The Chiefs could FINALLY be catching a much needed break…
So, the Chiefs are essentially a fully healthy team heading into week six. Meanwhile, their next opponent, an incredible team in the Detroit Lions, are dealing with several injuries from key starters on both sides of the ball. A couple of them are new and even a little surprising. And I’ll break down why this could be a bit of a muchneeded break for a Chiefs team that really needs a win this weekend. So, I’ve got to talk about that. Andy Reed and Mahomes speaking to the media today and more. But first, how about those zoos? All right, first up, this is crazy to say, but the 2 and3 Kansas City Chiefs are going to be taking on the 4-1 Detroit Lions this Sunday night at Arrowhead. And Casey’s currently two-point favorites, even though, as you can see on screen here, most analysts are picking the Lions to win it. I mean, I don’t really blame them. Detroit has rattled off four straight wins. They’ve got a pretty solid offensive line, weapons galore on that side of the ball, and their defense is tied for third and takeaways with nine. If they have concerns anywhere though, it’s going to be on their defense, which I’ll get to here in a moment in this quick hitter interview with Lions Syndicate, a very solid Lions content creator here on YouTube. The thing is, their offense is so dominant that it might not matter. They are currently averaging nearly 35 points per game and averaged over 30 per game last season as well. This team is honestly pretty fun to watch with lots of explosive plays, some trick plays even. Oh, and that running back duo that they have between Jamir Gibbs and David Montgomery is very electric. Both of them scored a touchdown last week, and that is the 14th time they’ve done so, which ties an NFL record for most running back duo touchdowns in the same game. And that ties them up with Emit Smith and Daryl Johnston. The thing is that took Smith and Johnston quite a while. I think around 10 years. Meanwhile, Jir Gibbs and David Montgomery have pulled this off in just three years together and are going to be well worth keeping eyes on this Sunday. One good note though is that Jared Goff doesn’t scramble like at all. Borderline statue in the pocket, which has been a problem for the Chiefs defense this year. But does that really matter if they are putting up 35 points a game? Not really. Andy Reed and Mahomes spoke to the media today and they both gave high praise to the Lions during their pressers, saying they are a really good football team. They’re solid on both sides of the ball in the trenches and have done a good job of minimizing mistakes. That’s the focus for the Chiefs as we all know. Getting rid of these self-inflicted wounds. 13 penalties on Monday Night Football and then you drop an INT on defense. You had the pick six. Big Red said we’re going to take care of that. It’s something they’ve got to fix. That can’t keep happening and they are focusing on that this week during practice. You can’t have the penalties, turnovers, and mistakes because as we all know, the parody in the league is way too close. Mahomes shared that the offense as a whole has continued to play better over the last few weeks. But to win these close games, you have to execute at a higher level. He took blame for his pick six, of course, saying that was a big play, a 14-point swing in one go. He also said he needs to try to make that tackle better or at least slow Devin Lloyd down on that play to allow somebody else on the team to make the tackle. And honestly, had the pick six not happened, I don’t think we’re even talking much about the offense at all because that would have been 35 points scored on a top three, top five defense in the league after putting up 37 the week prior. But instead, we are all scrutinizing every phase of the game, offense, defense, and special teams. Rightfully so, to be honest, because of yet another painful loss full of errors that the team wasn’t able to overcome in another one-score game. Mahomes added that making the winning plays on offense is the next step they need to help take them to that next level. Three out of five games so far, Mahomes has also been the team’s leading rusher. It’s not ideal, okay? Even though the running back room did a better job last week. And when asked about this, if he wants to be the team’s leading rusher, Mahomes said, “However we win football games, I don’t care how that looks, but it doesn’t look like that’s helping us right now. So, if other guys get running and we start winning football games, I’ll take that.” Well, so will we all, Patrick. Yet again, had that pick six been a touchdown for the Chiefs instead, he probably wouldn’t even have needed to lead the team in rushing yards, and they would have drained clock with a bunch more carries. Regardless, Mahome shared that this week’s match up with the Lions is an extremely important game. There’s no way around it. This is a really good football team, and they will have to match that intensity on every phase of the ball this Sunday. They’ve got to find a way to get a win. And that’s why this quick hitter interview with Derek from Lion Syndicate is well worth a listen here because we dive into some areas of concern for both teams. The Lions are really banged up in one very key position group as well as how this game could play out given the state of each team’s roster. Then after that, I’ll dive into both teams injury reports because while it’s still very early on in the week, the Chiefs look very healthy. Meanwhile, the Lions have a few crucial players who didn’t practice. All right, Derek. Sunday night football. Chiefs Lions. The Lions are a bit of a buzzsaw right now. You lost week one, but have rattled off four straight W’s. I think it’s the number one scoring offense in the entire NFL. Meanwhile, the Chiefs defense, they are still searching for their identity a little bit. How are you feeling when you look at the state of the Lions offense and maybe some of the injuries? I know left tackle is a a little bit of a concern at least from an injury standpoint. But how are you feeling heading into this game when you look at your high-powered offense against the Chiefs defense? Well, I’m looking at kind of like we were against the Ravens, right? We had to come out and we had to contain Lamar. And I think that when it comes to your quarterback, we were able to do that before, but I don’t think we sacked him back in 2023. I think that’s going to be a critical factor. The Lions do have the number one offense in the NFL, but the defense is a bit, you know, it’s kind of up and down. We had a down game against the Bengals, but had a kind of great game against the Browns, right? So, I think that when it comes to the offense, we can’t we’re not going to be able to falter as much as we have against the Bengals. Like, we’re going to have to be on P’s and Q’s. We’re going to Arrowhead. It’s a legit place to play. One of my favorite places to go on the road. And I think that the Lions, their offense has found their rhythm. And I think when it comes against the defense, we didn’t go against Chris Jones last time, our left tackle. He’s going to be out. We got essentially a rookie there. And you saw, I don’t know if you saw what happened, but Trey got a clean sack on Jared Goff. Cannot let that happen again. So, I think that the Lions, their offense is clicking and we can compete with this Chief’s defense, man. Yeah, I did I did see that, but that’s also Trey Hendrickson and he’s one of the best in the business. So, you’re not going to have that. You know, here’s a crazy stat for you. Aiden Hutchinson has 31 pressures so far this season and he’s tied for first. You know who he’s tied with? No. George Carlos. So, not all pressures are created equal. You’re not going into this game being like, “Oh, we have to scheme around George Caroftus.” And he’s a fine piece to the Chiefs Dline. I’m not trying to be disrespectful, but it’s Chris Jones. It’s Chris Jones and then somebody else needs to win. But with all that being said, like Trey Hendrickson, absolute game wrecker. I think you you’ll have a little bit more success whether it’s a young left tackle or not against whoever’s over there. It could be Mike Dana, could be Charles Amin. You should be a little safer over there. Even though I as a Chiefs fan want to see more wins, I will say this too. You said it was a not a great game in some regard against the Bengals, but at one point it was 28-3 and yeah, they got up to 24 points, but at one time, even late in the fourth, it was like 35 to 17. I never viewed that as close. I looked at some of those touchdowns as like borderline garbage time touchdowns. So, I think you are more critical on your team than I am just when looking at it from the outside. The defense, they’re pretty banged up, at least in the secondary. You guys went through a bunch of injuries last year and was probably a big reason why you didn’t make the big game in my opinion. You are healthier on the front. Dline looking better. Hutchinson, the linebackers I think are looking pretty good, but that secondary, I think you’re down three or four corners. How are you feeling about that? And looking at the Chiefs offense, that is starting to find their identity. hung 30 plus 37 I think on the Ravens and then they they were this close to 35 on the Jags. The Pick Six obviously flipped it, but they put up 28 and were this close to putting up 35 against a better defense in the Jags. But how are you feeling about that? Any concerns you have on that side of the ball? Yes, I do because and before I get to the rest of Derek’s answer here, trust me, it’s a good one. I know that most of us live really busy lives and therefore we’re running around all over the place from work to this event, that event, chasing kids. You know the deal. Well, for me personally, I don’t travel much really at all ever. But I am busy trying to make as much content as possible for every single one of you. He’s probably going to go on IR. DJ Reed, which has been playing phenomenal. He’s already on IR. We brought in Trey Flowers. He immediately played. We brought in a guy for a workout. We actually signed someone today that I have to make a video about when we get off here. But last time we played you guys, we went against Tony, right? Sir Drops a lot, like what I like to call him. Now we’re going against Worthy, which is from what I understand the fastest player in the NFL or something like that. So, I am a bit concerned because I am a huge Dline guy and I feel like that we have to be able to make Patrick uncomfortable to make it easier on our secondary because I’m going to be honest, we do have Amique Robinson. He’s been playing very well. I don’t really know who’s going to be on the other side if it’s going to be Trey Flowers or Avante Maddox or who they’re going to decide to go with. But I am a bit concerned about that because although Aiden has a sack, every game that the Lions have a sack in, he has a sack, but it’s opposite him. It’s can the our interior Dline get pressure. Can we contain? Can we make Patrick uncomfortable to help out the secondary? And the thing about it is is Terion Arnold was playing. He he had a lot of pass interference calls, a lot of, you know, it was rough for him. It really was. He was going against some of the best wide receivers in the game from the gate. So, I am a bit concerned about that because of the fact that those two guys are down. They’re going to be and they’re going to be down a while. But, as far as the Chiefs, we’ll see what the Lions can do. We’re all about next man up the Lions. Dan Campbell said we don’t miss a beat. He don’t expect to miss a beat. So, we’ll see. But I am concerned about that secondary though. That’s going to be a big one for me matchup wise is the Dline of the Lions and the O line of the Chiefs because I do have some confidence there that the Chiefs offense can put up points if the O line holds. And they are a better, more competent line so far this year than they were last year. And that’s because the left tackle spot has been upgraded quite a bit. Josh Simmons, even as a rookie, is better than any left tackle the Chiefs had out there last year. And it’s really not close. Uh Jawan Taylor, if he’s not drawing flags, he’s okay. Kingsley Sumata is getting better every single week and then you know what you have in Creed Humphrey Trey Smith. So that’s a big thing to watch for me because if the line can hold I think that they have to and the Chiefs have to put up points. You you have to I tweeted out yesterday I think the Chiefs are going to have to score at least 30 if they want a chance to win this game because you guys are an absolute buzzsaw. Meanwhile, the Chiefs defense, you can always look at plays that happened or didn’t happen in games, right? The Chiefs should have picked off Trevor Lawrence on a play. They didn’t. They drove down and scored a touchdown. So, that would have wiped out seven, but that didn’t happen. So, they were a Nick Bolton like bat and fumble at the goal line from allowing the Jags offense to score like 31 points because yeah, they scored 31 total, but that was a pick six. That was a defensive touchdown. So, they were this close to allowing a more of like a middle of the pack, slightly above average offense of putting up 31 points. Meanwhile, they’re going up right now this week against the number one offense in all of football. We had a struggle that that Green Bay game. We didn’t have any preseason reps for our starters and we came out looking like it in that that week one. But ever since then, there was a lot of questions, you know, early on about our offensive coordinator, and he said, you know, hold my, you know, what and he said, you know, we can we we we’re going to get it together. He said, we we’re going to stick to the run. We’re going to do what we need to do. And he turned it around. And the the thing that I am I’m not concerned about this, but I am anticipating how are we going to go up. We didn’t play Travis Kelce last time. I was there, got the call at the last minute that he wasn’t going to be in. Uh there was no Chris Jones. He was sitting up in the press box, you know, enjoying the view. So, I’m wondering what we’re what is that going to look like? So, there’s I cannot wait to be there. I’m excited about it. I went last time. It was phenomenal. Had the time of my life at Arrowhead and I hate to say that, but it was great. So, I’m looking forward to this matchup. But my thing is, Patrick, this is the first time we’re going to play him over 30. He seems to have lost a little bit of a step. I don’t know, but he’s still that dude. He’s still that dude. And I’m wondering what are what are we going to be able to do? And I think you you said it best about putting up points. I’m looking at the comparisons now and the offense, they’re pretty much outside of points per game, they’re really close in a lot of the categories. Third down offense. The Lions are 19th. The Chiefs are tied for 11. So, I thought it was going to be a little easier for us than initially, but the Chiefs are kind of coming after that 0 and2 start coming coming along, man. And I think that it’s going to be a better matchup than I expected initially. And hey, if you’re enjoying this convo with Derek and want to check out more Lions news this week, make sure to give his channel a sub on YouTube. He’s dropping several videos a day to keep us all on the know of everything going on with Detroit as we gear up for this Sunday night matchup. Link is in the pinned comment and description down below. It’s an interesting thing that you bring up. The Chiefs didn’t have Kelsey or Chris Jones last time, but it was two years ago. It’s kind of two different teams now. I have a lot of respect for Goff. I think he’s firing on all cylinders. You’ve got Aman St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Jir Gibbs, you’ve got Montgomery, a very good rushing attack. And that’ll be something else that I I am going to try to watch out for is the rushing attack. I think the Chiefs have done a pretty good job of stopping run games that have normally been pretty good. Think of Henry. Think of even ETN. Last week he was averaging 100 yards a game heading into this and they held him to 49 a half. Where they’ve really struggled is giving up QB scrambles. And I am very thankful that Jared Goff doesn’t I mean he doesn’t do that. I I saw him play a game earlier this season where he had a chance to scramble for a third down and he was like, “Nah, that threw it and he dirted it to the It was a good decision in theory if it was a good ball, but he tried to throw it to the side. It was dirted.” So, I am glad that he doesn’t do that, but you just have so many weapons that the Chiefs have to watch out for. Even Leaporta, I didn’t even mention him. He’s a really good tight end as well. So, this is going to be one of the toughest opponents that the Chiefs play all season. And if they want to win, you can’t come out and miss all these execution. You can’t have all the errors. You can’t have 13 penalties for 10 and whatever yards. You can’t mess up on special teams like that. Drop int six at the goal line. And they had a pick six two years ago. You called them sir drop a lot or whatever you called Cadarius Tony. But yeah, he he gifted one man right to Brian Branch. So a lot of good pieces over there. I am hesitant to say the Chiefs are going to win this game, but I do think they have paths to victory and they really need the W. You get Rice back week seven and then the the schedule lightens a little bit. They still have a hard schedule, don’t get me wrong, but this first six games was absolutely brutal and you’re doing that without Rice. So, there’s reinforcements coming, but two and four is not what I want to see from this Chiefs team when Rice comes back. Perfect case scenario is 500, which I was hoping the Chiefs would get past the Jags and then, okay, if if you’ve got to take an L to the Lions, that’s fine. But I just think they’re in a place where it’s not worst case scenario if they lose, but it’s just a borderline playoff game for the Chiefs as far as importance goes. Obviously, this is an NFC team, but a very important game. you guys can afford to lose this one a little bit more. Even though, yeah, you would rather move to 5-1, I get it. But hey, if you can if you can call somebody and just say, “Hey, man, come on, man. Let’s ease up just a little bit on offense.” No, I’m just playing. But much respect to this team. How are you feeling this game actually plays out from a prediction standpoint in your opinion as you watch from the awesome stands at Arrowhead? Um, I’m I’m not I don’t consider myself a biased fan. I’m a very, you know, we call it the uh Honolulu Blue Kool-Aid drinkers and I am a very realistic fan and I think that we have the team to beat the Chiefs. Like I I really And you’re right about the team being different from two years ago. This is We did not have the number one offense two years ago. I think we had the number three offense. Now we had the number one last year. We got the number one this year. It is a completely different team. I am I’m confident in this team when it comes to putting points on the board. My thing has always been defense and I think it’s going to be a really good game, man. Like I really am excited about it and like you said, Arrowhead is insane. It’s one of the best plays. I’ll just leave you guys with this. 77,000 I believe is what it can hold. I was there with 71 open air stadium. I still needed earplugs. This thing is I I told myself if we ever play the Chiefs in Arrowhead again, I have to be there. The experience was great from the the tailgating to the the stands. Everything about Arrowhead was great. and we we got the win. That was the best part. So, I’m expecting the Lions to win this game. I did not I didn’t think we were going to beat the Ravens. Now, I’m confident in this team that the offense is clicking and that we can beat the uh Kansas City Chiefs, man. So, that’s I’m going to take the Lions to win this game. All right. Well, if the Lions do want a better chance at winning this game, which again, I think they are a great opponent and they have a very good chance of winning themselves already, but they want to be as healthy as humanly possible because the injury reports for both teams came out today. It’s very early in the week, okay? Not worth freaking out one way or another here. But the Lions have already placed a couple guys on IR. They’re banged up in that cornerback room. And Terry and Arnold with the shoulder. He’s not going to be playing in this game. But look at a couple other guys on their roster that did not practice today. Taylor Decker, that is their left tackle. Then Kirby Joseph with the knee. He is a ball hawk safety. One of the best guys in their secondary, so keep an eye out for him. And then look at this. Wide receiver Alman Ross St. Brown didn’t practice with a wrist injury. I don’t know what’s going on with that because I believe he played every snap or the entire game on Sunday against the Bengals. That’s one worth keeping an eye on. And then another defensive back in Brian Branch was limited today with an ankle. He got taken off the field with trainers for a minute during that Bengals game. They taped him up and he went back in the field. So, I think he’s going to play, but he is also potentially not going to be 100% out there. The Lions very banged up in the secondary, and the Chiefs are going to need to take every bit of advantage of that as they can because again, if you want to win this game, you probably need to score at least 30 points. Then, if you look at the Chiefs injury report, night and day from the Lions here, every single player was a full participant on today’s injury report. For what it’s worth, this was more of a walkthrough. I believe Matt Derrick of Chiefs Digest said there were no helmets and no pads. So, a glorified walkthrough was what really went down today for the Kansas City Chiefs. But still, everybody on there, even though there’s some new guys, were full participants. There were some new additions. Jeffrey Bosa with the knee, Nick Bolton with the calf, Hollywood Brown, I think that’s new with the ankle, or that’s the same foot and ankle he’s been dealing with. Then you have Kareem Hunt with the calf. That’s new. Mahomes is still on there with the groin. Omar Norman Lot was a full go with the shoulder. That’s great. And then again, Christian Fulton, he hasn’t played really since week one, I believe. He played a couple snaps and has been out with the ankle. So, if these guys can continue up, that’s only going to be a great thing for the Chiefs in this roster. Everybody else, Juju Smith, Schustster, knee, Jawan Taylor, knee, Xavier Worthy, shoulder and ankle. There’s quite a bit of players on there, some key ones, but they were all full. Let’s see how they look on Thursday and Friday and see if anybody stays full or is downgraded to limited because that’s going to be kind of the key thing to watch for. That’s the same with the Lions. Do some of these guys who did not participate in today’s practice go up from that to limited or full or some of these guys may be given a bit of a rest day. We’ll see here as time goes on, but some very key injuries to watch for, especially on the Detroit Lions side of things. Let me know how you’re feeling about this game in the comments down below. And we’ll be back with a video tomorrow with Seth Kaiser. And then Friday we’ll do the full preview. So until next time, let’s go. Let’s freaking go. How about those

I honestly think if the chiefs cleaned up the penalties, they blow out Jacksonville
Take away a 14 point swing in the eagles game, we are 3-2, take away a 14 point swing in the jags game we are 4-1, have Xavier worthy vs the chargers, we may be 5-0. I’m not worried about making the playoffs, the division is easily fetchable. The division winner may only win 11 games. Go 9-3 over the rest of the year and we will have a home playoff game.
If we don’t win I’m crashing cuz my birthday is on Sunday this
Any Chiefs fan who thinks KC should be favored or will win this game is looking through rose-colored bias glasses. The defense is completely suspect, Butker has proven unreliable, and Chris Jones has mailed it in. 35-24 Lions.
It’s been a rough start. This game against Detroit may determine if we are a wild card team or Conference contenders
Read my lips and I’m a Chiefs fan. CHRIS JONES IS WASHED.
The chiefs will not win this game just face it they are freaking done 😂😂😂😂
I think the chiefs go 3-3 come Sunday night
Why you talking ISH about karlaftis to a lions channel? Quit simpin
There will be opportunities for picks please replace Connor with nohl because our front 4 will barely scratch golf and that o line
Jay's win and move on, Flames embarass the Oilers in their own barn, all I need is a Chiefs W for the perfect trifecta here haha
Chiefs haven't been fully healthy since OTA's, but they're getting healthier, week by week. The only setback they've suffered, other than the belated suspension of Rashee Rice, was Worthy's shoulder in Week 1. He's been back for a couple of weeks, now, and is playing good ball.
It's exciting watching this team progress, week to week. I think the new additions to the D-Line are already assets on the field.
I'd like to see the defense scheme more plays up for Chris Jones. To make big plays, he has to commit to doing something relatively unsound. By "scheme more plays" I mean not just leaving it up to Jones to throw the dice every once in a while, but let Jones over-commit and send one more hat to mop up whatever he flushes out.
Meh. I'm sure they've already thought of that. I just see the occasional breakdown like Derrick Johnson used to have, because he was trying too hard to make something happen. It generates splash plays for inferior fronts, but it's not winning football, unless you let those Bigs just pin their ears back and if they guess wrong, you've got a flier screaming in from where the vulnerability will be.
I'm not shy about sending an extra hat after the QB. If you need to mix it up to get consistent pressure, the consistently quick pressures help the secondary more than keeping an extra guy back. The gold standard is to just dominate with your front 4, like Denver's doing, now. That's some nasty, championship-level defense. If the Chiefs get by the Broncos this year, they will have earned it.
Im a lions Syndicate sub. I loved this colab. Super refreshing. As for the game. Is any given sunday.. but we should take care of business here.. i hope lol.
This team is 100% fine. They'll make the playoffs and that will be the beginning of the end for the pretenders.
Yh my confidence for the Lions game after the Jags is below 20%
Chiefs are 0-fer the rest of season. Hoplessly lost.
I like this format where you have the quest as someone who is a fan of the other team. I like another opposing opinion. Doesn’t do any good to blow smoke up your ass.

I honestly don’t know what the solution is. I’m sure it’s not exactly what we’re doing. I don’t see the hate for our running back room. Rbs are not getting enough carries to show anything. I don’t think we have a top running back room. Stats say we are better than average. Play calling is just as bad as last two years. Difference now is the w’s are higher than the l’s. Acting like that isn’t happening (coaches/ play callers) doesn’t help, it only prolongs the problem. Mahomes is playing like a superstar, with everyone saying “you’re a superstar “ and no constructive criticism. He knows It’s not the best, help him fix it.
Run the damn ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or just make everyone a pass catcher. Right now we are stuck between hell and and a deeper hotter hell. Every part of the game is stagnant and predictable. If I know what play we are running before we run it?????????? What are we doing I’m not even a top 100 couch coach. Play football, stop with all the cutesy plays and ram it down there throats. We have the talent. Most complete Chiefs team in the Mahomes era. Playing like they’re neutered.
i swear on my mothers life if these refs screw up this chiefs game im turning to baseball
Did he actually say Patrick Mahomes, has lost a step? lol
I believe the Chiefs win 31-24
I love the 1 stat we beat them in is 3rd dwn by 1%😅. Ngl only teams that scare me are Lions, Bills n Colts(but only this year lol). Even the Eagles n Ravens, who are just as scary, just really only piss me off lol🤷♀️
funny how the auto-generated subtitles interpret the intro as "how about those zoos!"?
Dang why didn’t we draft Scattebo. The dude is a beast. Better than all of our RBs put together.👍
