to mull around in this brain of mine, what else could I throw out there? Um, there is there is something I I I thought about uh a couple weeks ago. Trying to see if it is still in the back of my my brain if I can pull it out. Um, you know what? I’ll do this one. Uh, Sean scores 25 this year. I I think that’s bold enough. I know he had 25 a couple years ago. Maybe that’s not bold. You know what? Screw it. He scores 30. Why not? Tyler Sean scores 30. We’re here to be bold. We’re not gonna We’re not going to be right on most of these. Sean gets 30 this year. He had nine and 20 right off the hop a year ago. Looked really good in the preseason again. Screw it. He gets 30 this year. Um yeah, why not? He he can do it. Um he’s he’s still playing at a good level. So I’ll add that one. Maybe he gets 30, too. So I I’m asking a lot out of some of these. Uh but you know, Ben’s down now. You know, Ben’s going to be out for a month. So some of these guys going to get a real opportunity to to light the lamp. So, we’re gonna have three new career, well, not new career, two new career highs. Sean can just find some of that magic. Um, again, it’s been since 2018, 2018 19 season, he scored 30. Um, so, so yeah, that would be something. But, you know, Pav a couple years, um, let’s go back to Pav. He he got 30 a couple seasons in Dallas if I’m not mistaken. Um, let’s go check. Uh there’s no reason uh Sean can’t can’t find some mid-30s magic. So uh okay, he never got 30. Okay, he got really close. Pav did. He got really close. Uh he had 28 was his careerh high in Dallas. And he did that when he was 38. I know he’s playing with some good players. Uh but he did that when he’s 38. So yeah, you can get 30. I’m at 33. Yes. So I’m talking myself into it. There it is. Those are my official 202526 Dallas Stars season predictions, Central Division rankings. We got the West rankings. Um, this is where I’m landing on Dallas and and where I sort of see their season ending. I usually throw this in there, too. Um, for those of you that stuck around, I’ll have D I have Dallas getting to the second round, and I feel like they get knocked out there. I I just Is this their year? It very well could be. It really could. Um if I’m looking at it right now, if I had to if I had to go with my gut, I’m thinking second round they get to. Um and and they get knocked that’s kind of my gut. They get knocked out second round. Um I just I They’ve just played a lot of hockey the last three years. Um I mean they’ve been three years in a row. To make it back four would be remarkable. Um, I’m g have to look that up to see when the last time that’s maybe happened. Um, so second round is where I kind of feel like is the make or break point for for Dallas um, this year. So that’s kind of where I see their season maybe coming to an end. Um, would love to hear yours though. Um, it could be their year. You never know. Goldson could be the boost they needed. Saw it with Vegas a couple years ago when they won. Deboron, boom. I guess maybe the Stars can take a page out of that. So, that is the official Dow Stars predictions. Hope you stayed with me. Sorry I threw a lot at you, but um I enjoyed doing this. And then last year, um well, at the end of the season, I kind of went back and and took a look. Um it’s cool to see where, you know, you just were off by a mile or, you know, maybe you hit something on the head. So, uh we’ll do that. Would love to see yours in the comments, of course. Uh thank you. Thank you for liking, subscribing. For those of you that are new, really appreciate that. um if you’re just hopping on board for us for another new season. Um yeah, I love hockey. Love the Dallas Stars. We love talking about it. So, we’re going to have a great year. Can’t wait for the games to kick off. Just a couple days. Still have a couple more episodes, of course, kind of leading you into that. And um yeah, we’ll have a fantastic week of hockey. Enjoy the games tonight. Um it is Chicago and uh who are they playing tonight? Uh Chicago has as I pull up the NHL app. I should know this, but uh the Panthers. Oh my goodness. Uh Panthers, Penguins, Rangers, and then Kings ABS. That’ll be a fun one to kind of watch to kind of be your night cap. Anyways, have a great great rest of your day, Stars fans. Enjoy the hockey tonight. We’ll see you on the next episode of Locked on Stars. So long.

  1. – Otter has a vezna season as f you to deboure. – bourque breaks out and has 60+ points. – robo has a down year and sign a lower value contract. – they make a big trade for a rhd with somehow not giving up prospects – stars finish 3rd in division and lose in 2nd round as part of growing pains with new coach.

  2. Miro is never gonna finish top three in Norris voting. He's not that type of defender. We can love him…same as we loved Zubov….and still understand that the Norris game is about raw points from a blueliner. I'd take Zubov over a lot of the guys who were ahead of him on Norris voting (unless the name is Lidstrom) I think of Miro the same way.

  3. Bold predictions

    1. Robo signs a new deal in Dallas. Not more than Mikko though. 4 years 10.5 a year
    2. Otter has a Vezina year and wins the Vezina
    3. Stars win the Cup

  4. Bold Predictions:
1 – Robo gets traded before the end of the season. The recent NHL contract signings have been ridiculously high. I won't blame Robo for wanting more in the prime years if his career. Hopefully the Stars get something very valuable for him in return.
2 – The Stars finish the season in 3rd place behind the Avs & the Jets. Stars will get 96 points.
3 – Leading scorer will be Rantanen with 95 points. Bourque gets 70 points and proves he deserves to be a top 6 forward.
