All right, Dex, before we get to the the exciting feedback, yeah, the most important question is this. A Sunny update. How’s Sunny doing? Sunny’s good. He’s good. Um, you know, one of the crazy things that I that I read and heard about is like be prepared for newborns to just make all sorts of sounds when they’re sleeping. Like when they’re sleeping, they they will they will make these squawks and grunts and all sorts of sounds. Okay, it people were underelling that. This guy is like a little troll dinosaur when he sleeps. I mean, and and and you know, I have the monitor next to me and you know, during my shift from like like 10:00 to 3:00 a.m. My wife goes to bed at 10:00 and I stay up till like 3:00 if he has to wake up for feedings or or diaper changes. Mhm. He makes these sounds that are just the craziest sounds. Um, but for the most part, he’s been sleeping pretty well. Um, which is good obviously for our sanity. So, he’s good. We’re hanging out. We might go to our first um outdoor football game tomorrow. We might go watch uh uh his uncle Joey who plays for St. Olaf. We might go down there and watch a football game. Oh, that’s a that’s a road trip. It is a road trip. We we you know, we’ve done one patio so far. We did Burger Moses in St. Paul last week. And and we’ve done, you know, he did great. He slept the whole thing. Nice. And we’ve done, you know, walkies throughout the block and neighborhood. But um but we might might make a big field trip uh tomorrow. We’ll play it by year though. You know, daytoday just like the injury report. Does this depend on his mood? Yeah, it depends on I would say mood and weather. Like tomorrow’s supposed to be nice, but of course. Yeah. Well, weather’s you guys, though, too. Yeah. Well, yeah. He’s three weeks old, so it’s like, you know, if if it’s windy and cold, then we don’t then we uh we won’t do that. But yeah, he’s good. He’s upstairs. He’s having a bottle. He’s hanging out. Um living the dream, man. As we all do. Yeah. Seriously. Upstairs with a beer. A beer for me. A bottle for him. There’s no difference. It’s a Friday. It’s a Friday. Yeah. So, feedback Friday here. Uh I compiled some feedback. Uh yesterday uh Kaden says or or Kade says Mackey does not work Fridays. Huh. Yeah, I’ve taken Tuesdays off. I’ve seen those comments. Yes, I have officially taken Tuesdays off. But you know what? It’s a experimental Tuesdays off. I will be back on Tuesdays in like a month. So I’ll be back. Okay. This is just a finding myself like on a Dave. Yeah, I had a kid. That’s Yeah. I like like you’re not all of a sudden just arbitrarily like I don’t work on Tuesdays. Can you imagine though if uh you know like like what if an NFL quarterback just decided right then and there for his family and his relationships to work that he just needs to take off Tuesdays and what if what if I come back in 2026 and say you know what guys I’ve I’ve done some reflection and my wife and my son really need this time with me on I have been harping actually unbeknownsted to you on on the Thursday practices that you missed like I just continually talk about Dean missed that Thursday those are those are key walkthrough Right. I mean, no, no, that was a third down installation. I just keep bringing that up. I’m like, you know, Declan did miss that Thursday, but I mean, we we all love Dean. No, it’s no problem. Anyway, all right. So, feedback here. We will have a snake draft of the week. AJ Frederickson, uh, Andy Pettit will come in from the bullpen to join us for a snake draft this week, which will be fun. Um, so let’s start here. And Jud, you’re back in your studio. Good to know. Good to know you’re back in the road construction is down the street now. That’s great. Okay, they finally got done with the like the house was literally shaking for 2 days. That’s what you said and I thought you were kind of exaggerating, but I now I kind of believe you. No, it was shaking because they they dug up the gas lines, which by the way scared me, too. Oh, yeah. That’s always a there’s just too much when you’re And look, I mean, these are I’m sure they’re great people, okay? But they don’t like things can go wrong and it’s not I don’t know. Oh, I was very uneasy about the gas lines being, you know, it’s one thing to do like power stuff, right? Yeah, for sure. Cuz you might get electrocuted, but that won’t affect me too much. But if you blow my house up, I’m going to be really pissed off. This is not a I don’t know what the actual sponsors, but call before you dig, people. Call before you dig. Don’t uh don’t don’t blow yourself up. So, the first two pieces of feedback here uh involve listeners having criticisms of our show and our perception of Kevin O’Connell. Okay, let’s start with this one uh from African 12 who says, “Okay, you guys can’t keep saying we need to be patient with JJ and immediately meatride how KOC is a QB guru. Y’all are doing nothing but make people impatient. It’s what, year four of KOC and he has zero playoff wins. It’s time for y’all to start holding him more accountable instead of glazing him constantly. We hired anti Mike Zimmer and yet we’re still relying on the defense to win games. Stop with the injury excuses. It’s the NFL. Everyone has them. I’m also annoyed how you guys just glossed over the fact that this dude was literally pissed he had to change his game plan from dumbass long developing pass plays in order to win the game and was a beyond ridiculous reaction from him. We did also, by the way, touch on that. Uh, just FYI, I brought it up. Yeah. And that this team would have been so much better off with Jim Harbaugh. Uh, I don’t care how much of a quarterback guru he is. If he’s not winning playoff games, that is completely irrelevant. And I have another one here that I’ll read in just a bit. But, but your your first thoughts on that, Judley. Well, first of all, I I think if if you know, and I’m getting older, I know, but on Sunday, I think Phil and I got into a big uh to-do about this, about the fact that I said that the mistakes weren’t like like in the injury thing takes you so far. And then at some point in time, you just have to not play dumb football. Um, I mean that’s an interesting So, I brought up the fact that I thought he was frustrated by the fact that they couldn’t play his his style of football. I didn’t praise him. I actually said that the I praised him for doing it because the game plan worked like what they did against Miles Garrett was great. I think KO hated it, but it still worked. But, um, I you know what I I think is going to happen here, too? I think that the McCarthy thing until it plays out a little bit is just going to continue to be um be a point of contention with people because you do have a certain amount of people that think that he’s just a bust. It’s two games in but they just think he’s a bust. I am I don’t want to be I don’t need to be I don’t think any of us need to be on the wrong side of history by declaring him a bust two games in. Like I need to see more. And so I think people want us just to say, “Hey, look, quarterback guru my ass. He drafted a quarterback and that and that quarterback’s a complete bust and he sucks and so KO sucks and so they should all be fired.” And look, if that’s the case, it’s a conversation for sure. But we have to give it more time. And at the end of the day, too, how many of us have been begging the Vikings to draft a quarterback and develop him? Like that’s the whole thing. We rip the Vikings for not doing that. So, I just think there’s going to be a natural divide here among some of the PD faithful family who we appreciate greatly and others including me on the observation and how how we should contextualize what is transpiring. But I think Phil is much more on the injury train than I am. I like like at some like you cannot be jumping off sides consistently and just say injuries injuries injuries. You have to play smart football. And the other thing is you cannot fumble. You can’t fumble. And I said that on Sunday. So, uh, and by the way, I think I think it was Listener Ted. I I had beers with Listener Ted at the local grocery store up the road on Tuesday afternoon. Huge Purple Daily fan. He literally he pul he’s like Dex from Purple Daily. We talked Purple Daily, Flagrren How’s life, fatherhood for like 45 minutes at the at a happy hour bar. It was great. It’s the most stimulation I’ve had with someone not named my wife or son in in weeks. So, I I I took advantage of it. Okay. Uh but he talked about, man, Mackey and Jud, they kind of they got into it on on Sunday during that event line, you know, and and also sometimes we get this too, like when that happens, like are you guys actually mad at each other? No. Well, first off, no. Mostly no. I will say like 99% of the chance I I think it’s it’s mostly a no. And to be honest, when those type of debates happen on our show organically like that, we come away when we’re done recording saying, “Man, that’s the type of stuff we actually love the most.” Cuz in general, 75% of the time, I would say, maybe even more. We all agree with each other. Me, you, Phil, we all usually are in line philosophy wise. Maybe there’s some like tweaks and things we like to see done differently, but in general, our outlook, our overview, the broader picture of things in Minnesota sports and as it relates to the Vikings, uh it all kind of align. So, when we get a dissension like that, it’s actually fun because we usually don’t have to we don’t get to agree like that all the time. Um I tend to fall in the fact and I I know people ripped me for my word fortunate of being three and two. Um the the fact that this team is three and two, it’s a miracle they’re three and two given the injuries and given the circumstances of their team where um I agree with you that yes, like some of your backup guys that you’re playing right now have to be more disciplined and it’s the coaches coaching them, the Lunanny line of play, uh you know, managers d manage and coaches coach, etc. Uh those guys have to be more disciplined. I think it falls more on Quy missing on draft picks and you’re playing, you know, scrubs that have no business. That was a good point. Yeah. Being being on the starting lineup. Um, now, you know, you have to have guys round out a 53man roster, but it’s it’s a miracle that they’re three and two on McCarthy being a bust. Yeah, I’m just I am not there. I tweeted this out yesterday during the game. Mixtape Magic says, “Dart, as in Jackson Dart, greater than JJ McCarthy.” Now, Jackson Dart does look pretty dang solid. He’s got a lot of moxy, a lot of swagger. Uh Cam Scataboo and Ryan Fitzgerald are taking their shirts off postgame. Uh I tweeted this out, you know, tongue and cheek, by the way. Tongue and cheek. Forget B Nicks, Sam Darnold, or Daniel Jones. Did the Vikings make a bigger mistake not drafting Jackson Dart in this year’s draft. I was mostly kidding on that. But uh I I just want to see what this team looks like with McCarthy over the long haul. I want him to start after the by-week. I want a long leash and availability. Hey, it it’s it’s maybe the most important thing. Forget about all the other traits we talked about with McCarthy. He has not been able to stay on the field and he has to figure out a way to stay healthy, but after the buy, God willing, he’s healthy. Even with the tough slate, tough sledding they have the first four or five games, I want to see what this team looks like with JJ McCarthy and the record be damned. If he gets hurt again, you have a that’s the conversation completely. Then it’s not it’s not I don’t think he’s that good a player. it’s he can’t stay healthy. It if the third strike would be very interesting because at some point in time it’s just going to become a ridiculous pattern. So that that actually concerns me way more than his play because I think if you can straighten them out at least you can find out. You will find out nothing. If you go back and look at the 2024 first round QBs taken. Okay. I believe the next closest to McCarthy’s two regular season starts is Michael Penn with like nine games and eight starts. Mhm. Everybody else double digits. Yeah. So, yeah, that’s a and to me that’s the that’s that’s my greatest concern now is because he has to run like you can’t just make him a pocket passer. So, can you stay on the field? And yes, snapback hat says, “Bro, it’s an ankle sprain.” It happens. It does happen, but it’s on the, you know, it’s after the knee now. and it happens. But the problem is there are guys, and we’ve all covered this, there are guys that are more predisposed to being hurt. And if you’re one of those guys, it gets to be a problem. So that’s what I and and again there’s a McCarthy defender. So you’re never going to win this. It’s either going to be he sucks, he’s a bust, or back off. But um yeah, I I the injury thing is interesting and it definitely has impacted them and the offensive line in a major major way. But you still can win games and you still can play smarter football. I will say in the second half, if I’m not mistaken, against the Browns, I think they only took a penalty. So, that was a major improvement. That was a step up by the boys. All right, this next one from from Adam has to take a sw Thank you for uh thank you for picking that. Um, so this one from Adam. No clue if this is the venue to contact the show, but I’m going to try for PD. Hey, got through. longtime listener back to the Dave Herrian days. First time actual commenter. Shout out Dave. Shout out to Dave Herrian. He used to produce Mackie and JJ uh in the 1500 ESPN days now with uh CCO and and uh Chad Hartman. Um he says it feels like the show has had a very drastic change in the last year or so from what it originally was. To me, the biggest selling point of the show going back to Mackey and Jud was that the team was significantly different than the KF fan angle of abusive praise. The last year has been a level of praise platforming weekly of a guy who is objectively biased has changed this. He’s talking about Kevin O’K too about being biased. Okay, here are the facts. Under KOC, this team is top five in sacks yards lost going back to 2022. That means regardless of the seven quarterbacks and probably 20 plus offensive lineman’s, the results are the same. This team has never been higher than top five in EPA, which is expected points added since KOC has arrived. They have never had a top five yardage team. They have never been higher than eighth in points per game. But we’re supposed to believe that KOC is a godsend and that he is the end all be all. Please get back to the objectivity. It’s becoming embarrassing and soon will cause myself and I’m sure many more to stop listening. P.S. This will never be read on air because you are all such cowards. There you go, Adam. We read it on air. There it is. Oh, and look at K. Uh, so KS and 957, this listener has nailed it. The Vikings and Wolves talk is right up there with KFAN. Almost no criticism and coaches get a pass even when they make clear mistakes. Interesting. I I don’t like I mean I like O’Connell as a coach for what he’s brought, but he hasn’t won a playoff game yet. And um boy, I feel like I have been a little bit harsher than than that, but perhaps I haven’t. Perhaps I’ve been now on the Wolves. That’s more Phil’s passion. Um, and I I did meltdown about I did meltdown about the Wolves a year ago when they lost and got in a big fight with you uh with the playoff loss which frustrated me to no end or the playoff series. But um yeah, I I mean I feel like we are appropriately hard on the Vikings. Uh but I also I also don’t feel like the Vikings are a lost cause yet. And it’s when you start to see patterns that bother you beyond guys being hurt, like real patterns of problems. I feel like that’s where we talk about things. But, uh, an interesting, you know what? One, I got read on air, which is very fair. And two, two, um, interest. You know what? It’s the bye-week. I’m going to self scout introspectively. I’m going to self scout right here. This guy right here. Two thumbs. I’m going to self scout. And I am going to I’m going to see if I myself have maybe become a little bit too much of an old softy. Another one here from Hoops DWJ. We need to die down on the QB rehab school. We are making too many other teams better. Sam Darnold and the Seahawks, Daniel Jones and the Colts, I believe. Let me let me double double check this because I think it is the case. your QBR leaders, the first and second players, uh, ranking number one and two in QBR this season on ESPN. Yep. Daniel Jones one. Yep. Sam Darnold 2. Can you just a quick aside here, can you throw up that comment at 9:20 from Troy? He’s got a long It’s a long Yeah. You guys are pansies. You guys are pansies when it comes to the Vikings, Wolves, and the worst is the wild. You don’t listen to the show then, Troy. You don’t listen to JHS. I just spent with I I just spent the final portion of a show with AJ bitching about the fourth line and it’s used in a five nothing win last night. So So you say what you want about the Wolves, the Vikings, I’m going to self scout, but if you think that we are too kind to the Wild, you do not listen. You don’t listen to this show. Uh so do we make do we need to die down the quarterback rehab school? We are making too many other teams better. Do we need to abolish the quarterback rehab school moniker? No. Well, first of all, too, uh you you missed the show, but this week at some point in time, Phil and I were talking about like Daniel Jones, Sam Darnold, and this has nothing to do with Kevin Oonnell, uh and the Vikings, but Baker Mayfield, they all had very interesting side street stops where they didn’t spend much time or didn’t play a ton. But here’s the thing with Darnold, and I feel like we have completely either forgotten or dismissed this. Yes, Kevin Oonnell deserves credit. Yes, Sam had his first really or he had his only really good season as a Viking. But I feel like the Kyle Shanahan year that he spent in San Francisco gets totally lost on Darnold. Yeah. Yes. On Sam. But my point is that’s where the rehabilitation started. It didn’t start here. Okonnell carried it on and got and maximized him. But before you before we say, “Oh man, it’s all the Vikings secret sauce, right? Darnold stops for a year and I think he played in one game and I think it was a meaningless thing for San Francisco.” But that’s where he started. If you remember, Baker, I believe, went from Cleveland to Carolina. All disasters. And then he got picked up briefly by the Rams and he got put into like a Thursday night game, but he didn’t like he he wasn’t there to play a ton. And then he signed with Tampa and his career suddenly started to flourish. Right. Yeah. Daniel Jones had the brief stop here and then talked about it I saw on uh some type of podcast and what it meant to see like the professionalism that he saw here. So like with Darnold, I wouldn’t that’s not all KO. Kyle Shanahan played a role there. I mean that San Francisco 49ers quarterback infrastructure did. So, I don’t think we should all just take a bow and say, “Well, that’s where it all changed.” I think it started to change and then he came here and played and it changed more. Uh, but it’s interesting how those three guys in particular had these like either brief stops or they didn’t play stops. But you can’t underestimate, I think, what getting around a guy like Okonnell from a quarterback standpoint. Shanahan and McVey can do for a guy as far as taking him from probably disappointment to a rising tide. Uh Jud, what’s your take on Bo Knicks now that we’ve seen about five or six more games of his in his sophomore year? The Broncos looking solid so far. Um has your thought process of Bo Nicks or your opinion, not thought process, your opinion of how you perceive Bo Knicks, has that changed at all? Do you think he’s now more legit than he is? Is he still more propped up? I know you were very anti-bo in the trial. I was mistaken. And I would even say even after the rookie year being kind of propped up in a in a Shawn Payeyton offense, it it was um kind of being lifted up there. What What is your thoughts on Bone Knicks now compared to when he was drafted? Well, two things. One, I was wrong. Like he’s been he that folks judge that he was wrong. I was wrong on Bone Knicks. But the other thing, too, is I think it’s another sign of And look, I personally think that Pton’s a jackass, but that’s just a personal opinion. Um, but I also think that Shawn Peyton, like Drew Brees ascension to what he became was not an accident. Like, oh my god, he just really improved all by himself. He must have got some type of quarterback home starter kid. Like Shawn Payeyton is a really good older school a little bit obviously than the current guys, but really good offensive mind. And so, do I think if you plop Bicks in Tennessee right now that he thrives? Probably not. But timing, team and timing are everything. And so Bonix deserves credit. But I will, you know, it’s just to me another sign of you got to find the right place. The Jackson Dart thing really intrigues me now because rightfully so, Brian Dable developed or or is given a lot of credit for the ascension of Josh Allen in Buffalo where Brian was the OC, right? And then he did get a good what season or so from Jones, but then Daniel Jones regressed and ended up being jettisoned. And so my question with Jackson Dart now is A, does this last? And B, does this save Brian Dable’s job? Because going into last night, I was pretty sure he was a dead coach walking. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. But I was wrong. Wrong on bonus. See people, Jud, I can admit I’m wrong. Phil like I think Phil admits he was wrong. Jud can admit he was wrong. We all can you can change. We all can change. Um some some trade talk here. Some trade suggestions from our listeners here. I saw in the feedback uh uh section and in the YouTube comments section. Vikes to win says, “Here’s actually I think Jud, I’m very curious to hear your thoughts on this for for a trade deadline acquisition. Do we go after a prominent nose tackle and trade Jonathan Allen or Javana Hargrave in a draft pick? Think we have buyer remorse for both of them right now? Uh, I guess two-prong question to you, Jud. Number one, should they go trade for more prominent nose tackle? And should they maybe recoup some value for a veteran and Jonathan Allen and Hargrave with some of their depth? I know I’ve ripped their depth, but they’ve obviously had some nice depth there on the defensive line and Redmond Lev by Drake Rodriguez. Um, should they flip one of those veteran guys that they signed at the deadline, maybe recoup some draft picks? I don’t know that you could like without Now, now I will say in defense, and I didn’t see it, but if you believe PFF, Hargrave graded out really well on Sunday. Now, I didn’t see him impacting the game as much, but in fairness, he did great out well that but I don’t know that you could get much like I think if you took them to market what a fifth a fifth may maybe and but it would have to be a desperate team and they’re long in the tooth. I guess that wouldn’t be unless a team was desperate. Now, here’s my question about the run defense in particular because it’s been to me it has been well statistically it’s not been good. Now, the defense has been bend but don’t break. In a lot of statistical areas, they are solid, but run defense they’re not. Can you get that fixed in the by-week internally? And like Blake Cashman coming back should help, but I keep saying this to Phil. Blake Cashman’s hurt a ton. You can’t count on him. No. No. So, like okay, he comes back for two games. Hamstring goes again. So, it can’t just be like, well, Blake Cashman’s the secret ingredient. Blake Cashman, the one, you know, he missed a few games last year, but the one thing I was told when the Vikings signed him initially is he’s fragile. He gets hurt a ton. And my question is, can you fix the run defense during the by-week internally, even if Blake Cashman does not come back? But on the two veteran DTS, I don’t think you’d get much for them. If anything, I just don’t know there’s a market for guys that are pretty well paid and are that old. And you know, they were both let go. They were both jettisoned. So, they were not free agents on the the market. The Vikings liked them because they didn’t come with compensatory picks because the 49ers and commanders let them go. So, I don’t know that someone is going to come along and say, “We’ll give you a fifth round pick for either of those guys.” I would hope just against the run that this team can get a lot more stout. Are you looking at I know uh Jeremiah Surles joined us on Monday and said you know he we’d be cool with Blake Brandle being the center if Ryan Kelly’s career or season is is likely over. We’ll see what the status of his is going forward. But are you still in the camp of another lineman at the deadline? Are are you in the camp of buying anything at this deadline? I’d like to see a little bit more. Now, the deadline, the nice thing is brilliantly it’s been pushed back and we’re also seeing Sher tweeted about this a couple days ago. He said I he said that he expects up until the deadline there to be a couple of trades per week and we’ve seen three now. We saw two I think on Tuesday and one on Wednesday and I I need to see a little bit more. Now, I did think that this week they would go out and just try to get a center. Sure. So, Brandle played well. Brandle might deserve a chance, but hear me out here, okay? If Brand, you know, if Brle Brle got a chance, but he’s never played it before. So, I think it’s very hotty to say, well, we have found our guy. Uh, unfortunately, Ryan Kelly might not play again. And Michael Jurgens very much played like a seventh round pick, so I don’t really trust him much. So my my pecking order of trust basically begins and ends now with Brandle that be because of that I would go out and not saying it’s going to be a star player folks all right not going to get a Pro Bowl player but I would have gone out this week or I would go out before the next game and get a center and I thought the by-week would be the perfect time because that guy can then come into your building and at least learn some fundamentals of your system. So right now if I had a wish list decks I would I would like them to get a center. Doesn’t need to be a big name. It does need to be somebody who if Brandle starts to bust I don’t want to go back to Jurgens. Yeah I wouldn’t hate that. Um I’m kind of in the camp think of of of staying put where you are and and I know the listener threw out the hard grave or Jonathan Allen idea. I mean, yeah, if you if someone comes to you like with a fourth or something for one of those I I agree you’re not like that, but I I’m not in the camp of buy I’ll say this. I am not in the camp of buying. Like I any day obviously a first round pick would be egregious at this point, but even a day two pick off the table. Oh, like I I I want nothing to do with buying like a center would cost you a conditional pick though. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. I’m not I’m not trading my my hardcore assets right now unless you go on a run before November 4th and say we have a definite need and like we’re really good because that’s the thing is when JJ comes back here and we we can talk about this too. These next four games are so different than what we perceived initially. Philadelphia is right now a mess. Now they might come back in the next game October 19th against the Vikings and play great, right? But they’re a mess. The Chargers have, and it’s a short week for both teams, but the Chargers have injuries now, just like the Vikings. Alt being out, it’s a huge, huge loss on the offensive line. The Lions are playing very well, but then the Ravens. So, three of those four games, I’m not saying they’re easy to win. I’m not saying that the Vikings are favorites, but I am saying I perceive those games far differently than I did back in May when we guessed the schedule originally. Quick pause here. We’re going to talk about our friends at Standard Heating and Air Conditioning. So, right now at Standard Heating, you got to get your HVAC working. Okay. Uh so, they’re going to give you a $30 off furnace tuneup, but only through the end of October. So, a quick checkup today means peace of mind when that snow flies. And look, it’s been hot. It’s been unseasonably hot, but winter’s around the corner. You want to make this is the exact time to make sure your HVAC system is working. I turned the heat on this week for the first time. Okay? I got a there’s there’s a little kid and myself. uh in this house. Got to keep it nice and toasty and warm. So, uh contact Standard Heating, tell them that Purple Daily sent you. Uh you can join their smart club, too, which helps you get priority booking and discount on repairs. Uh and then, Jud, you can you can wash it down at Padres’s. We were hanging out there a few weeks ago for a watch party. Uh from one Irish man to another. Love me some patties. Love me some Padres’s. You know what? I am not. But what I do love is a good Irish and UK type of beer. And that’s exactly what our friends at Padres’s brew. Here’s the thing. We got a lot of places now that try to get cute with beers, right? They got their own drinks. They got their own spin- on drinks. And you know what I say? Bahanog. What I want is a good oldfashioned beer. And Padre provides exactly that. Um the the uh Red Chimney, absolutely outstanding. The Patty’s Premium, a great session beer to enjoy as you’re uh you’re perhaps watching football. You can also, as Dex just said, we had a a uh watch party. The Old Landon Factory is where they’re located at the corner of Broadway and Central Avenues Northeast. Uh there are beers available now in more than 200 liquor stores in the metro, Rochester, and Mano. Find them on Facebook, Instagram, or their website, padres.com. Brewing beer. That’s beer. God bless them for that. And a shout out to our friends at Underdog. So if uh if you’re looking to get on the Pickham, in fact, it it’s you know what it is at underdog right now? It’s Boosttober. That’s right. Boosttober. Get some boost on some of those pickums. play $5, too, and get a hundred bucks in bonus funds to, you know, get in on the Jackson Darts of the world. Uh, whoever the hell the quarterback is for the Vikings, whether it’s Carson Wentz or JJ McCarthy, there’s plenty of fun options. Keep sending me those winning ones. I I see them come through on my email. That’s awesome. Love seeing our purple daily audience win some money and have some fun at underdog. Sign up with promo code score. Again, play $5, get a hundred bucks in bonus funds. Back to the feedback here. Another another uh trade idea. This from Timberjack who says, “In terms of trades, I have a pretty big take. We let WZ go or trade him and go for a younger strong arm talent behind JJ. I say we go to Dallas. Try to get Joe Milton. Even though he may have not have vet experience, he can extend the field with deep bombs with his inside arm strength.” So, I think this is where uh and to Tim Timber Timack number one, we always appreciate reckless speculation and trade ideas. So, so thank you for for suggesting one we probably haven’t thought of before. This is why I am a big fan of developing your backup quarterbacks internally and what they’re doing with Max Brosmer. Sure. Like, yeah, car Carson Wentz. Um I have made my thoughts on him. I’m not going to die. Yeah, we don’t need to hear you rip a guy again who’s all I’m two in one. Yeah, QB wins two in one. Uh, but this is where like developing your own backups is huge. Um, you you don’t have to keep worrying about in May a sports dad trying to figure out which is the right backup quarterback or then you bring in the wrong guy and now you’re panicking. Develop your own dudes. I like that they’re developing Max Bros. I I don’t think they have to go out and trade for uh a legit veteran backup this deadline. They might do that in the off season. Maybe maybe they bring back Wentz. Like I I don’t know what they’ll I think WZ will probably want a starting job after, you know, playing at least playing somewhat well here in the three games. Yeah. Uh I I like the idea of developing your own backup quarterbacks and they’re doing that with Max Broer. So what would be the advantage right now to trading Wentz though? Like he’s played okay for you. He knows your system. Like that’s the thing too is every time you trade for a quarterback in season, you got to get them up to date on your system which takes a lot of time. So yeah. No, I think that it’s well known, as much as you are an anti- Carson Wentz guy, that I thought Sam Howell was a waste of time and he’s gone now. I actually think the quarterback room is fine. And and again, we got to find out on McCarthy. I was really impressed in training camp. It’s training camp with Brosmer. But yeah, if you could develop Brosmer as your backup, I think I think you’re right. I think that’s the that becomes important. So you so you can sort of stop this um this merrygoround of like, okay, we got we just acquired Sam Howell. Well, he’s not any good. Okay, let’s go get Carson Wentz. Uh but I yeah, I would not I don’t think you need to trade for a quarterback right now. Now, eventually, if you want to trade for a young quarterback who you think that you can develop into a solid backup, that’s fine. But I don’t have I don’t have a real just take away the names for a second of all of them. I don’t have a problem with how they’re structuring what they did from a QB standpoint. Uh, so you Doogie and Phil had a Jordan Addison conversation it looks like yesterday on the show. Jordan Addison. Yeah. What what they should do with him because of his continued off the- field issues. Man, there there’s some there were some takes in the comments section on YouTube. So, I pulled some feedback here. Nice. Um, our guy McQueen, loyal listener, he joined us at full football pads on vent line. Yeah, that was crazy. Was in unison. my brother in Christ on Carson Wentz saying he stinks. Um, so McQueen says, “I’m in favor of trading Addison mainly because it’s stupid to pay two wide receivers top dollars, but I wouldn’t trade him until after year four or even after year five on a franchise tag unless someone blows you away with an offer after the season. Squeeze as much value as you can out of him, both as a player on your team and as a trade ship. What do you think about that plan of of squeezing the value and manipulating the future kind of of Jordan Addison before you have to pay him? Well, yeah. One is I don’t think that you can pay him because I don’t think that you can trust him. That’s what I keep saying. My issue is though if he has So, if you’re going to trade him though eventually, every strike he accumulates hurts you as far as the trade value of Jordan Addison. So, I get what you’re saying. And if time can just stand still and like I can put him in bubble wrap in in a corner until Sunday, I’d be fine with that. I’m just more worried because that’s just it doesn’t stop. It doesn’t. I mean, dude, you got suspended for three games and we were told, “Well, that was last year, though. That happened last year. Now we’ve got him on the straight, you know, and now we don’t know what happened. Vikings aren’t going to tell us. Jordan’s not going to talk about it.” But at the end of the day too, you’re also the other problem too is you’ve developed this culture or this locker room chemistry that’s been good. And Jordan Addison has and I said this to Doogie and Phil. Justin freaking Jefferson like as his mentor. Jeff Justin is first of all an outlier for his position because he’s such a good guy as far as a teammate goes. Um he’s a captain. He has basically sat down how many times with Jordan to say like this is what you need to do to be a pro and Jordan doesn’t listen to him if you don’t listen like it’d be one thing if it was Keenan Mardell the wide receiver coach right old guy long in the tooth beating him up on how he should act but this is Justin Jefferson and you don’t listen to that something’s wrong with you so that’s where I have yeah if I can assure he will have no more problems then but then the problem there is you’re going to say I wonder if he’s fixed and you’re going to sign him to a contract. Uh I just this March I would I if I can get a first round pick the Oh, I’d run to the bank to go back in time. I found a I found a parallel because there’s always a team that says, “Well, we can fix them.” Always a team. Football is famous for that. um the Diggs trade, but I went with the Harvin trade because so Diggs was Diggs was disgruntled with the Vikings, but there wasn’t like all the stuff that’s come out in the last few years didn’t follow him at the time. But if you go back to Percy, tremendous talent, right? But he had problems and everybody knew it. And Seattle gave you a first and a third. So, if you can get a first for Jordan because Team X can fix him, I really like him. He’s a huge talent, but I but I would take a first round pick. I would I would definitely run to the bank for a first round pick. Yeah. And I I agree. I don’t think you can pay him. I I really don’t. There’s a lot of things against it, including just paying two receivers that much. But, you know, if you’re not going to be if you cannot learn from Justin Jefferson, I mean, why why would I have any faith? Here’s where uh I would be once upon a time or a path I would have been for it. May and maybe this can still exist. But like TJ Hawinson, I mean like this contract stinks. Uh he has not lived up to it. Um he’s a good blocker. He has a he has a cap hit of 21 million next season. Uh on March 17th, he has a 2.3 vest that that options that that kicks in. Um you’re looking at 2027 by the time you can cut him with dead money capit of seven and save 16 next year. You’re still on the hook even if you and $21 million like that’s that is a high cap hit. Um, so my my grand point is if you weren’t paying Hawinson, I would actually be potentially okay with paying Jefferson and Addison. And if you had like a tight end on a rookie scale contract, I could I could maybe get down with that. But I think with some of the off the- field stuff, um, and and the fact we have seen in the NFL, you can find receivers the like college is clearly like developing receivers at a higher rate than before. So, like I’m comfortable going to the wide receiver well in the draft early again, you know, in future drafts to replace a a Jordan Addison, too. Yeah. Well, I mean I mean you traded diggs and we’re all like, “Oh, you’re you’re in trouble. You’re in big trouble.” The entire league at Jefferson slipped through to you. So, yes, you can definitely I just this this strike three to me of what disappearing in London. I I you know and you’re coming off you had been back from a suspension for one game. SS9214 says, “Hey Jud, KOC was exhausted after 10 days in Europe and having to discipline the childish Jordan Addison. Just no energy after a tough game.” Talking about to the um postgame comments of him being annoyed for the win. Oh, sure. Uh coaches do what it takes to win. He said it plain and simple. Nothing to read into. You’re reading too much into his postgame comments, Jud. 17 words from a guy that ordinarily provides three paragraphs, no matter how tired that dude might be is not. It’s an accurate read. I will stand by that. I will stand by that. If every answer had been short, I might agree with that. Go back and watch the press conference. Every answer is not short. That answer is short. There was a reason for it. Did you see the game in the words of Mike Zimmer? Yep. Um, Thomas says, “I would shop Quesy before shopping Addison. Why? Addison might be the only good pick the Vikings have made since the Quesy administration. Don’t be mad at the truth.” Yeah, I I Oh, the drafts are Yeah, the drafts are awful, man. I I That’s what you just said before. I I have I’m I’m kind of out. Um, unless there’s like, well, if McCarthy obviously like is healthy and and plays to what he’s supposed to do, like I don’t envision Quesy going away. But if this season does kind of tail spin downwards and you you clearly aren’t getting the development of the players you drafted. Yep. Man, I think there’s a qu I think there’s a a long conversation this off season early of is Quay our right GM guy? I would like Well, yes, that’s that that’s very fair. Um, and I do think that there were some questions about that before he got the extension. I would what I would love to do is be able to vet the drafting process because I don’t think qu like what I want to know is how do the Vikings work the draft? Because with Spielman, you knew, right, he had his lieutenants. He was in charge and and like it’s old school. Crazy is not old school. What I would love to know I I feel like the entire system might be flawed and and that’s on I’m not absolving Quy at all like he is in charge so that’s on him but I also know he’s also not a football football guy and so my question is who are you counting on who are you relying on and how is this working um because yeah I mean the drafts to your point from before like that’s a huge part of the problem is you don’t have you lack the ordinary depth and you had to go out and sign guys, in part because your draft process was flawed. Now, that being said, here’s the really weird thing, Dex. Nobody signs UDFAs more successfully than the Vikings. So, like there’s And again, I don’t You really think Quay’s beating the bushes? I got to go. Here’s what I got to do. I got to go to some small town in Texas on Saturday to watch some football. So, I would love to know how how this process works and why they’ve had so much trouble in the draft, but yet after the draft, they signed guys and then what didn’t they keep like seven this year UDFAS? Yeah. Some Yeah, they kept That’s stupid. Like that’s craziness. So, I I think there’s a lot of questions, very fair questions to be asked about how the Vikings are arriving, where they are when it comes to, as our old friend Fran Foley once said, the player procurement process. Uh, a few more questions here. We have a Snake draft of the week. AJ Frederickson’s warming up in the pen. He’s gonna Why are we gonna bother? Just let AJ draft and and then let’s just go home. It’s true. It’s true. But a few more pieces of feedback here. Divine Comedy says, “Would fans rather be Seattle or the Vikings right now? Ask 31 other fan bases and they’ll unanimously say Seattle.” There’s your answer. I think he was he was commenting on your guys’ conversation from the Darnold McCarthy uh or the quarterback uh situation you guys had this week. I think probably if you ask other football fans who has it better right now, Seattle or Minnesota, I don’t know if it’s I don’t think it’s unanimously, but I do think the majority probably would say Seattle. That it’s an assumption, but I I feel decent about that. I see that. Yeah, I could see that. Uh let’s see here. What else? Another thing. Uh yeah, let’s go to this Darnold one for uh he says the bigger issue with letting Darnold walk away isn’t whether JJ can be or would be the QB of the future. The bigger issue is that this team is in a win now mode and they are wasting that and having Darnold would have taken advantage of that window by the time JJ figures it out or get healthy or if he can stay healthy some of the key pieces may be gone. I I think I feel like I should have pushed back at at this win now window that we were talking about a lot this off season. Not to say that they aren’t in a win now window. Yeah. But this league is set up where it’s incredibly difficult and it takes an incredible amount of incompetence for you to be not in a like win now mode or or to not have some type of success, you know, every other year. For God’s sakes, the Giants look like the worst franchise in the NFL. One of them look like one of the heading towards maybe a top pick again. They insert Jackson Dart and they’re back in it. The Patriots, um, you know, they draft Drake May. They they they go through some lumps last year. Now all of a sudden they go into Buffalo as seven and a half point underdogs and beat the Bills in their stadium. Here comes the Patriots, right? Uh, so yes, they they built this roster and had a free agent class that was set up to win. now. Yeah. I don’t think it’s necessarily like hinged on the fact if they don’t do it this year or in 2026, they’re going to be in like four to 5 years behind schedule. I I don’t believe that. Well, you’re trying to Well, f first of all, there’s two ways to view this. One is is it win now to win a Super Bowl, try to win a Super Bowl, or win now to try to be a good regular season team that makes the playoffs. And the Vikings quite frankly have been in the the latter category forever. That I mean that’s what they do. They’re they’re always they’re usually competitive and they make the playoffs a bit. Not all the time. Doesn’t feel like they do it in consecutive years, but the Vikings are usually uh fairly competitive. Um when we said win now though, we were talking about the fact yes, they signed a bunch of veterans and that clearly didn’t show a predisposition to being okay with with uh not trying to make a playoff run. But on the Darnold thing, and I said this before, I’ll go back to it. And McCarthy might be the same. We don’t know. But Sam Darnold, after what you saw in the last two games last season, including the playoff game when we’re talking win now, do you think there’s a snowballs chance in hell that that guy is hoisting a Lombardi? Like, yeah. I I I mean, Seattle can win 14 games, make the playoffs, and get drilled. Congratulations. How did you feel about that? So, like, this is a different discussion. and and if they had brought Darnold back, they could have won 11 games, 12 games. Okay? And like they’re three and two right now, which is not the end. See, this is where people there there is a certain faction of the audience that wants us to say that if they weren’t, you know, they not won five games, so it’s a failure. Well, that’s not how it works. But Sam Darnold proved again, I think he maximized himself a year ago. I think he maximized himself a year ago. And I think that was great. That was great for his career. It’s a great story. But he still lost in the first round of the playoffs. And in the regular season finale at Detroit, he spent that entire game peeing down his pant leg. Is that what you want? Cool. And if JJ McCarthy doesn’t work, you’ll have to move on. But I’m telling you, if you pay Darnold, even a reasonable contract and brought him back. I don’t think there is a chance that when the going gets tough that Darnold is going to sit there and just throw darts in. I think he’s going to do I think that Detroit game and the Rams game and the Rams game was a bad performance overall were a reflection of probably how far he can go. So yeah, if you want to go to the playoffs and lose, Sam is your guy now. Congratulations. Snake draft of the week coming up here with our guy AJ Frederickson. Fun topic, things you hate to pay for. We’ll have a we’ll have a discussion on the parameters of what that looks like here in just a bit. But a shout out to our friends at Two Men and a Truck. You can find him on on Purple Daily filling in for me this week. And by the way, am I not giving AJ enough justice in the quarterback cesspool challenge? I’m taking a lot of heat from this for my counterparts for not including Adrian. Well, two weeks ago you gave him a envelope that was sealed. I gave you a He opens it and reads it. Yeah. What What is he your your your your um Well, should should we just have added AJ to the I don’t know what we thought you would say. Well, I think you guys could have talked it through. I think you guys could have talked it through and then Age could could have been like, “Hey, at least I had a say.” Like, he literally was given an envelope that was sealed from Dean. Now, this week, I think it was far more palatable, and I think I backed off a lot this week. And then the problem is he also had a better quarterback that he would have picked two weeks ago. Like, you’re picking like you’re just pick you’re you’re you’re deprived of sleep. You’re rage picking. Like, you’re just I hate Carson Wentz and I’m Carson Wentz no matter what. He went below 50. He was a below average quarterback. And you know what? You finished last if I’m not mistaken. Okay. Well, oh boy. Anyway, I thought this week was much more palatable to me as far as the give and take. I mean, treating age like that. Come on. It’s part of Jud’s hockey show. Jeez. Well, here here comes AJ with with the snake draft. Uh, so we do have our topic this week. It’s things you hate to pay for. Uh, inspiration from Bartool, who did this earlier in the summer. I saw this. I think it’s genius. I think it’s great. So, I want to bring it to our snake draft of the week. But before we do that, uh, Age, I think you have you update the master spreadsheet. Yeah. Of snake draft documents every single week. Who won last week? And what are some of the the highlights from previous Snake drafts? So, Dex, I mean, after Sunny, it was a pretty poor performance in your first one back. This past week though, for places you want to have a beer, you just absolutely killed it. 65.1% you get the win um in a pretty big fashion. So that brings you up to 17 career wins back above batting 300 and now batting 500 in in the post sunny golf era. So congratulations there. One for one small sample size. Yeah. Right. Um so with that Mackey who’s missing this week, he’s sitting at 18 total wins. Jud the leader in the clubhouse at 22 batting a very respectable 344. Been struggling though. And then my very small sample size but I’m 6 for 11. And then uh right now Ross is he hasn’t been on one of these in a while. He’s batting one for three. In guest drafters we’ve had Elijah like way way back. It was a very like impromptu they I remember Mackey and judges grabbed somebody out of the comment section and then uh Chuck Aoke both of the guest listeners who have made uh snake draft appearances over. So unfortunate there. Okay. And then the order I’m sorry uh you do you have the order uh up AJ? So it would be everyone just moves up a spot. Yeah. So it should be Jud with the first pick, Declan with the second pick, and then I will get the wraparound where Phil would have been in the third pick. Or is it does it go the other way? Other way. So you if you’re drafting in place of Phil, so Phil goes up to one, you go up. So you’re you’re going to be one. Love it. Jud will be two. I will be three. And the wraparound. Okay. Three picks each. um things you hate to pay for. I guess we can, you know, we can just have as as someone comes up, we can we can talk about this. I understand there’s going to be some things like taxes, for example, you don’t want to pay for. I don’t know if we want to open like completely that there are certain things that that we could say yes that are that are probably not familyfriendly either. So, I’m not Exactly. Exactly. So, shouldn’t have to pay for that. There there there there’s a lot of things there, but like I’m kind of looking at this as things that are necessities that you just end up either having to pay an arm and a leg for. Maybe it’s a nagging fee. Uh that’s kind of the spirit of this. So age, you have the top pick here. Are you keeping track too, AJ? Do you need me to do Do you need me to help you keep track? Um no, I can. I got it. Okay. Okay. So AJ is going to have the first pick, then to Jud, then me for the wrap round. So A, you are on the clock. What is your first pick? Things you hate to pay for. Okay, first one. I think it’s the 1-1 in a clear one. Like there there’s a a few things that I think you could get out of the final couple picks no matter what, but this is like by far the one I hate the most and it’s parking. Yeah, I hate paying for parking. Yeah, you go to you go to any sports event. Okay, sweet. You’ve already paid all this other stuff and now on top of that, you got to pay $40 to park eight blocks away and walk through a stuffy, hot, sweaty sky, like a sky trail with other people and it’s just muggy in there. It’s like, you know, everybody wants to walk at 2 miles hour because we’ve never walked before. Oh, God bless. Parking at anything is awful. Street parking is terrible, too. Do you want to just go stop downtown for like 20 minutes and just drop something off at a building? Well, you got to find a spot. You got to parallel park. You got to look like an idiot because I haven’t done that in 6 months. So, it’s like a 17point I look I look like a cocoon in front of the public. And then on top of that, I don’t carry quarters anymore. So now I’m trying to set up an online service with the state with the the city of Minneapolis because I don’t have an account with them. And hey, what make and model is my car? It’s just parking is the worst. It’s number one. I hate paying for it. Just let me park. Let me leave my car in a spot for a couple. Love the passion. I love the passion. I mean, agreed. If I had the top pick, I think parking is there. It’s also like it can be intimidating too to your point of downtowns or if you’re if you’re uh like renting a car and you’re you’re like a different area you’re not familiar with. You’re like, “Can I park here?” Yes. Like there’s that fear of am I going to get towed or ticketed? I have a rental car situation. It’s a bus stop from 4 to 6:00 p.m. So they’ll tow your car. I actually had that happen. Yep. Have you ever done it where you you park, you go through all the hassle, then you get out and then there was like a tree branch in your way and then it’s like, “By the way, no parking for this one hour that you’re here. Got to got to move.” Yeah. I I went down to uh boy, I was I think I was 19 or 20 at the Metrodome when the regional final was here and I went down to the practices and I parked and you know at 19 I didn’t look up, right? I didn’t look at the signs and and it was a no parking like 4 to 6 and I got towed cuz it was a freaking bus. Yeah, I also hate paying for buses. All right, Judley, your first pick. All right. God, there’s so many good choices here, too. So many good choices. You know what? I hate paying for car parts. Car parts. Okay, car parts. So, like, you got to pay for your car. I’d get that. I’m not going to about that. But, first of all, I hate like I just want my car to run. I I don’t care what it looks like. I I I don’t like I I’m not a gear head. But then you think about all of the parts, right? All of the things that can go wrong with your car and the lights that go off and you take it in and if you’re like me, you don’t know what they’re saying. They might as well be speaking um um French. So, they’re like literally telling me and I’m and and who am I to say you’re lying to me. Now, I found a good shop here in the park, so I’m very happy about that. Yeah. Yeah. But I hate paying for car parts. I would even argue and and I’m not telling you you should change it, but I feel like it’s not even the car parts. It’s typically the labor at at places that jacks up your your fee cuz like parts are the parts the parts. Yeah. Well, that that’s all part of it. Yeah. So, yes. Car parts. The the cost of having a car that I paid for and I’m paying off. Yes. The whole thing. So, yes. Yeah. When I say parts, I mean the bill that comes to you because a screw was loose or some stupid thing took place. That also derails your day, too. Totally. You get in your car and there’s a light on. It just takes your day and flushes it down the toilet. So, yes, car parts and labor. Thanks, Dex. All right, so I get backtoback picks here. Uh, parking was definitely I I think I agree with AJ. It was the one of one. I was hoping might sneak by. I didn’t think it was going to, but I’ll give you this first one. And I know there’s sometimes a way to avoid this, but if you really want to see someone, you kind of have to just accept it. Give me concert fees, ticket fees, like ticket fees. That’s a good one. Bonus ticket fees that are just service charge fees that end up like on on any, you know, specifically I won’t name them because we have a great partner in SeatGeek. 10% off any tickets with Purple 10, but other other ticket partners that that we are that I’ll go nameless just jack up prices by like 40% in service fees. Now, I do try to go to local box offices, and you can usually omit those ticket fees by doing that. But if it’s a soldout show that you know it’s going to go quick or sometimes those box offices just like aren’t open during conducive hours for you going down there and doing it. So, concert fees, ticket fees with my first pick that I just I can’t do it. It’s It’s awful. But you do do it. I do do it. Sometimes you just have to. You can’t. Yeah. Things I hate to pay for. It’s unavoidable. It doesn’t It doesn’t make any sense because who’s doing the work there? I understand you’re housing like a like a giant computer somewhere to take care of all this. It’s a It’s a scam. But if if the seat is $60, there’s no reason my final bill for one single ticket should be 120. Like it that’s the ridiculous part. If it was like five bucks, I get it. Dex, that’s a great pick. Thank you. Okay, so next one here. Um, I’m between a couple. I want I really would love for it to maybe sneak around. I don’t think it’s going to. So, Jud said Jud said car parts, which I really really like, but I don’t think I can like I don’t want to say it out loud because then I don’t want you guys to snipe either. So, I’m I’m just going to go back to my my well here. Okay. Second pick for me. I’ll I’ll go I’ll go back to school. textbooks. If if I have paid all this money for college and for the course, love this. And this damn book is going to be obsolete to me in weeks. Okay. Like I I don’t I no longer need the book for the most part. Maybe you might not crack it at all. Yeah. You might drop cuz you’re cracking beers instead. Yeah. Like like the the the fact a textbook costs extra money to me. And some of them are insane. like hundreds of dollars for again something that might be completely obsolete and not beneficial to you in weeks from the time you purchase it. You don’t give me textbooks. The kicker there too is when it like you’re taking whatever 101 with Jim Professorson and then the textbook just happens to be written by Jim Professor. You’re just boosting your own numbers, man. Like it’s another scam. It’s another scam. It’s such a scam. It’s another scam. Jud, back to you. Your second pick here, things you hate to pay for. Okay, here’s here’s one. Here’s here’s a personal one. I hate paying for wedding presents for people. Oh, wedding gifts. I am going to your wedding as a favor to you. I am I am going as a favor. My your presence is your presence. My time is my gift. I am taking time out of my day. Especially as you age. Like like when you’re in your 20s, you’re going to go get tanked. That’s, you know, that’s a different story. But I’m saying like the expectation. In fact, I I I’ll even go this far. I don’t even mind and I think Dax we did did this with you and Kelsey. I don’t mind cash. Like I’m fine with you. Actually, your lovely wife gave us a Barefoot Dreams blanket. It is one of the most used in our house. It’s ridiculous. We were there. We My wife loves that blanket. I didn’t even know what she gave you. Yep. But anyway, wedding gifts. It’s like as I especially as I age um having to you know I’m okay my time you know I show up I like you enough to show up and now I got to give you a present for me showing up I should get a gift. Isn’t that what like the meal is for? Well that’s well as the as recipient as like as the bride and groom or whatever you know. Yeah. like you I like the food t like that’s why you need the RSVPs cuz you are paying for those meals like that that part is is a huge thing. Yeah. Um so I I like that one. Wedding gifts. That is good. And then it’s it’s awkward because um like when we had our wedding I obviously like I tracked what did everyone give us cuz now in my Larry David Kirbier enthusiasm mind I now have to match that to their wedding you know. So my friends came to my wedding they gave me X amount. Well, then they get married a year later. So now I have to either recuperate or reciprocate the same value or amount of money that was given to me. Yeah. And I would say this too. I would And so I I don’t know if you or Kelsey or you split up the the thank you notes them all. Okay. I would rather not get a gift to not have to send a note. Thank you notes are awful. Yeah. Like like like just show up. Let’s party. Let’s have fun. And then let’s all go our own way. I don’t want to the responsibility because people get very offended if they don’t get a thank you note, which I think is ridiculous as well, but like let’s just eliminate wedding gifts being a thing at all. So, no thank yous being sent back, no gifts coming in, you’re done. Brian says that is such a jutism in terms of uh your thoughts on on on what that’s a great pick. I I didn’t even think of it, but it’s a great pick. That was genuine, too. That was great. All right, Age, you get backtoback picks here to go into the rounds two and three. I think this set up super well. And this next one is fresh in my mind because I had to do it. I did a week ago. I was doing this a week ago. I did this before we did shows and stuff in the morning. Paying for car tabs. Oh, I almost took this. Damn it. Okay, so that was the one I was going to take. Paying for car tabs might be the dumbest. That’s a great one. Scammiest, scummiest thing you can do cuz first off, you forget about it. you forget about it and then it’s like you get a a thing in the mail. Hey, by the way, you owe us x amount of money and it wasn’t a big deal. Like when I had my first car when I was in high school was a 1997 Pontiac Grand Dam. I think I was I was paying 30 bucks max because it was such a crappy car. So, it wasn’t a huge deal. I’ve grown as a person. I have a job now. Like, you know, I’m I’m I’m an adult. I had to go in. It’s a ridiculous amount of money. It’s just so stupid and you don’t it’s not on your radar. And then it it’s one of those things too where they don’t really enforce it all that much. Like the last time I the last I think two years ago I didn’t get my tabs it was supposed to be September until like March. Never got pulled over around the pandemic. They quit. They just stopped. They just gave up. But but I will say this. I will say this. If you’re going to enjoy a couple beers responsibly, it is there are se there are several things. It’s the easiest thing to pull you over because your dabs are expired. Do you know I once got pulled over? It was 1997. I still recall the year and I didn’t get in trouble for it, but I was once pulled over by a cop at 1:20 or 1 in the morning because my rear tail light was not displayed was not or I’m I’m sorry, my rear license plate was not lit up properly. Yeah, the light was out on the license plate. Probable cause, man. I know. But I But that’s what I’m saying is like if if you’re like, “Oh, I’m going to punch on the tabs.” You’re you’re taking a little bit of a risk. Oh, it’s a risk. But but I agree with you, but it’s just such such an annoying thing because everybody pays so much money for gas and then for your car parts to have the car run and then the car to begin with. And then on top of everything, the cherry is, by the way, you need this little colorful sticker once a year. That’s hundreds of dollars just so we can drive on our fabulous roads that are under construction for eight months out of the year. Anyway, I almost took this. I almost took this. That was the one I was debating taking is car tabs cuz it is annoying. It’s it’s it is a necessity, but also I agree with you. Paying for it is it it always sneaks up on you and it’s always more than you think. So, okay. Your second pick, age. My sec I have a couple that I think I I don’t want to say them right now. I’ll come back to them after we all make our picks, but this next one feels too obvious to not choose. Okay. Tipping on like not on serviceless items. If I the what and I’m I might sound like a bad person here because I’ve worked retail. I’ve never worked service industry. So, people that have worked behind the counter um at a restaurant or like a you know a food place at a coffee shop might disagree with me on this, but we took a major shift as a culture at one point where if I walk up to the counter, I don’t want to have to have a giant swing uh screen swung around where it’s like, “Hey, do you want a tip on this?” And then it’s like 15, 20, 25 and there’s not really an option for nothing. Subway is my favorite. That’s That was That was the first one. There’s a Subway by my place. And when I was still doing uh nights and weekends and stuff for for score, I would I would treat myself. I get the cold cut combo before my Saturday shift. I did that on my my weekend shifts back in the day. It was great. You stop, you bring it in. And at a certain point, it they they did the same thing. Hey, do you want to tip? I’m like, what do you mean? Am I supposed to be Should I should I have been doing it all this past time? But now it’s it’s gotten so out of hand. At at at uh at like Twins I went to a Twins game this year. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. tip and I I got a hot dog. I The hot dog’s already enough. The hot dog’s already enough. I don’t need to tip on top of that. If you go to a counter, you should not have to tip. I I don’t tip. I I would call this uh serviceless tipping. Serviceless tipping. I don’t I don’t do it. I hit I hit no tip. Bye. That’s a great one. Age. Yeah. I I And look, like restaurants, uh obviously a different different game there that their their livelihood is is baked into Well, and they’re serving you. Yes. Exactly. Like if you’re if if you’re being if you’re being served, that’s totally different. But yeah, like if you are you you also can’t start tipping on or you also can’t start asking people to tip on things they haven’t traditionally ever tipped on. Like we all grew up with a waitress, a waiter gets tipped, right? Yep. Since when do we tip the sandwich artist? Artists already know they work for no money to begin with. Why? Exactly. They’re starving artists. All right, Jud, your uh your final pick here in the uh snake draft of the week of things you hate to pay for. And you know, it’s funny. This is This whole thing is like fallen into I feel like an age appropriate thing. Like I I feel like my picks it’s it’s like I love your guys pick, but they I’ve thought of different things. Um here’s a longheld one. Here’s a long-held one. And I hate this because I know that I’m just going to lose them all. Socks. I hate paying for socks cuz I can never find the damn things. You know, my finest what the time I love my socks the most is when I bring home a fresh package from Target. That’s a good one. Yeah. And then I don’t like I don’t like take them from the package. What I do is each day I take them out from the package a pair at at a time cuz I know I’ve got a package and I know where they are and I know that they’re coupled together and they’re fresh. And then after that, it’s, you know, one’s in this washer, one’s in that pile, one’s in this basket. I hate buying socks because it’s just an endless cycle of purchasing, liking it for about a week, and then being back into the where the hell did those socks go? Mismatching socks. Sock purgatory is like the worst thing, too, where you’re on the fringe of it’s not like there’s a hole that’s starting to form, but it’s not big enough yet to where I I can’t use this sock anymore, so I got to wear it. Then you feel it in your shoe the entire day where it’s like my foot is just scraping the bottom sole of my foot or like of my sho. It’s just it’s terrible. All right, last pick for me. This is very broad. Like I I could get a little bit more specific here, but I’m just going to say shipping. Like I I really wanted to say stamps cuz the thought and the process of paying for stamps is preposterous. either you have to go to the post office, which is top five most miserable places I ever have to go. I can’t stand going to the post office. Uh they’re they’re usually not friendly. Um you have morons in line, myself included, being the by the way. Like I’m not even going to throw shade at other people. I’m an idiot, too. Uh but like I don’t know how much it’s going to cost. Uh same thing if if if it’s not even just like you’re looking for a stamp. I have to weigh this thing. Now, I’ve gotten better as someone who Do I have anything around me here? Um, I I I I ship out cards. Who is this actually? Kaidder Montero of the Tigers. I I ship out cards. Okay. So, I I have learned the dimensions and the weight. I have I have cheated the system. I know how much things pay for. That does not mean it becomes less confusing though if rates change cuz like cuz also that’s set in in different things. So, I’m just going to say shipping. Shipping is so annoying. And when Jud says wedding thank you notes, the trade-off was I had to go to the post office and buy, you know, 150 stamps. It’s awful. That’s terrible. I can’t do it. So, I’m going to say shipping things I hate to pay for. Let’s stop with gifts. I agree completely. I love that. I love that. And I have in the last 5 years, I’ve shipped like two things. So, I actually avoid it. But if you had to do it Yeah. Complete pain, by the way, that’s a great snake draft. Places you hate to go the most. Yeah. places you hate to go. That’s a good one. We can add that to the list. Things That’s a great What do you guys have that like missed your list? Cuz I had a couple. I ATM fees. I know that’s the most minuscule of of fees. You know, typically you’re only looking at avoid. You can avoid them, but like your bank. Yeah. But sometimes you can’t. Sometimes you really need cash at at that that also like casinos, dude. Casinos. Oh, I’m not Yeah, they they those are like8 to $10. That that that is ridicul. Oh yeah. Don’t make me pay $10 just to lose more money, you know. Um I had like card sir charges when you don’t have cash on you cuz I don’t carry more than like a $20 bill at times. So when I go and it’s like, hey, you know, how do you want to pay? By the way, this is going to be an extra 3% because you’re using a card. Well, I get it, but at the same time, what are we doing here? And then um only cuz I had a flat earlier in the summer. Paying for air. Oh, air. Tires. Tire. Oh, I tires is a good one. Tires is a good one. Yeah. But air at a gas station. First off, I pulled in cuz you’re the closest spot. I can’t just get back in the car and go to the next place because I have three tires at work. You’re going to make me go inside. And I did this at a at a at a I’m not going to say the name, but a station store. I’ll say a station store. I had to do the ATM. Got hit with ATM fees. I had to take the cash I got out of there, get quarters, then go in and and and do the It’s just ridiculous. And somebody said here, “Yeah, four tires is like $1,000,000.” It’s insane. Tires is ridiculous. Well, yeah. Cars car cars as a whole, once you buy the car, which I’m It sucks. Anything to do with having to like it should run itself. There should be no problems. Um, the other thing too about air age is it’s my opinion in 2025 if any machine can only take change like quarters and things like that, it shouldn’t be allowed. Like like like if you can insert a credit card, that’s fine. But like I’ve got one right down the street where you got to put in your quarters. You should just say no, no, no, no, no. That’s not how it’s going to work. It’s going to be free now. Y or or find it. But I do have two stations. Two of them. Free air. Love free air. Yeah. I also age get one of those. Like I have the electric ones in my car. Like it it it you just you hook it up to the tire. It’s great. It it works fine. That’s what I use. That’s what I use. I don’t think there’s that much. I think that I’m I think I’m just being un No, I know what you mean. Yeah. I just didn’t plan here as well. Yes. Things you hate to pay for. Yeah. I had toilet paper. I had to My wife really wanted me to draft toilet paper. I mean, it’s just a never- ending cycle. And I got to you like like it should be it should be free. Toilet paper should be free. I like there’s no way around it. I don’t know. Maybe this is just like in my friend bubble, but a couple of my buddies have not a couple a good handful have gone to bed. So they back on that. Is that a big trend now? Like I’ve had a bedet every place I have lived in the last 5 years. I remember I love my it’s and it’s by the way I am the least handiest person. It takes 5 seconds to install. They’re they’re very easy to install now. It’s not like you’re rigging your entire plumbing system. This is a very simple process. Big fan of the bid. Huge fan. Changes your game. Changes your entire need toilet paper. Yes, you do. Yeah. So, you still got to buy toilet paper. Much less of it. Yeah. Okay. So, there’s your uh there’s your TMI of of of purple daily. I don’t think we went too far with that. Uh here’s your teams. AJ for winds up with uh parking, car tabs, and serviceless tipping. Uh Jud winds up with car parts and labor, wedding presents, and socks. Uh I have service charge fees, so like uh at like concerts and all that type of stuff. Uh required textbooks and shipping. That is your Snake Draft team. The voting will take place on the Score North Twitter account. Uh, so go check out there. Go vote on who wins this week’s snake draft. 1. I think the Vikings are going to have to make a decision on Max Brosmer. Do the Vikings think Brosmer is a solid QB prospect to at least be a solid backup if not a Starter? If they think Brosmer is the answer, the QB position is set–for awhile. What about the TE Yarousek? Where does he fit IF the Vikings move on from Hokenson?

  2. Me as a non-Midwesterner being SO confused by “car tabs” for two and a half minutes before I figured out they were talking about car registration fees. If you had asked me to guess before this episode what a “car tab” was it would take me 15 guesses to get it right.

  3. The widely accepted narration across the NFL is that if there was a coaching draft that Kevin O’Connell may be number one. Definitely top five. These fucking idiots who don’t realize that KOC is a top. Five coach in the NFL are dumb as hell. Stop giving that stupid ass idea the time of day.

  4. The biggest fear I have about next years draft is, Kwesi and Grigson with TEN picks! Any other draft room, that would be exciting, with the Vikings it's a feeling of dread.
