Drew to start game 5

  1. Looked great Thursday night so let’s hope he can continue. Regardless win or lose starting pitching has been the Cubs biggest issue this post season. I know the market was bad at the all star break but we could really use a starting pitcher now especially with an injury like Hortons

  2. I still expect Rea to throw the most pitches tonight, but I’m not sure why you don’t just start him. The Brewers aren’t left-handed heavy.

  3. Match ups should be interesting. If this works, bullpen will be the heroes of the season. If it fails…Lord help us

  4. Didn’t expect that either. But if he can give us 1-2 good innings and hand it off the Rea or Soroka, then Imanaga, Palencia. and Keller, I think that can work.

  5. Came here for this…CBS has Shota listed as starter and I had a mild freak out.

    Edit: Wrong website

  6. Everyone will be on a short leash tonight. Would have thought Rea would get the nod though

  7. He’s pitched 5 perfect innings so far in these playoffs. Has been looking pretty dominant so I like getting him in early to get Turang and Yellich out 1st time through.

  8. Good move, with Shota really struggling, a BP Game was always the way. Anyone that can either throw ground balls or get strike outs is the way to go tonight.

  9. There is literally no good option so you might as well do a bullpen game from the start. We have 5 reliable relievers (Pom, Thielbar, Danny, Kittredge, Keller), and each of them has to get at least 3-4 outs (15-20 outs). We also need somebody else (Brown, Rea, Shota) to step in for a combined 3-4 innings (7-12 outs). It’s doable but it’s gonna be nerve racking to watch.

  10. Solid choice. He didn’t throw many pitches in game 4. If we could get 2 innings from him that would be great

  11. They’re opening with Pomeranz because he’s got the least chant-able name

  12. I love it. We need to win the first 2 innings and our starters on the road were destroyed

  13. The playoffs show you exactly how much pitching you have or don’t have. Assuming Shota can rebound next year and Cade can be healthy, I’d still want the best starter on the market plus one of their dependable value moves. Having to piecemeal is frightening. Hoping it can work tonight.

  14. Pomeranz actually has very good numbers against the brewers this year, so far. It’s the correct way to go. Fingers crossed it pays off!

  15. How many pitchers did the brewers use two days ago? I know we have a lot available arms

  16. May the best team win tonight.  If it’s you, I want you to win the World Series.  Just expect us to pipe down a little extra Arctic air in January.
