Film Breakdown: The Miami Dolphins Run Defense was Atrocious vs Panthers

We’re back people and today we’re breaking down film on the Miami Dolphins defense verse the Carolina Panthers and was this one ugly. Uh especially run defense-wise pretty atrocious. Uh just all around hard to watch. The you know Dolphins gave up some big passes as well. You know I think guys like Brazil Douglas and Jack Jones after having some strong performances recently really you know fell back down and you know played quite bad. Dolphins kind of got lucky a little bit early with the turnovers that were created because they were more so just bad plays from the Panthers than maybe super impressive stuff uh for Miami. And then there’s certain players I’m going to talk about that I think need more playing time, certain players that I think need less playing time. Uh and we’ll get through all of those guys. And it was just bad run defense all around. I know you’ve seen the talk probably about Kenneth Grant. feel like he’s getting scapegoed a little bit because I mean, yeah, he’s playing bad, especially as a run defender, specifically against double teams, but man, it you’re going to see pretty much everyone get bullied in this game. You’re gonna see from Cer. Uh, basically the only defensive tackle that I’ve seen consistently have some sort of success against double teams is Jordan Phillips. So, I think Jordan Phillips, who’s playing around 30% of the snaps, should be playing a bit more. Like I don’t know why he’s, you know, I think he should be playing, you know, more definitely a lot more than like Bonito Jones, Matthew Butler. Uh, you know, maybe Grant get less run defense now, so more pass rush because he at least has shown, I think, a little bit as a push as a pass rusher. Um, and then other players like, you know, Jordan Brooks, I think, started a bit slow, but actually definitely finished strong. Uh, he made at least some good positive impact play. So, I got to Brooks credit there. Uh, I think Chop still needs to play more. I know he’s not playing perfect, but he had a couple pressures, a couple run stops, uh, and is still only playing about 30% of the snaps, which I think is just unacceptable, especially when you see how some of the other players are playing. You know, Chub got that recovery on the fumble, but other than that, didn’t do much. Phillips is playing solid. Both Phillips are playing solid, I would say. Uh, everyone else pretty bad. Tyrell Dodson, Tyrell Dodson had some real rough performance uh, in this one. It’s just really poor run defense all around and you’re going to see a lot of that. Uh and uh you know, you’ll see some struggles from Douglas and and Jack Jones in here. Uh specifically, I think Minka had a solid game. He got that picked. Didn’t really do you know anything bad outside of that. I would like to see more Dante Trader. You know, we’re looking at the defense now. We need these young guys to play. Like they the young guys need to be playing. We need to see what we got there. We need to try to develop them. Uh but yeah, specifically we can watch this. I the first play was actually a pretty solid uh run stop here and it basically comes down to Jordan Phillips taking on a double team. Does a really good job controlling his own and even though he gets his low hip attacked is still able to kind of reset, regain his balance, get control, stack, shed, just really good job there. Uh you know, Sealer doesn’t get pushed too much on this specific double team and it allows the linebackers to come up and at least help get involved cuz man, they had some you’re going to see some some rough plays later on. Uh but Panther found a lot of success is this deep corner route. You know, they attack Brazil Douglas in this area. You know, him not gaining a ton of depth maybe to, you know, fly downhill. They show him this flat route and then, you know, they end up going over the top to T McMillan and they get that deep completion to him. Uh they they attack that pretty early. Doesn’t end up, you know, mattering specifically in this play, but I think it matters later on when they complete that big one down the line. So, definitely something to keep an eye on. Okay. Then we get this play. This was very I just think the do the defense got pretty lucky. Like Bryce Young just fumbled. Like don’t get me wrong, Bradley Chub plays this well. You know, they get, you know, the zone read and they’re, you know, trying to get the RPO out of it. And Chub does a great job staying disciplined on the back end. Uh, you know, very good reading this. Would have got a probably a tackle for loss or maybe a sack there, but Bryce Young just literally loses it and Chub gets a free fumble. So, I do think they get lucky that that ends up being a turnover. Uh, but, you know, you take that. It’s the fact that they still couldn’t win this game is mind-blowing to me. I mean, obviously the offense had its downsides, too. And then, you know, but the defense overall, you just can’t give up 200 plus rushing yards. It’s unacceptable. Uh it’s really bad. And you’re going to start seeing those start to come up pretty soon. Uh you know, just going in in order. They get this pick next. This is just a bad play by Bryce Young. Like he feels the pressure from Chop here initially. chop around the edge, but there’s really not that much of an interior push at this point from like Bonito, Butler, Caler, Judon. Everyone else is pretty stonewalled. They’re getting double team. They’re doing play action. So, Bryce Young does have room to step up. Like, you know, Chop does a decent enough job here making him at least move off his spot, but Bryce Young takes way too many unnecessary steps. And now he’s not able to step into it. And that leads to the ball floating and gets Minka an interception cuz he has a chance to complete this. I think, you know, Dodson does a good job at least getting depth, but he could still potentially complete that to Legette and then Ma makes a nice play, gets that interception. Uh, you know, pretty solid job there for Minka. Tough play for Minka cuz you can tell Ma’s ready to break down on this and go to hit Legette, but he sees like late like, oh, it’s going to go over him and I go for the late catch. That’s, you know, not easy. Shows off some ball skills. Um, and then this is where the the run gashes start to come. Uh, and this one’s actually not too badly played up front by the the front like four, front five, the D line because like Sealer’s kind of holding his own. He’s got his gap responsibility, you know, Phillips off on the edge. He probably gets widened a little bit too much. Uh, Jordan Phillips is taking on a double team. I actually think he does a good job holding his own at the point of attack, you know. Uh, and then there’s this side, which is fine. You know, Grant gets moved a little bit, but doesn’t matter in this specific situation. He actually gets moved towards the play. I don’t know what Dodson’s doing. Like Dodson for some reason is like because he’s got a gap here. Sealer got C gap. He sees Phillips get moved a little bit and thinks now Phillips is going to go to this B gap and for some reason just purposefully takes on the center. Uh instead of you know staying patient or just kind of filling up into this gap working off this block like he has no reason to try to peel back to this like where Grant and Brooks are positioned on the back side. He just takes himself out of the play basically gets engaged and now Rico D has a huge hole to hit through because he doesn’t fill correctly. Uh I mean this is actually a good play from Dante Trader coming up to Phil and actually limiting this because as you saw on these runs a lot of DBs after this did miss tackles and allowed even bigger plays. So at least Trader limited to that to not be a huge gain. I actually wouldn’t I want I would like to see more Trader just because we need to see young guys play and I do think he’s at least done some positive stuff that I think you can maybe build upon. Um, but yeah, that’s was kind of the start of it. Here’s another one. I think this play is kind of on Caler. Uh, they kind of bump into each other. Uh, Phillips and Caler. But this specifically comes down to this is where they’re going. They’re pulling here, down blocking here. And Caler just gets pretty much moved out by the down blocker and the only one to really have a chance. Jordan Brooks does get blocked by the Titans. So, he had Phillips has to take on the the Polar, drop his pad level. They do end up having some success versus this exact concept later on where Brooks plays it better. The edge ends up playing this better in specific spots. I think Brooks gets a little bit caught off guard. Uh and then now D was able to basically accelerate through. I mean, good play call. Got to give him credit. Um here was a missed opportunity especially, you know, for for the Dolphins cuz this was fourth down. They actually get a really good uh twist up front if you watch this. Phillips gets the interior pressure like so. Grant is the crasher. Grant crashes and creates space. So, actually a really good job by Grant crashing down here, taking two, allowing Phillips to scoop to the inside. Now, Bryce Young is able to escape. Uh, you know, maybe you want to see Grant hold the outside a little bit better, but it is a tough spot to be in. So, Bryce Young escapes now. Still in the spot. You’re not in a bad area. People are covered. You got people flying downhill. Now, I think this play right from this point, Bradley Chub takes a bad angle cuz you have I think this is Armstrong. You have Armstrong coming downhill. He’s taking the outside. He’s not going to allow him to get to the edge. So Chub, I guess, just doesn’t know that he has help there. He doesn’t feel it. He doesn’t see it at all. So he just takes too wide of an angle. Now Bryson’s able to reset, avoid just enough, and then deliver a great throw. You got to give Bryce credit. I mean, great play from him. But I do think Chub takes a horrible angle and now like you’re asking, you know, uh, because initially it’s Armstrong, but Trader takes him. They pass it off. Trader actually does a great job cuz they’re running man match. So once he takes an inside release, Trader actually becomes manto man on him and then he becomes the robber. So they pass it off. Actually, he’s played really well. Trader is not in a bad spot. And then he just gets a great completion late to McMillan. McMillan makes an insane catch uh low and away like that. So I mean the percentage chance this gets converted is actually very low. It’s just one of those plays that, you know, you look back and it kind of comes on you because, you know, they get points out of this drive because they convert a fourth down. Here’s another example where the Dolphins do kind of try to take advant advantage of the counter and the power. They try to pull the left guard to get to the edge. Chop actually makes a really good run play. Chop actually had a really good right here. He had a run stop before this and then he had another run stop. So he backto-back run stops and then he had a good pressure. So it was a really good sequence from Chop. Um would like to see, you know, him get more opportunities because I I do still believe in Chop quite heavily on this team. Like I don’t think that Alvin have a lot of crazy high talented players. I do think Chop is one of them. Uh, I just don’t know why he’s not getting chances cuz he actually was like I know that you know people are worried about his run defense. He’s not going to be a special run defender. That’s never going to be his game. But he had two run stops in this game when you probably only had like four total. So, he had like half of them. Um, but yeah, I just wanted to show this. As you can see, like look at Butler getting absolutely bullied by a double team. Uh, you know, they actually were going to fill it up a bit better this time on the back end. The linebacker play has not been super good, but at least Mink is there. But they do end up finishing with a touchdown. Jack Jones gets beat. It was a really rough game from Jack Jones. Uh, you know, holding galore. But they get this. Uh, they actually had, you know, the other stuff covered up decent enough, I guess. You know, McMillan probably would have been open. But Bryce Young makes a good throw. Xavier Lette makes the touchdown, makes a nice catch, and they get points out of, you know, a drive where you could have got a stop on fourth and five at least cuz you did play it pretty well initially. Um, then here’s a big run. Uh, actually, funnily enough, this is a big run. I mean, you got to learn how to tackle. Uh, where this is actually probably the best Grant plays the run versus a double team all game, and it’s probably the one gash they had against him cuz all the other like there’s other clips where Grant gets pushed back like big chunks. There was twice this game where he got pushed back like a lot. But on those plays, they actually stopped the run for like three and two yard gains. So, it actually was funny that, you know, this is like the one time they actually ran at him. So, I know he didn’t play as much and I know he got blamed a lot, but this is really the only run I think where it actually was a big run towards his direction and he actually plays the double team pretty well. He holds his gap. Um, he needs to finish right here for sure. I would like to see him finish. Um, but if he doesn’t finish here, like Jordan Brooks needs to still finish this tackle. Ashton Davis needs to finish this tackle. Like, this should still not go for 20 plus. Like, this it’s unacceptable that this goes for 20 plus. that he goes through that arm tackle, that arm tackle, that arm tackle, and then, you know, carries Minka for some extra yard. It’s just really poor run defense all around. Um, it’s it’s funny because that was probably one of the better reps Grant had versus run, at least when like going specifically versus the old lineman. Like he actually didn’t get pushed back there. Held his own, held his gap, just didn’t wasn’t able quite to finish. But that play is just unacceptable going for 20 from pretty much everyone. Then they’re getting big gashes. So they kind of catch the Dolphins kind of stunting down. So since they have Willie Gay here out the force defender, Jaylen Phillips has the ability to knife to the inside. And since that happens, he gets, you know, uh they run pin pole, so he gets pinned. They have the perfect play call for Phillips trying to, you know, knife to the inside a little bit. He gets pinned out. Uh Willie Gay probably gets a little too wide becoming the force defender. Jordan Phillips actually plays it pretty well. He doesn’t really get cut off. He actually creates some push into the back field. It’s just no one else is there to make like no one else is even close. You know, Jordan Brooks is out with the motion. So, it pretty much leaves Dyrell Dodson trying to uh beat some offensive linemen out in space and he’s not able quite to do that. I mean, I don’t really blame Dodson too much for this one. It’s just they had a perfect call and you know, it wasn’t really effectively done from the outside and they get a big gash play but just poor. H it’s hard to watch. Had to show this one cuz this is how you actually stop the run. This is the same concept. Like I’m saying, down block, pull the left guard, tight end immediately goes to Brooks. You see how Brooks adjusts. Look at Brooks on this play. 20. Look at him fly downhill and just play with violence. Need to see that from everyone on a more consistent basis cuz it’s just a better job. Sealer does a great job beating the double team. Phillips throws his body to constrict the run lane there on the edge. Uh, you know, force it back to the inside. You know, people are holding up constricted. No one’s getting bullied around. That’s how you play the run. Can they do that consistently? Who knows? Uh, that’s, you know, something for sure. And then you get a stop after that. You get a sack. You force him to a field goal. Jaylen Phillips does a really good job setting this up to the outside. As I’ve said, Jaylen Phillips has been your best pass rusher. Uh, hits the arm over. Really clean win. I still think Phillips is a good player. Um, and probably been one of your better defenders, I think, all season long. You know, that’s not saying much, but it is true. Um, and then you get some stops. The Dolphins defense did start to get a few stops here. This is a third down. They’re down in like short I believe pretty manageable. Uh they do a you know they don’t get a great rush here just bringing forward but they actually do a pretty good job in coverage on the back end and they at least constrict it pretty nicely. So Bryce Young tries to escape. Uh Grant and Phillips kind of slow him down initially and then Brooks actually goes after him. And funnily enough, I know Grant hadn’t had any like sacks or anything. Grant does get credited for half a sack there, which I think is funny that he he got half a sack in this game, uh, with, you know, he definitely had a rough one, not a good game. U, but I’m not going to throw all the blame on him because it’s it’s everyone. It’s it’s Grant needs to play better. I mean, I’m just watching everyone get bullied by Double Team. It’s like poor technique all around. Uh, so hopefully that can fix. I think it’s just the thing with Grant is like I have higher hopes of it being fixed than maybe some of the other players because you know Grant is 21 and it’s his fifth NFL game and sometimes DTackles take a little bit to develop. So I do think there, you know, there’s still potential there, but damn. And then they, you know, they get a stop on the next drive. They do a great uh stunt here. They bring Brooks downhill. He just throws himself into the running back into the O lineman. Like you might think like why isn’t Brooks just running after Bryce Young? He actually has a free lane. It’s not his job. He’s here to create for Zack Cer. He gets a free lane for sealer. Force him to the outside. Judo does a good job at least containing. Uh, you know, they drop Chop into coverage. Uh, but they do a good job. They get another stop there. So, they did have a couple stops in a row. Give them credit for that. But like to me, that just doesn’t really matter when you’re getting gashed by 200 for from one runner. And it’s Rico Dado. Rico Dado was not having a good season. He was averaging under three yards per carry going into this one. So, like it’s hard to give credit when you know it’s it’s that stuff. And then you go here. Um, they weren’t playing Grant as much. I know I you know he kind of got I mean not really benched like because he kept he did come play but he wasn’t playing as much but that didn’t really change anything that’s because you know you got stuff like this you got Bonito and Zack Cer getting double team. Look at Cer on this play. I mean Cer had his moments had good plays but he’s still getting having plays like this. Look at him getting pushed back five yards as well. And then you got Bonito up front who doesn’t do a horrible job. Like he gets pushed back a little bit but he actually fights off of it late but he doesn’t have the athleticism to recover and shoots through. Uh, and then you got KJ Britt gets up because uh, you know, KJ Brit’s in the game now because Dodson’s out. He’s kind of the one with the only chance, but Bonito since Bonito has to make this play here because right uh, tackle comes off late to block Ashton Davis. Ashton Davis kind of fills in his hole. He does a good job. This is not bad. Uh, and then the right guard who’s also blocking Bonito then goes up to KJ Brit who comes in to fill. So, Bonito, who now is left unblocked late, has to make a play. He has to be able to at least slow him down. Cuz if he slows him down, then maybe Chub can make a play in pursuit, but now he’s too late. Bonito’s not able to get there. Uh because the guys who were blocking him went to block the other ones and now he gets a big gash. Uh he breaks the tackle of Jack Jones and Melofanu because they’re trying, you know, Melanu is diving at the legs and Jack Jones is going for the punch out. Uh so Dattle gets extra yards as well and just continues. Uh, this is the one you probably want back from Chop because, you know, I think Chop had good moments and here he does a good job staying disciplined on the back end. He does a good job getting after Bryce Young, but they call the hip drop tackle. Um, which also kind of sucks cuz I feel like they’ve added this rule and how many times it actually been called? Like five total times. I swear to God, it’s like they actually called on Miami when this thing never gets called. And I will give Chop a little bit of a benefit cuz like what is he supposed to do here? Because if he goes through Bryce Young and lands on him, then it’s full body weight, you know? Um, and it’s not like he hit him late or anything like he hits him right as he throws it. So, it’s not like a late hit. It’s just like what is he supposed to do? Just I guess somehow let go, but he’s trying not to land on top of him. So, he kind of hip drops him. It’s a tough situation to be in, but that is another play that definitely hurts you. And then you get difficult Jack Jones holding down the the red area. Uh cuz Dolphins, you know, actually had some decent here cuz they they go play action, they block, you actually get some wins like Kenneth Grant gets a win. Uh I think KJ Brit actually is getting some late pressure like they’re and you know the coverage on the back end isn’t horrible. They’re in a good spot here. I actually like there’s a man match if you watch like this. I like this what they’re doing. Man match. He breaks the inside. Pass it off to Minka. Now if he brought broke to the inside, he was there to help double McMillan. That’s why this is such a bad play from Jack Jones because he has helped to the inside. So, he just needs to maintain his outside leverage, holds, gets a penalty. That’s a big one cuz, you know, you might be able to hold him to a field goal if you get that stop. And you actually, you know, not a bad rep there, Kenneth Grant. I It’s weird watching Kenneth Grant play cuz he gets pushed a lot in the run game, but when he is playing downhill as a pass rusher, you see him create some push. Like, that’s why like I think it’s mostly a technique issue in the run game cuz uh I think he’s a one gapper truly. And I think they have him trying to play as a two gap or one and a half gapper. And I just and I know that’s like your you think you look at his body type and that would be his game, but I really don’t. I think he’s more of a at his best penetrating. So I wonder if that would help if they switch that up. Um and then they get the touchdown. Uh mainly, you know, I mean nothing to right. I mean they get down to the one yard line and Matthew Butler just gets pushed off the ball. He gets down blocked. Jordan Phillips and Bonito actually create some penetration. It’s just unfortunately it’s going right here and Matthew Butler goes downhill. Uh Bradley Chub tries to make a play. It’s not a bad rep from him to get inside there and at least slow him down, but D just gets into the end zone. It’s mainly because Butler gets completely dug out here uh on this down block by 79 put on the ground. Um and then yeah, that’s kind of the game. Here’s another one. You know, another big run kind of on Zack Cer getting completely wiped down. He also gets called for defensive holding here. Uh also, I don’t think this is the best rep from Jordan Brooks. Shan Rick just had an up and down game. He had some good reps, some bad reps. Uh I just gave him some credit because some players didn’t even have good reps. Um and then Jaylen Phillips on the back end is kind of accounting for for the potential play action boot. Uh this has got to be a better up front here. So like Phillips at least has a chance to make a play, but they’re so washed down that they get a big run. Uh and yeah, another big run. Great credit to Bryce Young here. Also another play in Brazil Douglas cuz they, this is what I’m talking about earlier, they attacked the whole shots all day long. I mean, not all day long, but they attacked it a few times and they were successful when they did it. Great throw from Bryce because they actually get a pressure. They get Melofono unblocked. Pressure in his face. He delivers. But Rul Douglas has got to gain depth cuz at least on the earlier one there was a threat down in the flat. So Rosil Douglas had to, you know, potentially play both routes here. Douglas has no reason to not be getting dubs and they just go directly over the top of him and they get a big play and then Douglas again, another bad play. This was a fourth down. This was another This was kind of the game. This is a gamedefining play cuz you get the stop here. You’re still up four. So you’re still up four which means you know they’re not going for you. So they’re not they’re not kicking a field goal. So you’re going to still be up four and there’s about 3 minutes left. So they do have a time they do have their timeouts. They can get the ball back but it puts them in a much tougher situation. And if the Dolphins offense is able to get like a first down, then the game’s over. Like it gives you such a higher percentage chance to win if you get the stop. It’s just the Dolphins didn’t get the fourth down stops. And Brazil Douglas getting cooked like this by Jimmy Horn. Like as I said, Rosa Douglas not a man-to-man corner. He was playing well uh so far for the Dolphins. Manto man, he gets cooked by Jimmy Horn. He actually also gets called for holding. It doesn’t even matter. Uh he gets beat uh to the outside 101. It’s funny because before this play he was like literally you could see like he it looked like he was yelling at Minka to get on 87 as well. Like he was yelling at him to get on that guy. Maybe should have kept it. Douglas maybe would have been a bit better cuz I think Minka might have played it uh better versus Jimmy Horn. And then they end up just scoring. I mean once they got to this point it was over. I mean I already knew they were scoring. First and goal they get the ball to Mitchell Evans. KJ Brit’s not a cover linebacker. They kind of pass this off. They go mesh. Jordan Brooks takes 87. 84 underneath. KJ Britz just gained way too much depth and he’s late to get to it. I mean, I’m not expecting him to make a play there. And then that’s when they they take the lead. Um, and they actually get some decent rusher like Matthew Butler is able to get up field at him. Uh, it’s just not played well in the back end. Then the game’s over here. They might be able to get the ball back. Maybe there’s enough time if they have some big chunk plays to get in field goal range. Um, and then Jack Jones, pretty classic that they ended on him getting a PI, him holding unnecessarily. because it didn’t really need to be held. And that sort of ends it. Just nothing really to break down there. But man, the defense, specifically the run defense, has been bad. Like really bad the past three weeks cuz first week it actually wasn’t that bad. Second week it was it was worse than the first week, but it still wasn’t like horrible horrible like this. Then they got to the Bills game. This game, the Bills game, the Jets game, it’s been like really really really really bad. Um, and I don’t think it should be like I I think it falls on the players, but I think it also definitely falls on coaching. Like I like I still think talented enough to at least be average as a run defense. Like I would I’m not expecting him to be like great or anything, but like like at least like you can’t be getting gashed like this. It makes no sense to me. At least compared to last year cuz like last year’s front compared to this year’s front, it’s not that much different. It really isn’t. And last year’s front was pretty good at run defense. I mean, the major difference was Cla, but like Clayas was still playing like half the snaps. Um, so maybe Clayas was just the the leader, but I just felt like everyone else was playing better around. Uh, yeah. I don’t know. Hard to watch, hard to explain. Hopefully, we can see the young I mean, pretty much what I’m hoping for at this point of the season, seeing the young guys improve. I mean, I’m still rooting for wins, obviously. It’s just And there’s definitely winnable games left on the schedule. I mean, I I you’ve seen it. The Dolphins have actually started one one and four before and actually made the playoffs. So, it’s not like it’s impossible, but I’m not going to, you know, put any money on that or, you know, bet on that to happen. So, but yeah, if you guys enjoy the video, like, comment, and subscribe. And I’ll see next time.

  1. That was the best part of this game fr. When Bradley Chubb said "gimme the ball or I'll lay you out" Bryce young was like "ok pls don't hurt me Mr Chubb sir". Literally mugged him for the ball.

  2. One analyst said a sign of a good defense is their good tackling ability so likewise, a sign of a poor defense is also their ability to tackle where the Phins tackling skill is less than college level. They make average opposing QB’s and offenses have great games. Might be time for DC coaching change. Fire the OL coach while you at it.

  3. Ryder, I can't believe that Coach Weaver is doing so bad with his unit. Or, is it not only Coach Weaver but his Dline and LB coaches too? K Grant looks bad. I will still hold out he has to get use to the game. Yet, we are not seeing any flashes. I wonder where he ranks at, of all the 2025 First Round rookies, at his position. And with the 2025 NFL draft being a DT heavy draft, WHO are the other DTs that maybe having a better season than K Grant.

Ryder, I just can't believe that Chop Robinson bloomed as the season goes on. Credit that to Coach Weaver and/or the LB/pass rushing coach. I so hope K Grant starts to show flashes soon. I know with Derrick Brown, DT (Panthers), he didn't start to get noticed until the end of his rookie year/his second year.

  4. Guys just aren’t playing with enough heart. It’s so obvious. Look how many times defensive players have stopped trying before the whistle is blown. Tired of watching guys fall down and you can see them just waiting for the whistle to stand back up. Tired of seeing guys on the backside of runs slow down and fall into a block thinking the running back isn’t going to make it to the corner. I could keep giving more examples. Just quitting on a play when the ball doesn’t go your way or you lose your initial assignment is just unacceptable. Need guys that love the game and will strain for it on every play.

  5. Ryder what are your thoughts about the defensive play call at the 10:02 mark?

I was confused by this live. The Dolphins had four defenders on the two receiver side and only three defenders to the trips side. Confused to as to why we wouldn’t want the safety in a position to get over there and help on one of the routes

  6. Brooks and Dodson are the worst linebackers I seen In Dolphin uniforms the are weak too small and can't even tackle. The defensive front scheme needs to be scrapped. Our front 6 is tiny. Chop needs to be traded go back to the 4-3,get rid of those 220 lb line backers. This is a joke

  7. You let me know when you’re ready to acknowledge that the draft and roster was/is a disaster. Grant getting thrown out the club and being blasted 10 yards off the LOS is not what you want to see out of your first round pick at DT. Kids a bust waiting to happen.
Love your attention to detail with the tape, but not gonna take you seriously if you’re just gonna be a homer. The Doomers are more in touch with reality these days lol.

  8. Seems like lots of Miami's problems come down to coaching. How someone hasn't been fired is mind blowing, At the very least our D-line coach needs to be rocketed into the sun for this malpractice.

  9. No pressure — they should throw away their ineffective zone plays, instead pack the line and play man to man
It may be better than this lazy zone that they are playing – they seem always out of place

  10. Wasn't it announced by Weaver the week leading up to the Panthers game that he was going to shake things up, alter some of his defensive concepts and be more aggressive? Not a total loss. We learned some things that definitely don't work. Weaver, move Phillips to ILB and make him your personal pet project. He won't hold up on the edge. Move him off the ball and drill it into his head that with his size, speed, athleticism, motor and tenaciousness he can be in on every play, really disrupt an opponent's entire offense, become an enforcer against the run and in short yardage situations, be a terror versus the screen game and still get double digit sacks blitzing from anywhere and everywhere.
Let's lay off the defense a bit. Our secret weapon, Channing Tindall, still isn't 100% healthy and we all know how fast he can run in a straight line for 40 yards. That's an additional 2-3 tackles a game under 10 yards, right there.

  11. Weaver has the MLB's cover the side line, the entire sideline, and they have to start from their run responsibility. I feel bad for them. Can't even get Britt or Gay Jr in because, no way. Their OL manhandled our front. It was their offense verse our MLB's and they knew it. Everyone has had our number
