Charania: “My understanding is, this injury for LeBron—this nerve issue— first occurred in late July, early August during an on-court workout. So its now 2½ months and counting… So even before Lakers media day (9/29), im told Lebron James had not done much basketball for well over a month”

  1. You don’t fuck around with sciatica

Wise to not rush what should never be rushed.

  2. People need to understand sciatica. It’s not going away probably for the rest of his life. Sciatica flairs up and gets better for awhile and then flairs up again. He could get better and then just getting out of bed wrong by the way he moves his back he’s out again. I’ll be shocked if he even plays 40 games this year. Unless he does surgery on his back to shave down his bulging discs I don’t see how he’s not basically done.

  3. Yeah, this just reinforces a suspicion that has been creeping up in my head over this past summer:

As much as LeBron’s done an exceptional job of consistently playing at an elite level for 23 years and is in as great a shape as any active athlete in their 40s could be, I think there is a very real chance that LeBron unintentionally robs himself of that dream “Farewell Tour” season we all expect him to have for his last year, by maintaining his skill and general physique at a top level, only to be undone in short order by his aging body now being more and more susceptible to injuries and taking longer periods of time to recover.

It would not shock me if LeBron genuinely thinks he can still play for another two or three years, but ends up *having* to retire this year for his own health.

  4. Just to be clear…. This wasn’t from that workout video where he was doing deadlifts?

  5. LeBron recent comments about that he is on his own timeline and won’t necessarily wait for Bryce to join the NBA, the Lakers not willing to give him an extension. It all makes sense now. Father time has caught up to LeBron. I have back issues myself and I don’t wish it even on my worst enemy. Can’t imagine being LeBron and playing at full strength. it’s not something that can easily go away. some people just manage the pain and still play through it like Dwight did when he was on the Lakers the first time.

  6. It’s not a coincidence that he started golfing this summer and 2 months later he pulls a muscle in his back

  7. I told you guys this thing is concerning.

Nerves unlike muscles tend to be more puzzling to deal with. I actually think those are good news, I was telling I was expecting LeBron to miss at least 20-30 games early this season, if he is taking care of it for some time already it is actually a good sign.

  8. I don’t think it’s that serious tbh. He was playing golf with Bronny on his birthday earlier this week. Might just be a pain tolerance thing.

  9. I am gonna say it again: they are gonna run luka into ground. Just like mavs did before they got kyrie

  10. This is probably the real reason they had Luka sit out the first two games of preseason. Guy looked so damn bored out of his mind on the bench playing with his basketball for two games straight. But Lakers cannot afford him getting injured with LeBron already out so they’ll take some preseason losses for Luka to be 100% for opening night.

I bet they’ll have Luka play one or two preseason games just to test chemistry with Ayton/Smart/LaRavia but will have him rest for the others, really no point risking him getting injured.

  11. hmm sounds like it’ll be a season long issue which is really sad. getting injured during the offseason and not healing after two months.

  12. With how much he spends on his body, I’m sure there are ways to mitigate this. This will likely be a lingering issue for the rest of the season though

  13. How has he been able to golf with this? Or has he not been lately? I don’t follow him that closely so I don’t know how often he posts himself golfing but I swear he was just golfing like last week lol

  14. Dont worry boys I had a very similar issue occur playing ball, i was a little younger but near his age and I did PT for 6 months and oh, I still have the nerve pain years later but I am back on the court.

  15. Getting some Nash flashbacks when I heard “sciatica”
