HIGHLIGHTS: LA Kings at Winnipeg Jets | 10.11.25 | NHL Highlights

Leferier against Caves eye of follow and the rookie Gibbreov [Applause] Kings coming off an electric 65 shootout victory Wednesday in Vegas and underway here in the first period as Biffield races in FIA right in great chance and a better save by Halabach 15 seconds in the attack and all of a sudden the Jets focus on the puck. Watch Biffield. He knew he just had to poke it. You can see with FIA, he finally does get control of the puck, but we’ll see him take it first on his skate. And I think Kevin, you know, he just didn’t really have 100% control of it. He made the quick move, but Heluck was right there. The goal. Now it is Apollo, the former King trying to go wide on Trevor Boore. Now centered by Taves and caught off by Keer and he is checked and Josh Moresy the Jets top defenseman ahead now for Nomesticov dropped off Nyquist a shot and Keer got a good look at that and he makes the glove save. Those two are dynamic together. Jets keep it alive and Valardi to the line. Delayed penalty here on Los Angeles. Shot by Connor right on handled by Keer. And now the Jets will get a power play. Caves taking the face off here against the No. Last year the Jets had the best power play in the NHL. 28.9%. They went 0 for four on six shots in the opener at the line. Peon shoots it and Keer just got a piece of that down low for Taves trying to make a play. It wasn’t there. Peock fires it up high and a good save by Keer Shley. That pass blocked by Joel Edmonson and then Valardi to Shley right in front. Defended well now a shot by Valardi trying to go short side on Keer. Now centered by Apollo wide open. He scores. Top corner powered play goal. Philadelphia Jets. Throughout the entire power play for the Winnipeg Jets, the Kings never did seem comfortable. Kings having a difficult time getting ticks on the puck. And through that power play, John, what happened? Winnipeg had two men in front of the net. At the end, you’ll see it’ll only be one. Look at the spacing here. The spacing by the Jets is absolutely perfect. And right there you see what Evson has to back off. He thinks something happened back door. Here comes Clarko. Dowy fakes it. Pipe to the middle. Back door feed. Kopitar. Right on. A save by Helok. Their 10,000 game the same season. So we ran at full strength on the ice in front. Backhander. Right on. Keer makes the save on Valardi. And now Connor and that may have hit the pad of Keer. Last year the Jets had six players with five or more power play goals. Polardi led with 12. Here’s Shley in front. What a save by Keer on Valardi from the swap. Spent with total control of the puck in the offensive zone for the Jets on the power play. There’s the better chance you were talking about earlier, John, with a big save. Valardi’s low. He takes a step out high and the former Jet Joel Armia there kept alive now back for Morrisy and a shot stopped maybe offy and covered by Keer. They spread it out. They have guys that can hurt you from every position on the ice. Now the Kings up the middle and a good glove save by Keer. Wow by Shifling. How about that one in at the last second at this time in move it off. move it to the outside very quickly. Give and go with Connor and that’s all it took. Watch the glove hand of Keer. Wow. It’s there. It’s in position now. Taves in by field. Jets win it back. Peock. Shot blocked and settled by Keer with need a rider right in the blue. Pay up. 40 left in the minor. Now stolen by Are short-handed. Kaye right in rebound and Aria can’t tuck it under Hellabach. Was that close? Arma was so good in the neutral zone with his stick. There’s the play with a stick. Now watch this pass. When he zips it, he zips it over. I think Kee got himself in no man’s land. He was kind of doubting, should I make the big move across the crease or should I shoot it and the pad save there then get getting help from defenders. So John, we’ll talk about it. It’s now three shots on goal for the Kings and all three have been point blank high quality. Regardless, it’s still Winnipeg. Another break for the Kings. Keep Ar. And a shot off the clock bar by Kebe and now Arin backhander right on save by Hobach. Chances they’ve had and then post save. Jets up by one. and off the glass. He’s in play now. Clark good pass back and Edmonson slap pass to Clark shot just missed by inches. Anderson barely kept it in rap chance and a save by Halabuk center. Keep in the slot and now back to the line. Dowy defensively so very active break to start the game and teams at full strength underway here in the second period. periods, not counting overtime, and they’ve been short-handed 15 times. Here’s Kopitar in and a shot. Skate saved by Halibah. And now Kente supports on the wall. Kopitar and his longtime rival Taves. We talked about being in the open tonight. That’s belted back in by Clark. Keep after it. Here’s Kopitar at the line. Edmonson a drive right on rebound. Kopitar had an open side but couldn’t knock it by Helabach who may have poked it away. Yeah, Hellabach very good read there with a stick and now Anderson shoots and he scores. Mikey Anderson through a screen and the Kings have tied the game at one. So the chances have been there and then on a long shot that doesn’t look dangerous becomes dangerous because Helle did not see it. I’m not sure if he didn’t pick up the release or he just didn’t pick up the puck. But Hleuck was good early. Kopitar or he just didn’t pick up the puck. But Helle was good early. Kopitar’s in front. Yes, Kopitar waved his stick there too. Initially I was looking for a reaction from Kopi to see maybe if he touched that one. It looks like it’s a fluttering shot right from the get-go. I think he might have tipped that high high attempted shot blocker, but after that it could have got Kopitar too. Look out here in front. The Jets gets a chance. That was Baron now. Back for Moresy. He walks in. Right on. And a save by Keer on Morrisy. Yeah, really good quartecking period by Los Angeles. And the puck at the line. Kyle Connor gives it up. Now Kee chips it into the zone. Keno, what a pass. Kopitar. Kempe. He scores. What passing there and the Kings have taken a two to one lead. That play was lit. Wow. The speed of Kempe is the originator of the chance. Watch Kee right here. And then Kee right there. He keeps it alive. Watch this one. Oh my. I don’t know which pass was better. Kusenco to Kopitar or Kopitar to Kee. It’s just one of those things where everyone gets involved. I mentioned a couple of moments ago, John, right? Connected. These three guys are connected. They’re there to support. If one guy gets into trouble, the other guy’s there to bail him out to Arma. They’re driving. Put that high wide from the slot. Another point blank. Now, another point blank shot right on now again trying to offer lost his stick. Gets it back. King center by Field. And he was checked there by Baron. And now Shley marches ahead short-handed to the net and he scores. Another short-handed goal by the Jets and it’s 2-2. So the Kings could not be as clean as they wanted to. Shley’s right there. Drive to the net. Four guys on attack and the backhand actually I think goes off a kink. Is it the back checker? No, it’s Anderson. So the shot is really not that dangerous but it’s the recognition of the Winnipeg Jets when they had the puck carrier. We saw it on the goal there by Kempe. But that support turned into puck possession. That puck possession turned to an outstanding period for the Kings. And Kee a goal and one assist, three shots, seven attempts and three hits. And Kopitar to center gets by Morrisy out muscles it to the net backhander and it’s covered and a penalty called I believe Kopitar draws the minor two for hooking to make sure it’s going to happen right there and then right there. So just that position now the Kings wanted that puck they felt was alive. It was underneath the skate of Helleuk. There’s the hook into that body. But that body position by Kopitar just shows you that sometimes speed can be a factor but also strength and around now for can make him center it. Keep one timer. What a save by Hellache from last year carry over to this year. The Kings just find the open man. Hell makes one move and Morrisy around. There’s Shley chased by Cece and then Moresy again. Long shot. They score. Tipped I think by Shley. And the Jets a 32 lead. The Kings had a chance earlier to get it out. They could have maintained control. And then the second counterattack by the Jets was the issue. Watch this though. That shot might be going wide. Shley, he’s in behind and he gets position to get the stick on the puck and almost pull it back towards the net. Yes, it going way wide there. Dropped off by Turkot. Here comes Dumalain now. A shot by Lefair right on goal and a save by Helabuk. And then Gouty dust it off. Back shot. Will there some late game magic? No, it’s knocked away. And that’s going to do it. And the Jets will hold on and win their first of the season. 3-2 the final.
