NHL Highlights | Rangers vs. Sabres – October 9, 2025

in this one. Well, Krebs getting a chance of course to play on the top line with Norris and Taage Thompson. Savers from left to right and it’s Miller, Sabana, Jen, and Culie. And if you think the Rangers are coming out here with a bit of thunder after their loss on the opening night, you can face off to the left of Alex Lion. Rangers win that first offensive zone draw. First shot and a close save made by Alex Lion just to warm it up. Rangers trying to draw it. Fast play goes to the corner. Put after it out there along with Mloud paddling in the corner along with a captain will start New York on their way through the middle of the ice. Connor Sherry, former saber out there wearing number 43. Fly to the Rangers goal. New York looking up the middle for Panera and it’s just off of his stick as he made the turn. Ryan Johnson was there though. Pass cross ice lion. That’s the shot and the rebound is blocked. Not for long though as Buffalo inside their own zone. Still looking for the first shot here. Maybe it’s Alex Tuck. It is with the shot and the pass. Save made by Shurken. Alex Tuck near corner testing Sister Sturken along the goal line. I beg you pardon. And that puck bounces that he thought really needed to be worked on right in front with a bumper shot stopped by Lion and the rebound of the near corner of the backhanded clear will get outside the zone. This penalty kill brought to you by Gates the official auto collision repair center. Rangers right side Paneran play it back to the blue line. Fox carries to the middle. Panaran gives it back to him. on timer. Blocker save made and the rebound battled for and picked up by Mloud. So the Rangers get the next unit out there led by Lafrenir. out there with him as well. Here’s a puck right in front of the net and takes a deflection to line at the far post. Lafernier had two power play goals last year for the Rangers as Panaran on the near boards up top. Snider to the far circle looking for Paneran coming in at the back post and Tes Thompson had that one covered sends it ahead and Rey goes for a fall as he tries to get the middle of the ice in the Buffalo zone. All right, appreciated it. Lindy talked to us about making sure you clear the puck right there. It’s not what the doctor ordered. And now the Rangers set up with Paneran on the ice. High slot with it. Holds it. sends it to the net. Bouncy puck far post. They score. Lime got a piece of it, but a reach around with the stick and it’s the Rangers who strike first and again a failed clear by the Savers. Winds up in the back of the net. We talked to Lindy about this just lobbing pucks to the front of the net and how important it was for the D to make sure they got things cleared out. You see both guys get tied up right there. Frenier just able to get this puck between Lion and the post as he pulls it from below the goal line. Kind of uses his skates a little bit to move the pads of Lion. Give him a little push right there. Carries it in this time. Dene’s got a lane. Fires it right on. And the rebound Sturken the captain has it. Dene tried to go up top to Byron but a very good stick by Rey. Deflects it out of the zone. Rasmus Dene with a chance. Still the Sabres not on the board. Trail one- nothing. Norris left wall. Payton Krabs behind the net. Bounced over his stick. Dolli has possession coming off the wall. Still with it. Fires a shot. Sh. Sturken blocker save. Thompson. Ask for what? So you can get everywhere you need to get in the National Hockey League buildings this year. I just go. Starting tomorrow. All right, second period underway. Buffalo get it back. Hooker at center. tries to find the puck following up. Byum with a hit and now Johnson can’t turn it up. Ice save made. Zooker up top. Different positions for these guys now as they now start to rotate in their usual spots. Stling up ice. Got a lane. Slaps it off the side of the post. That puck still in play. Comes right back to T. Turn it over. Norris wins it back at the Rangers line. Zucker left side. Snaps it around. Byron Mloud Thompson one-time Sturken there in plenty of time. And then he was off the stick of Bradish. Back to full strength to the Rangers, but not yet in their own zone. Right in front. And Shurken pounces on a bouncing puck and holds on of just getting the puck to the net. Simplifying a little bit. There’s Don puts one off the post on the redirect. But another good job of coming up with pucks after battles after shots are taken. They’re coming up. Miller drops it. Radish with a lane to fire this one. And he does. Comes all the way out to Norris right side. Norris with a personal grave. Gets the shot away. Stopped by Shust Sturken. The puck instead of just coming right to a player. So give him a little credit for that. Sabres work their way in with a shot. There it is. The rebound in front and it bounces to Shurken who sprawls and finds it. Here’s Norris going to move this puck to the outside. There’s the quick shot. Everybody converging to the net. Shurken battling trying to pull that one in. And then you see the two 17s on the side going at each other. And Cage Thompson tried getting back to the net. He was knocked to the ice as well right here by Susi. And then Norris is jumping on the back. So as of right now, no Saber. [Music] [Applause] The Sabres have to find a way here to get to Shurken who he certainly hasn’t been super clean, Rob, but he’s seeing everything and making the initial stops. Yeah, but all those numbers in the past, Dan, this new team, new coach, and now the Rangers will get a chance to flip it up and up. Buffalo crowds the ice, keeping it in. Here’s a chance. Done with a shot and Norris couldn’t free up his stick. Adam Fox down on the corner to his backhand. They lift that one out and a roller to the Buffalo line. This is anyone’s puck here. The way this thing’s bouncing around. It goes through the blue paint from the far wall. Sabres skating from left to right here in the third. Timmons pinching in. Work down for Dan for a quick shot stop by Shurken at the near post. Touching it up the wall. Not out of the zone. Now Koulik on the other side. Back to Dollene at the point. Here’s Quinn tried to backhand her and Shurken was ready for that one and he’ll hold on for a face off in the Rangers to the front of the net. There’s a shot off the back wall and probably not looking at that one to try to score. He’s trying to get it back to that blue paint because he knows he got guys coming through there. So, just throw it to that blue and hopefully something happens out of it. Sent down the ice. Rasmus Dalene against Panera. An allstar battle down in the corner in the Buffalo in Miller to the line kept in. Susi walks in and scores. Viking Alberta native had a lot of room on this left side and beats Lion to make it two nothing with 514 to go in the third period. Again, the defenseman see everybody on the wall. The good battle just kept to the outside. But when that puck popped free, that was a good pass from the left wall here. The quick play by the defenseman right there to get it across to Susi. That’s that’s what made it because the Savers had pressure on them and they were in a good spot, but just a great play when that pass is made across. Take it away by Lafrenier. Here now is Bing Menstein. Lafrenir comes up with it back to Schneider with a shot and that one gets by Lion. It’s 3 nothing with 249 to go in the third. Yeah, I think this is tipped in the middle of the ice and the shot from the point. KT Miller is going to be the guy gets a piece of this because it’s [Applause] going to come up with this puck and able to move it to the D. And there’s the quick shot. And right there at the hash marks, JT Miller standing Samson and he just reaches out. Boom. Maybe a little higher than a foot and a half, two feet off the ice and he’s able to just redirect that one. Yeah, he drives everybody else and he doesn’t allow anybody else on the ice to not do their thing and he pushes players. He plays that same way himself. So he doesn’t just preach it, he does it. Empty net from right deep in the Rangers corner and it is a 4 nothing score as Fox was able to lift that one out right off the face off. It looks like it goes off the referee’s skate, comes to him clean. He’s about two feet above the goal line and just maybe you get some guys back who were unable to go tonight. I’ll see who’s able to maybe work their way back in the lineup. Here’s Schneider for the point. Lion fights that one off with the save. The Rangers lost three nothing in their opener to the Penguins. Up four nothing here with 142 to go. Backinan sends it across. [Applause] Battle in behind the Savers. Backan walks in. Pad save made by Lion. Just Sturken looks off to his right and he is going to find himself in a position here to pick up yet another shut out in his career. Four nothing is the final score. [Music]

J.T. Miller had a goal and an assist and Igor Shesterkin stopped all 37 shots he faced as the New York Rangers blanked the Buffalo Sabres 4-0.

  1. "After visiting these places, you can easily understand how that within a few years Hitler will emerge from the hatred that surrounds him now as one of the most significant figures who ever lived. He had boundless ambition for his country which rendered him a menace to the peace of the world, but he had a mystery about him in the way that he lived and in the manner of his death that will live and grow after him. He had in him the stuff of which legends are made."

  2. Hey, has anyone seen my bacon? I left it on the table over here a few minutes ago and now it's, like, GONE! I think someone stole it. If you've seen my bacon, please report it to me as soon as possible. Thanks.

  3. The season is over already. We haven't even hit November. Absolute pile of shi_. I am finally done. Has been Lindy, Marty Wilford should have been fired the day after he was hired. Adams needs to go. Enough is enough. People need to stop buying tickets…this is unbelievable! Always an excuse. This was a must win and they didn't even score a goal. Sell the team!!!!!

  4. Lyon looked sharp tho ngl first goal was bs second goal was beat clean 3rd goal was tipped so In my opinion I think Lyon did a great job our offense just didn’t show up

  5. Sabres injuries: UPL (starting goalie), Lord Kesselring, Power, Benson, Greenway, now Norris… So their starting goalie and 1/3 of the D-core the entire 2nd line. No excuses but the Sabres are starting a backup goalie and were in this game until the 3rd period 👍 🏒
