  1. Bains hate is so forced, between him Raty and Karlsson he's the only call-up who can match the speed of Chytil and Garland, I don't see the problem with keeping him around and giving him a stronger chance.

  2. People want to compare Cootes to Horvat but I think Cootes is a much faster skater than Horvat was in his rookie year also Cootes has a much better defensive IQ, he's a 25 year old in an 18 year olds body. Cootes is solid physically but needs to fill out more to be the bull Horvat was in his early years. But in todays NHL its more about systems, details and body positioning than it is raw physical strength anymore. Cootes has made the team, I don't think he'll be sent down. He's a really solid centre for the Canucks and they can't afford not to have him in the lineup. As a right shot and with his faceoff abilities he just brings too much value to the team.

  3. Bains is a cool story. Undrafted and went to WHL to dominate, then went to the AHL to dominate and win a Calder Cup and now he’s playing in the NHL. Obviously in a 12th or 13th forward spot, but he is still young and can make the jump. Management likes his compete level. Hope he proves the critics wrong!

  4. Media: training camp is over are you excited to start the season?
DPT: yes training camp is over and we're excited to start the season

Perfect answer. This is how you handle questions. No notes.

  5. Keeping Bains was the right move, in my opinion. You don’t want to lose him for nothing. he has value and could be a solid asset in a trade. Personally, I’m glad they kept him. We’ve seen him play—he’s skilled and smart. He just needs consistency, and I believe he’ll achieve that with maturity.
