18 years ago my parents took my early teenage self to a Redwings game. I was wondering why there was so much red carpet on the ice. It was Yzerman’s retirement game. So glad I got to experience this in person.

  1. I went to the game right after the major Probert/Domi fight. I would have been 11. I knew what had happened, so I understood the context. At some point, I’m going to say right before the initial face off, but truly I don’t remember, they put the fight on the Jumbotron. The whole crowd rose to their feet, and cheered it on. Epic moment. Will never forget that crowd.

  2. I remember hearing a lot of “Here’s to the Heroes” and thinking that was a cool song. We also got to tour the Red Wings locker room at Joe Louis and I remember that being f* cool.

  3. I watched this from my break room at work. I was supposed to be on a 15 minute break, but stayed the full 45. I got fired shortly after 😂

  4. will never forget how pumped i was to see all those old yzerman jerseys on the ice during warmup that night. canada, peterborough, orange all star, cup final, etc.
