MLB Network | Mark Derosa nailed Ohtani explodes, Dodgers finish off series, sweep Phillies in LA
Time to go home. Oh, I can’t wait. Congrats. I need a day off after that one. Me, too. Oh, no. Shazi’s going there. You You watching the games or cuz I’m not really off. I have been fighting for your honor every day here. He thinks you’re gallivanting in Morocco somewhere. He thinks I’m I want to be. Did I hear I need a day off? All right. I just I guarantee you she had seat like one a bulkhead knees in her. I know she’s she’s grinding with notes and the whole thing. Don’t ask what I texted her yesterday. She said I’m studying. I said for what? You got a midterm coming up. Yes, she does. Phillies are playing Dodgers. Uh division series report is presented. I saw Rob Thompson by booking.com. Stop sucking. Uh Lauren, let let’s start with the Philadelphia Phillies offense. Uh the Dodgers offense is rolling, but the Philadelphia Phillies offense specifically at the top of the order with those three big three. They’ve yet to really get some traction in this series. What are they saying about how they can turn things around? Yeah, Robert, I spoke with Kevin Long yesterday and I said it was at batting practice during the workout day and I said, “How do their swings look?” And he said, “Actually, they look really good.” Of course, everyone presses at times. He said, “But their swings are taking good swings.” And he said, “I think it’s hard for people to understand.” And he gave Blake Snell so much credit. And Dro, you always say this. When Blake is cruising like that, he’s unhatable. He said, “Listen, some of these superstars in this postseason are being pitched impossibly.” He said, “A lot of guys broke into the league when the average and Case in zero, you can attest to this average fast ball velocity was what, 92, 93.” He said, “I checked it. It’s 97.” And it it’s exploding. It’s not like it’s consecutive fast balls. You’re seeing split and slider and curve and change. So you’re seeing one fastball at 97 and then just a mix of misery. Robert, you always say and my favorite thing you say is you say, “I don’t know how these guys get a hit in the big leagues.” And we’re and we’re seeing it right in the postseason. So I was at workout yesterday, saw Trey Turner trying to time his swing by the cages. Everyone’s working on rhythm and timing. Uh but Blake Snell, that’s it’s more of game two is a credit to Snell. Yeah. And and Roki, they were just unhitable at times. Shods, I mean, obviously, first off, you’re never taking days off. I know you’re jet flying like Ric Flair back then your jet fly limousine riding limousine son of a gun. You’re you’re out there with you know obviously have the heartbeat of everything. Have you talked to Dave Roberts? How are the Dodgers setting up their pitching for game three? So case he is singing the praises of Yoshino Yamamoto. He says he is as automatic as can be. And he Yoshi said, “I love the splitter. For me it’s the most reliable.” So I asked Dave Roberts. I said, “Do you feel that same way yesterday?” And he said, “I actually do because he said it protects the fast ball cuz guys see it out of the same hand in the same slot. He’s been impressed with his rookie for two and starters to cover it.” He said, “You know, you you manage each team to their strengths and we knew the bullpen was going to be an issue.” He said, “In a perfect world, if there was a world where I could use five pitchers and win the postseason, sign me up. But that’s not this world. I won’t get through October like that.” So, we knew their bullpen was going to be an issue. He’s trying to, you know, what’s possible trying to use his roster when he can. Case love that. And that’s why Doc’s one of the best. He is. Yeah. All right. Somebody’s got to make it I Aaron Nola has been fantastic his entire career. Yes. But somebody’s got to make it make sense why he’s starting this game for me with Otani and Freddy coming up in the first. And I get it. I You can’t sell me on Lauren that he’s never pitched out of the pen before. That’s why they’re I need you to put your detective boots on and get to the bottom of this. You have Do you have detective boots, Lauren? She’s got them. No, I have cute over the knee boots, which are way more stylish. Those will work. Uh, those work. You’re into those. So, okay. So, we asked him that and he said, “Aaron’s never pitched out of the bullpen.” And basically, Ranger could pitch on the moon. That’s that’s the gist that I get, right? could be in a hotel pitching and he could and there will be, you know, a short leash if they need to to have it. Um, and that’s just the way he’s going to deploy it. He actually was speaking to the media yesterday. Listen to his explanation to that decision. Will Ranger start game three? It’ll be Aaron Nola with Ranger behind him. What’s the reasoning behind that? Uh, Null’s never pitched out of the pen, so how long he goes, I don’t know. But, um, and I trust him. Is there something health-wise with Suarez right now? No, no, no, nothing. Interesting. Yeah. So, he said that Aaron looked good the last time out. Like you said, Dro is hitting 9394. He said, “I’ll be locked in and focus on fast ball command. Can he get that curve over? And can he limit the beginning?” Uh, which we’ve seen in the past. But I wouldn’t be shocked if Aaron goes out there and does well. I just think it’s a gamble. Yeah, Ranger Suarez has been one of the better pitchers in the National League for for a while now. They got lefties at the top of their order. You don’t want to just all of a sudden have an inning blow up on you and it’s four nothing. You’re like, “What if what if you look and it’s three nothing at the bottom of the first inning.” Yeah, that’s that’s worst case scenario for the Philadelphia Phillies. Lauren, it’s been great. Also, they’ll be wearing their powder blues for the first time on the road since 2017. They talked about it for a long time, 10 days in the making. They had to clear it through Major League Baseball because they wanted to make sure there’s a color palette for baseball. That they said they feel more comfortable. They play better. This is the first time in a long time, almost a decade that they will play a complete series on the road in those powder blues. And they are. I love that. I’m pumped up about it. Yeah, maybe. Hey, this is where it turns around. returns. Larry Boa, Manny Trio, Pete Rose, the Hayes Hayes. Yeah. Hey, uh Lauren, it’s been great watching watching you there as part of TBS’s coverage with BA and Jeff Rancor. So, enjoy the game. I’m sorry. Thank you. Working you. Did you? She got me fired up. She threw it up to BA the other day. She’s like, “Let’s rock.” Shah, you’re doing great. You kill it. We’re watching you, Shahad. We’re watching you. Hi, Lauren. Stay humble, Lauren. Stay humble. Lauren, where’s she going? Is she going up to Well, you know what? If anyone deserves to go up there, it’s Lauren. She’s very, very nice. She’s definitely going out. Say hi to my jean jacket while you’re up there, Lauren. Uh, okay. Once again, here is your pitching matchup. The Phillies and the Dodgers. Boy, this is a tough hill to climb, but look, if any group can do it, it’s the guys in that Philadelphia Philly clubhouse. But man, Yamamoto tough tall order. Yeah, it is. Real tall order. Should be a lot of fun tonight uh on TBS. And let’s talk about Mookie Betts, specifically his defense. We know that he is finding it at the plate, but Dro, this guy is a Gold Glove winning outfielder. He shifts over to shortstop and all he does is he’s now tied for most defensive runs saved at the shortstop position. How do you explain that? And I think I think if you put it all together, you can make the argument he’s one of the greatest defenders of all time. Yeah, the ability to move around. And not only the ability to move around, I know he started as a second baseman, but to go to the outfield, be a gold glove right fielder the way he was for years at a time, and then and then come to shortstop, come back in. Yeah. As a as a former utility player, it’s very easy if you play your whole time in your life as a shortstop to kind of bounce around. Second’s a little confusing cuz you feel like you’re on the other side of the universe. It takes a minute. Moving over to third’s a day off. Going to the outfield, you’re just flat bored. I felt like and I could hear the chirping, which I didn’t love. I didn’t know what pitches were being called, but to think I sat in the outfield for years and then come to shortstop and to play the defense that he has played, I just I wanted to give him love for it. Yeah, it’s you’re right. It’s one thing to, you know, be an infielder, then an outfield, but it’s another thing to be a gold gloved right fielder, then come into shortstop, which is the toughest position to play in the big leagues, and then be one of the best, you know, and really quick, it makes me just think, you think of him as a bowler. I’m just saying he bowls those 300 yards. He’s one of those guys that you come across in life. He’s great at ping pong, great at bowling. Yes. And whatever he does, he’s the best at. So, why wouldn’t he be the one of the best shorts stops? No. Just a remarkable player and definitely going to end up in Coopertown.

Baby blues or not Dodgers in 3.
Nola is just an opener
Now let's start thinking about the matchup with the Brewers LOL
when the manager was asked at 4:26 if Suarez was injured, he said "no no no, nothing". I'm not an expert but the WAY he said "no no no nothing" SCREAMS yes he's sooooo injured
think about the cover-up on Suarez's injury. When the series started, they announced 3 lefties in a row, with Suarez starting GAME 2. Then they lose GAME 1 and all of sudden they said Luzardo is starting GAME 2. Now they are saying Nola is starting game 3. Never mind Suarez has a career 1.43 ERA in 37 innings in the postseason, and instead they "trust Nola". LOL I don't know why they are trying to cover-up the injury, but it's pretty transparent what's going on
