QB Tua Tagovailoa meets with the media | Miami Dolphins
he feel comfortable with? What can we help him with if it’s a drive starter call or whatnot to get his hands on guys to get a better feel for it? Uh it’s it’s sort of conversations like that, trying to hear him out and whatnot, but then it’s also not not overanalyzing just what he has to do, but also making sure that okay, if he if that’s what works for him, does that also work for the rest of the guys? If not, then we got to kind of come up with a game plan with with that and getting all our guys in the groove together. The last two games, you’ve had some convicted, confident throws. Um, to what extent do you feel like footwork and mechanics are the biggest key in that? And to what extent do you think mindset and approach plays a role in that? I think both could be true. uh the mindset, the footwork, um the conviction, and then it’s also it’s also conviction, but then feel for it as well. So, I think there’s a lot that that goes into into it when it comes to wanting to push the ball down the field or wanting to get guys the ball in certain areas of the field. What was alluding to with the first question, you and Justin Herbert are always going to be compared for obvious reasons. What do you think of how his career has stacked up and his abilities? I think he’s done a great job. He’s done a phenomenal job within his career uh this far. I hope he has a long career. I know everyone wants to do the comparisons uh with all the dudes that were in my draft class. Um but you know, all you can do is be happy for the guys where they’re at um in their life of football um you know and and wish the best for them. That’s that’s all that’s all I can I would I would want to do and uh hope the same in return. You know, one of the things that McDaniel praised you for earlier today is your ability to tune out the noise, right? Both positive and negative. You know, obviously that’s easier said than done. How have you been able to do that? And has it grown a little bit more difficult this year with, you know, the losses? Yeah, I I would say it hasn’t it hasn’t been as difficult uh this year just because as I’ve said in prior interviews. I’m not on social media. Like I don’t have any of that. Um and then outside of that, like I I go home, I see my kids. Whether I throw five picks or five touchdowns, we win the game, we lose the game, I get to come home to my kids who are happy to see me every time. On the third down in the last game where you slid a couple of yards short of the the sticks, how hard was that for you to not go for it? Yeah, that that was that was that was tough. Um, and as I’ve said in previous interviews, that it all happens thinking umwise in milliseconds, I feel like. Um, you can see as I’m stepping up and looking to run, I’m looking at where the sticks are and then trying to find where the line is. Can feel this guy coming coming down to make the tackle and then it’s within a split second there. Should I, should I not? and I just slid. That was probably more where if it’s a game on the line type of situation where Yeah. No, no doubt. Um where we need it um in order for us to go down and and maybe potentially stay on the field. Yeah, for sure. I’m curious about the the brotherhood of that draft class a little bit. Obviously, you’re close to Jaylen, but um can you characterize the communication you’ve had with the other quarterbacks over the years? Do you guys each other? I would say I I haven’t really had too much communication with a lot of the guys in my draft class. Um, everyone’s in a different stage in their lives, right? Some are married, some aren’t married. Um, I don’t know, maybe some dating supermodels, some not. I like I don’t I don’t know, you know? So, everyone’s in different stages of their lives. Um, and so I I would say haven’t really kept in contact with with any of them. What’s on the other side of the ball watching the Chargers on defense? The the disguise of coverage looks to to be one of their calling cards to me and Derwin James seems to be the point the focal point of that. Is that an accurate assessment? And how tough is it to get ready for a player like Derwin James? Yeah, for sure. I I definitely would say he he’s a he’s a game changer when it comes to what you want to do offensively in terms of him wanting to blitz, him wanting to be in the box, show blitz, and then drop in a zone or play man. uh the way they try to disguise it, I think they do a really good job uh doing so with Duran. What’s the process of developing chemistry with Wallally been like? Well, it’s it’s been uh it’s been cool just just because of um his story, right? Not like he he hadn’t been playing last year, then he comes in his first game, he gets two touchdowns, next game, you know, he catches a good amount of balls and then he ends up having another touchdown. It’s like you couldn’t even write this up in a way. Um, but I think for a guy of his caliber in a way for me makes it a little easier when it comes to like the size that he has. I can see him like it it’s kind of like I I am able to to adjust that way. Uh whereas, okay, I know this guy’s here, but I know he’s going to be there. So, I got to trust that, you know, when I throw this ball, he’s going to be there. And then that’s where you kind of fine-tune things with timing with certain guys. Looking back, why do you think what do you think were some of the reasons why the offense couldn’t get the ball back to him after those first five catches he had? Uh, well, I I wouldn’t say we weren’t trying to get him the ball. It’s just within the progression of how we’re we’re calling plays and how we’re reading it. Um, sometimes we don’t progress all the way through or sometimes we like a certain matchup that we called for a play and we want to work that instead of, you know, trying to go through the progression. The way that they gave uh Waller attention in the second half, was that anywhere similar to what teams have done to Tyreek in the past? I mean, I know it’s not the same players. Yeah, I I I would say Yeah, I would say no. just because although they were in their two shell, it wasn’t anything like a tricky two or they played quarter so they were flat. They were just all right, try to keep it in front of us and if he tries to go deep then, you know, we’ll try to stay flatfooted and and run with him. So, I think it’s different. How would you describe the importance of Sunday’s game in light of the one and four record? Yeah, well, I would say they’re all important for us. Um, we got to look at it as as every game is its own season, but we gota we got to like cut all of that out now and we gota we got to start now. Um, if we want to make a run and we want to start making moves. Um, and that that that’s what I would say about that. Had 110 yards. Last time Tyreek was down a couple years ago, he had 130 in that game. Do you see anything different from him when he’s kind of the top guy in the offense or is it kind of business as usual for for Jaylen Wadd? Well, I I would say Jub has been been the same. Um whether he’s the guy that’s getting the most attention, whether he’s not the guy getting the most attention, he’s been the same um with the way his his uh game is, with the way he attacks his game, and then his attention to details. I I wouldn’t say he’s he’s changed. He’s always been the same. Thanks

6 years and still having a problem with the gameplan. The coaching staff should handle the game planning. The problems with this team are endless.
Tua as you heard said, it doesn't matter if you win or lose if I throw 5 picks my checks don't bounce.
When will you come to the podium and say that I’m Terrible and I stole The Miami Dolphins Money
Tua is a baby, he has no social media because he can’t take the criticism
Fix the trenches!!!!
TUA THE GOAT!!!
Having no social media does not save you from the reality. You still have to live in a world where everybody talks about the failures and mistakes that have now piled up to a terrible team with no chemistry
So sad to not hear him take accountability
Our franchise QB saying he doesn't care about wins or losses he just cares about going home to his kids…
This sucks….
He's a meeting that he doesn't have what it takes he's averaged we just going to have to deal with it
I’m a really good QB guys…you just don’t know it 😂
Show them what's up Tua. You are the QB man go get rm
Tua cant handle pressure when the game is on the line. When the OLine collapses he panicks and rushes his decisions or he gives up and takes the sack. This whole block out the noise nonsense is not translating on the field. When are the journalists going to ask if he is the right man to lead this franchise?
Bench him coach.
Get the RUN game going! Simple as that
Ever since he changed his look, he lost his swag. This is the Tua from TEMU.
Year 6, and he cant make adjustments presnap,
