All right, let’s just give you some details on what happened going into this game. Why are you shaking your head already? Because I should have known never to bet on the Rams or I’m sorry. I apologize, Smalls. No, the Rams should apologize. They’re disappointing. They disappoint you all the time, don’t they? Of course, it’s that team on the money to amaze you the level of disappointment that they were able to inflict on you. How many 49ers players were injured? Well, that’s what I was going to get to here. So, uh, here’s the list. It could take me a while. Um, the list includes, but it’s not limited to players that did not play for the San Francisco 49ers last night, the 4-1 San Francisco 49ers. Brock Pury, he plays quarterback. George KD, Hall of Fame level tight end. Nick Bosa, Hall of Fame level defensive end. Brandon Iayuk, Pro Bowl wide receiver. Ricky Pearl, probably soon to be Pro Bowl wide receiver. Jawan Jennings, someone on this show, me, has called him one of the most underrated receivers in the sport. So instead, M. Jones, former first round pick in New England, who was great his rookie year and has been horrible ever since, was great again last night. 33 of 49, 342 yards, two touchdowns. Year-to- date, six touchdowns, one interception for the Niners, who were up 14- nothing, then 20 to7. Rams tie the game at 20 apiece. Blocked extra point. That matters. San Francisco takes it 23 of 20 lead. First and goal at the Niners three-d line with 107 to go. Kairen Williams fumbles the ball. Where is he from? Not today. He’s from St. Louis. Yeah, St. Louis. I San Francisco goes three and Yeah. Right. It’s not like he went to Illinois. And then the Rams. He’s a hater. He is a hater. He’s such a hater. A hater today. 100%. Notice how I’m repping Illinois. You’re repping Virginia. Well, nobody told me about this. We didn’t We didn’t discuss this ahead of time. We just have school. There’s no way you didn’t discuss it. We don’t have a separate group chat, sir. We don’t. There’s no way you didn’t describe. Oh, by the way, that place that you sent me in our separate group chat. Amazing. Take a soft shell crab. I don’t have a group except the duck, too. I told you. I told you. But we don’t have a separate group. We don’t have a separate group. No. No. But both of our teams are in the top 25 and we’re proud to rep them on a Friday. Where’s your Wisconsin gear? I didn’t know I was supposed to wear it. We did not discuss this. You just said you have a separate group chat that talks about food and gear. So, I wasn’t We didn’t talk about gear. I just a very good place to get some takeout to watch the games last night. Yeah, we just talked about food. That’s what they all say. Okay. Yeah, I don’t believe it. Just saying. Okay. So here’s here’s the thing now that everybody is debating in overtime. Panero hits a 41yd field goal for the Niners. So they’re up three points. The Rams have fourth and one down three obviously with 336 to go in overtime from the 11 yd line and San Francisco stopped them to ultimately or to win the game in that moment. Did the Rams make the right decision? Before you answer, let’s hear from their head coach, Shawn McVey, on the failed fourth down conversion and the overall loss to the Niners. Thought about maybe trying to draw them off sides. I took one, they took the other, and um it was a uh poor decision by me right there. But um you know, to give the Niners credit, they made enough plays to be able to win the football game. We had plenty of chances throughout this game. You know, we stayed in it. We fought, we battled. Um but there’s a lot of things that we have to be able to clean up and um a lot of football left, but uh I’m pretty sick right now. Now, I’m sick of the spot that I put our group in um to end the game, but um hey, these are the tough beats that you got to be able to learn from and move forward, and that’s what we’re going to do. Did they make the right decision? We know the end results, but did they make the right decision? Because decision and execution are obviously two different things. Yeah, I mean, they made the right decision. Analytics gives them a 49% chance of being able to win that game by going for it versus a 39% chance of being able to win that game by kicking the field goal. Right. Let’s not return the favor to Kyle Shanahan with the whole third possession bit in overtime. They made the right call. They just didn’t get it done. And we got to give a lot of credit to that 49ers team, especially that 49ers defense because those guys rose up led by Rob Salah in a tough spot without their best player in Nikki Bosa who’s lost for the season. So, I want to give credit to them for making plays especially when the game was in the balance. But that is a bad loss by the LA Rams considering how depleted the 49ers were. That is an awful loss. Really bad. Awful. You guys are going bad loss before you go good win. Yes. The power rank because of the injuries because here’s the deal. They they were depleted. But then after halftime, listen to this. This is just after halftime. The Rams miss field goal, block PAT, fumble at the one yard line late in the fourth quarter and get stopped on fourth and one in a little red zone and OT to end the game. So you had missed field goal, blocked field goal, and then you get stopped not once but twice with one yard to go in the low red zone. That’s two turnovers. Yeah. With the game in the balance, that is unacceptable. That is an awful loss for Shawn McVey and company. Even though we all sitting here yesterday could not see a clear path to the 49ers being able to win that game because of how they were decimated with injuries. I did bring up the fact that Kyle Shanahan owned Shawn McVey in the head-to-head record. He’s 11 and seven going up against Shawn McVey. He’s just got the secret sauce. He’s cracked the code in terms of being able to best Shawn McVey le teams. But then also, it’s a division game. Not a lot of state secrets between the players, the coaching staffs, and the organizations as a whole. They know those dudes. They’re not afraid of those dudes. And even though the 49ers were on the road, that’s like a home game with them playing in LA. Half the damn stadium was in red. That’s right. So it it was the perfect confluence of events for the 49ers to pull off the upset. It’s the biggest upset for the 49ers since 2011. They went into that game last night, eight and a half point underdogs. So credit to them. And then M. Jones, the way that he played, the way that he operated that offense, he deserves a ton of credit cuz Smalls, that dude took a beating last night, and yet he consistently put that team in position to be able to put points on the board. Yes, M. Jones deserves a lot of credit, as do the 49ers for summoning the requisite energy needed in order to not let the injuries get the best of them and go out there and beat a quality opponent. And a lot of people are gonna say, “Yeah, it was at But you’re right, it’s always a 49ers home game essentially at Sofi. I love that their slogan is whose house Rams house, but they treat it like an Airbnb when the 49ers are in town, you know. Yeah, exactly. When when the home quarterback has to use a silent count on third down, that’s not good. Come on. Not good. But this is a bad loss for the Rams. There’s so many injuries on that 49ers team. This is a team that you’re competing for in the division that is hopefully going to get healthier and has the easiest schedule in the NFL. You had a golden opportunity to get a huge divisional win. The 49ers close out as an 8 and a half point underdog. This is the biggest upset so far this season. The Rams absolutely beat themselves in this game. There are a lot of miscues. There’s no excuse for them this morning to lose that game. Everybody also wants to go to QB controversy now. Like, do the do the Niners have a QB controversy? Let me be clear on something. As someone that is a Brock Birdie super fan and has watched almost every single start of M. Jones’s career, he looked last night in this season like he looked in his rookie season, which people forget. They won 10 games and you know they had three games that year where they scored 45 points or more with M. Jones as the quarterback. No, we forget that. Yeah, we and and he was great that year. I don’t anticipate him being better than Brock Pury. And even if he is, it doesn’t matter. Brock Pur’s going to get his job back immediately because they paid him an insane amount of money and he’s done nothing wrong to to lose a job. If you want to see he’s taking them to a Super Bowl, right, and an NFC championship game where he got hurt against the Eagles. And who knows what happens if he doesn’t. But if you want to sit here and say, “Hey, they shouldn’t have paid Brock Pury cuz Kyle Shanahan can make anyone good.” You can make that argument, but then I’m going to show you Tre Lance, you know, who he did not make good, unfortunately for Tre Lance. So I think that what you have is maybe maybe we could do this. Maybe they have the best backup quarterback in the league. I don’t even know if we got to take it there. M. Jones is tailor made for Kyle Shanahan’s offense and what he wants to do. Nobody should debate whether or not Brock Perie is a better player. We’ve seen Brock in big moments played well. Hell, Brock played well in the Super Bowl that they ended up losing. Right. He did. Right. So, I can’t assign that level of success to M. Jones because I haven’t seen it yet. But in terms of what Kyle Shanahan asked him to do, M. Jones executed it flawlessly last night. It was death by a thousand paper cuts. I mean, when you look at the scoring drives that the Ners were able to put together, eight plays, 17 plays, 12 plays, 12 plays, 12 plays, eight plays. They only had one explosive play last night, and that was a 35 yard catch and run to Kendrick Bourne on the first drive. So, no explosive play. They only had one explosive play, one play over 20 yards, no rushes over 10 yards, and yet they were still able to muster up 26 points on the road. Wow. That is that is incredible from M. Jones who at times last night I wasn’t sure was going to make it through the game. So I give him full credit. But we also have to give Kyle Shanahan a lot of credit because last night he won a game with only one explosive play and his quarterback having an average depth of target of four yards. That’s it. That’s it. I I I have to walk further to get out of the studio than M. Jones had to throw the ball last night, which is smart to use him that way. It was don’t have him he can’t do it. It was but again in saying that it’s also an indictment on Shawn McVey. It’s an indictment on Chris Schuler the defensive coordinator for the LA Rams. There’s no reason why they should have lost that game. No reason at all. The roller coaster ride of Kyle Shanahan. I think he’s gone from underrated to overrated to back to underrated at least for now. Also got to give a shout out to Kendrick Bourne cuz we we cooked him yesterday on the show for all those drop passes. He showed up in a big way last night. 10 catches. A career night for Kendrick Bourne. Born again, second team have played on last night. Well, this is the fun of ESPN Bet. We went into last night thinking with our unsportsmanlike parlay, which you could have gotten hopefully you did yesterday on the ESPN Bet app of we got two of the We got one, sorry, we got one easy in the bag. We got the Rams money line. That’ll be fine. It’s will Stafford throw 30 plus passes and will Puka Nakua have a touchdown. Amazingly enough, the one we didn’t the only one we didn’t get was the one we thought we had the gimme going in. And that makes that makes the beauty of this. But we thought it was the easiest. It’s not your fault. It’s the Rams. So, you know what we got to do, Smos? So, we got to play again on ESPN.

  1. The rams did the right thing to go for it. Might of been a terrible play they chose to run but i would a million times rather a loss then a fucking tie! I think having the ability for a tie is so goddamn stupid! It literally proves nothing. Im a NINER fan, and if it would have been them in that position, i would rather they had gone for it win or lose!

  2. How is that not a good win for the NINERS? You said it yourselves they were down so many players. The Niners had a blocked field goal they were able to prevent two td's in their red zone and they got the stop TWICE to prevent the rams from scoring to end the game! How is that not an amazing win after an amazing effort! I swear the Niners never get their flowers!

  3. So…Jacksonville should be a 10 top team since they best SF and SF wasted 500mil on Purdy and BosašŸ‘. Rams lost that game…period!!! They came in flat and didn't play well

  4. I am also a Brock Purdy super fan, but you cannot deny how good Mac jones has looked and played this season. Absolutely 100% there is a qb controversy and I’m not convinced that Mac isn’t the better qb with the better arm.

  5. Yes the niners beat all 3 west teams. Im doubtful they will beat seattle or the rams a second time. Especially with both qb injured. Seattle offense will get better after week 8 and i believe rams will improve to. Plus there is the cards too. Its dog eat dog and it absolutely the best division in the nfl.

  6. Hey Michelle you only hate the Rams because they left St Louis well clean your ears and listen up the Rams were LA before you were born so get over it and learn your history little kid

  7. It's just one game dudes, with 12 games to go, when the smoke clears, at the end of the season, the Rams will still win that division, the Rams lost two very close games, the 49ers lost to the jaguars at home, really, keep running your mouth 49er fans, at the end of the season, the Rams will be representing the NFC in the Superbowl, just watch and see young one's šŸ˜…

  8. Bang bang niner gang! First of all we are 3-0 in the division, which the NFC west is the toughest division right now, outside that even our lost to Jacksonville which they balling and improved with a top 10 defense which they could win there division. We have 8 players not even playing…. Fuck what they talking about and the defense getting better week to week. Once kittle back and Jennings with Bourne on the field at the same time problems.

  9. The rams wouldn’t even have the 7 wins against Kyle if the 9ers weren’t losing on purpose for draft positioning those years they had injuries everywhere and knew they weren’t going to the playoffs. Thats one of the reasons why I love the 49ers. When they know they aren’t gonna contend, they don’t win meaningless games to end up with shitty draft spots. Mike Tomlin loves doing that n that’s a good reason he ends up 8-8 or 8-9 every season! If you’re gonna be bad, BE TERRIBLE

  10. Why did we come back here, not of these so called experts called it right, they’re just big time guessing like everyone else…

  11. this Saleh Defense has been incredible 3 game saving stripps and punch outs on with a sack stripin seatlle a sack strip against the saints and a goal line punch strip against the Rams

  12. Let's be clear. . . The 49ers don't have a quarterback issue.

Brock Purdy is our quarterback. Jones is our backup, and he got his opportunity to play, and he performed great!!! He's also showing other teams what he can do with the opportunity that the 49ers have given him.
