MASSIVE Bey Leap Incoming…

A massive leap is incoming for not one but two Pelicans players this upcoming season as the Pels wrap up their time in Australia with a big win. We’re going to talk about who those two players are and also give you an update on what’s going on with Jose Alvarado inside this edition of Pelicans Digest. What’s good with it y’all? It’s your Mel on the mic talking about them once again here inside Pelicans Digest and uh thank you so much for subscribing man. The numbers are going up. Big shout out to all the folks out there in Australia down under who are now tuning in and subscribing Americans Digest. Thank y’all so much. And man, came out uh and looked like a team that watched the tape from their first game in Australia, made some adjustments, and came out looked like they were supposed to look like. And if you’re a Bellicus fan, you should be very happy at how this team looked against uh Southeast Melbourne Phoenix uh last night. I mean, look, it wasn’t NBA competition, but scoring 127 points from this New Orleans Pelican squad, you got to love it, baby. I know I do. Pells win 127 to 92 and and it was a big night with a player that I did a video on just three or four days ago trying to tell y’all before Australia even started about this one player that was the perfect sighting for the Pelicans, the perfect pickup and a lot of people thought was just a throwin with the joint pool trade from Washington. And I’m talking about Sadique Bay. It was a massive night with Sadique Bay. Uh scoring 21 points in 21 minutes and also having six rebounds in that game, man. Crazy night. It was great to see somebody in the wing position. Set out there, stroke these threes all night long. Get get up and down the floor on defense, get some rebounds. You got to love it, man. It was a big night for Sadique Bay. Uh he was outstanding. 21 points in 21 minutes, including seven uh team points in the first half. Bay was six of nine from the field, including four six from three-point range. And Bay added six rebounds and three assists and looks completely healthy. Something I said in the video a couple days ago. You can go and check it out now. You won’t scroll back and look. This is why I was trying to tell y’all we be calling the shots over here. I was trying to tell y’all that Sadique Bay is going to be something special this season. coming off an ACL injury, hungry to get back into the game. You got to remember this guy once scored 50 uh 51 I think 51 52 on the night when he was with Detroit before his injury. He’s he’s fully healthy. He looks even bigger than before, but yet still has an amazing three-point shot. And it this is go that’s going to be super important coming up and especially in certain plays when you saw in the game uh uh last night that when you when you roll a screen or roll a pick and you see the defense crashing in on Zion, Zion has Bay right there ready to shoot that three, ready to stroke it, ready to go. It was fabulous to see. Lots of lots of great ball motion and and screen and picking action with with Looney and Pool. Like you got to feel good if you’re a Bellicus fan. But I try to tell y’all about Sadique Bay, man. I tried to tell y’all. I tried to tell y’all. Pardon me is my bel my Bells Wy act up. Uh but uh another great night also uh for this young man, Jeremiah Fierce. He came back after struggling the first night on Friday night. Uh in the first game looked a little indecisive. Looked like he was uh a little too excited to be out there. In this game, he started slowed down. You saw much better patience. You also saw him uh taking better three-point shots. You saw him be more comfortable. And that’s great to see uh with Jeremiah. And that’s why I was saying before, he’s going to be just fine. Just give him time to develop. He’s not starter ready, but he did show last night that he’s capable of filling in a starting role if the if the situation present itself. Also, we saw Bru shooting from not only him, but also Jordan Hawkins and Jordan Pool. Jordan Pool had 15 points. Hawkins scored 14 points. Uh Fears had 12 and three assists. And E Missy came by and was beasting as well. Had 10 points and six rebounds, including four slam dunks as he ran the floor well. Uh Carla Makavik finished with nine points including three dunks in the second quarter. And that’s the second player that I want to discuss that’s going to make a massive leap this season is Carlo Makavik. We have been been keeping Carlo ducked off for the last two or three seasons now. We’ve been keeping him ducked off and if you’re a fan of this team, you know what Carlo is capable of. You’ve been rooting for him to get more action in the game. He got in the game more last season uh during the injury season, should I say. We’re just going to call that the injury season. Uh he was able to get in and average at least 10 points and put in some quality minutes. But in this game, while he didn’t have a lot of eye popping numbers, like he only had like nine points, couple of rebounds in his time though, you saw him active all over the floor. He was active, running, getting in front of plays, running with the pace, running with a fast pace, which is something Willie Green and him at breach and was and that was very helpful in the in this in the Pel’s dominant win in this game and because he was getting down the court quickly. Whenever there was some transition, Cara was down there. If there was transition, Carlo was already taking off, headed down the court. You love to see that. There was no time wasted, no trying to figure out what I’m going to do next. I’m getting down the court and that’s going to be very beneficial especially uh if he’s going to be on the second line and that’s something I also want to want to come back to as well and I I’ll get into that in a minute because that’s going to be a situation as far as the front court of the Pelicans. You have a good problem if you have the front court of the Pelicans. You have a really good front court now. We we really do. You got you got Sadique Bay. You got Kan Looney again, one of the premier re models of the game. You got Zion Williamson. Then you got backup with Eve and Carlo and and wherever you want to put the wings at because you can you can also put like I said, you can throw Herb in there if you want to from time to time. And that’s going to be a good problem with the Pelicans to have because now the good problem for for Willie Green is damn who I’m going to go with on starting night. And Sadique Bay is stroking it like this. Her might have to come off the bench so we can have some defensive presence or vice versa or just depending on the matchup you have that night. But I see, man, he taking a massive leap this season if he if they want to put him in that starting ro. And if you and like I said, if you saw that game last night, if you saw how offensively the Bells were stroking the basket last night and was making it making it rain, shot over 56% from the field, 64 points in the paint. Again, 64 points in the paint. Front court, that front court, your front court is ready if you’re the Pelicans. 56% from the field, 33 assists overall in the game, which is where kind of the Pelicans average is for this for this team. You got to feel good, man. Go after watching that game. Now, we’ll see what happens when they get into Birmingham in a couple of weeks, uh, where they actually play some NBA competition. They’re going up against the Rockets, which I think is the team that’s going to give us the most problems in the Western Conference this season. But I’m also starting to rethink that and I’m gonna get into that another time. I’m getting lost into a tangent. I’m getting unfocused. I’m getting unfocused. But at the end of the day, averaging, you saw this team average about 35 to 40 points a quarter last night and and that was dominant. That was like phenomenal to see. So the question I have is you have so many good problems to have with your Pelicans right now. You’re going as you fly back to Australia as you watch this game film and you’re watching like damn what damn this is a good problem to have. We we really are kind of stacked at this point. So I’m just I’m just trying to tell y’all what’s really good, man. It was a great game to watch last night overall from start to finish. All right. But the only problem now, there is one problem and you saw it, I saw it last night, is the situation with Joseé Alvarado. Uh, apparently Jose went down and is dealing with a uh right knee injury. And that’s concerning. That’s concerning. That is very concerning. And you know, this is the this is like what the second time we’ve seen Jose on the floor this summer. Because again, if you look back at that first game, and the reason why uh Jose played so many minutes in that first game is because Jose’s probably the only player on this team besides E Missy who actually kept playing all summer long. If you recall, uh Jose was playing uh for Puerto Rico most of the summer. Uh and he went down in the injury in the game playing with them. So, this is concerning if you’re a Jose Alvarado fan like I am because again that first game he was playing lights out, not lights out as far as scoring and everything, just being all over the floor, active, doing what he always does. But I think that summer in this summer has taken his toll on him. And I think if you’re the Pelicans, you need to consider sitting Jose down getting into the start of the season to see where he’s at. I don’t know how bad the injury is. There’s no reports on how bad the injury is. Uh uh but he was able to walk off the floor on his own power. And we know Jose is tough, but Jose is also 27 years old. He’s like the second or third oldest player on this team. And it’s hard to come back from those injuries the older you are. So my concern is again with Jose understanding that that room is already stacked. That guard room is already stacked up. You got the you got B, you got Murray, you got B, you got Hawkins, you got Trey, you you got, you know that your your spot is dwindling away. Can’t really afford an injury right now. Can’t really afford that right now. So, if you’re Jose and you’re the Pelicans, you got to take it easy with them going into the starter. Say, you got a couple of weeks. I wouldn’t even say I wouldn’t even say hold him out the first couple of games, but I would say let him get some time to get fully a thousand% right going into the season if you plan on keeping him. That’s if you plan on keeping him. And it’s going to be up to Jose, too. You know, and I know Jose’s going to work hard and get back on the floor. Uh but that is concerning to me. I’m not concerned about the Trey Murphy and Herb Jones injuries that were reported before the game because again if if if Trey and Jose look if Trey and Herb woke up this morning and said, “Damn, my foot got a little ache in it.” Man, sit down. We ain’t no We got 80 gangs to worry about. We ain’t worried about this little Australia situation. Go sit down. And so if I heard if if you’re in the Pelican’s training room and you heard them say or at any point during this trip, those two need to go sit down. We we this is exhibition. They hit Zion. Let Zion go work that out. These two and like I keep telling you, this is a further understanding and commitment that Herb and Trey are going to be the focus of this franchise. Okay? So no, I I have no problem with them not playing at all. I’ve seen a whole lot of comments on social media talking about, “Oh, the bell’s already in mid-season form cuz Herman and Trey, listen, I I don’t think they were injured at all.” I think they was like, “You know what? If you if you even feel soreness, your muscles ache a little bit, damn this Australia game, we got to sit y’all down. We got 80 games to worry about with y’all, too. So, don’t panic on that. Don’t panic on that and pay that no mind. I’m just telling y’all.” Uh, but what are your thoughts, though? I need to know your thoughts on Sadique Bay and Herb Jones and this situation with those two. Do you think Willie Green has a good problem on his hands as far as who do you start on over the night seeing that you saw Sadique Bay get you 21 in 21 minutes? All respect due to Herb. Her herb her all respect due to Herb, you know, but Sadique Bay came out there and give you all these minutes and these points. What are you thinking on starting on opening night? Does Sadique May get the start or Herb get the start? What are your thoughts on this? Also, your thoughts on Carla Makavic and Jos Alvarado and everything else that’s going on on what you saw at the Australia games. You’re part of the se nearly 50 to 70% that haven’t subscribed yet.
