    Liked the Ed ASP pair a lot

    Hamonic better never play unless injury again

    The score is really influencing people’s view on the game IMO. Idk I thought we played ok, a lot to clean up, but overall I liked a lot of what I saw. Which isn’t to put it all on Gibby, obviously you’d like a better game but there were some bad bounces overall too. Plus I don’t see Dobes getting much credit for a really good game

    People booing in game 1 are losers

  2. I’m glad we have the Toddfather. I’m glad he actually showed he was irritated with the team. This is a good moment for Larkin to lead the team to a win streak after embarrassing loss. And is God is merciful he will let this team have a good win streak to shut the YzerHaters up for a bit.

    But damn dude why on earth did you sign Harmonica Boy when we all knew he can’t play the harmonica to save his life.

    The uniform kit was completely unreal, and those matte helmets are an 11/10. Best setup in the league.

  7. Game yesterday can be attributed to like 3-4 players max. Once they made enough mistakes and it was 3-1 momentum was lost and we didn’t get any puck luck (thought debrincat could’ve had 2 atleast). Would like to see these lines Saturday and today in practice

  8. We certainly could’ve played much better. I think we played better than the score indicates, but I don’t think we played as well as the shots indicate either. I can’t blame Gibson fully, he was completely left out to dry on goals 1 & 2 but that will always happen, he has to be able to battle back from a bad start. Hamonic needs to go, every game he plays, it will be harder on the other 5 D, especially on his partner trying to cover for him.

    ASP looks better than advertised. First time I watched this kid play he was 17 at the WJC, and his skating, puck control and vision stood out so much to me, that I fully believe he would be one of the best defenseman in the NHL. His iq really stood out to me yesterday, he seems to be very alert, constantly scanning the ice to know where everyone is. He moves his hips well to open himself up to the puck/puck carrier, which tells me he is quickly processing what he is seeing.

    Obviously it is only one game, so you can’t draw too many conclusions from it. But he looked very promising to me. 22:34 time on ice in your first game shows the level of trust and confidence they have in him as well.

  9. I wasn’t a Johansson believer and last night didn’t help. He just reminds me of a worse version of Lindstrom (plus a random highlight goal every 30 games) and that is really saying something. Hopefully he can figure it out and live up to the hype that was created around here for him.

  11. Oof the takes last night from some folks were rough. I know a lot of fans return to the subreddit with the season back in swing, but man, the casual takes are strong already.

  13. I have TMJ inflammation and will need one root canal. The pain I felt watching Hamonic – AlJo last night is comparable to what my jaw is doing. Not the best past 24 hours.

  14. Disappointed in our fans at the game taunting our own team in game 1. I mean, it was a bad showing. But that’s probably when they need the support of knowing the fanbase is behind them, not against them.

  19. Well hey, good news: if we can find a way to stop the other team from getting odd-man rushes, then we should be golden.

    While I wouldn’t classify last night as a moral victory, there was a decent number of things to like about that game, and Larkin is right when he says that all of the problems they faced are fixable by them. Let’s just hope they fix them quick!

    I didn’t watch much after the 1-1 point, but in the highlights I noticed mostly Hamonic, Ras, and Johansson (on that rebound goal) getting beat. Pelly played 3rd most time ice on the D core him and Edvinsson were the only non-minus D men.

  22. Todd was clearly pissed how the team played. Talked about preparing the team for the season and how it went all out the window on the ice. There’s actual accountability. Newsy would have given some half assed answer about systems.

    Give it a week or two before sounding the alarm on the season.

  24. When Yzerman was in Tampa, he made moves. Can that happen now? I guess, but the league has changed and basically the only players you get these days seem to be the ones that want out of their team (i.e. M.Tkachuk. A.DeBrincat).

    However, the 30+ year old tires are not something in need for today’s NHL… on D. On the forward, you do it cautiously or methodically. Kane and JVR are cool.

    Look at DeBrincat. Yes, he is a smaller forward. However, he does not play like it. He forechecks, runs his motor high, goes in the corners, etc. Soderblom needs to play more to his size and I believe we will see it more and more going forward. Ras? I would seriously move on from the guy. Berggren and JVR will make more of a consistent showing than him. Bench him for now and send the message. Whether now or down the stretch, I would sit him out for 3-4 games and let him begin to wake up.

    I followed Raymond in the SHL before he was drafted in 2020 and wanted him as our pick. However, he needs to be stronger on the forecheck more consistently. Has he shown it at times? Yes, but it is needed more.

    I am not sure what to say about Copp and Compher. Are both needed? I slot Danielson at Center on that third line when he is injury-free and ready. Thus, Copp-Danielson-MBN.

    Any Finnie complaints are unreasonable. He will be fine and do well.

  25. Over the off season we developed group on here and you all seem cool. Probably are in real life too. In the GDT yesterday….so much histrionics.

  27. Got stuck at a happy hour last night and couldn’t watch the game. Someone give me the TLDR on what went wrong.

  28. I was surprised when I stopped and looked at the schedule for our first six games: all six were playoff teams including the two Stanley Cup finalists. The schedule makers really gave us a tough start.
