AJ Preller STRIKES AGAIN…BIG signing | Padres News

AJ Pller strikes again as the Padres’s have made their first move of the off season, signing a pitcher. Who is it? Are they good? Let’s talk about it. Hi, welcome back to another episode of Padres’s Digest with your host Andrew. Today we have some breaking news. Padres’s have signed a pitcher. Who is it? I’ll get there. Anyways, before anything, please subscribe as always. And I haven’t done this in a while, so let’s do it now. If you guys love sports, love talking about sports, love writing sports, any kind of sport, and you guys want to have a job doing it, why not join join the Digest Media channel, we have literally everything, every kind of sport. I mean, if you like San Diego sports, maybe you want to talk about uh San Diego FC because they’re very good right now. Maybe the Clippers will come back to San Diego. I don’t know why they would, but maybe they will. You can write about it. But yeah, uh join the link in the description, apply, feel free. We’re cool people. Anyways, uh and of course, yeah, please subscribe. Uh you know, you you know the routine. Enough stalling. Of course, let’s talk about this guy. The name I will mispronounce, and I am so sorry in advance, but we have agreed to terms with Taiwanese right-handed pitcher, L Hung Shu. He is from the Chinese Taipai 18 under national team. Uh so, you probably never heard of him. I’ve never heard of him. And to be honest, there’s not a lot of information out there about him, but there are some interesting things that I found. So, for starters, uh, we signed him for $77 sorry, yes, $775,000. So, while it’s not nothing, it’s not like a lot a lot. Uh, the 6’2 hurler shoved showed a four pitch mix at the 18 under Baseball World Cup. Fast ball averaged about 92.1 miles per hour. Curveball at 78.5 miles per hour. Slider at 80.4 miles per hour. Change up at 83.5. And he struck out 14 across five appearances in that tournament. Yes. 14 across five appearances. That’s pretty good. That’s pretty good. And he’s still relatively young. He is 18 years old. Uh you’ve already saw that stuff uh shown in the World Cup. We saw that 94 m perph fast ball. That one said 92. This one says 94. Uh, and he had great command. 1.91 erra among across 7.1 inning pitched 14 strikeouts. So that’s two strikeouts an inning mathematics. So not too shabby at all. One really cool thing though, uh, they signed him blah blah blah. You’ve already read that part, but he visited Petco Park earlier this week for a tour of the facilities and met Ud Darvish, who Sue admires and is the reason he wears number 11. And who doesn’t admire you Darvish? So, I know your first reaction is going to be, Andrew, who cares? Get Bogarts off the team. Get Machado off the team. Get Tatis off this team. It doesn’t matter. The the organization’s falling apart. Being a Padres’s fan sucks. But after that reaction, I hope you guys have some sane, rational thoughts. I’m gonna make a video addressing these comments at some point cuz I swear to God, I haven’t seen a positive comment in like two weeks. We’re going to talk about We’re going to have a chat, y’all. A chat. We’re going to sit down. We’re going to have a therapy session. We’re going to talk about this. But besides that, uh the second thought is could be interesting. So, I do have a little article real quick. Uh, nothing much really learning new about it, but the right-hander is fresh off of a strong showing of the U8 baseball. This is from Sports Illustrated by Aaron Col, by the way, where he made five relief appearances for Chinese Tapi. Tap tape, I can read. Sue pitched 7.1 innings, struck out 14 batters, allowing just two runs for an erra of 1.91. Chinese Tai made it to the bronze medal game with Sue’s help, but and beat South Korea to claim third place in the tournament. Sue pitched 1.1 innings in the bronze medal game. not allowing a base runner and getting through his outing in just nine pitches. He received a win for the outing. What does that tell us? A, he has experience playing big games. B, he can pitch well in those big games. And C, he’s pretty good. He’s young. He’s got talent. And to be honest, what we need right now, because we kind of sold the farm for like literally everybody are young players with talent. Now, I know everyone there’s that what was his name? The one Korean player who uh everyone wants right now. I know that’s kind of more the big target. And to be honest, the international pool uh I think it’s ending soon. If not, let me double check because I don’t want to get yelled at. Okay, never mind. I thought I saw something about it ending soon, but no, it ends December 15th. I don’t know why I thought that, but yeah. I mean, I’m looking at Twitter right now trying to find more information on him, but it’s a lot of the same stuff, but there’s a lot of excitement going on. Like, uh, apparently the Brewers tried to offer him money, but they didn’t get him. Sucks to suck. Uh, but yeah, I mean, I think it’s exciting. Like it says when like says, as this one says right here, time for Ruben Neba to work his magic. Now, I don’t think he’s going to get to Ruben Ya yet. I mean, maybe. I don’t know how much Ruben Yebler really does like for the entire organization. I know he does it obviously for the major uh prospects probably, but yeah. I mean, I don’t know. It’s exciting. He probably won’t be ready for like years. Like, do not expect him to be here anytime soon. Uh he’s 18, so maybe when he’s 21. I don’t know. Maybe he could help us now. Maybe he could help us in the future. Uh please apply as always. Please apply. But like yeah, I don’t know. It’s someone I think is interesting. Someone that we can develop into something better. I don’t know if he’s ever gonna he’s not I don’t think he’s like the I don’t know like a Paul Skins type talent. I don’t think he’s going to be like a Mason Miller type candidate. If he’s throwing say 94 now in a couple years maybe he’ll throw like 96 97. But like it’s not so much that the mild per miles per hourish per hourish is that a word? How fast he throws doesn’t matter as much as how filthy his stuff is. And if you’re getting that many strikeouts in that span of like two strikeouts an inning in 14 innings like or sorry uh in seven innings like you’re obviously doing something right. And of course it’s just the under 18 World Cup. So I don’t know. I personally am excited. I personally think this is a good move. And I mean it doesn’t hurt that much, right? I mean we still got international pool money. Like we’re still able to go out there and sign people. So yeah, that’s pretty much it. So, what did you guys think? Right. I know, like I said, I know right now we’re kind of dooming. I know you probably don’t I know this probably isn’t the kind of move to really excite you or bring back your hope. Like, well, that’s cool, Andrew, but like, why aren’t we signing Kyle Schwarber? This season’s still on, Gall. We’re not there yet. But just take a chill pill, relax, relax, take a little breath, right? Things will get better with time. This team will get better with time. I truly believe that. No. Let me know what you guys think. Are you excited for this player? Do you think it’s just a whatever? Like you remember when we signed uh what was his name? Wuk go. Like I thought he was gonna be a huge pitcher and then he kind of sucked and we got rid of him immediately. Uh do you think that’s going to be like this kind of uh pitcher or do you think he’s genuinely a serious prospect? Do you think he’ll make the team or do you think AJ Per will probably sell him for some aging veteran? I don’t know. You guys let me know. Uh but yeah, that’s pretty much all I got for you guys. a lot of Padres’s updates going on uh recently. So, I think me and Chris are going to have a lot of work coming up for you guys. So, stick around for that. But, thank you guys so much for watching. Have a fantastic rest of your day. And it always feels weird saying this now that the season’s over, but I’ll say it anyways. Go Padres’s. Goodbye. Thanks. Goodbye. I got us all two seconds. Okay, now we’re good.

Today, Andrew McFarland talks about a new, possibly exciting, signing from the international pool that could have a big presence as a top prospect in the future…
