Hiroto Saiki and Tatsuya Imai are two Japanese pitchers who could potentially be posted this offseason and sign for big money.

Baggs reports that the Giants are interested in Saiki and will have plenty of competition for his services. Hopefully they have interest in Imai as well.

  1. he’s the pitcher who effed up the dodgers in the pre season exhibition game against the Hanshin Tigers.

  2. Would be a huge signing especially since many of these guys want deferred salaries. I think Buster might land this.

  3. Buster can’t fail, and his get of jail card has an expiration date. I believe he will do what needs to be done this winter. As a fan, that’s all I could ask for. Go do it Buster..

  4. I mean, there’s gotta be at least one Japanese baseball player that wants to forge their own legacy, wants the benefits of the West Coast, and wants to not be under the shadow of Ohtani on the dodgers, right? Right?

  5. In *theory*, the Giants *should* be able to sign star pitchers with the way our park suppresses runs.

  6. Not only will the Dodgers outbid everyone but having the comrade of other Japanese-born players in a very Japanese centric city will entice most Japanese superstars to LA.

(Also they’ll get into the playoffs for years to come.)

I think other teams will get a chance when they have 5 stacked Japanese starters and they can’t fit anymore. Lol

  7. Players potentially coming over from Asia this offseason:

    Munetaka Murakami (1B/3B from Japan)

    Kazuma Okamoto (1B/3B/LF from Japan)

    Hiroto Saiki (RHP from Japan)

    Tatsuya Imai (RHP from Japan)

Sun mun song (2B/3B from Korea)- another rumored Giants target here

I think the Giants would pursue anybody from this list except for Murakami who isn’t a roster fit and likely goes to the Angels, Dodgers, M’s or Yankees.

Giants marketing department has to be salivating at the possibility of adding at least one of these players. JHL alone has been a marketing boon.

  8. I really just want to root for NPB players and it’s impossible when they become a Dodger.

  9. I mean eventually the Dodgers are not going to have room on their pitching staff right? Don’t they have like 4-5 guys on 6-10 year deals already? Unless they officially moved Sasaki to the pen but they are still going to pay him $100M once his BS deal is done
