This is EXTREMELY good news for Blues Fans…

This is extremely good news for the St. Louis Blues. After coming off a dominant performance versus the Calgary Flames, Jin Montgomery against multiple players that stood tall with one in particular causing a huge decision for the St. Louis Blues having to make moving forward. We’re going to break down all this two key players and one in particular that is going to be crucial for the St. Louis Blues team and so much more later on this episode. Before we get into that, I just want to give a huge shout out to everyone watching. We’re trying to reach our goal of 4,500 subscribers. So, head down, hit that free subscribe button. It would mean the world. But with that, dear, let’s go straight into it today where the St. Louis Blues finally got a win against the Calgary Flames. But the biggest storyline coming from this was the goalending. Now looking at this, Joel Hoer, Joel Hall of Famer had a great game. Saved 27 of 29 shots and a 2.12 goal saved above expected with a 931 save percentage. Going into this, before we get into the implications, what is your thoughts on Hoffer going into the second game and really proving a point that the Blues goending is quite elite? Well, we are not the curse, ladies and gentlemen. And the Blues have officially won a game since we’ve started the channel and they scored a goal. Howdy neighbor. Got them on the board. Uh, which was nice to see. And obviously a big game against the Calgary Flames. And like you alluded to, you know, when we last left off with, you know, all of you guys in our last video, we were under the assumption that Jordan Bennington was going to start this game and then they ultimately ended up going to Joel Hoffer, who, you know, again, I wouldn’t blame the first game on Jordan Bennington, but I thought this was a very interesting choice. and then he had a fantastic game. So, I wonder if this makes the decision-m process into the next game a little bit more difficult. I would imagine not the case. I would imagine that Jordan Bennington will go back in net when they play the Vancouver Conucks. Uh and then we’ll see kind of what he has. But if he has another, you know, tough game, that could be, you know, very interesting. But I think it was a case of, you know, the early season jitters, it being a first game on home ice and obviously having the pressure on you. A lot of teams who had home ice around the league to start the season did not start off well. So I I you know I’m going to chalk it up to that. I think the Blues are going to be just fine. I think Bennington will also be just fine. But I think this is extremely good news for the Blues and you know fans because Hoffer looks awesome and that’s great. you need a backup goalender or, you know, a 1B, whatever you want to call it at this point, to be that good, to be able to steal you a game, to be able to win you games, right? To be a service, uh, when you’re looking around the league, a serviceable goalender, and Hoffer, the future Hall of Famer, Joel Hall of Famer, is that guy. So, uh, he had fantastic numbers in this one. He looked awesome. He made a a crazy cross crease save coming across and, uh, robbing the guy with his blocker. So, love to see that. But yeah, I you know I as you can see right here on your screen, great save and great athleticism from hope for a couple times yesterday keeping them in the game and then ultimately you know you get four goals out of your forwards as well. So nice to see Robert Thomas also on the board but I think this could make the decision process a little bit more difficult moving forward especially if Bennington doesn’t have a good game but I would imagine Bennington is going in their next game. And I think the big thing is you have a decision to make. Like you said, you have two elite goalenders, a 1A, 1B with Bennington being the most established goalender despite the bad first game. But I think this is a perfect opportunity where we’re going to see goalenders push each other. We’ve seen Bennington struggle. Hoper stepped out, took over, and came in with a dominant performance. Bennington’s going to look at this and want to replicate this, go out to get a win for the team. I think overall you have two strong goalenders that can play almost any night and you’re going to go in with a very good chance to win. Listen, like you said, the first game is not completely on Bennington. Yes, there is a couple that he could have saved, but when you’re getting shut out, you can’t blame the goal turner on that because there was no offense, which we did see come from this team and Jake Neighbors himself spoke. Hol made some huge saves. Tucks with the fight that really brought the motion to our team and we carried them the rest of the way. Now, we’ve seen Jake Neighbors playing quite well last night, scoring two goals, his first two goals of the season, playing in Calgary, his hometown. What was your thoughts on Joel Ho? Listen, we’ll touch on Robert Thomas and Pew Sudter as well. But what is your thoughts on Jake Neighbor coming out making a statement and scoring these two big goals to get the season going? Like you mentioned, he wanted to have a good game because he is from there. So, obviously, you know, anytime that you’re playing in your hometown, you want to put up a good performance. But this is very interesting now because, you know, I saw a lot of people saying that, man, they gave up Zack Buluke. Look how good he’s doing. And we’re going to touch on that in this video as well because we can’t, you know, ignore it anymore. It’s a thing that is happening. But look at what’s happening with that situation. Why did we end up picking Neighbors over him? Well, here’s Neighbors, right? He started off the season very strong and two goals uh in their second game. They didn’t score a single goal in the first game. So, off to a really strong start and I think that he has this type of offense in his game. I think he’s going to be able to produce on that third line this year. So maybe not at this clip, right? Let’s not expect the goal a game or anything like that, but he’s going to be able to give you some offense there on the third line. So I think this was a really good start from him. He look he’s playing with a lot of confidence. He’s still relatively a young player in the league as well. So uh really good stuff from him so far. I think you need him to take it up a notch from what we’ve seen the last couple years as well, but I definitely think he’s going to be able to give you that offense on the uh you know the third line there. And again, I think he had a really good game. He was, you know, he played roughly 14 minutes or he’s averaging 14 minutes through the first two games so far. So, you know, clearly Jim Montgomery is trusting him a little bit more, which is something we talked about during the summer. And, you know, where’s the trust going to go? Where are these minutes going to go for certain guys? But I think the other thing we need to talk about too is, you know, the other story line around the league is Logan Mayu with the Blues right now, his start versus Zack Buluke with the Montreal Canadiens. And listen, like Zack Buluke is going to score goals. If he was on the Blues, he would have scored goals, but there was a bit of a log jam at the winger position where with Montreal, he’s playing, you know, big minutes so far and he’s playing really well. Mayu is not going to put up as many goals as Zack Book. It’s just the fact of the matter. They don’t play the same position. Mayu is playing a lesser role than Buluk is in Montreal. So, that’s just the way I see it. I don’t think there’s reason to panic. I think this move is more for the future anyway. And you know, it wasn’t for the first two games of the season. This is not a race to see who scores the most goals and who wins the most games in the first five games of the season, right? This is a marathon at this point to see, you know, what’s going to happen with Mayu. You know, what situations are they trusting him in? So, pump the brakes a little bit, guys. We know he’s off to a hot start. It might not even be sustainable, right? So, I think pump the brakes a little bit. Things will be okay. And I think the big thing is, too, listen, Boduk was awesome having on the team. We know he established on the third line. Yes. Right now they’re dealing with some injuries where Taxi has stepped in. We’ve seen Joseph step in. But the biggest thing with the team is we’re seeing Boduk like you said in a top six role on the top power play and he doesn’t get that opportunity in St. Louis and a positional need change was something this Blues teams needed. They need a young defenseman. We know last season having Faulk on the back end. The age was kind of a little rough. They slowed down a bit, but now you’re getting a younger defensive core that yes is going to make some mistakes. Mayu hasn’t been the best player for the St. Louis Blues yet, but I do see a very bright future and a more uh capable opportunities to move up on this back end compared to what Boduk would have got. So, I think with the trade, it does make sense. Yes, it sucks that we’re seeing him off to a hot start, but I think with this Blues team when they finally get jelling, listen, there’s a couple new faces. They’ve dealt with some injuries. Jim Montgomery is coming into his first season opener with the Blues. I think the big thing is this team is capable of being very good. We seen them dominate last night versus Calgary. Yes, the first game sucked, but we’re two games in. This is a Blues team that’s going to make the playoffs. The Montreal Canadiens are going to fight to try to make it, but may miss it. But Blues fans, what is your thoughts? What do you think is happening with Jordan Bennington and Hoffford? Do you stick with the hot hand going into Monday’s game or do you go with Bennington to give him a bounce back? What’s your thoughts on the forge? Who do you think’s the most impressive so far? Let us know down in the comments. And speaking of comments, let’s go into comment of the day coming from Rick. Let’s hope that Mayu gets better. Boduk off to a fast start. And I think this is the big thing. There is a chance that he continues dominating. He could score 30 goals, but Mayu is still very young and I think there’s a 40point season in his near future. But what you guys thoughts, leave your comments down below and you could be comments of the day. While you’re down there, leave a like, subscribe, share this with your friends. We’ll be back another episode. So keep your eye for that. But I’ve been your host Mark with my co-host Darius. And take care blue sense.

  1. I was hoping for that curse!
That first game made me think of the season we won the CUP.
Typical blues season 1/3 hey going to the cup. 2/3 looks like average high-school team can brat us. 3/3 hey making the playoffs theb lose in playoffs. The CUP year we were dogs hit the entire season theb a miracle happened we got Bennington, that first game reminded me of the CUP season.

  2. I know it's only two games in and I know only a little bit of Nick Bjugstad from his time in Florida

Can ANYONE tell me what signing his was/is meant to bring to this team

I'm not necessarily talking 25g and 35a on a season but what tangibles he just seems to be a body taking up a roster spot

When Army said he wanted the team to gst younger and wanted to target the 24-29yo age range I didn't understand moving almost immediately for NB

I'd say the same for Pius Suter IF I hadn't been watching him from Chicago and Detroit then obviously his stint in Vancouver

So yes I wanted us to kick the tires and was happy with thay signing

    Just lost on NB

He gives me broken Lucic vibes

    Just a passenger

On the bright side though only 2 games in I'm liking what I'm seeing from Buch with and without the puck

As last year I felt he became a passenger after he got paid

Had a lil drive during the late season winning streak and a good effort at home vs WPG and that was it

    Sorry for the long post

Didn't wanna break it into multiple

  3. I loved Bolduc but I understood the move for Mailloux. Watching him play, I am excited for the future, he has all the tools to be a top four Dman and a bit of a mean streak.

  4. It was never a decision between "Bolduc or Neighbors". I understand there is a log jam but Bolduc was such a promising guy to have on the team. I would have traded Dalibor Dovorsky for Logan Mailloux or some sort of package for Mailloux. I never wanted to see Neighbors go either. Would rather have Bolduc in the Lineup over Joseph, Texier or Suter. Bolduc had a possible future with the Blues unlike Texier, Suter, Joseph who will probly not get extensions. Heck, I'll rather have Bolduc over Buchnevich. Bolduc should have been more of priority to keep as part of the Core. He was our future Schenn. Bolduc def capable of another 19-20 goal season, we def know what we lost in the trade. Mind you, I really like Mailloux, I wish we just traded different assets for him.

  5. lets not pat ourselves too much on the back over calgary, they maybe in the lineup for the first over all pick in next years draft they are that bad..

  6. I think Binnington likes having something to prove, and to be pushed competitively. Hofer having an impressive outing will bring out a little extra intensity hopefully.
