Should Detroit Lions or Kansas City Chiefs be favored for Week 6 SNF? | FNIA | NFL on NBC
Yeah, I almost go back to the question, are the Chiefs in trouble? It’s it makes you go, no, they’re not. You still like certain aspects of their team. Absolutely. The talents there. You mentioned that, but now they have the Lions coming to town. The Lions have won four straight games, are averaging over 40 points per game over that stretch. This is one of the best teams in the NFL. And this feels like one of those must win. You You can’t go to two and four. I maybe get, but this feels like that kind of game, doesn’t it, coach? It is. It is that game. And uh after coming off that one that they just had, losing a game that they were up 14 points, now you’re coming on a short week against a hot team that is putting up points. Everything’s there and you got to come through with Chiefs maximum effort and you’ve got to somehow win this game. And uh to me, I I would say that’s if they don’t win this game, I think you can kind of ex them off things. Yeah, I like what the Lions are doing on both sides of the ball. Even on the defensive side of the ball, it’s they’re they’re playing just solid football. They’re competing on the outside. You look at their corners, they don’t have great great corners, bigname allp protype corners, but these guys are really highly competitive guys. Even the linebackers, Aiden Hutcherson, he looks he looks remarkable, coach, coming off a major injury that he came off of. He’s jumping over people. He’s consistently um providing pressure on the quarterback. So, I like Weather Lions that and to me just watching them play, they they don’t have any issues with missing all their both their coordinators, coach. Yep. No, they’re they’re playing good ball and I am uh loving the way they are right now and they’re a matchup problem for for Kansas City. So, this is going to be a tough one. And that offensive line is starting to come around, too. Sorry. What makes you say that, coach? What specifically would you say is a bad matchup? Well, uh, on the offensive side of the ball, they run the ball. Kansas City is a little soft and run defense. Kansas City plays all man coverage and they’ve got a bunch of receivers that can get open and that are going to be a problem covering. Kansas City is not rushing the passer real well with four guys. And Detroit has a great offensive line. So, they’re going to test this defense for sure. Yeah. And also Kansas City’s linebackers, they don’t do a great job covering the tight ends and the backs out of the back field. These guys, they want to they want to play aggressive on a run, but they they’re not very good in coverage. Yeah. And you play a ton of manto man and matching up with Leapora and Gibbs. Uh that’s going to be an issue. Yeah. Yeah. So So Kansas City has lost to the Chargers, Eagles, and Jags. Those are the three lo their wins are over the Giants and the Ravens. I mean th those are their only two wins. They’re they’re two and eight combined those those teams. Go ahead. Kansas City’s got to prove it. Who are you? You haven’t beaten a good team yet this year. So you’re going to play a good team on Sunday. Can you beat them? Wow. And you look at you look at what the Lions have done. So it was 2713 at Green Bay. That was when the panic started. The coordinators are gone. You know, there’s going to be issues all year for the Lions. Four straight wins, Bears, Baltimore, Cleveland, Cincinnati for them. Golf back completing three4s of his passes, 75% 12 touchdowns, two interceptions. Like, Rod, are you looking at Jared Golf at this point going, “This is the same Jared Golf we saw that was playing with Ben Johnson.” And does this feel the same to you now? Yeah, I mean, I think he feels very comfortable where he’s at. He’s he’s already accepted Detroit as his home and he and you know just the weaponry that he has, the ability to run the football, his relationship and connection with Amar St. Brown. Um he brings he brings that toughness and really sets that tone for that wide receiving core. I like where they’re at. He looks very comfortable behind that offensive line, that makeshift off offensive line, but they’re still running the football coach. They’re still committed to running the football, being physical, um continuing with their identity, and that’s the key. Like they’re not changing anything. Just like you said, coach, they’re not. We are who we are regardless of who’s calling the plays. Yep. They’re the best offense in football. They’re the most balanced. They’ve got a good offensive line. They’ve got explosive receivers. Quarterback’s not turning the ball over. They’re playing outstanding offensive football. Yeah. Aman Ros St. Brown, six receiving touchdowns already. leads the entire NFL. So, who do you feel like should be the favorite? Rod, I’ll start with you here. The way the Lions have been playing, the desperation of the Chiefs, who who would you expect to win if you were setting this? Go ahead. I I expect the Lions to win. And offensively, they know their identity. They want to run the football. They want to do a lot of play action pass and force you as a defense to cover the entire field. They’re going to take shots with Winston with Jameson. Um, not Jameson. Winston, Jameson Wood. Yeah, sorry about that, guys. But yeah, they’re gonna take three or four shots with him down the field. They have a lot of confidence in this offense and they have a lot of confidence in the guys that they have, coach. Yeah, and if you’ve watched the last few games, you’d have to say the Lions are the favorites. They’re scoring 35 to 45 points a game. Uh everything tells you they’re going to put up th those kind of numbers. Can the Kansas City offense keep up? Kansas City’s been inconsistent? I I don’t think they can. But Jack, you mentioned the one thing the Chiefs do have. They’ve got the home field and they’ve got desperation. This is pretty much a must-win game for them. So, we’re going to see the best of who the Chiefs are. Even though they’re coming off a short week, but you’re talking about who should be the favorites. Short week on the road coming back against probably the best team in the NFC. I I’d have to say I don’t want to give away my pick early, but I have to say Detroit. I would have thought the same thing. I would have thought the Lions, too. But this could be a playoff type mindset of a game at home. It is too many times and it is in fact the Chiefs two and a half point favorites at home. And so we shall see Night Football. We’re going to be there. There’s only one way to do it. We put the ball on the tea and we play it out. KC needs this game. There has been no the last five years, we said it, no two and four teams that have gone on to make the playoffs. So Casey needs to find a way to get this win here. Gentlemen, I can’t wait to see you. Coach said barbecue. I’m thinking Saturday night barbecue. Who knows? Yeah, we’ll do it. Let’s do it. Let’s do it. Hi, I’m Mike Trico and thanks for watching. Make sure to hit subscribe for the latest news and highlights from NBC Sports.

WATCH HOW THE REFS WILL TRY TO HELP KC ALL GAME SUNDAY.
KC is favored because everyone's betting Detroit. Vegas is trying to get more KC money.
No st brown is going to be bad
The Lions need to run the ball like maniacs. Keep the ball out of Mahomes hands as much as possible.
Lions are Salty …
2:42 the Giants and the Ravens, and who has DET beat? Chicago (when they couldn't field a team,) those same Ravens, the Browns and the Bengals. Not exactly legendary kills. LMAO
GO LIONS!!!🦁🏈💪
Can't stand Taylor Swift!!!
Detroit wins, but KC makes the playoffs anyway.
We'll see.
Detroit is the best. Kansas City, very yesterday.
Goff vs Mahomes 4-0
Lions I wish had dj Reeder and they are missing so many players in the cornerback room. This will be a close game but I'll go with the lions 34 -31 chiefs
Saturday & Sunday Night BBQ Coach.. .. Chiefs Are Cooked.
Yes. One of them should be favored.
0:01 Tony we don’t care about your bigoted ways
Kc will make the lions look like the ravens 28 – 21 Chiefs
Even with Mahomes being the referee crew chief, I will take the Lions. 31-24
P.S. – Goff is the coordinator whisperer. Ben Johnson didn't make him, it was the other way around along with all of the other weapons.
34-28 Lions
34-33 Chiefs due to Lions defensive injuries. Hope I'm wrong. Go one Pride! 😊
If I was ever going to bet on a game, it would be the Lions in this one.
Vegas knows the refs are going to help KC
Lions beat nobody. Go KC!
Lions 34-23
Some of us have waited a half century or more for a Lions’ team such as this…we’re going to enjoy it.
Detroit 34-24
One piece that wasn't mentioned here about the Lions offense: they are no stranger to long, sustained drives that take a lot of time off the clock. Mahomes can't use his magic if he's not on the field.
I got no love for the Chiefs but don't discount them. Spag's defense is not to be taken lightly. And Mahomes gets up for big games.
Detroit 36-25
Not having DJ Reed and Arnold will make it easier for Mahomes to have success throwing. So instead of a double digit victory over Chiefs I look for no more than a 3 point victory.
Kc wins
GOOOD LIONS! 37-27💙💙🙌🏽
