I remember this game like it was yesterday. My 1 year old son turned our comcast cable box off right as Belt was heading to the plate. If you remember those cable boxes, it took awhile to power back on. By the time it was back on, they were already celebrating in the dugout.
And we didn’t have a Manfred Man either!
I watched the first nine innings then had to go out to dinner
Was keeping up on my phone and got home around the 15th lol
I remember this game fondly. I was living in Oregon at the time and was the only Giants fan in a bar full of Nationals fans. The amount of friendly shit talking was awesome. And then we won and I was the loudest one in the bar. Things got a little fuzzy after that.
Mariners fans can remember it too, though. They lost an 18 inning playoff game to the Astros in 2022.
My bar tab looked like a CVS receipt
A friend called me to hang out in the top of the 9th of this game, I told him I’d get back to him right after the ballgame ended… and then there was a whole other 9-inning baseball game
Was so mad because I had plans that day. Came back at the bottom of the 9th not realizing I had a whole 9 innings still to watch
I watched 9 innings, bought a new car, had dinner, then came back and the game was still going.
Yusmerio!
I was so bummed having to go to work in the middle of this game and then I got off and it was still happening.
Two epic pitching performances from Huddy and Yusmerio!!
I had just moved to DC that summer from CA and got to attend this 18 inning game in person. I remember the fans chanting “serve me beer” because they shut down the bars but it went an entire extra game in extra innings. Best game of my life.
Such a sweet swing and bat flip from Belt
That’s funny you brought this up funny thing was while I was watching the Dodgers and Phillies play and when Harper came up I was waiting just hoping Strickland would cone out of the pen for the Dodgers.
I see belt
Winning a road game no less
I was at this game! I had to drive back to work in Norfolk in the morning, but we stayed the whole game lol.
Thank god the Nats pulled Zimmerman
peak game
I vividly remember this and hating Bryce Harper the whole time
I remember heading into Yom Kippur services thinking the game would be over before the end of Yom Kippur. We got out as The Giants tied it.
The difference between this and the Mariners game was, the series was still in the balance u til the Giants won it. After that, the Nats just couldn’t recover. For the Mariners you have to wonder if their one can recover for the next series.
I was at that game with my son. it got so fucking cold and all the shops in the stadium were closed, couldn’t even buy a $100 hoodie.
every inning we were like “we can’t go, we made it this long., this is the inning.” that started in like the 13th inning lol
I still remover urinatingtree’s video on the Nationals: “AGONY, THY NAME IS BRANDON BELT”
The call from the Belt home run was legendary
I was in Baltimore and there were many unhappy fans there, many happy fans too, but I was the only giants fan
2 quality starts from Giants pitchers in one game. Petit was a DOG!!
Gotta say – the Mariners are my AL team and they’re kinda feeling like this might be it for them. The Jays will be tough. But man – if they get to the WS and take down the Dodgers…
I have the funniest memory of this game. I was a freshman in college (eastern time) and had just started dating this one girl that I liked. I went back to my dorm room to watch the game and at one point she came over. She sighed for 16 straight innings waiting for it to end asking if we could turn it off. But I had my priorities straight and she stuck it out to the end with me. “Are all baseball games like this?”
“Only the best.”
2002? I don’t remember that…
🤣

I remember that game. Worked graveyard at the time so I was able to watch the entire game
Hey I went to this game. Sobered up by the end of it since they stopped serving in the 7th. 11 innings no beer. A travesty.
