[Music] [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] [Music] Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. [Music] I don’t [Music] [Music] Hey, [Music] hey, hey. [Music] Hey, do you feel [Music] [Music] I feel [Music] hey. [Music] [Music] Hey, [Music] do it. [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] [Music] [Music] feel. I do feel [Music] [Music] key to that game that uh allowed you guys to turn it in your direction in one. Yeah, I think just kind of sticking with it. I mean, uh, you know, it was a really good team over there. Big, physical, heavy. They like to hang on to pucks. So, uh, it was a was a grinder. Sort of that afternoon game. We had a great first. They had a great second. And, um, just stay with it. Stay with it. Obviously, found a way to tie it up there late in the second. Great goal by Sh after some big penalty kills. And then, uh, you know, get the go ahead and just go on from there. But, I just I felt like we just hung in, stayed in the fight the whole game. Um, you know, it’s kind of that Western Conference style hockey. You mentioned Sh’s uh um goal. You spent some time with him in the offseason. Are you seen anything that allows him to start the season like that? Um, I mean, he’s a machine uh off the ice, on the ice. Uh, you know, we basically skate and train together every day all summer. um you know he’s uh very committed to the to his game and um you know we I’ve benefited a lot from skating with him and working with him and you know kind of talking things through together. So um yeah definitely uh you know he looks great always to start the year and uh but again that’s from his hard work and commitment you know all summer. Sure looks from your heads up there that that was a pass to him for that third goal. Yeah, I mean, uh, you know, they kind of just try and get traffic and Sha’s great. We’ve connected on that through the years, but just try to get it through and give the forwards a chance to get a stick on it and change direction. You know, that’s probably not going in on most goalies uh from the corner of the blue line, but uh stick in front makes it tough. So, it was a great play by him. Crazy hand eye and, uh, you know, big goal for us. What’s going through your mind when I think Stanley has three blocks and one each from a whole bunch of other guys at the very end there? Yeah, that’s just commitment. Doing the tough things to win a hockey game. I mean, it’s game two, but um guys are putting their bodies on the line. You know, Hely played unreal all night, made big saves, uh when we needed them to and we needed them to today. And um I just thought that that group of penalty killers, uh you know, and then when Pete came out of the box and it was six on five, they really committed to, you know, blocking shots. Um, you know, it’s early in the year, so we haven’t had a lot of time to talk about our six on five defense. And, you know, I thought they executed kind of exactly what we wanted and what we talk about. So, um, yeah, it’s awesome to see Stan with some huge blocks. Mel, great stick. I mean, Flatty, Pierce, uh, you know, it was it was awesome. So, um, that’s the kind of stuff you need to do to win games. You had to do it twice in the preseason. What was like the way your D went with five guys after it went down? Yeah, it’s always uh you know, you never want to see guys leave the game, but uh you know, we talk about stepping up and we’ve unfortunately uh I think I’ve played four games now and three of them and we’ve had 5D. So, um hopefully that doesn’t continue, knock on wood. But, uh yeah, just you know, it was for the third period. So, I guess it’s only one period and not, you know, 40 or 50 60 minutes. So, um, yeah, we did a good job of stepping up, kind of being, uh, fluid of who you’re out there with and, um, communicating. So, um, yeah, it was, uh, it was a good job by the D. On the shift that leads to Shley’s redirection goal, I think you stole it in a neutral zone to kind of kick off a wave there. Um, did that just feel like a time where you guys might be able to take over the game with the pressure you were building? Yeah, I think, you know, if you look at the flow of the game, we came out great. We had a great first period. uh you know second period they got to their game and and uh you know I’d say won sort of the majority of that second period and then in the third it’s you know it’s up for grabs and um you know we got out there had some really good ozone shifts kind of I thought started to turn the momentum there and then you know we uh we got out there with Sheline and you know we’re trying to be aggressive trying to you know put the pressure on them and um you know it was big big goal at a big time in that game to kind of give us a chance to close it out and um and win that hockey Thank you, Josh. [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] [Music] Mark, how would you describe the the game winner and what what led to it? Just a good Oz on shift, I think. Um, you know, the D included, we you know, we all supported the puck well, guys in the right spot. Um, obviously Jamie made a good shot. It was just good O’s on shift. Is there some non-verbal communication or does he just know you’re going to be in that spot? I’m not much of a talker on the ice anyway, but uh um he’s a pretty good player, so I think he I think he knew what he was doing. What did you see from your PK that led to the the rush that your first goal was scored on? Bear was in a good spot. Um you know, forcing that guy in the middle to kind of be in a tough spot and you know, obviously we kind of got a lucky bounce, but you know, good good play by Bear there and I was the the lucky one to get lucky. At the end of the game, you get three blocks off of Stanley and one each from a whole bunch of other guys. What can you say about how you held on to that lead? Yeah, it took a took a took a lot of sacrifice. You know, Stan even took a saucer pass off the head. Um, you know, a lot of, you know, a lot of big blocks tonight. How he made some big saves. You know, you need that in in those moments to get the win. And, um, you know, the PK did an awesome job. Why were you able to have such a better start today? How was the focus for your group going on today? I don’t know actually. We, you know, we, you know, obviously we weren’t happy with our last game. So, um, you know, we know, uh, you know, LA’s a tough team. You know, they’re they’re they they make it a hard day all around. So, um, we knew to we knew we had to come out strong and, you know, we were happy with the way we started. We kind of had a little bit of a lull, but um, you know, kudos to the boys for, uh, sticking with it. Mark, were you aware the Kings the only team you didn’t beat last season? I wasn’t aware of that. See from the power play also getting going. Yeah. No, obviously, you know, we had we even had more looks like uh you know, it easily could have been a uh you know, a three nothing game early and um Keer made some really big saves. Um so, uh you know, that that was that that looked a lot better, especially against a good killing team and uh you know, some good players over there and a good goalie. So, um you know, we just got to keep that going. It looked like there were a lot of faceoff plays where there was a long delay before the puck came down. Was there something extra they were trying to focus on? I I have no idea honestly. I I I don’t know. I black out. Mark, I know it’s a complete total team effort, but Kyle last game, you this game, great pass by Josh on the game winner. Heli doing what he does. How would you describe the mindset of the stars on this team and in being stars when you’re needed? Yeah, you know, I think uh you know, that’s what we pride ourselves on is is being those go-to guys in in big moments of the game. So, um, obviously off the, you know, off the first two games, um, you know, we felt good and and, uh, you know, that’s a a good thing, but, you know, now we got to move on to the next one and and continue to try to push for more. [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] Hey, [Music] hey, hey. [Music] [Music] Hey, [Music] hey, hey. [Music] Heat. Heat. N. [Music] [Music] Hey, [Music] hey, hey. [Music] [Music] Hey, [Music] hey, hey. [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] Hey, [Music] hey, hey. You are [Music] [Music] hey. [Music] that shot. Yeah, I got hit with that shot. So, uh, pretty sore. Um, kind of cut him just just above on the side of the kneecap. So, just wake up tomorrow and see how he is. See how he’s doing. Would you describe the start of the year Mark Shaley’s had? Yeah. Um, you know, he’s our leader. He’s one of our leaders. And, uh, you know, he’s not only, you know, having to do a little bit more with Lao being out leadership in the room, but play on the ice is, you know, he’s been really good. Um, yeah, he’s uh certainly driving some offense here. Scott, when you face a team like LA, how much do you preach patience to your guys to capitalize on those unlikely moments? Yeah, they’re a big, heavy team and we knew that. Um, I think I said to you guys the other day that didn’t like our sort of that battle part of it. I thought tonight it was great. I thought we did a great job with it. We were real good in the first, they were a lot better in the second. And I thought third period was our one of our best periods where it was really a lot of um you comm commitment to playing how we need to play all the time and and those games you got to stay in them. Uh you know obviously your goalender has to help you out. Our PK was uh fantastic but we had a lot of really good chances uh as well and then you know what it comes down to a moment and ship was that moment. Can we talk about that last stretch of the game where you get 2 and a half minute one. Yeah. How’d you get through it? Uh you know what those But it’s more about packing it in. Um they’re dead tired and then P got out there and they pulled their goalie. It’s just you’re already tired. It’s shot lanes. It’s the commitment to you know you’re going to uh you know you’re going to have to get in front of a couple like like we did. Then the other side of it when those shots get into heli then there’s going to be rebounds. You got to find a way to whack them to get them out of the that front. And you know, they had big bodies around there. I just thought we did a really good job of just keeping to the outside. And I think when you block one or two shots, now they’re trying to make more plays. They don’t want to get their shots blocked. But at the end of the day, uh there was some really good really good things uh just digging in and finding a way. I think Stanley had three blocks and then Sha just said that he took a pass block off the head or helmet at one point, too. What did you see from him tonight? Today from Stan? Stan? Yeah. No, I mean when especially when you drop to 5D, everybody has to drive up their workload and you know, I thought those guys were good. Uh like I said, LA’s a big team. They they heavy on the for check. Um big about them trying to get to the net front. We put a lot of emphasis on uh trying to get sticks. Um we won the guy obviously, but at the end of the day, it was a lot about um using our size and that’s where Stan comes in. Um he had to run into a few of those guys. So that’s uh you know him and Luke um you know you have to get tip their hat to them in those type of games. You need their their size. And then what was happening at the faceoff circle that led to so many of those long delays and all those You want me to get in trouble here? Second game of the year. Was there something they were trying uh Yeah, I’m not sure. You’re right. I agree with that. Um, I’m not sure what they I think early in the year they’re trying to be make sure that everything’s done right and correct. Probably as the year goes on it kind of drops off a bit, but it was taking a little longer than normal and I just think they were just the referees are just trying to get themselves um kind of making sure the players are doing whatever it is they want us to do and that’s staying behind the lines. That’s the timing of who comes in first, those type of things. Scott, I wanted to ask about the goal that Mark Shiffley scored to put you guys ahead 3-2. He talked about that shift and how good the the puck support was. What did you see on that shift that was the game? That’s exactly what it was. Uh, you know, staying over top of pucks, getting getting on the right side of pucks. We had to obviously making sure that we did the right things there and then Barrett did a real nice job of pushing that ahead. But, um, yeah, at the end of the day, uh, you know, that’s driving it to the net. You never know what happens. He probably was. I think he was trying to make a pass, but at the end of the day, him driving that, like we saw Baron the other night on the short-handed goal, taking the pucks to the net. Those are the hard places to go and, you know, that’s kind of rewarded on that one. And the eventual game winner. Oh, I’m sorry. Yeah, sure. I got my wrong uh that one. Yeah, same thing. Uh getting inside. You know, we lost, we looked, uh went back and looked a little bit at some of the stats, some of our notes from our LA games last year, and the big thing that kept jumping out was not getting inside against them. and they’re they’ve got some big D and they’re trying to do what we tried to do, keep the outside and I thought we did a really good job of getting to the net front on Keer. Um you know that Sh getting there, he won his race to the inside and kept his stick free. Um you know sometimes you’re going to get boxed out other times if you can get your stick loose like he did. That was a great tip. Great shot. Certainly what we uh needed to do against a team like that. Uh penalty killing tonight especially at the end there. just kind of your thoughts on uh on your guys tonight on that. Uh yeah, the other night and tonight I’m been very impressed. Um you know, we obviously Dino put some work into it. Couple of things we’ve kind of changed a little bit, but new personnel uh some different bodies. So um I do like our pressure. Um recognizing where the uh sort of the where the opposition is trying to get to with their primary shot or their primary attack and we’ve been taking it away. And then once these shots, rebounds, those type of things happen, we’ve been able to be the first of those pucks. And the other side of it as well, we’ve started uh we’ve won a lot of draws. We’ve done a good job winning draws um and then getting the clears from those. Just last thing, uh Josh was talking about you guys haven’t spent a lot of time working on six on five quite yet. I mean, I’ i’ve heard that it’s really difficult to to to plan that and make it be efficient. Did you you must have been happy with just kind of that whole sequence toward the end. We had the one big day there. I think it was four or five days ago. Um where we did just that. Six on five, five on six. But the difference is you have it’s hard to uh you know have an idea who’s coming out on the ice most of the time. Um but each team kind of has different looks to it. They have a lot of lefties um on their group. So we kind of knew where the one-times were coming from. Try to set it up that way and and kind of line up against that. Uh but yeah, it’s just as the season goes on and they can happen in the first period, the second period on a delayed penalty. So, you got to know what to do and it might be your fourth line guys, third line guys. Uh everybody has to be prepared how to play those situations. And I think as the season go on, you get a little bit more video from it. You get a little bit more um coaching and teaching that you can do as you get longer and longer into the season. Good. Thank you. 10 a.m. tomorrow. [Music] Hey [Music] [Music] Do you feel it? [Music]
