Carson Wentz Talks About Playing Through Injury, Vikings Game-Winning Drive Late vs. Browns
Uh if I can start off um those two sacks that that you got on you and the third and fourth quarter, did that really anger you coming down the home stretch or your experience to say right and this is not how Carson W is going to finish out this game? Yeah, I mean anytime you know you walk off the field punting the ball again um frustrated um especially given opportunities um defense was stepping up late in the game like that and um we had a couple chances and just didn’t finish um the way we wanted to. But I’m glad we got that that last chance down the down the end there. Um, and guys made plays to get it done. Carson, were you worried you weren’t going to be able to come back in the game or what was going through your head? Yeah, anytime you go in to evaluate things. You never really know the the outcome and so, um, yeah, um, I thought the medical staff was awesome to to work with and get back out there and, um, glad I was able to. Can you walk us through that final throw, Jordan, from your vantage point? Yeah, first of all, he’s a he’s a stud. Um, you know, Justin Jefferson is as good as it gets and gets all the recognition, but Jordan Addison has been nothing but a baller since I’ve seen him live, you know, these last couple weeks. And um, you know, it was one of those, it’s just a simple simple route, simple concept, but he was he saw the coverage and converted his route and um, the ball had to come out. You know, I wasn’t going to take a sack in that situation given where we are on the field. So, I just tried to put it high and give him a chance and he made a heck of a play. What do you think of the offensive line today? I’m so proud of those guys. I mean, for guys to do what they did today, um, in a unique week over here all week, you know, we were down coming into the game, we were down a handful of guys, you know, Blake Brindle starting first game at center, Joe Huber starting for the first time ever, Justin School starting at right tackle, then flipping to left tackle against arguably, you know, one of the best defensive ends in the world. You know, those things are not easy to do. And for them to keep fighting, keep battling, you know, guys made mistakes. That happens. I made mistakes. Um, but the way they battled and kept fighting, I’m so proud of those guys. Carson, how are your nerves in the Brown final drive? Say that again. How are your nerves during the final Brown’s drive? Great. Great. You know, it was one of those things. Um there’s so much going on. You’re you’re doing everything you can to just stay in the moment and stay focused and um we were able to get it done and that makes that flight a lot more bearable back home. Uh going home with at least a win today. Uh Kevin Oonnell has preached about like situational masters making sure that you got command of the situation which was kind of an issue last week because of the play clock whatever was going on with that. This week it seemed like there was some trouble with the down and distance markers. I had no idea what was going on there but did that maybe complicate things as you were setting up for those final drives? No, I mean there’s there’s things within every game that you can point out that maybe were weird or off or you know all those things and so um that didn’t I don’t think have any factor today. Um, again, I thought guys, when you talk about situational masters, to to get it done the way we did, defense to get a huge stop and get us that opportunity, um, and offense to just make those plays down the stretch the way they did, um, it was a lot of fun. You talked about Jordan, but just what did Justin mean to you today in the offensive? Yeah, I mean, Justin’s as good as it gets. Um, been watching him for years from afar, so pretty fun to get a front row seat. You know, we missed a couple today. Um, I missed a couple. Um, gave him some chances, you know, won a couple back. Um, but you know, he’s so good. I’m just going to keep giving him those chances. And we talked about things on the sideline. Uh, made sure we were on the same page. And I mean, he, like I said, I can’t say enough good things about him, not only as a receiver, but as a leader for this team, the way he goes about his business, his the his work ethic. Um, you know, a couple weeks ago, his catch run after tackle, breaking tackles, all the things. I mean, he does so many things at a at a high high level. Uh, I can’t say enough good things about him. Carson, you’ve played with some good receivers, but I don’t think anyone’s in that sort of like echelon of where Justin is. What’s he like to throw to? He’s different. He’s different. Um I’m still finding out every week. I’m not going to lie. Um you know, couple high balls down the field today. Just giving him a chance and his ability to go up and um obviously at times go up and over guys, but just in traffic to go high point a ball um gives a quarterback the utmost confidence to just let it rip, honestly. And um like I said, he’s different. He’s fun to play with and um can’t say enough good things. What has it been like navigating these games specifically today obviously with Kevin just given all ups and down? Yeah. Um you know, I just I love his demeanor and the headset. like he’s just still calm and just calling plays and helping me kind of get locked in on what what what the task at hand is, you know, and I think he’s he’s done a good job of understanding where we’re at as a team, who’s in there, all the things, who we’re up against, you know, formating and game planning. Um, you know, they work their tails off and making sure we have we come to the stadium every single week with the best game plan we can have. And, uh, I thought they did a good job of that today. And speaking of game plans, you obviously went up against the Steelers and their defensive front last week. you come up against another great defense today with the Browns. How much did that Steelers game last week help you prepare for what you face today? Yeah, I mean that’s a great They were a great defense today, another great defense. Different, you know, different schemes and different things over there um between the two defenses, but both, you know, great fronts and um yeah, you could argue that, you know, maybe that game helped us a little bit, but again, they they play so different. Their play style is different in terms of their schemes and everything. Um, but again, I’m just so proud of those O linemen, the way they stepped up, um, and just kept fighting, kept battling. You mentioned Kevin Oonnell in your helmet. Um, is he giving you more than just like the play call? Like right before that 15-second cut off, is he giving you like things to look for? There’s times and moments for sure. Um, but just more than anything, just stays composed, you know, no matter what just happened the play before, whether it’s good, bad, ugly, didn’t matter. like he’s just very composed, giving us a play call, helping us to helping me to just lock in, you know, one play at a time and not get make things too big. Uh all those things and I really appreciate that. How is your shoulder feeling after the hits and after finishing the game playing? Feels great with a win. I’m not going to lie. Um yeah, we’re we’re okay. We’re okay. What’s the plans for the bye? I’m ready to see my family. It’s been it’s been a long time um being away from them and my three crazy little kids. So, uh, not sure. Not sure. Hang out with spend a lot of time with them and, um, just get healthy. You’ve been around a lot. Was that sideline celebration kind of unique for a week five victory? Seemed like it was a pretty emotional. Yeah, I think, you know, I mean, this is a very, you know, in my brief time here, it’s a very unique group of of guys in this locker room. And I mean that in a really good way that everybody’s so close. Um, I think this week was was great for that, too. and the weirdness of it. I think guys are very close and connected and um you know it’s hard to win in this league. At the end of the day, it’s hard to win in this league and um when you get it done in a dramatic fashion like that, it doesn’t matter who you’re playing. It doesn’t matter if it’s week 17, Super Bowl, week one, it doesn’t matter. Like you got to enjoy those moments. Um especially the way guys stepped up like that and I thought it was fun to see um the excitement from everybody. last couple. Carson, I know JJ’s on the men, but do you kind of look ahead a couple in in a couple of weeks and and do you kind of have to see yourself as preparing to start in a couple weeks? Yeah, I mean, I done plenty of looking ahead in my life that I’m done doing that. Um, I’m very much trying to live in the moment and appreciate the moment right now. And so, I’m going to enjoy this one, get healthy, and and see what happens. Throughout a lot of your career, you’ve you’ve utilized a lot of your athleticism. Um, I don’t know how much you feel like that’s changed, but to the degree that it may have, does that is that a difficult thing to kind of adjust to? Like I noticed like Miles Garrett ran you down. He’s going to run down a lot of the Yeah, I’m never going to win that one. Uh, but it just like it seems like the ability to kind of figure out what your speed is relative to a lot of other people might be more important for people who use their athleticism a lot in the past. Yeah. Um, you say I’m not as athletic anymore. Um, I mean, I am getting older. Um, but no, it’s it’s one of those things. Um, guys are fast on the other side of the ball. Guys are athletes, you know, there’s at any given time there’s at most one guy I’m faster than on the other side of the ball. That’s just the way it is. Um, and so I’m not trying to run around. I’m not trying to make plays. It just it happens when the pocket collapses or you know there’s a the defense or the secondary’s got guys covered. You’re trying to make plays and so um that’s not what I’m trying to do back there. Um, some guys are in this position. That’s not me. I got some elite wide receivers and tight ends out there. I want to get them the ball, not do it myself. So, um, yeah, those things happen in the game and, um, yeah, just trying to do the best I can. Carson, as an experienced quarterback, uh, in the NFL, what did you make of your counterpart today making his debut? Obviously, it’s very hard to make your debut away from home and especially millions of miles away from home over a season. How do you think he fared? Yeah. Um, I can only get to watch so much. Obviously, I’m staring at the tablet over there trying to make sure I’m locked in. I was in the locker room for part of it. Um, but I know I remember those emotions and all of the craziness that comes with starting your first game. So, um, I it looked to the eye like he handled it well. Um, but I other than that, I can’t speculate much about that, but um, you know, happy for him to to go out and compete the way he did, but thankfully we got it done. Thank you guys. Nice coaching.

UNBELIEVABLE OFFENSIVE LINE PLAY TODAY! REFRESHING TO SEE CARSON THROW THE BALL TO JEFFERSON EVEN WHEN HE IS COVERED! SKOL!
Stefanski still love you guys cause he gave you guys the game.
A lot of #Respect for Wentz, he really has grown since his time as our EAGLES . Best of luck 👍
Carson Wentz is a true warrior and should be the starting quarterback the rest the way he keep us in all the games his play in give us a chance to win Even with a terrible offensive line
Wentz will never be a complete starter. Too many poor decisions and reckless style BUT can he still win you games? Yep. He is a good backup to have on a contender . Vikings should keep him next season to backup JJ again.
JJ McCarthy is QB1! Thank you wentz for showing him tap!
So happy for Carson….class act!
Literally Wentz just beat the best defense in the league while being protected by some fvcking pop warner OL. Only a top 5 QB can do that.
Hot take: dudes a low radar MVP candidate with his stats
Do you think Carson knows who Arif is? I hope he does.
He beat the #1 defense in the league despite:
-An injured shoulder
-An o-line with 3 backups (4 on the game-winning drive)
-2 RB fumbles
-1 missed field goal
-A bunch of penalties
Resign him for next year. Won’t be a mistake
I wish I had $100 million to easily get a beautiful family some people are blessed. 😇 Jesus is always watching right 😊
After what I’ve seen over the last three weeks, I think Carson would be a good backup and a good example for JJM to learn from. Could get a good solid backup for a reasonable price. Two year contract extension might be a smart move.
Absolutely not sold on the idea of immediately giving the starting job back to JJ when he’s healthy. It should 100% be Carson’s job to lose at this point.
Lets go Carson
WOO HOO 🙌 QUARTER BAK WENTZ OUR SUPER STAR 🌟 EVENTUALLY
Good dude giving the situation no oline and only 6weeks to prepare for the season!!!
Love the way he talked about the offensive line–Wentz is a class act, I'll give him that much.
You absolutely let Wentz start vs the veteran Eagles. If he beats Philly you let him play… We have to maximize Jefferson, Addison and this possible last year with Flores.
Great game Carson!
How long until he's injured again?
The fact that the O-line seems to be the problem for both JJM and Wentz makes me wonder if this deteriation could have started at the end of last season with Darnald as QB? It's all water under the bridge now but maybe it was the O-line that choked late last season and not Darnald?
All the vikings fans coming to dik ride eventho he got bailed out by Jefferson the whole game
Keep wentz starting!!
Heal up Carson……me thinks you'lll be starting AGAIN in 4-5 weeks !
MAKE HIM THE STARTER REST OF SEASON !! GO NDSU !
I'm happy for Wentz but just glad we got the win. I wonder if Bills fans thought the same of Josh Allen his first few games let alone first season because it was terrible if y'all forgot. Got to give JJ an actual real chance
Kudos for pointing out how well the patched up O-Line did, Carson! They did a great job considering everything, and so did you! Now everyone heal up and get some rest ❤️🩹😴🙏💜🏈💛
Carson is a class act and a good leader. But we have to start JJ when he’s ready. That last drive was amazing! But the rest of the game was just OK. We already know aging vets can play well with KOC. We have to find out what JJ has, good or bad.
At least They NEVER give up❤🎉
As a Eagles fan I’m always rooting for Carson 🙏🏿🦾💯
Great job by the Vikes. But we need to get JJ back in there and see what we’ve got. Wentz will not bring us to the promised land. If you disagree, I assure you… you don’t know ball.
This is what the Eagles could have looked like if they drafted Justin Jefferson instead of Jalen Raegor…
Carson is talking with poise and experience of a real veteran and a leader. Proud of him!
His answer about not looking ahead and living in the moment was great. Shows a lot of maturity IMO.
Sign him to a long term contract and let this guy start I’m sold
I don't ever want to hear another butthurt Eagles fan say Wentz has no heart.
Would not be at all surprised if Carson becomes a coach when his playing days are over. But I’m enjoying the comeback tour
Hes getting more settled each week. Would like to see our qb room stay together. Carson is goid example and very unselfish.
I hope that coach O’Connell remembers that it’s his job to put the best players on the field on game days. It’s pretty obvious that Carson is the best QB the Vikings have right now.
In due time it very well could be JJ, but not at this time, maybe next season.
Red Guardian : "This Is Not The Night We Fall..!!!"
Thank You 😈 !!!

I will no longer be watching the NFL after they decided to showcase bad bunny, a demonic, transexual, social marxist for the half time show. Millions of kids will be watching and you wanna have a demonic drag show? I cannot watch that or support an organization that is pushing this sick agenda on kids. Christians need to make a stand and show these companies we wont take let our kids be subjected to this trash.
Did anyone else watch the game and remember hearing Wentz call an audible and he yelled out "bottle of water"? I found that pretty funny at the time and ive told a few people about it but now that I am looking for it to show I can not find a video or an info about it anywhere.
