Why this Sabres fan is going completely viral…

[Applause] Man, Buffalo Sabres fans, they’re not happy. And I can’t say I blame them. Game one of a brand new season and they lose 4 nothing to the New York Rangers. Afterwards, this video of a Sabres fan was captured. And I think he sums it up well. It’s unbelievable. You came for one goal in a hockey game. 6 years old. That’s how old I was when they made the playoffs. Jose Disney World every time I shut off. Now listen, the Rangers were shut out in their own home opener for the season, so I’m not going to run my mouth too much. And you know what else? I actually thought this was a pretty good game for the Sabres. It was close for really the first three periods. And I thought the really big difference was, no surprise, Igor Shurken. Although I will say I also thought Alex Lion had a good game. We’ll take a look at the goals in just a second, but I’d say the single worst aspect of the game for Sabres fans has to be the injury to Josh Norris. He appeared to tweak something on the faceoff. And I mean, non-cont injuries always concerning. He was able to get off the ice under his own power, which is good. Josh Norris has a history of injuries, many upper body. This obviously appeared to be lower body. Lindy Ruff said, “This is a similar injury to last year, but brand new. Very possible this could be a long one, which really stinks.” The Sabres were also for this game without Zack Benson, their 2023 first round draft pick. He’s developing nicely and I think they want him to play more big minutes. He took a puck to face in practice. Ended up being a pretty serious injury. Looks like he’ll be back mid next week. And Owen Power, who’s out, will also be back. But yeah, Josh Norris very concerning my opinion. Anyway, in the game, laugh open the scoring just over 10 minutes in. Immediately after I had tweeted about whether we’d ever see a Rangers goal, potting in a loose puck right in front of the net. We wouldn’t get anything else until the third when the Rangers, including RePy, who I’ve actually really liked in the two games so far, fight a puck loose in Buffalo zone, get it to Susi, he scores on the wrist shot. About 3 minutes later, laugh with a beautiful forch check would win the puck. JT Miller would tip in a shot. Rangers three nothing. Adam Fox with an empty net to make it 4 nothing. So all in all, I mean, I didn’t think it was a terrible game for Buffalo. It’s just how far along are we now? Buffalo has been bad for so long. And even when it looks like on paper they’ve got the pieces. And I really do on paper think Buffalo is a good team. And how many times have we looked at former Buffalo players across the NHL and seen them be stars? It’s just not good enough. And I don’t know, Pigula, he doesn’t seem to have any desire to get it back together. At least not while the Bills are good. Sabres fans though, let me know what you guys thought on all this and more down below.

  1. The sabres used to be my childhood heroes. Mid 2000s were the best times. I always reminisce about those days and still hold my season tickets for that reason. Ask any team to go 14 years with no playoffs and still sellout on opening night. This Norris trade is an absolute disaster, we're going to have no choice but to buy him out and I feel we are in a way worse position then the beginning of the post eichel era. Pegula sucks

  2. I hate fans that are angry at their own team, I'm a Leafs fan but I'm ashamed of the fan base because of how toxic they are. I was in that "Leaf fans reaction to game 7" video and I got a lot of flack for my positive to the team, negative towards the media and fans clip. I just don't want my Leafs going anywhere so I'll keep praising them, Sabres fans need to have the same outlook. Maybe Sabres lose because their fanbase is this angry at them, and apparently they were booing powerplays? How is that supposed to encourage a team to do better?

  6. i've been saying ever since they traded Peterka, this team is missing 4 top 6 forwards. You cannot win in the NHL with only 2 guys on your roster who are top 6 forwards. Period. And going into the season expecting a career 3rd line center like Norris with a track record of injuries, to be a no.1 center was madness. This team is fundamentally flawed. and what's worse is lets say the sabres trade some of their blueline for top 6 forwards, i still don't think they even have a functional 3rd or 4th line EVEN WITH trading only defense talent… meaning even with 4 more good forwards the guys they have on the roster on the frontline aren't good enough to play lines 3 or 4 in the nhl either.

    This team is just structurally wrong. I cannot fathom why Kevyn Addams thought building the leagues best blueline would be the key to getting into the playoffs for this mess of a roster. I mean it's comical when you look at it. I'd take the sabres blueline over the two teams who made the cup finals last year. yet this team isn't in the class of either of those teams.

  11. Sabres are like the Blackhawks in the late 90s and 2000s Just waiting for the owner to die so they can get someone in charge who wants to put a good team on the ice

  14. As an Oilers fan who went through the Decade of Darkness, I truly feel for Sabres fans. That was a long enough wait. To almost go 2 decades without playoffs is lunacy. To be abandoned by your star franchise player is brutal. This goes beyond what is happening in the locker room and the coaches. This is an interfering ownership thing. It’s the only thing that makes sense.

  15. 14 years ago I was 18 and in grade 12. Since then, I’ve gotten married, bought a house, had two kids, been divorced… I’ve been a dad for 8 years. Crazy

  16. I live in Buffalo, can confirm. Kevyn Adams is a doormat for all the other GM's in the league. He fucking sucks and for some reason Terry believes in him

  20. Even if those few years ago when we missed by a point, even IF we somehow slipped in over Florida and then got swept, at least we'd have something to cling to. The playoffs that year probably wouldn't have been as good if we made it over Florida, but still. We couldn't make it during the Covid year when like 20 something teams made it. The League could give us a handicap of starting the season with 20 points, and we'd probably have to usual November collapse of going 0-10-3 and still miss the playoffs by 12 points. It just seems like any factor by design, by man, by God, or by nature, this team cannot see the postseason.

  27. The Atlanta Thrashers were still a team the last time the Sabres made the playoffs. The jerseys still had the little Reebok vector logo on the back of the collar. Let that sink in.

  32. As a canucks fan, the only thing that makes me feel better is knowing the sabres exist and are the worst franchise in history 😂😂

  33. If this is going to be our entire season and Josh Norris will be out long term, what’s the reason to cheer for anything this year? We can’t even make it through one game without literally everything going wrong.
